The groove, as well as the opening and ending title styles are no creative. You've copied the style of Paiste Cymbal Morph video which has been performed by Josh Devine, drummer of One Direction. It seems that you've played too rushy and too quickly, so I can't pay attention clearly to the differences of all series. Because of this, I am getting tired and dizzy to hear it especially for the part when you hit the crashes several times (riding the crashes) and therefore... all those rides and crashes feel the same.
Better slow down a little bit just like Jared's demo here. Because he's playing pretty clear, I can spot the differences.

Dave Gods hahaha omg
Dave Gods wtf. This must have been recorded at area 51. lol but good catch.
Dave Gods yeah I like the ghost series
Probs Zildjian G series.
Ghost notes
Am I the only one who absolutely adores that snare sound
It do be BONKin tho. I watched this withmy laptop on my stomach and could feel the punch of it.
3:48 there goes my trust issues...
I don't get it and I don't care it's a 2 years old comment I need to know 🤣
@@alejandromayorga8614 ghost crash
@@alejandromayorga8614 The sound does not match what he is playing in the video
dude I'm not sure if he bought all of those but if he did that's like 20,000 dollars
probably was able to borrow them from a larger drum shop
yup.. Zildjian is WAY over prized for what you get.. there are other options that sound as good or better for much less.
Please give me some examples of cheaper/better options. I'm an old dog getting back in after 15 years. Looking at the A Custom cymbal pack, but I have an open mind.
@@Eagles.Fan.Since.Super.Bowl.52 check out Dream Cymbals, they sound a bit like zildjian K's and are a great value for their price!
Anatolian cymbals are worth checking out. They're super affordable but sound pretty decent.
K Zildjian Constantinople all day long, everyday for me. I've been lucky enough to have gathered a nice collection over my lifetime. When I'm gone they'll still be here and hopefully appreciated as much as I do. They are the perfect cymbals to my ears.
6:25 tough luck with that belll
It's cool when you want a slight texture change instead of a big ol ping
the A custom and S Series stick out for me, I really like them
I have A custom hats and this guy just made love them more, but the S just has the crisp sound
Just my opinion, but the older zbt's just suck!!! Maybe the new ones are better...they look more like the ZHT's (which are discontinued). The S series hats and crashes sound pretty good and will pass in most situations. The S ride (that my friend has) has an extremely annoying overtone that simply offends my ears and doesn't blend musically with any genre of music that I play.
Zac Drake I have all S series cymbals and they’re really good except for the ride, when I try to crash it has a super annoying overtone to it
with me is the A costume and S series that suits my taste .... i even have the cymbal package with the Zildjian S series with 16,18, 20 and hi-hat .... these are some really good cymbals ... .have also tried the K series ... but it's too dark for me.
@@majastergaard5596 I was not a fan of K Zildjians when I first started drumming, but they've become some of my favorite cymbals over the years. I do dig A Customs, and Zildjian did a great job on making the budget "S Series" sound good.
This is absolutely the best comparison video I've seen on these. I wish all the other companies would do them like this
In my opinion the S series, the K custom session and the K Dark sounded the best
A question for Nils Lesser.
Do all the mics have just a simple low cut or there's more to it, like different eq cuts for difference resonances here and there?

Its a bell
😂 me too movement
Came here to say the same haha
ElijahJohnson Drums Pretty sure it's a 6 or 7" splash.
my ZBTs don't sound anything like they do in the video
Holy crap, I like the A Heavy cymbals
True that. They don't at all bruh, they sound like trash cans which I don't want my cymbals to sound because I'll be like why the hell it sounds like that.
mike pk666 well there are overhead mics and I'm sure they add compression and eq later on
Andii Rejino That's true :/
The weight of the sticks, the mic placement, and the size and type of room all have an effect on the sound also
Super super helpful, especially for folks who are shopping around and experimenting with nuances of different sounds. Thanks a lot, man.
This was so helpful. Thank you so much. It was great to hear such a wide variety from the Zildjian.
The K Custom Darks and the A Avedis were my favourite sounding ones.
3:48 theres a crash without him doing it
I forgot to press record on the camera for this particular series and redid the video later :D sorry for that!
That was the new Zildjian Ghost series
Fake
I just got my Zildjian S series today. They sound great, but the 18 inch crash is just a little dry, but I know it'll grow on me because they sound amazing.
