These new Z’s..particularly the crashes…are much thinner in weight than previous generations. I can tell they sound much better because of it and this should make them more durable also.
Our Zildjian rep likened the new Zs more to darker, more aggressive A Customs than Zs of times past, which I think is an apt description!
They sound darker than the old gen’s and they seem lighter so I’m hoping they are more durable than the original production cymbals from the 90’s-2000’s
Dunno if I like the fact that they are lathed
HOLY SHIT THEY ARE BACK!!!!! 90'S VIBES
I've been rocking my old megabell for years. I guess I will now have the opportunity to get a new one
@@Mr.KingsThings this is medium thin or what?
These were not what I was expecting. I LIKE these a lot.
Was never a Zildjian guy, but I’ve always ALWAYS loved the sound of these cymbals
they all sound great
I fucking love this sound of the drums, missing that in actual metal and rock.
Came here looking for old Z customs and realizing theyre back lmao
I had this setup of Zildjian Z customs back in 2001: 17 Medium crash, 2x 17 Rock Crash, 13 Hihats all 1st Gen which I believe is their best Generation, I couldnt stand the 2nd or Z3 Gen, but this new line seems very very close or possibly near the same as the first Generation I had with Star prints rather than Paw looking prints. ( I like this new Z custom release.) I just hope the expand it with weight options as like before such as, Medium/Heavy/Light/Rock etc.. I guess its just the release so far we got all that to hopefully look forward to :) THANK YOU ZILDJIAN FOR BRINGING THEM BACK!!! Who agrees with me here? :D
Love that 20" crash
I played the 18" Crash growing up and really like the way both the 17" and 18" crashes sound in this video.
Really like the 17".
You had me with the Cry of Love intro!
I bought a pair of Z custom crashes after noticing Roger use them in Queens 1986 tour . Best crashes I ever had.
GREAT video!
Musical and lay together well. Sound versatile
Thank you
I played the 20-inch ride from this line for many years. A great, bright cymbal that worked well for heavier music.
Same here, still rocking it too! I always wondered how the other z custom cymbals sounded
They tended to have impressive cutting power. The new ones will probably sound a bit different due to the reduced weights, but still plenty bright. Would be curious to try them.
17” crash sounds the best
I’m excited about this. I was a little kid when Z customs were a thing but I could never afford brand new cymbals and probably wouldn’t have bought them anyway. I was kinda scared of them because they were so weird and loud. I own one now that I found in a pawn shop. It’s an 18” rock crash and it sounds like an 18” hi hat bottom. It’s not good but I had to have it. I always thought they were cool cymbals in a weird way. I think I’ll get some of these new ones.
Best zildjians i miss my old z custom ride it was destroyed in house fire.😢 great sound.
Incredible sound 🤌
The heavyweight of the zcustom sounds so good
ZILDJIAN❤❤❤❤❤
I had the Z Mega Bell many years ago. Sold it with the kit. Years afterwards I bought a new kit and got the A Mega Bell, since the Z was not available any more/yet.
bright sound
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Sensacional
Wow!!!
Does the 19” crash sound better than the 19” Z3 medium crash?
I prefer lighter crashes, so I definitely think so.
Mario duplantier can get a new ride now. Haha. I bet they brought em back for that
I prefer the 22 inch ride to the mega bell all day.😊
Hmm, honestly not liking the crashes that much. Sounds like they’re empty, but not hollow, they’re missing something I can’t really describe. Same with the mega bell. Hats and the regular ride sound really good though
Lighter? What's the point then? They have not been able to reincarnate the old Dyno Beat hats.
Exactly. If it's not heavy and thick like a bell then it's not a Zildjian Z series cymbal. It's something completely different. Probably very nice cymbals but I'll stick with the real deal. 13" dyno's are like nothing else and the 22" heavy ride is matched by no other cymbal imho.
Zildjian do still make Dyno Beats, but they got lumped into the A series when they discontinued the Z3 series. Still have the hexagonal hammering and everything.
It shows the hammered star in the ads ut you said they're lathed
Can yall send me one of those DW kits and Z customs to my house to demo? Please and thanks ❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤......
They somehow sound really good and really bad at the same time....
I agree. That mega bell doesn't sound good to me
Yeah, I understand. It’s like the wash sounds a little gongy still. The bell is nice though
The 22 is good. The 20 is ight. The hi hihats rock. The rest .... ..... ..... Ya....
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤠🤠🤠🤘🤘🤘
Aren’t these thinner than the original z’s?
Much thinner. And lathed.
So basically not a Z series cymbal then.
Correct, hence the name Z Custom
@@octavius428ball
@@octavius428ball original Z series was unlathed but Z custom and z3 were.
They seem to lack range
Exactly, they're thinner 👍
Meh…I'm a Meinl Classics Custom Dark Series kinda guy….shrugs
Maybe you'll eventually move up to a professional line.
😃
They all sound very good except the mega bell.
Where's the CHINAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA?
Better in compare with old Z but still meh
The Z3 sound better
I'd pass
Rides are decent, nice, and tingy, with good stick definition, throw the rest out. No drummer who actually takes themselves seriously should ever consider paying for these.
I have a full set some old some new they are great maybe no good for the pop music you play.
Exhibit A ☝️
@@redonred0924 link to your godly drumming please? I want to hear these perfect cymbals you have so i can see what my set is supposed to sound like. Much appreciated
Gotta love Zildjian. Them and Sabian are the only serious choice. Everything else is a trash can lid
are these the same Hi-hats that people use to make K/Z Hihats?
@@AtelierEphraim those would be the Dyno Beats, which were absorbed into the A line a decade ago. Still available!
Sounds awesome!
The Z’s are back
