NFL Europe, The NFL's D-league, existed from 1991-2007. It had its quirks and oddities, but also produced super bowl winning talent. Why did it disappear? Find out here!

KTO saw that vid!
I played in the United Football League for Jim fassel after a short stop in Green Bay in 2010 and 2011. Made all pro and actually won a Championship. That was a cool League, with solid Coaches. Their was many players from that league that made to the NFL.
It's legit ^
Jim Fasel was fired at Utah. Great offense, shit defense.
The UFL had a Cable TV deal with Versus which later became NBC Sports Network.
I hate that the ufl ended.
WWE Wrestler John Bradshaw Layfield Played for San Antonio
LOL as a German I literally wondered about this the other day. Thanks for solving that mystery and the quality content as per usual.
Hey if were to happen, Would you watch a German NFL team and if you where do you think it would play it's games as i'm always interested in the idea even if it is a long shot.
Tyler Spencer I study here as well and it is great. Where do you plan to go? Go Packers!
Marylandbrony if it was a serious team I would definitely watch. But I love football anyway and watch NCAA and NFL every week.
As for Locations I think Berlin and Frankfurt are obvious due to the amount of Americans/people with American roots living there. But Germans do like football and it has a growing fanbase. Two NFL games are shown on TV each sunday and there are fan clubs of teams in Germany.
Tyler Spencer Alright then lesson no. 1, don't say mia san mia. That is the slogan of Bayern München. Everyone hates them, it is equally bad as being a pats fan...
#cheesehead
jaczekdertuerke because their the best with the best goal keeper in the world & the best goal scorer in bundeslegaue
bandwagon...
LaVar Ball was a TE for one season for the Monarchs. I’m not making this up 😉
Pichu London I know as well
better than gronk
Where he failed. He was a locker room cancer that couldn't back anything up on the field or court.
Jeb Voorhees yeah well no shit
I wanna say he was on the Carolina Panthers practice squad too.

My landscape professor clotheslined Vinatieri in high school on a kick return and got flagged for it. Vinatieri stood up and said “one day I’m going to be famous and you’re going to be nobody.” He wasn’t wrong lol
eh you dont believe that do you? i doubt theres a kicker on this planet with that much ego, they are the runts on a football team lmao
Landscape professor?
Lol no he didn't 😂😂
@@Bidwellz9 to play devils advocate a stud kicker in high school tends to really stand out, definitely a game-changer considering most teams cant reliably kick field goals >35 yards
Red and Black Films Yeah he did 😂
4 points past 50 honestly seems like a pretty interesting rule and honestly could work in the NFL
It pushes teams to pursue kickers that can kick beyond 50 yards accurately, and to take those chances.
Commander Stama I miss that rule from NFL Europe. I mean you get 3 points instead of 2 for shooting from beyond the arc in basketball, so why shouldn't you be rewarded for kicking longer field goals. Besides, the NFL already has 1 and 2 point conversions, so why not have 3 and 4 point field goals?
The NFL doesn't want kickers to be the stars. They're very rarely on the field and aren't very marketable. So they're not going to increase their significance. They've already given consideration to removing kickoffs and extra points from the game.
Tubeite they also have 2 pointers in Major League Lacrosse. Makes sense since if a shot is coming from beyond the two point arc, a goalie should save it (this is coming from a goalie).
Could it theoretically end up with teams signing a specialist long field goal kicker in the same way you have long snappers for special teams?
The World Bowl globe/trophy looks like it should be activating some villain's secret weapon or opening a hidden door to a tomb when it is lowered onto it's stand.
This channel is the REAL DEAL thanks brother for the uploads!!