Well done Tobias!...this is a fantastic Zildjian demonstration video easily the best that I have seen on line!...as a long, long time, drummer I have to say that nearly all cymbal company demonstration videos are disappointing, including Zildjians', as are most shop demonstration that are posting on line...you have done what almost no one else does in that you have gone through the whole Zildjian series, played standardized grooves on, identical layouts, with almost the same size cymbals amongst the different series... well done you...I have subscribed to your channel and look forward to more of your video demo's...Oh and this is by no means an after thought, but love your playing too!
Thanks a lot Tobias for your time and effort to make this comparison video. Very useful. Some of the series of cymbals are designed for softer music like jazz and blues. Hope you make another video playing jazz so that we can hear the tiny details for which K's, Armand, Constanipole etc are designed for. Much love from India. Keep it up.
I have concluded
I’m buying a 20$ ride on amazon. 🥴
After reviewing it again my greatest challenge is we get told that not everything which sound crisp and good is good for studio,e.g ZBT's sound great but you'll never see Musicians using it except beginners
really good comparison, super useful, really explored every aspect of each cymbal, unlike most cymbal comparison videos. thanks
Great Video! I've watched it twice now, and love the comparisons! Thanks for doing this, it was perfect in my opinion!
hands down best video to watch if you don't know which package to buy.
BalanceWorks absolutely
Yeah, but it makes me wanna buy Paiste.
Just don’t buy zbt cheap ones the ride hurts your teeth when played and the crashes refuse to flex they are to inert and sound and feel dead.
The best comparison I have heard yet! I do love the "ghost" crash at 3:48!
Best cymbal demo video on UA-cam! Very helpful. Thank you!
If ur a good drummer like this guy, it doesn't matter what brand u play, ur still gonna sound awesome.
And probably broke.
Unless you’re playing those zbts. Jesus those were rough.
@@jacobcomiskey9597 What? lol. They sound good in this mix. Any cymbals can sound good recorded and EQ'd.
@@fartpooboxohyeah8611 a lot less good than the others in the vid though
I love the A series and I'm glad you went with the medium thins - What a great sound.
Great video demonstration and excellent consistent playing, perfect for this kind of review.
Im very thankfull for this video man, been watching this over and over. It helps a great deal!
Love how it’s the same beat from that old Paiste comparison video but shuffled around a tiny bit, love it!
Thank you, that was an amazing video!
3:48 where did that ghost crash sound come from???
I don't think Zildjian understands the meaning of "dark".
Will Gaines I feel you lol. Thats why i love meinl
Will Gaines they k darks sounds really damn dark especially the crashes
TheRoyalGamingIndustry not really. Check out some of Meinl's dark and dry stuff and you'll understand the true meaning of "dark".
Yeah. I'm sure that one of the oldest and most successful cymbal companies in history, the cymbal company that arguably laid the groundwork for the cymbal tones that we all use and other manufacturers make variations upon, have no idea what "dark" means.
SGriffinDrums Yeah, everyone knows that zildjian will never hold a candle to Meinl, the elite of garbage can lid makers.
This must've been a lot of work and it was perfectly executed. Thank you for this.
Amen true
loved the vid man. hard to find shit like this. nice job
3:48 ghost cymbal
At 3:50 there's a ghost snare hit too haha. Not a ghost note, a full on snare hit, but he didn't hit the snare.
Noah Powell yes there is! That's funny
Why tho?!
I like Zildjian Ghost series
true ahahhahah
Dude those toms sound amazing
Lol
The first 4 sets of K series crashes are the best sounding crashes in the business. It's like the initial harshness of a crash is gone, and you get just the sweet tone of the cymbal. So smooth to the ear.
Same with Paiste higher end cymbals.
@@fartpooboxohyeah8611old paiste is better. Never forgiving Zildjian for the Z power series…still my favorite brand though
so tired of cymbal demo vids where the player forgets the cymbal sound is the focus and starts jaggin' off all around the kit. Nicely done vid...clean, straight up, you let every cymbal do it's thing! Well done, Tobias...Thanks!!!
