- It's my final day in Finland and I finally convinced @JessePynnonen to join me on screen for a challenge...
In this episode we're at a place called Ravintola Karhunmäki...or Restaurant Bear Hill, if Jesse's translation is accurate...taking on their Mies Vs. Ruoka challenge! It consists of ten chicken breasts, three large cuts of strip steak, three large cuts of pork loin and three servings of a side of your choice. If you can finish it all inside one hour, the meal is on the house and they give you a €20 gift card too!

Tonight it’s the last of the episodes from Finland and I finally got my good friend Jesse to scoff along with me, under the watchful eye of Finland’s strongest man!

@@h.l9635 To be fair to Jesse he is also far from his best eating wise. If i recall correctly, in Jesse's video of the same event he said that he hasnt eaten a large quantity of food at once in 4months.

Man i really like the finnish guy. Hes calm, usually collected and seems to be a real pleasure to be around. Must be amazing to have him as a buddy.
There’s something strangely heartwarming about an absolutely massive man in a Cookie Monster shirt.

@@Beardmeatsfood Finland isnt part of scandinavia, like we belong to totally different language family then scandinavian countries, but i think everyone understood what you ment :)

@@MrSabotage77 They even shop up as a separate DNA origin as well on a DNA test. My brother had his DNA thing done and they had Danish\Swedish as one category together and he had a separate Finnish category all to itself as well.
@@MrSabotage77 A small part of Finland is in the Scandinavian mountain range which makes that part more Scandinavia than Gotland, for example.
The way Jesse's "LESSSGEDDIT!" makes Beard laugh is just so wholesome. This has been my favorite channel since I found it a few months ago. Was delighted to see there are years of vids for me to catch up on.

BeardMeatsFood has honestly become my absolute favorite content creator of all time. I've never even cared for food challenges in the past but Adam just makes these episodes super entertaining. It's got traveling, humor, the sense of competitiveness and he's just a fun and charismatic bloke.
I very rarely comment on videos but you really deserve the kudos mate. Hope to see your videos pop up for many more years.

As a Finn I'm more than aware that our culinary can be a bit dull (on a broad sense, not in this specific challenge) but if there's one food-related hill that I'm willing to die on it's this: Finland has the world's best potatoes and grains.
Those creamy & garlic potatoes look so good that I can almost taste them! Personally, I like to put an almost illegal amount of blue cheese in the mix too.

Are they kinda like thin mashed potatoes?
Yeah you mash some potatoes and just keep mashing until they're basically liquid. 😂
Is blue cheese like a staple in finnish cooking?
@@maxthepupp Its usually sliced potatoes drowned in cream and garlic and other seasoning and then put in the oven. I like to put in blue cheese also.
Depends on the household. Some people love it some people absolutely hate it. I personally love it and put it in alot of foods. @@Jeremy-ff7gv

I've been around Finns when i lived in the UP in northern Michigan. The males are large and the females are much smaller. Thank goodness they are mostly gentle giants. When the weather was hot they seemed to disappear. When the weather was miserable cold they were out in numbers especially out on the frozen lakes. Sounds like a stereotype but it's true.
No lies were told in this comment, we hate being hot and sweaty. When its cold you can just put on more clothes. Most places dont allow you to walk around naked....which is another thing we do during summer just to piss of our neighbour having a garden party next door.
It’s mostly true. I can’t stand being too hot. Which is absolutely weird because we and I love sauna
@@Reladan187 I was there in the early 80's stationed at the air force base but i lived in Marquette. Loved every minute of it. The Finns are fantastic people once you get them to talk. Not a chatty people until you get to know them. I had intended to stay and live there forever but the job situation back then wasn't good with the mines mostly idle. I think the UP is gods country. So beautiful. I haven't been back. Mostly because I couldn't bare to see any change. I want to believe that it is exactly the same.
Yea we are not chatty by any means. It’s real quiet and reserved for the most part. But once the talking starts we are open, honest and very chatty. The ice just needs some breaking. I was born in the late 80’s so I can’t really say what it was like, but I will say this. The people are most probably still exactly the same, just more buildings
@@Reladan187 Me and a couple of my friends spent most of our free time trying to fish every little lake we could find. Met many new friends out in the middle of the woods. So many of these cabins had sauna's on the shore side of their boat houses. They lived there during the summers. Beautiful people. We would travel old mining and logging roads and find old towns mostly ghost towns. One time we were logging for firewood in a national forest where you could buy a permit. We ran into an old vietnam vet living in a tarp house. He was not happy to see us at all. I had run into bears while exploring but it was never as scary as that interaction. Lol. But the UP was full of adventures.I miss it.

Absolutely enjoying this tour around my home woods, and I love that Jesse's along for the ride! I'm a big old foodie but I genuinely had no idea we had so many food challenges.

Been great to see you branching out abroad. Would love to see you in Japan at some point. Lots of big eating challenges here and some interesting food that would be different from another English breakfast challenge. Love the content
He would need someone local to organize that kind of thing as there is laws there in Japan where shooting video in restaurants can be illegal what I have heard.
@@Wezqu very true but it's been done before. They almost always require a reservation and will often allow it before opening hours to avoid issues. It's tricky but just like this Finland series it's possible I think and would make for some great content!
@@Wezquhe could always get in touch with Chris (Abroad in Japan) who's done a lot of those challenges himself. He's English too, so would hopefully able to do something for Adam if they were both amenable.