We get a new one tho. European league of football is going to start this year. 6 german teams and a team out of poland and barcelona are involved. Longterm they want about 20 teams. And they have a huge chance as ran nfl and pro7maxx are showing the games live in germany. Pro7maxx is the tv channel that shows the nfl and the same group build this new league. Football had a huge hype in germany and many people watch it, and they gonna watch the european league of football too. Pro7maxx is a big free tv channel in germany and the little bro of pro7 wich is the biggest channel in germany. Everyone can watch for free. My expectation: sooner or later it is going to be the second biggest league for american football behind the nfl
But it's crazy how fast the buildet the leuge
@@niklasschenk686 they want to use the hype that is football rn in germany. The media contract puts it onto another level tho. The gfl isn't shown in germany. And never was anything else then the nfl. This new league was now created with the help of the tv company and all ganes will be shown live in free tv on a big channel. Totally different game. I am from stuttgart and I dont know how many people can be in attendance for the first game cause of covid and the stadium isnt the biggest but from what I saw rn there are like 15 seatplaces left for the first homegame. If they get good fansupport and fill the stadiums and they keep showing it in free tv talents out of other countries and teams are gonna take notice in no time and gonna join I hope

The reason the elephant brought in that trophy was to give the allusion that it was extremely heavy to symbolize it was the "Weight of The World"
Wasn't it also because ancient soldiers such as Alexander, Hannibal, and Caesar tried to conquer the world with elephantries?
Plus it was also a marketing tool to create more buzz for the league. An elephant bringing in the trophy would create buzz!!
Again , good shit bro. love the vids , keep it up!
KTO doesn’t lie… this is a pleasant surprise
They should do it again
I remember trying to watch it a couple of times. It was unbearable and Amsterdam Arena ( where Amsterdam Admirals played ) was always empty
Well in order for this to happen we have to make Soccer look bad and obsolete because Soccer is number 1 in Europe and man does that sport sound boring
would you consider to make a video on the newly founded European league of football? (new NFL Europe)
Foreal 🙏 they goin grow tho I like elf that stuff go hard no kap
Amsterdam Admirals!!
I remember playing Madden '03 and just trolling all the NFL Europe teams.
KTO would be a much better commissioner for the NFL than Roger Goodell. #KTOforCommissioner
but them kneeling is a good thing tho rowdy... i mean how unamerican can you get.. your so called troops fought for those players rights to protest hell for every us citizen to protest because they fought for freedoms of which allows said protests to deny those players is to deny the biggest thing your army fights for outside oil... and that my dear sounds like a big fuck you to your troops..
except they didnt? U.S. Army veteran Nate Boyer convinced Colin Kaepernick to kneel, rather than sit, while protesting police brutality during the national anthem. We sorta came to a middle ground where he would take a knee alongside his teammate. Soldiers take a knee in front of a fallen brother’s grave, you know, to show respect. When we’re on a patrol, you know, and we go into a security halt, we take a knee, and we pull security. from nate boyer. google is your friend.
Also papa John's withdrew their sponsorship with the NFL this year. This is due to the NFL protests hurting their sales, but I think it is actually their pizza, the taste quality of their pizza, that is really hurting their sales because I think their pizza taste terrible.
Tony B. Yes
I just came from Korzemba vid bro niiice
Do a video on UAB football
Jack Dosi they exist now though. They were only gone for 1 year due to financial reasons
www.espn.com/magazine/vol5no12uab.html
Here's an interesting, but rather obscure article I remember outside the lines doing a story over this one I believe. But a video over a rather obscure FBS school would be interesting none the less.
@@TTURedRaider6 as a Alabama fan sure because UAB is the son of Alabama
I remember the first seasons when american and european teams were playing and travelling and scheduled times for the matches were a nightmare. Also cool thing that you've shown MAnny Burgsmüller in your vid. That guy was in his 50s when he played as a kicker and he is a german soccer legend and still holds the record for oldest ever football professional.
Omg yes!! I've literally wanted someone to do this video for ages, I loved this league
I miss NFL Europe. If it was still around, there would be football this weekend. Frankfurt Galaxy was my team. The final World Bowl was between the Frankfurt Galaxy and Hamburg Sea Devils, to settle once and for all the eternal debate: hotdogs vs hamburgers.
Ahh my favorite UA-camr posted again
Been to the Montréal Machines games many times and the World League Football Super Bowl. Good Times.. 🏈🏈🏈🇨🇦🇺🇲🏈🏈🏈
Your channel is amazing!
Goddam man I love your outro song! Hearing that with a conclusion vid is always fun to watch at the end of the video!
