Evening all! I trust you’re all doing well…
I couldn’t make the trip to Sweden without seeking out a meatball challenge, so that’s what’s on the cards tonight.
I’m presently trekking through the lush green forest of North Carolina, so if I’m less active than usual in the comments, I apologise.
Thanks as always for watching and I hope I’ll see you next week.
Cuddles, BMF ❤️
Evening mate ❤
You’re the 🐐 Adam
Morning mate, you are a legend man!!😊😊 I really love all of your video
Evening Beard! ❤
😂😂😂😂😂
HECK YEAH! Meatball challenges are always well-rounded.
😂
I see what you did there
Nice 👍wish I knew how to write that sound that the British guy makes in that meme. The one where he's talking about preserves. That would fit well here.
Stop it, lol
Ahh I see what you did there….🤣
But don’t ball them up in one challenge though🤣
Beard is the only eating challenger I actually enjoy watching. He tastes his food, (perhaps not always at the home stretch) and you can tell it's more than a job to him.

I'm glad you liked the food!

Swede here! I can confirm it's a very traditional thing here to combine savory meats and sides with sweet jams or even jelly. Based on the weather I'm guessing you've been done with Sweden for like 6 months now, but if you ever want to re-live that classic Swedish flavor combo, meatballs with black currant jelly and boiled potatoes (and optional gravy) is another certified classic.
❤❤
Gravy is not optional.
In fairness it’s a bit like apple sauce with pork gravy, cranberry with turkey gravy, berry with chicken. Love the tartness of the fruit that cuts through the savory. Absolutely delicious. Looked bloody lovely. ❤
Hard to get lingonberry here in UK, find cranberry sauce works quite well tho😊
@@lisapinfold506 Pretty sure IKEA sells it in most places!
As a swede I'd have to say the combination of lingonberry jam and brown sauce is what makes these dishes. We pretty much always have this combination in our traditional swedish cuisine involving meat and potatoes.
Yeah you are right, brown sauce and lingonberry jam makes this dish
We do sweets and sours together with savoury in Denmark as well.
Anyway, having the potatoes mashed is almost cheating.
Swedish meatballs are almost like eating gyoza. You just keep going until you realise you've had too many.
As a Swed i don't agree, to hell with the ligonberry! :D But it's tradition and should be served.
@@P_X_H_ 😄 Danish tradition often dictate red currant gel for old fashion beef roast or game... my preference is "whatever jam I have in stock" 🙄
For meatballs it's not super important... but i still like a little bit of sweet to give the dishes some variety.
@@BenjaminVestergaard We got that jelly thing too here in Sweden. Black currant jelly if i remember it right. My old mother use to eat that and claimed it was a Swedish thing. Never like that either. I don't like to mix sweet with salt, if its not candy 😄

So fun watching you visiting my country! I've been following your channel for some years now as well as some swedish eating competitors, but I've never heard of this place until now. I will be sure to visit it and give this challenge a go.
Also nice side-arm shot in the mirror. You look hella buff with veins and everything!

You can totally do it, I believe in you
Gotta love when restaurants come up with a challenge that isn’t a burger or a pizza
They have a lot of good food 👍🏻
I like how he doesn’t rush! You watch any other eating channels and all they do is mention Adam’s name and whether they can beat his time. He’s not bothered lol
Yeah, the reason is since anyone that chases records would have to be disgusting while doing it. UA-cam competitive eaters usually aim to look as aesthetic as possible while eating. If they don't do that most people would not watch them. We can watch him, Randy Santel, and Erik the Electric with no issues. Then there are people like molly schuyler, that make me want to hurl as soon as they start eating.
I'll never forget the doughnut challenge from a few weeks ago. You don't realise just how casual and tidy his normal food challenge mode is until he gets given a real speed challenge and flips into the competitive machine he can be when he wants.
You got me there mate ❤

