When Goose scratched Fury's eye, my mind went all the way back to that one line: "The last time I trusted someone, I lost an eye."
And I was like: "WTF!! He wasn't talking about how he trusted a guy who later backstabbed him, he was talking about how he trusted a cat not to scratch him." Was very disappointed.
@Diego Negrete I mean it's good for a little chuckle, but it really takes away from the character of Nick fury.

From Nick Fury to Nick Joke
I disagree, the film clearly showed that Fury used his experience and the classified (hush-hush) of it to elevate himself in the eyes of his co-workers like Coulson. He knew that he needed people to think highly of him and then he could take advantage of it.
The badass Fury is just a mask. It is just another tool in his arsenal to defend the planet and the whole.
Abhinav Kumar yea I thought the cat scratch was just a reference to Nick’s injured eye. Like an in joke “Ok his face was scratched here but it’s not actually how he lost his eye is it?”

It whas the stupidest thing in the movie
I dont think that the cat scratch fury gets in this movie and the scar he has in the future are the same they look completely different from one another the cat scratch was just that a scratch that probably healed in no time where as his eye in the future has one deep slash and looks like it was hit with poison or some type of acid. I think the cat scratch was just a funny foreshadowing joke

Honestly I just assumed this movie was going to be bad for an mcu movie it just doesn't feel right
Edit: saw it now, not as bad as I anticipated but not groundbreaking
King Cam I feel like the mcu is at a point where no one movie can ruin it. The mcu survived incredible hulk, iron man 2, and Thor 2. Captain Marvel is either going to add or do nothing negative to the mcu

Let me just ask this because I'm curious if I was the only one who caught on to this:
Did anyone else feel the movie was intentionally vague about whether or not Fury lost his eye so on that if people didn't like it they could easily say he lost it because of something else.
I say this because at first Fury said it was fine and wasn't all that bothered about it at Maria's house. Also it could easily be said that what he had on it the ending was just a bandage and that Coulson was joking with him about the glass eyes.
Mike Noir It probably is just wishful thinking but I honestly can’t think of a reason why that scene felt so vague. It’s like the movie itself wasn’t sure if it wanted Fury to loose his eye because he plays it off like it’s nothing and is never addressed at all.
@@CoreyAdolfi Its a joke. Fury doesn't even need a glass eye. His eye is still in his socket in Winter Soldier, it is just dead. Its a band aid.

I thought that Captain Marvel was an incredibly satisfying movie. Even though it had some plot holes (or somethings like that) it was still very easy to enjoy it.
It actually filled out questions (where the tesseract was in the 80s-90s, how fury lost his eye, how the avengers got their name, carols origin etc)
I'm ok with how the movie went it's her first movie ever with a role like this I have faith that her second movie will be great

@@ddd22895 I mean, I don't agree with that, but by far, the best Thor movie is Thor: Ragnarok. They needed to find what kind of a character they want Thor to be, and they found it in Ragnarok. I actaully really liked Carol, her personality and the movie in general. But, to quote Shuri:'' Just because something works, doesn't mean it can't be improved.'' I'm excited where will they take Captain Marvel.
@@Marta-uv4id there's one big difference though, people actually liked thor prior to the movies. Also chris hemsworth did a good job as the character regardless of the how the movie was. The movie can be sub par but as long as people like the character and actors portrayal of the character it can work. Look at iron man 2 or the first captain america

I think that the amnesia arc can work pretty good like Wolverine in the old X-men-movies. He is also pretty overpowered but he is a figure you can in some parts identify or understand why he is doing what he does

This is probably the most relatable review I've seen of this movie, outlining the lack of clear emotion from Brie Larson and the farse of Nick Fury's patch, but I think people still are overlooking the shoving of the tesseract into this movie from outta nowhere
One of my main gripes is that the movie seems to focus too much on her being the hero and not enough on becoming one. It seems like they had a good idea of where they wanted to go, but just rushed the third act. It told us that when pushed down, she got back up, but not how she got back up.
Still, it's a decent film. It's not one I'd rewatch often, but enjoyable.