The Orlando Thunder had one of the Coolest Uniforms, they had Scott Mitchell as there starting QB. the League introduced the microphone in the helmet and the helmet cam
Please do a Barry sanders vid

NFL and CFL is holding combines in Europe as we speak. NFL in Germany, CFL in France and Finland(?) - there are some really good athletes out here!
A friend of mine played for the Frankfurt Galaxy in the 1996 season.
Several friends of mine from Europe have said that an NFL team over there might be good and bad. They say it's a good thing because it's something new and would give the locals something new to watch, which is why the NFL games in London always seem to do so well. They say it could be bad because once it becomes common practice then the locals will lose interest and not find anything special about it. I'd love to see something new come to fruition because it'd be a new developmental spot for upcoming talent. Cool video too. I love your stuff man. It helps me get through slow days at work and in trouble with my boss. Job well done, sir.
Canada is the most logical place for an NFL expansion. So many cities to give teams to.
NFL Europe, good ol’ times. Used to go to the Amsterdam Admiral games quite often, because a lot of times the league handed out free tickets to junior football players in the Netherlands just to fill up the stadium a bit. NFL Europe also used to organise clinics, did a lot of promotion for football in general and helped out the few Dutch football teams with donating equipment and such. By the time they pulled the plug I was a senior and headcoach of our junior tackle team. Remember it was harder to attract new players after that, and equipment was hard to come by.
Aww why didn't you play NFL 2k5
I need to get nfl 2k5 lol
I still play 2K5. My franchise is in the year 2023 and my star quarterback with 56 overall is AJ Feeley 😂
2k5 does not NFL europe teams
XFL is back!
I attended the 2003 World Bowl at Hampden Park in Glasgow, Scotland 🏴
A London Nfl team would be sick
Fantastic video kto. I personally like the idea of having a European league I think if they could get a league to stay afloat across the pond it could really help expand the NFL
Please do Barry sanders please just something
I always used to play with these teams back in 07 just because, why not? So cool seeing something untried before and wondering what they can do.
I play madden 05
Zachary Johnson so
Nvm
Best madden ever
As a Swiss American Football Fan I found out about all of this when my couch told me that he played in the NFL Europe. He is German and said back in the they he used to play WR in the NFL Eurpoe, because they had the rule of at least 2 non Americans on each side of the line of scrimmage. But when I got into Football this was not a thing anymore and now they only have these London Games. I think it was a great way for Europeans to come closer to their Dream of playing in the NFL.
The NFLE is returning. Sorta.
European League of Football
One of the best QBs in the NFL Europe was a guy from my hometown named Shaun Hill. But he keeps getting put 2nd or 3rd in the NFL behind players who aren't as good but have much larger salaries. He was better than Alex Smith in SanFran, better than Matt Stafford in Detroit. It's a shame, he should be a household name by now.
LordBarros lmfao HELL NO
I remember watching a couple of WLAF games in its inaugural season. What I remember most is that the broadcasts seemed to have a "foggy" look to them, even the games played in the US. You can even see it in a couple of the clips included in this video.
Going back to Scotland
Hey KTO been a fan of yours since the beginning , love your videos , keep up the good work ! could you do a video about Carson Wentz , that would be amazing
USFL video?
Rowdy Jr. why hate on trump lol you sound like a kid who just learned about what republicans and democrats are
Awesome vid dude!! I remember they tried making it a big deal that NFL Europa was revamping and being brought back but no one ever talked about it at school or Work. Simply , No one cared.
One WLAF team, the Sacramento Surge's owner after the WLAF pulled out of the US purchased a CFL expansion team in the same city called the Gold Miners, with some of the same players and colors. Jim Speros was supposed to get a team for Washington before the league focused on Europe. Instead he got a CFL team for Baltimore.
The AAF would have been amazing if it’s owners hadn’t been shit with money.
I really enjoyed it. Still in Mourning.
Man kto videos are to addictive it’s a must watch at this point
I never really understood the story behind the WLAF, NFL Europe, etc. I will definitely do some more research of my own now. Thank you for all of your hard work in making this video!