Meatballs, mash, lingonberrry jam a cream sauce and pickled cucumbers is the real swedish way. :) It looked really nice and during summer there is often a long queue outside that place. Great you seem to be enjoying your trip top Sweden.
Yes, the cream sauce !! A cross with beef gravy and cream. I didn't like it. Go to a bit IKEA. They serve that shit in sauce. Most people where I lived in Lovissa were Swedish. Finland's food is even worse !! After just meat and cheese a a few local dishes staying at Degarby, I went to Lidl. The salami was so cheap even with reindeer. Nice one Adam !! That was some pretty funky music to start off the video, and if it's not the funkiest, it is for sure in the top 3. I don't think I've ever had Lingonberry, or quiet honestly even heard to this one and the Egg Cake video. Looks amazing though, even though it does look simplistic as well. All of the challenges looked just incredible and delicious, but it does make sense to do a Swedish Meatballs ones, don't even recall seeing many meatball challenges. Not necessarily a Sweet berry dip, but sure you've had or heard of Sweet & Sour Meatballs (sorry for assuming, just to me it seems to be a common thing where I'm too - Canada). Not only did you crush it, but you also set the new record, congrats on both. That medal does look really good though. You never cease to impress with the challenges, it just an awesome time seeing you crush these challenges Adam, keep up the amazing work. Cheers.

Meatballs with lingonberry or cranberriers in lack of first are absolutely delicious. I can't or won't eat them without lingonberries anymore. I usually go pick them myself in autumn and make some jam form them. Lasts very long time in a fridge and goes well with many things.

Ah you got the sweet lingonberry, we have three camps here in Sweden those that want the sweet one, the ones that want the sour version (lightly boiled with about a quarter of the sugar content and still have semi-whole berries in it) and those that can't stand it :D hope you enjoyed our weird little corner of the world.
The sour version sounds amazing. 😋
I’m in California so have only had the ikea version lol
@@sarahjane4908 I think IKEA has frozen berries so you can make it yourself. Mix 1 part sugar and 5 parts frozen berries. For a more acidic version, hold back a bit on the sugar. Let them thaw together and stir occasionally. The sugar will dissolve and mix with the berries. No cooking required.
In Finland the sour version is more popular, and those who don't like it know better to keep their mouths shut ;)
Made light work of that one, I appreciated the Ronnie Coleman quote at the end too. What a legend
Mash and meatballs with gravy and lingonberry is just great. So much better than you'd think. I wouldn't mix the berries into the mash though. It's more like a palette cleanser when you've eaten a bunch of the other stuff. Take a spoon of the jam, get back into the mash and balls.

Good job! As a Swede I'm obviously used to the sweetness lingonberry sauce bring to a meatball dish, but sometimes you can have the less sweet "rårörda lingon", where the berries haven't been cooked. It's a matter of taste, of course, but regular lingonberry sauce can definitely taste very sweet - especially when commercially made. I haven't really thought about it until now, but the most commonly used swedish name for it is "lingonsylt", where "sylt" translates to jam.
I'm german so I absolutely understand - Preiselbeeren are perfect with canned pears and a hearty meat dish with, especially game around christmas. I also love having noodles with Preiselbeeren and (beef) Gulasch.
We finns like it same way. Meatballs and especially game (reindeer, moose) with sweet & sour lingonberries . Maybe more sour than sweet though. And ofc potatoes and gravy. omnom.
I watch your stuff exclusively while I’m on the toilet…. It helps!
I look forward to you hitting up their other challenges. It's a shame they didn't give you the milkshake as a parting gift to enjoy on your drive! Also, at least here in America, one of our fave party dishes for tailgating or New Years, etc, is Barbecued Meatballs. Basically just fresh made or even frozen meatballs in a crockpot with BBQ sauce and grape jelly. So I can see how the lingonberry would just give them the extra touch of taste.
Craving Swedish meatballs now. Damn! I actually really like the frozen balls I buy at the IKEA store, the gravy mix and the Lingonberries here in the Midwest/US.

pretty sure you can find frozen lingon att like any ikea. the make a jam with them but it's supposed to be a bit sour not very sweet.
@@neko6990 I have one not too far from me. I’ll have to check. Thank you
Thanks so much
@@neko6990 Actually, even better, they usually have jars of prepared lingonberry jam at IKEA - lingonberry is almost like a slightly sweeter cranberry.
The mashed potatoes and the creamy gravy can be very heavy and the lingonberries are supposed to be sour-sweet so it's a very nice contrast to the quite heavy food. Lots of lingonberry jam you buy from the store is a bit too sweet though so the effect goes away but if you make your own you can put just enough sugar in it to cut the worst acidity.
