there is something in the music of this add that only animals can hear. my dog never watches tv, but immediately pays attention when this add comes on.
Maybe because it’s an old hymn about the Lord God making all the creatures great and small! “The Ox knows it’s owner and the donkey it’s master’s crib” ISAIAH 1:3 When the Lord was born in the stable the animals knew who He was! The Creator! Our Rabbit is comforted by the NKJV audio Bible. They know God, it’s a shame most human beings reject Him because if they admitted He exists and admit they have sinned then that means they need a Saviour and that Saviour to save them from their sins is Jesus Christ. I was a chief sinner and when I made a mess of my life and turned to God He saved me- I am living proof of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He has transformed me! I no longer live in sin and I don’t try to work my own righteousness by religious sacraments or ‘good deeds’ it was His sacrifice on the cross and reading the Bible and believing what it says and trusting God that changed me. I used to keep our rabbit in a cage and I was very selfish - I spent time with him when I wanted to, kept him in a way that was most convenient for me, I was so selfish. But Jesus changed me, I stopped being so selfish and he opened my eyes to other people and animals. Now our rabbit free roams and has a wonderful life. I’m pretty sure he is very grateful for what God has done in my life because it improved his life dramatically and everyone else’s around me. I can now love people and animals properly. Hallelujah!
I loved watching this ad when I was a child. Especially the cheeky wombat. Was so rapt my son has also been able to experience the ad as a child with it being re-screened years later. Its a timeless message that I hope his child will get to experience too. Gotta love and respect all the work by the RSPCA and what they do for the animals on Earth.
Timeless ad for sure and it's hard to believe that it's 31 years old?! But I sometimes question if the RSPCA are as legit as they once were?! I sure hope they still are...
31 years old!! Damn I feel old I still remember seeing that ad when I was a kid it would have been about 13-15 years old when I first saw it around 6-8 I think I’m now 22 and still remember seeing it almost every ad break
Our 1 year old border collie absolutely loves this ad! She watches tv just waiting for it to come on. Its funny when the ad comes on and she's not in the room, she hears it, even if she's sleeping and comes running as fast as she can from anywhere in the house. Her favourite is the wombat and she kisses it every time! XD
i recently saw an America SPCA ad which showed a snow leopard with its paw trapped, I can't watch it because its very upsetting so as soon as I hear the music for that ad I have to turn away. In contrast, I think this RSPCA ad is a clever way of delivering the message without making viewers turn away.
This is one of the best ads I’ve ever seen. It’s creator deserves an award. Not one word spoken, yet the message is clear: All animals deserve respect and care. The reluctant wombat (?) at the end is the icing on the cake. Great job and I remember lots of people talking about it when the ad was first released
Can anyone remember the old RSPCA commercial where it was a young couple about to have a baby, then they the have the baby and things aren't working out so well for them "normal stress of a new born" that they can't cope and decide to put the baby in a box and leave it the park? then when the camera looks down at the box its actually puppy and the song playing is "Will you still love me tomorrow" Can anyone remember that and if so where can I find it!! It was a very emotional commercial in its time.
I was just telling my 10 year old about this ad, and that I remember one animal takes a step back or something, and I'll see if I can find it. Thanks for uploading it!
FYI the tune is "All Things Bright and Beautiful" is an Anglican hymn, also sung in many other Christian denominations. The words are by Cecil Frances Alexander and were first published in her Hymns for Little Children. Written in 1848
Used to see this as a child and it still sticks with me today. Just showed it to my cat and she was like wtf when the elephant walks by, then wanted to eat the rooster and the wombat haha
In NZ over 20yrs ago there was an advert with animals and native animals to NZ for Telecom (now telstra I think) I remember it distinctively as my Nana's cat followed the animals around her box TV to see where they went.
This is so great. The best part I think is so cute is the cute little wombat coming and going back twice and then running after everyone else at the end. :D
Remember the toy commercial from RCPSA were they were parents and the kids with a puppy and then when the narrator said "And when the fun is all over he is easily stored away" the kids' dad puts the puppy on a sports bag and throws it away?
Omg I’m 13 now but when I was like 3-6 I get my mum and Dad to yell out “the ad’s on!” I’d run down the hall with my 3yr old sis (at the time) and we’d be like “OH MAH GAWSH LOOK AT THE LOTTLE CHICKENS WOAH THE BIG ELEPHANT WHAT IS IT SQUAHEES THE CHUCKEN NO COME BACK CHICKENS AWW A BUNNY” XD
THIS is how "SPCA"-style ads should be -- focus on ANIMAL CUTENESS!!! ..... the ads in America focus on the torture etc, but it makes them impossible to watch so it's somewhat self-defeating :(
All things bright and beautiful, All creatures great and small, All things wise and wonderful, The Lord God made them all. Each little flower that opens, Each little bird that sings; He made their glowing colours, He made their tiny wings, The purple-headed mountain, The river running by, The sunset and the morning, That brighten up the sky. The cold wind in the winter, The pleasant summer sun, The ripe fruits in the garden, He made them every one. He gave us eyes to see them, And lips that we might tell How great is God Almighty, Who has made all things well.
I had a dog who LOVED this ad. If he heard the song from another room he would run in to watch it. R.I.P. Chopper 😢❤

The only two animals that could still be alive from this ad is the elephant and cockatoo. Such a good ad!
The wombat in the end, called Walter, is still found today in a zoo.
Still my favorite ad after ALL these years. Love it! Still remember it even though it is 2018 now.

The purple-headed mountain,
The river running by,
The sunset and the morning,