I love your videos. Are you self taught on your editing skills?
First
Nah, I'm just kiddin, I'm not 9 years old.
I watched NFL Europe quite a bit. I was a Rhein Fire fan, they HATED the Frankfurt Galaxy. 5 of the 6 teams played in Germany when the league folded, the Frankfurt Galaxy was the lone non-German team.
1:56 um, picture of Danny Wuerffel... he came later when the World League was renamed to NFL Europe. And he DID make the NFL. He was a 3rd round draft pick by the Saints (Ditka) era. After 3 seasons there he went to NFL Europe where he won a championship (2000 season) with the Rhein Fire. He eventually landed back in the NFL with Washington but washed out shortly after.
Wow
Best nfl story videos out there. Great Content! Subscribed!
Something I wonder is why the NFL doesn't look for a Mexican Team. The game is very popular over there. I'm sure if they start a team, they'd have a lot followers.
Revert Revertz Rather not get shot
Revert Revertz Mexico isn’t particularly safe as of now
Neither is america and there are 32 teams
So crazy you did a collaboration with Mike! I remember watching early NFL prediction videos lol
Do you plan on collabing with Urinatingtree?
Yes KTO needs to know three simple words FUCK YOU SPANOS
You should make documentaries for nfl films because you are a legend at it
I saw the Frankfurt Galaxie play the Scotland Claymores back in 2000 while I was stationed at Ramstein AB. I was surprised how many Germans were in the stands. They really were into it which surprised the hell out of me; I thought they were only interested in soccer. They put on a pretty decent show too- fireworks, sky divers, cheerleaders the whole 9 yards. The actual game itself is what you would imagine it to be- competitive but there was a reason the players weren't drafted in the States. Overall though it was a fantastic time.
The Rhein Fire had great uniforms.
The original WLAF actually experimented with cameras mounted inside the helmets of some players. It worked, but apparently the footage was deemed to violent and intense for viewers and they didn’t last.
National football league, in a different nation
TimRT Howard So what...Nabisco sells cookies internationally. Any major brand with National or American in its name does.
TimRT Howard an no competition an no rythem
Nba has a canadia team
They used to have two, in Vancouver which moved to Memphis as the Grizzlies and the Toronto Raptors.
Great video! Didn't even know about NFL Europe, even though they produced one of the best kickers that played for my favorite team!
I can't stop watching your videos, keep up the great work you have helped me get into football
What if Carson Wentz wentz to the Browns?
He played for the browns for a while
I had a coach back in 2006 when I was playing in French football team called the Saint Ouen l’Aumone Cougars, near Paris. He told us he went to NFL Europe (an obscure german team) and all we saw of his career was a 5 yards run in some bad quality video. I remember that detail for some reason.
Always look foraward to your vids man
You don’t post enough, I really enjoy your videos and it’s upsetting that I see them as little as I do
Love kto
When you’re German but got interested in football 2 months after the last world bowl....
Anyway, great video as always !
Btw the league had an big influence on Andrew Luck too. His father was the GM of some of the teams.
Luck lived in Europe for a while and attributes some of his skills to playing other sports than Football.
You the only youtuber where I watch the ads. Keep up the great work dude
What's up
I remember going to frankfurt galaxy games at commerzbank arena. It was AMAZING!
Now we have universe playing in a garbage stadium in front of a crowd of ~4000 people...miss those good old times
What a great surprise for my birthday. Nice video!
Dude my friend and old teammate Bobby Singh was on that Superbowl team with Kurt Warner and also played in the World league with the Barcelona Dragons and won a ring with them also. Look him up. He also won a couple Grey Cup rings. I believe the only player to do so in all 3 leagues? Offensive lineman. From Richmond BC Canada. Also our friend and teammate Mark Uiyama who is now the Minnesota Vikings head conditioning coach. We came from a good gene pool and rare from one town in BC Canada. Greg Bearman. CFL.
Europe division would be pretty awesome!
Right now we have only amateur national leagues.
Could you do a video on the USFL
Since 25k your my favorite youtuber
Love these videos. I played football in Turkey, of all places, and almost went to play in Switzerland. Totally different dynamic than the US.