What a great comparison video, so well done! I'm going with the K Custom Dark as my favs! 👍
The K custom Hybrid wins for me
Spoder Man for the crash I like the k custom hybrid but for some reason I like the k high hats better...still can't pick out a ride
14 inch k high hats
(used to use a custom 14inch)
18 inch a medium thin crash
16 inch a custom crash
19 inch k custom hybrid crash
20 inch a custom ride
Spoder Man session!!
They are fucking sweet
Spoder Man best crash on the market
K custom hybrids will be on my rack soon 👍😎
Great comparison video. Does it ever give you the sizes of the cymbals?
Awesome video...been looking for a video like this for ages FINALLY
That’s the perfect drum beat to test each cymbal
I think I like the S series the best. They all sound good though.
Best cymbals comparation video out there! Great job man!
Very Very nice!!!!Thank you so much!!!!! Nice to hear the different sets with the same Drum Patter.
The same groove of paiste comparison
With a few added kicks and snares
that's what happen when u aren't enough crative tho
Let´s call it a simple beat, maybe?!
Tobias Derer what drum kit are you using?
DW SSC
Minute 3:48...where does the crash sound come from???
You altered the sound Zildjian....WTF?
I forgot to press record on the camera for this particular series and redid the video later :D sorry for that!
This video really helped me out! Thank you lots!
Great work man, thank you so much for this!
I thought the A ride was surprisingly weak. As was the Kerope and K. Zildjian at the end. Lots of good choices there thanks so much for doing this video!
2:17 - A Heavy. I Loved It.
gosh I totally agree with u dude
Specially the ride
Great video!! What kind of mics were you using to capture all these cymbals.?
That was really rad, mate. Do you know about something similiar about Sabian? I am contemplating between the A-series with the sweet 21 ride, and the AAX-plosion set.
I like the S series (has a more crisp sound) and A heavy
Anonymous Commenter a heavy all the way love the bell literally full erect
3:47 Wtf when he's playing the ride you can hear a crash being hit when he's not hitting any?
HE IS MATCHING 2 VIDEO CLIPS
Hey Tobias, I was curious about sizes, of the K Hybrids specifically. Great video! Thanks
One of the best comparison videos I have seen! Seamless
I love the K custom, A custom and the S series, the S series provides a great sounding cymbal for the price without going to brass and picking bronze
First off, very good video. My preference are Zildjian A's. To me, these have the quintessential sound that all cymbals are judged against. For the most part, Zildjian A's define how great cymbals should sound and is all I've ever used, although have played many others but own nothing other than A's.
Yup a full set of everything A would never be a mistake. For me I like the K hats a little more though. And if you get a chance listen to the 21" K sweet ride or a regular 22" K ride just amazing.
I clicked on this to see what modern series was close to the Zildjians I have recorded with since '67- before they had any names...!!! Just size and weight- couldn't really tell- but then again- it is more about the sound of the tip of the stick on the ride .
Best cymbal comparison I've seen on a UA-cam. Thanks
K Custom Dark is my favorite.
I like the kustom dark crashes the most, but I didn't hear enough stick definition on the kustom dark ride though.
I bougth a k custom dark ride and im disappointed because its to low in volume. I want to sell and bought another one.
@@mujiwaranojerry Yup that is always the problem with darks annd drys. There not good general purpose cymbals. The sound of them is good but it is to quiet for most applications.
@@ryanewalters but I notice my ride it's a k medium custom not a k dark custom. And another bad point it's the sustain it's little bit annoying. But listend the k custom dark sound great.
When I first saw this video, I though that the A customs were my favorite. However, those are my favorite by looks as well (love the brilliant finish) and so I hypothesized that maybe I had unconscious bias towards the sound quality. So, on another day, I listened to them without watching, and looked at what the set was after he played them. Turns out, when I can’t see them (so truly off of sound), K series is definitely my favorite!
It’s interesting how the appearance of the cymbals can unconsciously alter how I hear the cymbals 😂
K custom session in a close second but the ride isn’t quite as nice
@@WagnerBros Ive got that ride in 18 inch and ive never been completly satisfied. Problem is its too heavy
Just what I was looking for, brilliant, information is fantastic! Just subscribed
Absolut großartiges Video... welche S-Serie spielst du da? Die Rock? Und was tun sich zbt und zxt? so Long Daumen hoch...
