    I’ve always rode tiny ass wheels. The biggest wheel I’ve ever rode was 50mm and I hated how big they were so I took them to a machine shop and had them use a lathe and shave them down to 45mm.

    As a new member of the snowskate community I am in the process of getting used to a bigger board after several years of riding 7.75s now I'm gonna try 8.5s. Might even try those tiny wheels. I think I've always skated better on smaller wheels anyways but skating around town isn't the best

    Not only is this man stable on the board he knows what saves money the big board i cheaper because no one rly rides that big of a board and boardy cakes are like 10 dollars cheaper than a spitfire or a bones wheel.

    In 1989 I had to slide my oj 2 freestyles from 57mm down to 40 mm or smaller and it took quite awhile, maybe a year of skating almost every day doing huge power slides and rotating the wheels every so often but after that they were tiny and wide and my favorite wheels to ride but bombing hills with them took guts and I ate it plenty, those were the days!

    I ride an 8, thunder hollow lights, 52mm bones, bones red bearings. But I'm contemplating going to a wider board just like you said. Might have to try an 8.25 or 8.5 but I'm afraid it's going to be heavy. I'm a pretty small dude.

    • @aidansteele9426
      @aidansteele9426 4 роки тому +4

      I usually ride an 8 or 8.25 because its not super hard to flip and its easier to land on, but that's just my personal preference

      I have riden smaller boards and moved to 8.25 and after 8.5 and I loved it, you can get used to every board size , it just takes like 20min and you can ride it same good like your previous board

    • @puma0210
      @puma0210 3 роки тому +1

      Wider boards like 8.25 have more room to land. But at the same time. U lose pop much quicker because they are a little heavier.

    i ride an 8.38 with 144 indy hollows with mob grip and spitfire wheels 52 mm and bones bearings i want boardycake wheels bc i like loose trucks but i always get wheel bite and i dont like riser pads either

    • @s.ibnihenry.abdullah2165
      @s.ibnihenry.abdullah2165 3 роки тому

      The board tou have now(or maybe I better should say had at the time you posted comment) sounds nice what kinds of setup did you skate before this one also how long time have you skated.? If you still have indy hollow trucks check out if it is eith forged base plates or normal baseplate as you said you didnt like riser pads but if o problem with a little heavier board then if you have forged baseplate now issue of wheel bite might slightly be less eith normal baseplate compared to forged because normal baseplate are s bit lighter than the normal ones also yes you can consider about changing to smaller wheels of course all theese things may help with regards to less wheelbite but also of course also change geometry (both with regard to wheels and baseplate and mostly with regards to the wheels there is bigger difference of geometry ) of the board so it will feel different and maybe little strange in beginning.

      @@s.ibnihenry.abdullah2165 i’m riding a wayy heavier board now 8.75 with 159 indy standards and 53mm conical fulls and the hollows i did have were forged so the truck was a lil shorter but i wouldn’t mind getting forged hollows again or just normal hollows with the standard indy baseplate since i’m so used to skating big boards now i was skating an 8.0 with thunders i forgot what kind but they sucked bc my friend gave them to me and some really worn out spitfires but i’ve gotten wayy better since i wrote that comment but i still ride loose trucks and get a lot of wheel bite but i just wax the wheel bite area i wouldn’t mind getting the same setup i had when i wrote that comment i would just get an 8.75 and 159 hollows bc i love big boards now

      i ride both 42mm all the way up to a 58mm and they are both pretty much the same. sometimes on rough ground its harder to get speed with 42's though i learnt how to skate curbs with big OJ 60s cruiser wheels
