I am a guy learning crochet to cope up with my anxiety and depression and all other videos on UA-cam are confusing .. thank you so much for helping me to learn crocheting. Your videos are simple & precise ✨ Sending love and blessings to you from india🇮🇳 May you continue to grow ❣️
I love how you talk to us like you’re talking to a 5 year old but without being condescending. Hahaha I’m being absolutely serious because you are one of the first....crochet tutors? crochet professor?...crochet professors I’ve come across in years that doesn’t either make me feel like an idiot, or working in such a way that I have to rewind the dang video 400 times. Or BOTH. 😶 Plus I get so excited when you congratulate me. Even if it’s for doing nothing more than exactly what I’m supposed to be doing 😂 Gold Star! ⭐️🤍 Gracias Professor!! 🧶😇
You are absolutely professional without making me feel inadequate. I must compliment you for the manner in which you teach. Thank you for going slow with us beginners. I've been looking for a basic tutorial on crocheting and stumbled on your video. I'm difinitly trying this soon. Thank you. Greetings from South Africa.
Dear Marly, I have been trying for hours and hours to start a simple crochet blanket for my sister's new baby (ok, her new kitten, but close enough) and was about to give up frustration when I came across your video. Yours is the only video I've come across that carefully explains which exact gap the double stitch is being worked into. Thanks to your video, I am now four rows into a very cute blanket! Thank you!
Oh and also... I absolutely love your “congratulations you just did your first single/double crochet.” Your voice when you say it and the way your eyes smile actually made me excited for myself and so proud because the way you say it is so genuine it’s almost like you were actually here congratulating me haha.. thanks so much for your helpful video! I’m about to go check out some more now ☺️ I’m officially addicted to crocheting!
Thank you for your wonderful tutorial. I had a “bucket list” item of teaching myself to crochet. This pattern is wonderful and I now have a beautiful blanket. I’m UA-cam self taught and I’m thrilled to be able to cross it off my list.
I picked up crochet literally two days ago, never have I done it before and I didn’t know how to make a chain or anything. I came to this video immediately because I wanted to dive right in and go from not knowing how to do anything crochet to making a blanket. And i started it and finished it in two days with your video!
My grandmother taught me to crochet/sew during summer visits when I was 7 yrs old. I must have been a very patient little girl & her a patient teacher. she made beautiful blankets for the church. Those memories with her have stayed with me all my life.
this is the first tutorial I've seen that actually takes the time to STOP and SLOW DOWN and SHOW what you're supposed to do. I've been watching videos all morning and I've just finally finished my first row of chains. THANK YOU
I have been crocheting for a while and you are great!!!! No one has ever said not to make the chain too tight until my mom had told me and you covered that. You are awesome!!!! I wish your video was the first that I had ever watched. You do the best teaching that I've ever seen. I've seen people who tutor a lot of patterns and they are hard to keep up with and impossible for a beginner. I have never seen anyone cover everything that you have. You are so spectacular!!! Thank you so much!!! After crocheting for over a year, I learned so much more from you
i dont understand why this video has ANY dislikes like this is the *most* helpful video for crocheting. i had looked for hours to learn how to crochet and just about gave up until i found this video and now I'm making tons of crochet projects.
When she goes to double it's way to fast. No matter how many times I pause and try to figure out where I am I end up pulling it all out and get lost at the same point
I made an awesome throw from this video! It’s so easyyyyyyy. You don’t need too much concentration once you get into the rhythm of things! Marty does an amazing job at explaining crochet for beginners!
Thank you so much. My Mom passed away last year, and I asked her if I could finish her blanket. I have no clue as to what the pattern is called. I just know I had to start somewhere and learn how to crochet. I've been loom knitting for two years now. However, her blanket was not created on a loom. So thank you again for your awesome video and a warm tone teaching voice.
I saw an afghan made with this stitch several years ago and have searched high and low for how to actually make this!! I am so excited to FINALLY have found instructions on how to make it!! Thank you so very much!!!
I was really struggling with crocheting until I watched this video. The way you explain it and show each stitch really helped it click for me and now I'm fifteen rows into this pattern when I could barely single crochet yesterday! Thank you so much for this video and I can't wait to watch and learn more from you!
I restarted crocheting about a month ago after a 20 year hiatus so I'm really having to relearn everything. Your videos make it so easy to follow and get the stitches right. Thank you so much!
I have been wanting to learn to crochet for months now. I’ve watched so many “beginner” friendly videos and none of them worked. Every video I watched said don’t give up but the videos were so hard to follow. Until I found this!!! I’m so happy so say I’m almost done crocheting my first blanket. Thank you
I'm in the middle of making this blanket as a gift for my girlfriend! I'm using a normal thin peach yarn to have it more detailed and it's a nice project to work on when I come home from work to relax
Just found you, thank God. I'm a beginner trying to find easy to watch and understand the process. Thank you for showing slowly and explaining. I'm going to make this blanket. Thanks again for your tutorial. Excited to crochet now.
Marly, I thoroughly enjoyed this. Not only did you do an amazing job of going slow, being very detailed, but the praise you gave, and the video where we can see your face makes this feel much much more personal. I haven’t been having much luck from other videos. But I actually completed a full throw blanket. A million thanks!!!