Meanwhile, this man's drum style is amazing and literally the perfect way to test zymbals
Love my Zildjian S’s
What overhead mics are you using? Even the zbt’s sound really good lol
BEST cymbal comparison video EVER! Thank you! 👍🏼
they all sound good, obviously, but i'm partial to the new Avedis line. also, the ZBT's and the S Series sound excellent here (i've noticed that about some of the cheaper lines from all the companies- they sound pretty damn good when recorded)
Yeah, i have an old 18" Sabian Xs20 Medium Crash (natural finish) that sounds just amazing recorded!
Cymbal companies should start researching what is it that makes a cymbal sound great recorded and start making actual "studio" lines, specifically for recording purpose.
+seitsen in 2002 i recorded an album using a full set of Sabian B8's (i'm a Paiste guy, but that's what i had access to then). they sounded ok at rehearsal, no real issues, just ok. but to this day, they're the best cymbal sound i ever got on tape. and it wasn't some amazing studio, it was an empty supply room at a courier company. so, yeah, there's something about low-mid range cymbals that record like a dream
I have same cymbal...I use it for eighth note patterns just sounds amazing...but a custom is still king! lol
The K series and the S series are the ones that really get my attention. The A heavy were absolute trash.
I liked the K series also. Nice bell on the ride too.
Great comparison video Tobi!!! Well done =)
Really enjoyed watching you play. Awesome grove!👍🏼
I purchased the Zildjian S Series cymbals. Dude they are awesome!
I played a set of S series and they are really good cymbals. I prefer them over any K series.
3:46 magic snare listen carefully
Does anyone know anything about the 'Armand' series? I have an opportunity to purchase a 10" splash, but have never heard of that series before tonight...
Great job! Great playing! Was hoping to hear the K Mastersound 14 inch Hi-Hats
Zildjian K Custom Dark \m/
Anyone else have at least one ZBT cymbal when starting out?
I still have a China from that line :)
My crash, yes. I never had the heart to get rid of it
No
they were the "amir" line when i was young. great if you're playing a high school talent show.
what drum heads is he using? are they power stroke series by any chance?
hey man, for the K series, are you using a 17" dark medium thin & 18" dark medium thin?
fuck the cymbals I wanna learn to play that sick beat
is it weird that I really like ZBT ride ?
not at all..........this guy is a basher......and a heavy hitter...that series was designed with the more physical music in mind......so its shining in its preferred environment.....i was thinking the same
ZBT 22 inch rides also feel great to play
Blackie Mesa not my favorite ride but yeah it sounds great. Especially for a cymbal that cheap
Trust me when I say ZBT rides in person sound brighter than the sun. It's bad.
ZBT was my first set, they sound like shit and break easily. You get zero range of tones, perhaps this video has a lot of sound compression...and I expect that shitty sound for the price.
Love the format, but would you ever do other brands of cymbals? Would live to see Paiste and Meinl dome like this.
great video..been playing zildjian for 30 years and didnt know they had all those series..
I think the A series is the best sounding
Logan Swank me too.
For me A custom
Logan Swank I agree with you. So many to pick from. A Series are very versatile
Which hi-hat did he used in this video in A Cimbals???
yes, A series are all-around cymbals,....you can play any music on them :)
The S Series sounds amazing!
For the money they are epic!
Ehhh the only decent sound s cymbals in my opinion are the trash crashes and the regular 14” hats. The crashes and the rides are meh sounding at least to my ears, they have that annoying clingy high pitched over tones that paiste 2002s have
Sound like Paiste 2002's you say? Hmmm, aren't those the newer version of what John Bonham used? Interesting since his sound is EPIC. They would be a great and less expensive alternative to achieving the John Bonham sound. Hmmm, I'll have to take a closer listen. Thanks for the comparison :-)
john bonham paiste cymbals were dark and controled the 2002s are not based off of them
Sfm Dude, you’re so wrong. Do you even listen to Led Zeppelin? His cymbals are not dark. No one used dark cymbals when playing loud rock music back in the 60’s and 70’s. Dark cymbals don’t cut enough for such music 😂. But nice try. John Bonham played Giant Beats, which later became the 2002’s. They just recently brought the Giant Beats name back from the grave via popular demand. But they are practically identical. Research it.
Earned a sub.+ like! Currently playing on ZBT but saving up for an A custom. Thanks for sharing.
what cymbals do you guys think will mix the best I curently have a custom dark k 14in highhat with some dark cymbals? Im looking to brighten up my set
