i had vhs and cassettes until 2011, which is just wild in its own right
My dad bought a new VHS player days before the last company who made them shut down.
I was born in '03 and had a TV in my room when I was little. I remember spending my evenings with my sister watching VHS tapes. Rewinding tapes, parts of the video looking a little off, specials that were recorded years prior. Scooby Doo Where are You with "bonus features", the original TMNT and the live action movies, Big Blue House, that one Barney Christmas Special we would watch year round. Now you can't find any TV that plays them anymore. Not cheap one, anyway. We still have a bunch of tapes but can't do anything with them. It's kinda sad, knowing I'll probably never get to watch those movies again. They're right there, the movies and TV shows I loved, but I can't do anything with them, so they just get more and more dusty.
Sorry for the long comment, just feeling a little nostalgic. We really did live in the end of VHS but beggining of DVD era.

Every generation feels this about their time growing up, so it's likely nostalgia plays a large role in this belief, but everything felt so much more simple in the early 2000's. Social media didn't have a crippling influence on social culture, people were usually a bit more down to Earth and friendly. Everyone could take a joke. Social gatherings were more the norm. People seemed a bit more friendly then too. Maybe it's because I was born in '98, but I feel like we've lost something important within the past few years. Especially when COVID became a thing. We can never bring back the days we had growing up, but we can try to make the present and future better. Maybe even as good as those days!
As someone who came of age in the 2000s, the jokes always flowed downwards, and I don’t blame people for telling y’all to eff off now.
Born in 99, I don't think everyone was down to earth though, a lot more people were back then sure, but there were so many aholes and people who'd never open up their mind, anyone not fittin in social norms turned into an ostracized weirdo. these days being a weirdo feels more okayish.
@@kiwimusumeyea most of the jokes are racist and everything else now n days u have to actually be funny to tell one and not so many people like that

Ah, I hate the fact that I used to look forward to being an adult. I’m starting to take on all those responsibilities. Being born in 2002, and watching this video brings back nostalgia. The nostalgia is real rn.
The most gut-wrenching part is that these nostalgic feelings we have for things will die with us, and the newer generations will never share in these memories.
But that means that they were allowed to live thanks to us in the first place. Let's appreciate it with all our heart!
Yeah man, and these are really good memories too, they are what brought us joy and give us nostalgia now, which is a good feeling because we remember what made us happy and excited, it’s sad these memories will die soon, but we can still cherish them while we’re still alive

Me tho😂
Rip 20th century fox intro. You will be missed😢
I was born early 2000s, and man, does that hit hard. Vibing to Mario kart, Wii sports, and in general, everything, hit me hard. I miss the 2000s, it was great.
this is all making me realise just how much simpler times were back then
Agreed 👍
Only because you had no interest in the more complex matters of life. Blissful ignorance, is the phrase I think.
@@sonofliberty8872 yes ignorance is bliss, but now I’m stressed and mentally unstable and I miss it
@@baker8981 I think he means that people back then were different from how we are now. For me people are just so fake now, and the genuine feeling from back then is gone.

Wow, I miss my childhood. Being a 2000s kid was EVERYTHING
Honestly, being a late 2000s kid was the perfect time. Early 2010s and late 2000s was when culture on the internet was the best.

The video dvd one is gonna be engraved in my soul for forever man
As a 2008 kid I hardly experienced the 2000s at all, and yet most of this still hits hard. And for some reason I feel like... since I was so late to the decade, I'm wrong for being nostalgic Ig??? Ik it's silly lol
This is so real 😭
The fact that the PS2 startup wasn’t the first or last thing is a crime. The fact it’s not in there at all is unforgivable
I was really hoping to see it too
Ya! WTF OG Playstation and PS3 but no PS2?? Arguably the most iconic start up sound of any console!
@@adamturley7626 I would argue that the gamecube takes that title
I have no idea what the PS2 startup sound is 😂
Agreed, it's literally the best-selling console of all time and everyone had one. Thumbs down.
"You would never forget these"
Me who had forgotten them and almost cried how different things have become, sillier in a matter
As i read this the halo music came on
@@wreckingballjones1179 same
The THX will forever be haunting and we all still have no idea why
I'm pretty sure I know why, it's because it's noisy
I could listen to this blindfolded and still know every single sound in this video. That’s an insane level of nostalgia.
It's amazing how everything had a song before, and that a whole generation can recognize them
I feel like anybody at any birth year should know about the Pixar lamp.
i did especially because when i was 3 i used to literally loop the movie Wall-E, which started with the pixar lamp
And 20th century fox

Man... The world was so much more wholesome back then
What changed? 😢
of all these the wii sounds/music are the ones that make me feel so nostalgic for some reason
I almost cried, cause of how far back everything was.
Same
Same. I look at some of them and wonder how long ago it was. Maybe a month ago or two months. And then I realise it was almost 2 decades ago
Me too T-T
Same here.. but now the only thing we can do is keep moving forward. At least we have these fun times to look back on.
same i broke down hearing the smash theme
The THX sound always gave me such anxiety, even if the volume was low. There’s something about the crunchy chords and fact that there’s chords moving up AND down that creeped me out. It always sounded like a buildup to a horror movie jumpscare.
I get what you mean. I heard that sound from the movie Over the Hedge and the fact that the moment in the movie that sound played, the characters were supposed to be quiet as they're sneaking around but one of them accidentally turned the TV on from what I remember.
Yep. Always hated that sound.
Same, even now I'm still afraid of it.
I KNEW I WASNT ALONE ON THAT!! My dad relentlessly mocked me over it for the longest time!!
Omg me too, it's like the soundtrack to a nightmare
I actually cried, as a 22 year old grown ass man, this takes me back
Ty to whoever put this together for our comfort and to reminisce as we are living our stressful life’s in this now sensitive world lol.
I still have a "Cars" dvd that uses the repair guy THX logo.
I use it to calibrate my surround sound system to this day.
PERFECTION
Ooo that's really smart!
'Cars' was the first DVD I ever owned, I believe it was a birthday present. I've still got it, though I don't know how well it'll play the movie. I think I was either 5 or 6 back then, didn't realise the concept of looking after your possessions, to ensure they work as long as possible, back then.
Since then I've collected hundreds of DVD's, I think I might be rivaling or surpassed with my Dad, on my collection. I think the last box set he bought was all seven movies of the Harry Potter collection.
For as long as I can, I'll always choose disc over streaming services such as Amazon Prime Video to purchase TV Shows & Movies.
So long as you look after your Discs, they'll be around longer than streaming services.