This is the best beginner's video I've watched where my rows look like I'm crocheting! The first two rows were never ending but by row three...I was into a rhythm. Thank you for this wonderful tutorial.
This is by far the easiest blanket to make. While I was reading the pdf, I wasn’t sure about the edging, so I watched the video. This helped tremendously! Thank you for the video and easy instructions. I will definitely be following!
I love your videos. And this beginner blanket is great. I love it. I was so glad to see you explain correctly weaving in the end tails. Most tutorials don't instruct to send the needle through the yarn fibers, but rather to go through yarn openings. Anyway I think you are a wonderful instructor, so clear -- with simple explanations. 😊
Ive been trying to learn this past week with other you tube vids and you have saved me. I didnt want to give up and your instruction is the best thank you
I just started to crochet 3 days ago . Everything I learnt has been on you tube . I started with dishcloths and I have to say this is the easiest blanket . I’m a visual learner and this video is perfect . This blanket is easier than crocheting dishcloths !!! I’m only on row 6 but so far I’m loving how easy it is . Thank you
OMGOODNESS! I am soo happy and excited that I found this video tutorial! I have never had such clear instructions from a crochet video before. I've tried many only to be discouraged because I never knew how to create my gauge. Marly explained it! I had absolutely no idea that the wider part of the crochet hook was used to keep the stitches the same size! 🤷 WHO KNEW! lol Now I am soo excited to crochet again! Something that simple has made a world of difference for me! Thank you!💓
Can I just say, this is the BEST video for a newbie! I've watched quite a few videos already and wasted a lot of practice yarn on complicated patterns for beginners... I wish I had started with this one! My practice run came out so good, I turned it into a scarf for my daughter! Now I will make throw blankets with confidence for her and my new niece coming in January!
Watching the video made me so happy 🥺 it's currently 2 am and I've been trying for the last 4 hours how to do it properly. This video was really helpful and she would always congratulate us, it was as she was actually happy for me :( thank you for this❤
Thank you so much out of all the other channels I did my first Crochet 🧶 because of you 😊👍🏽👏🏽 I wanted to give up so easy but thank God I will not give up. Thank you 🌻
6 years.... 6 years off and on that I have been trying to teach myself (through youtube of course lol) how to crotchet. Each and every single time I've tried I managed to do a single stitch and then after I reached that point everything was just happening so quickly and made no sense to me and I just sat there staring at my screen with the most confused look on my face before I gently set my work down and walked away from the yarn and crotchet hook "for good" lol. And now I have finally found you and I'm actually in the middle of working on my 3rd row and I could not be more grateful to you! So thank you so much for making it make sense for me 😁
Beginner here. Just finished this throw. It turned out so nice! The instructions were so easy to follow along with, and I loved Marly's personality!! Thanks so much. from NC
This video is great. I finally understand what I was doing wrong with the single crochet. Was anyone else repeating her instructions to themselves? “Yarn over the hook, pull up a loop, yarn over...
Great video. It was very informative. I decided to make this my first crochet project and I made a throw for the end of my bed. I used 5 skeins of yarn and it took me 6 days all together. Super fun and it turned out great!
Thank you for this video! First one I found where I understand each step. I completed my first crocheted blanket, and I’m gifting it to my sister for Christmas!🥰
I just learnt to crochet about 7 days ago and on my 2 blanket. I watched my grandmother do it when i was a kid. I love your tutorials. Ive watched alot, yours are the best imo. Tyvm
just ripped up 3 of my first blankets because i kept messing up and i have gone 10 rows with this tutorial and not messed up at all and it looks perfect so THANK YOU!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I have watched so many videos where I just couldn't understand clearly the correct moves but this video has finally convinced me I can give crochet a go
This is an excellent video. Everything is perfectly explained and while it does repeat things you already know if you've been crocheting for at least a few weeks, the commentary doesn't get annoying. Also, this has the best explanation for weaving in ends I've seen. I haven't been able to find a good way to weave the ends in!
after starting a project and forgetting which stitch I was doing I re-started a new blanket with this pattern and absolutely love it ! It's super simple, works up really quickly, and looks so beautiful ! I'll definitely be doing my next baby blanket with this same pattern :) ~ self taught (from UA-cam) crochet'er ~
Just did a little swatch last night and I actually got it to look nice. This was very easy to follow along. I can’t understand reading a pattern so watching this really helped
I'm a long term knitter but I was determined to learn crochet and nearly gave up until I watched this video. I'd watched another for this blanket and just couldn't follow it at all. I've just completed my blanket and can't wait to learn more, thank you
Following this tutorial step by step. You are AMAZING!! I’m annoying my husband each time I get to a new row showing him how excited I am 😂❤️😂 thank you SOOO MUCH for taking the EXTRA time to put these videos together for us. I’ve never crotched before and I’m so proud that this will be my first!
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you! Your video is the absolute best, your instructions are very clear. I can't wait to start a baby blanket for my friend's baby. Now I'm confident it will come out great. In the past I made one for my late husband, he thought it was great, he was a great man. The sides were never even, I didn't like it. I was embarrassed. He told me I made it with love and that's all that mattered to him. Sorry about going on and on. I'm so happy I found your video and I subscribed. Looking forward to all the rest.
