at 2:15 ... Actually though... why is Lyn the first automotive journalist I've heard voice what I've been thinking for years about these stupid glass roofs with no power sunshade? Paying close to $100k and not having a power sunshade or electronic darkening option (thinking airplane windows) is actually INSANE and reeks of cost-cutting. GM, if you're reading this, this style of glass roof is a dealbreaker for me. I'd rather have a steel roof with no sunroof than a glass roof.
Android Auto and CarPlay are stopgaps that frankly probably do not have much of a future. Software stacks with full vertical integration like Tesla does it are only going to become more prevalent. That said, Apple's _new_ CarPlay (I doubt they'll end up calling it that, it'll probably be called "Car OS" or something) is going to be a full vertical integration solution, not a layer on top of the OEM's software like how AA/CP are right now. It will handle everything from the gauge clusters to interfacing with the vehicle's mobile network modem. Google is doing something similar called "Android Automotive OS"
@@onetwothreefour-s1n What am I a "fanboy" of, exactly? Everything I said was true, and the proof is right in front of you. The market trend is undeniable, and there very likely isn't a place for software layers like Android Auto or CarPlay when a fully integrated stack makes them redundant. Apple and Google both see the writing on the wall, which is why they're making CarPlay 2 and Android Automotive OS, respectively, which are distinct from the layer-based approach we've seen in years past. Hopefully you have a more thoughtful response next time. If not, I suggest switching to non-bunching panties.
Price is little steep for a lot of folks but at the same time my biggest concern is no apple carplay and Android Auto which is a bummer. It would've been so handy to get into this vehicle specifically. I don't know why they opted out. My biggest reason not to get it but overall it is an awesome truck for its price and range that is amazing.
Yes, the price is high, but so are so many other luxury EV's. I'd think of it as a luxury truck for status and lite truck use. Towing really isn't practical with these vehicles. Yes, you can, but should you?
People like to say towing is not a thing because it is a EV. The real answer is that it depends. Most people are not towing across the country. EV’a have so much torque that you almost don’t feel what your towing. The max range version of this vehicle can town 300 miles on a charge.
I just don't understand who these are built for / how they will sell these at that price. All the bells and whistles are cool, but it makes the price unattainable for most.
Gm managed to make the most compelling ev truck option on the market but made it too fucking expensive for the average consumer and isn't giving us apple car play? Cmon....for 100k they can afford to pay apple for the car play licensing
Mini-coopers have traditionally worked some magic. So much interior space in such small cars. I've always wondered why other car companies don't try and replicate that magic. This car looks huge, primarily because it looks like the engineers made NO effort to be efficient with materials/layout/size of components etc... I'm sure this truck could be at least 10% smaller, which would translate to (hopefully) to 10% less expensvie.
Who has the $$$ to buy vehicles like this?! And I'm not just talking about EV's. There are ICE vehicles selling for astronomical prices and they keep on selling!
This is just tank, GM went wrong with EVs, there is no point just putting bigger and bigger bateris to get range and so making EV big and heavy 😢😢. Great review keep it up with great work 🤟🤟😍💪
To be honest, the reason why US automakers are failing. Is because they forgot their roots. Making AFFORDABLE and DEPENDABLE(somewhat) Vehicles. Ford specially, though GM isn’t far behind.
@theloversDeAyer plenty of full size trucks out there for under $50k. The problem is people can't help themselves and want to option up which Jack's the price up quickly
8:23 you know I’d be really handy inconvenience is if they put it on the driver side instead of the passenger side those couple adventures that you have to reach while driving could be a safety problem or basic distraction. They should have a lot of the certain buttons that are over on the passenger side on the driver side and those two parts on the driver side are empty and will not allow you to put any in which was a mistake that GM should’ve not of missed because they could’ve given you the opportunity to put one pedal breaking and then your I don’t know remote for your garage door because when youcome home, it will appear on the passenger side not the driver side, which doesn’t make any sense you should have stuff that the driver needs to touch on the side of the driver. Point blank.
New car prices are starting to get to the point where people are wishing things were just build a little closer together and we had good public transportation. Lol
Wow. I love the utility of the mid gate. But I don't think I'll use it really. I got my 22 Lightning for $93k when they gave tax credits which makes it much easier to own. Without it, I don't know if the additional features are worth it.
Hell no, too damn expensive. What happen to EV saving gas? If i gotta pay this much for an EV, the money I overpay that's enough for me to buy gas for 10 years
Not a vehicle for the masses. They will get some sales from people who can afford these trucks then it will drastically fall off. I'll bet on that. Ford Lighting was the same.

Called GMC and they wrote me a letter saying buy back claim denied. This does not get anywhere near 300 miles of range…400miles???? Yeah right.
Why would they have someone who doesn’t drive trucks reviewing a new truck? She keeps talking about how big it is but it is only a regular pickup. Saying it would be unbearable to drive such a large vehicle without 4 wheel steering? What are you even talking about? This is the smallest one that would even qualify as a truck, almost every other truck is bigger than this and they don’t have it.

I think there's some government requirement for average feel economy, which these vehicles help regardless of whether they sell. They got to know theyre not gonna sell any.
I mean at least Ford was smart to base their Lightning on the regular F-150’s frame, cab and bed configuration. Probably a lot less R&D and if it goes bottoms up it’s not as bad as investing a crap ton in a bespoke EV architecture.
Just remember the incoming president said he will be discontinuing the EV tax credit. ($7,500). So you better think about getting it sooner than later.
