    I’ve been skating for so long I really appreciate all the little details you’re giving. They’re all good. For example I really agree that you should remove the excess small circle of grip from the truckbolt hole. Next board setup I will try popping the griptape holes from the bottom of the deck and I will try cutting my grip without scraping a guide cutting line

    Another advantage Mob has over Jessup: it cuts really nicely. I always sand down the edges before cutting my griptape because I used to skate Jessup and that shit is so thin it just rips if you try to cut it without sanding it down first, and I just got used to the process. But Mob is thicker, and much easier to cut regardless of prep.

    Before you apply the grip tape, rub the rough side of tape on the wood surface. This will give the adhesive grooves to grip to. Clean the dust/debris off before applying. One applied, turn board on the side and use a zippo to heat the grip tape. Don't melt it, just heat it up. This will "activate" the glue. Do it in small areas and press the tape into the board. Should give you the best adherence

    When you cut the griptape flip them so the two clean factory edges are show on the deck. Or tack the grip on both tail and nose then press from the middle out to easily have one sheet.

    I tell you a little trick when gripping the whole sheet as you peel back the paper cut half the paper off so the griptape is now half sticky half not sticky. This will make it easier to lineup since half of it will not be sticky you can use that half to lineup on the skateboard perfectly while holding up the sticky part once you have it lined up press down the sticky part and then pick up the other non sticky part while peeling back like a band-aid the paper

    I've skated bones bearings a lot, but I went for some Bronson raws last time and I have a new favorite. You'd think they would need to be cleaned frequently with them being open, but they run dry so dirt isn't attracted. I haven't cleaned them in at least six months and they are still amazing. • @gawdlyinhale4203
      @gawdlyinhale4203 2 роки тому +1

      you really shouldnt be using jessup... first make sure you have a flat sheet of grip not rolled at all, that will make it 10x easier not to get air bubbles... second you need to take your bottom sheet from the grip and put it ontop of the grip and pound the shit outta it, or just step on it, then score it, then cut it out, then use excess grip to sand down the sides... you will never ever have air bubbles in mob grip doing this, ive lived in cold places like WA state and never had this problem before with mob, especially the air bubbles, mob has special perforated grip that literally doesnt allow for air bubbles unless you fucked it up, even at that take a razor blade cut through it and push it down if you do get air bubbles, not hard to deal with... skate the best

    I've always been a fan of Jessup Grip, I recently tried MOB Grip but like you said it's grippy as fuck. I personally like Grip that isn't too grippy, my reasoning for this is I fractured a bone in my foot and tore the ligaments of my ankle and ever since then it hurts a bit to flick tricks with my right foot(goofy skater) unless I'm wearing compression ankle braces/socks and having grip with less traction results in less strain on my tendons while flicking. Also, a bonus of using grip that isn't quite as coarse or rough, is that it won't hastily wear through your shoes. When I was a kid, I used to wear holes in my shoes to the point that all my socks had holes in the toe, entirely from doing flip tricks. There's nothing worse, than going to do a kickflip and tearing your big toenail on griptape lol
