Speaking as an Irish woman who has had bowls of just mash and butter and salt almost every week (more than once a week too) I beg to differ. There are those of us out here who do LOVE mashed potato and if anyone tried to give me only 2 scoops they would be in big trouble lol

@@journeyoflife9159 I eat a fair bit when that is all I am having but don't get me wrong, I don't eat those large amounts every day and I don't eat them in those amounts as a side. Also, I only add a splash of milk, a nob of butter and some salt. Generally here in Ireland that is how mashed spuds are served. We don't add cream of any kind or a cup or more of milk or any cheese, just spuds, a tblsp or so of butter and less than a quarter cup of milk. Plain simple mashed potatoes :)
Man, I'd almost SaD for a good sized serving of potatoes right now! I can't order any because it's almost midnight in a small town and I don't have any potatoes. But after seeing this video, and drinking an excessive amount of tequila, it sounds amazing!

All the driving and what some would call the minutiae you do is underrated. 4 hours driving to a challenge, almost burst your stomach with mash while being affable and funny to the staff, order dessert, then a 4 hour drive home. You deserve every like and sub Mr. Beard.

The discipline to under eat and fast, and days of just green tea impress me to no end. I wish I had that kind of strength, it would suit the way I like to eat, heroically like this, a few days a week, lol
I don't feel like Beard needs to apologize for not being festive enough. I feel like he's always got kindness in his heart the whole year round. It's one of the things that keeps me coming back. I love to see it when they have a sense of passion in what they do and in their challenge. Not like these places that intentionally sabotage or seemingly don't want people actually ordering the challenge meal.

A BIG THANK YOU to you and everyone involved in the process of making the video to benefit those people that have suffered a stroke/strokes!! This is a subject very important to me and my family as my husband suffered a hemorrhagic stroke 11 years ago on his birthday (December 11th, 2012)….in 2019 he suffered 2 more strokes; Only because of God….he had a successful cardiac ablation in 2020, with amazing doctors and nurses and his strong will to recover we just celebrated his 62nd birthday, our 43rd anniversary and we’re looking forward to celebrating another Christmas and New Year 🙏🏻❤️ God bless you all 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻

London Parsley Liquor was originally made from the water used to boil jellied eels, it should be a rich, salty, oily stock which, when mixed with parsley (or other herbs but parsley was most abundant) made a uniquely flavoured sauce to put over pie and mash.

I hope I can try it one day. The last time I tried Pie and Mash with liquor was at Goddard's in Greenwich London. Everything was bland, including the liquor. The lamb and mushroom pie with gravy inside however was a little bit more seasoned than the beef pie.
SO, absolutely disgustiong then... Much like London itself.
Mr. Beard it is always SO MUCH FUN to watch your videos...but it is even MORE UPLIFTING to see how humbled and generous you are. A very Merry Christmas to you. Cheers!

I just downloaded the song, Thanks for raising money for such a worthy cause! My husband had a stroke 2 yrs ago at 55. It’s changed our lives entirely but thanks to all the wonderful help and therapy he’s gotten, he’s much better than he was initially. ❤ I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!

'The thing about mashed potato is nobody really likes it'. Mashed potato is one of my absolute favourite foods.
he should have used the spoon to scoop the mash spuds on top of the pies, potato top pies are so good, and also would have nullified that burnt pastry taste on the pies

The liquor was originally made with parsley, flour, and the juice from the stewed eels. Being a southerner I was raised on this.