At first i thought the same thing about Fury's eye but as I started thinking about it kinda fits Fury's character. I mean in Avengers we get this emotional scene where Fury brings out Coulson's bloodied cards to say he believed in the Avengers and they reflect about Coulson' death and about themselves and we later find out that he lied about it just to bring them to their senses. So the whole eye story is something Fury would lie about. He would use his own eye as a prop and lie about it just to make a point.
If that really was the case they would have told us, the audience. Not everyone would come to that conclusion on their own. So it is still bad writing.
I dont think the cat scratch he gets in captain marvel and the scar he has in winter soldier are the same they look completely different from one another and one was just a small scratch
I really liked Captain Marvel, but I can't wait for End Game!!!

Honestly I loved this film, it's officially one of my favourite MCU films.
There is a strong character development, a relatively strong villian, an awesome supporting cast, the CGI is good enough and the film is overall fun.
Solid 8/10, definitely wasn't utterly perfect though.

i really liked her as a character and i’m excited for how she will be involved in end game, and it was cool to see her and fury interact and how it was fury’s first interaction and relationship with a extraterrestrial superhero, but the movie itself wasn’t super amazing

Diego Negrete yeah there isn’t a continuity error with the tesseract. It was found in Norway by Red Skull, then was found at the bottom of the ocean by Howard Stark after Cap went under. So the SSR/SHIELD had it since WW2
Diego Negrete yeah it takes place like 50 years before this movie. In The First Avenger they find the tesseract in the ocean at the end of the movie after it teleported Red Skull to Vormir
Diego Negrete Dr. Lawson was a part of Project Pegasus, which utilized the tesseract, and she took the tesseract to her lab for further testing. MrSundayMovies made a video all about the tesseract timeline
Despite its blunders and shortcomings, it has brought captain marvel, not Ms. Marvel even but Capt, to the general public and for that I will always be grateful

This has been the best review I love it because I know the character, but I have the same feelings when you bring up she had to play confused the whole time never feeling fully angry or sad, except that scene where Maria tells her who she is that was a good scene

Like it's distorted somewhat, yet my mind automatically thought I'd misfired at a wall without moon-gel on it for a second hahahaha I need to re-play both Portal games...

I'll be honest, I didn't know your channel until this video, so I saw the other video about CM after this one. So I'm curious:
Aside from what you discuss here, where do you stand on the points you mentioned back then?
Personally, when you talked about the trust earned by the MCU in regards of how Carol will factor into Endgame, all I can think is "I consider them smart enough not to have her be the deciding factor against Thanos, but I also thought they were smart enough not to have Fury losing the eye to a cat". You are 100% right about why that devalued Fury's characterization.
In fact, everything pre-established that CM touches is devalued. Fury is no longer the calculating leader we knew him to be. He's the guy who knew for decades there were powerful aliens, but didn't prepare his top agents (like Widow and Hawkeye) for an alien invasion, even as he planned to put them in the team intended to deal with alien invasions.
Ronan was never a fascinating character, but he was the first entity we saw stand up to Thanos. He murdered The Other, who Loki was terrified of, in Thanos' presence and didn't think twice about it. Now he's a coward who turned tail at the first sign of Terran resistance.
The Tesseract was a dangerous item. It melted through steel, it burned or teleported those who held it, unless they were truly powerful, like Loki or Thanos. Now you can toss it around and put it in a tin lunchbox.
SHIELD, already known to be more competent at the time of the movie's setting, failed to prepare for external threats, even though they had super scientists, including the one that used the Tesseract to make weapons for Hydra in the 40's, and didn't think of doing anything about it until Thor showed up.
If this movie was, as RLM puts it, Laser Lady, it'd be ok. A decent cast with ok performances, except unfortunately for the main actress. A regular story with passable action. But as part of the MCU, it drags everything down.
At least that's how it seems to me.
