  • ICF stands for Insulated Concrete Forms, which is a construction method that involves using interlocking foam panels or blocks as a formwork for pouring concrete walls. Here's a short explanation of ICF construction:
    ICF construction begins with the assembly of interlocking foam panels or blocks to create the desired shape and dimensions of the walls. These panels are typically made of expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam.
    Once the foam panels are in place, steel reinforcing bars (rebar) are inserted into the cavities of the forms to provide structural strength to the walls.
    After the rebar is in place, concrete is poured into the forms, completely filling the cavity. The concrete adheres to the foam panels and creates a solid, insulated wall structure.
    The foam panels act as a thermal barrier, providing insulation to the building envelope. This helps to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature and reduces energy consumption for heating and cooling.
    Once the concrete has cured and hardened, the foam forms remain in place, serving as a permanent part of the wall assembly. The walls can be finished with various interior and exterior materials, such as drywall or siding, to achieve the desired aesthetic appearance.
    ICF construction offers several advantages, including excellent thermal insulation, improved energy efficiency, soundproofing qualities, and enhanced durability. It is also known for its resistance to fire, moisture, and pests.
    Overall, ICF construction combines the strength and durability of concrete with the insulating properties of foam, resulting in a high-performance building system.

      You can try applying, but they dont hire international student or architects as the construction here is way different.

      Good question, but the answer is not exactly here they need Canadian experience, I would say develop skills in softwares and try working on wood construction, how walls and system work here.

    Plz suggest what to do after bachelor in civil for working in construction field
    Masters in civil engg or post graduate in construction project mangement

    • @ArchiVlogs.
      @ArchiVlogs.  Рік тому

      If you are interested in civil engineering core services, then go for master or more specific masters in structural design. Construction management can be an option to pivot away from the technical side .

      Getting in to university will be tough, Gorge Brown college, centennial college or algonquin can be good option, you can go for construction management, civil bim industry by learning Arc Gis, or civil 3d and revit and take up bim course fron Gorge brown.