Finally a colab with Mike Korzemba
would be interesting to hear about the crazy mismanagement and funding issues nfl europe/europa had
Hell yeah bro that video with Mikey K was fire🔥
KTO on a friday? Grabbing my popcorn
It's cool to listen to some of this my brother was on some of those teams
KTO I'm just gonna throw this out there for an idea... Memphis literally tried for decades to get an NFL franchise. They had a team in the WFL, the Southmen (Grizzlies), that you mentioned in a previous video. When the WFL folded in '75 they applied for entrance into the NFL, even selling 40,000 season tickets before they were approved for entrance into the league but were refused by the NFL. They even filed a lawsuit to let them in and it wasn't resolved until 1984. Then they had a USFL team from 1984-86, the Showboats, because they wanted to show the city could support a team. The Showboats even featured a young Reggie White and future professional wrestler Lex Luger. Then in the 90s after still trying to get an expansion franchise, dubbed the Memphis Hound Dogs, they ended up with a Canadian league team in 1995, the Memphis Mad Dogs but for only 1 season. Then the Houston Oilers relocated to Nashville but because their stadium wasn't finished and because Vanderbilt's stadium only seated 41,000 ppl (too small) and Neyland Stadium in Knoxville seated 102,000 (too big), they decided to play their games at the 62,000 seat liberty bowl in Memphis. Disheartened that they weren't getting a permanent NFL franchise, memphians didn't support the team at all. Attendance was only about 20,000 per game and had some of lowest attendances In the NFL since the 1950s. In fact most of the spectators were there to see opposing teams. This culminated with the final game of the 1997 season where the TN Oilers played the Pittsburgh Steelers. 50,000 fans showed up, the largest crowd of the season. But the overwhelming majority of the fans were there to see the Steelers. By some estimates the crowd was 3/4 Steeler fans. Bud Adams, owner of TN's franchise, was so embarrassed that he took the team back to Nashville and played the next season at Vanderbilt until their stadium was ready the following year. And finally in 2001 the XFL put a franchise in Memphis, the Maniax, but of course the league folded after only one season. But all is not lost... there's still a lot of Steeler fans, but now there is a big following for the Titans which most would call "our team."
As a european fan, whos only live game experience has been travelling to England for 2 wembley games these past years... i really wish something here did manage to build up. but yeah its just not a popular sport enough at the moment to ever have a full league compete.
The division idea could be a good first step tho.
had heard of the defunkt europe league but had no idea it was so weird haha
Great content. You are truly excellent at what you do my friend. Thank you so much.
Nice vid and as a panther fan that superbowl loss hurt so muchh
Lets have a look at What happened to NFL Europe teams :
Frankfurt Galaxy: Still play but in the top tier of German Football as Frankfurt universe
London Monarchs: Folded
Scottish Claymores: despite closing, the Scottish Claymores identity was being maintained, they inducted players in to their Hall of Fame, and as a means for promoting amateur American football in Scotland up untill 2006 where the hall of fame was renamed.
Amsterdam Admirals: folded
Rhine Fire: Folded
Cologne Centurions: folded
Hamburg sea Devils: folded, rights partly owned by the Hamburg Blue Devils, currently playing non-league football.
Berlin Thunder: Folded
as someone who was raised in Europe, if American Football became popular over there, as popular as Rugby for example, Europe, specifically places like Ireland, England and Germany, would become a powerhouse, and we could start seeing international games
Living in NE Florida, we’ve got the Jags and they have had a couple games in London and rumors began to run rampant our new owner, Shad Khan, only bought the team with plans to move it to Europe- I personally just think it’s a dumb viral rumor but who knows! There is actually a fan base that has developed over there.
Your outros never disappoint.
you should do a series where you go into depth about every nfl team
I watched NFL Europe a lot. I liked the Amsterdam Admirals with Gibron Hamdan (not sure if I spelled his name right). They were an insane offense, but Hamdan got hurt and Rhein Fire crushed them in the championship.
Jim Speros was supposed get a team in Washington, DC but when the league was on hiatus, got a CFL team for Baltimore instead.