Hey there! I have a crochet group if you would like to join. Feel free to post pictures of your work :) facebook.com/Blissfully-in-love-with-crochet-patterns-and-CALS-614702069031770/
Thank you for this video! currently trying to figure out how to make a new, cozy blanket for my little sister (I’m 18 and she’s 16). I promised I’d make her one once I got good enough at crocheting but now she’s sick and I haven’t had much time to practice crocheting because of my college work. She recently got covid and has pneumonia on top of that, so I wanna try and cheer her up. I have of course been avoiding in person contact to protect myself and my partner and everything, but I want to give her something because I obviously love my sister. I practiced this with an old ball of yarn I have from my mom, and it seems fairly simple. I’ve practically mastered making coasters with double crochets too so I figured a blanket with double crochets should be nothing :D Now all I have to do is pick up some yarn in some of her favorite colors.
I’m so glad I searched more videos because I was about to single crochet this whole throw blanket and I was like “there has to be more ways to do this” (first time ever crocheting and this was so helpful! Thank you 😁
I’ve been at this crochet thing for DAAYYYYSSS.... and I haven’t been able to figure it out for anything so I gave up, but I’m sitting here nursing my 3 month old baby boy and this video was recommended to me and I’m so glad it was, you explained so clearly and so patiently That I’ve gained confidence to pick up the yarn and hook and try again. Thank you!!! Btw I’ve saved this video to my favorites and I’ve subscribed!
Congratulations on your little bundle of joy! I'm also a beginner in crocheting & being a visual learner its difficult to find "tutorials" that actually Explain & Show each step: Like this one! Have fun
This video has serious helped me so much I want to cry! (We can also blame that on postpartum emotions lol) I'm 28 and haven't crocheted for at least 10 years. I've been trying to make a blanket for weeks so I can pass on my forgotten knowledge to my 6 year old daughter. Thank you so much for this!
Finally! Watching you I’ve finally got it! I was determined I was making my new great grandson a baby blanket. Now I think it’s going to happen! Thanks so much!!!
Thank you Marly your video was the only one I found that explained what to do clearly now I’ve finally made a blanket my first time ever! I have never crochet before and thanks to your video I was able to do it.
I'm new to crocheting and and just now starting to learn how to crochet. I have a friend teaching me how to plus I watch alot of UA-cam beginner videos of crocheting.
Just finished this one. My first time since I was a kid crocheting. The first part (where I started the blanket) is smaller than the rest. The rest of perfect. I made the beginning stitches to tight and loosened the rest over time. Oh well. Still came out fine for my nephew. Thank you for the tutorial and my next one will be perfect.

Thank you!!! First time trying to make a blanket and this video helped me alot, it was so simple and easy to follow along I managed to get in completed in a week 🥰
I've been looking for a good instructor, I almost set my needle aside for good, but then I came across your video. Thank you for being clear and concise. Great instruction. I am going to finally finish a project!
First time crocheting and you made it so easy. Your tutorial is by far the best .... a believe me I went through many until I finally found you. You take your time and explain everything so clearly. Thank you. My future granddaughter's blanket turned out gorgeous.
Finally! A video that is truly for beginners, yet not condescending! I'm absolutely new to crocheting, and this video is amazing. Thank you, Marly and please make more videos like this one! :)
This is really helpful. I've been been struggling with crochet for a while now and I'm able to find a way about it watching this video. Thanks so much ma'am.
thank you so much, I just started to crochet and other videos are so complicated for me, you made it so easy for me and now I'm starting to make a blanket!
My new fav channel. Thank you, Marly. Banged this off in less than 5 days as my 1st EVER crochet project! Needless to say, I'm HOOKED! You've got yourself a new subscriber and I cannot wait to see more of your videos 🧶 👍👍

Gracias Professor!! 🧶😇
You made my day!
I agree completely. I love crocheting and I'm the newest of beginners, I don't learn very easily so this was perfect for me! Super Gold star! ⭐

Dear Marly,
I have been trying for hours and hours to start a simple crochet blanket for my sister's new baby (ok, her new kitten, but close enough) and was about to give up frustration when I came across your video. Yours is the only video I've come across that carefully explains which exact gap the double stitch is being worked into. Thanks to your video, I am now four rows into a very cute blanket! Thank you!
Alot of tutorials tell you where next st goes .
How man skeins for a baby blanket?
You’re the only person I’ve found so far that goes step by step like this thank you so so so much 😭
You're so welcome!
@@MarlyBird I agree
I agree. So many other videos say beginner and they go so fast.
Rhonda Reis Yay! Good for you! I’m getting ready to try this! This will be my first project! 😊
Nice! How long did it take you?
This video is great. I finally understand what I was doing wrong with the single crochet. Was anyone else repeating her instructions to themselves? “Yarn over the hook, pull up a loop, yarn over...
:)
I bought velvet yarn. I’ve been practicing on acrylic yarn for 2-3 days from the dollar tree. I think I got the technique down, excited to start this!
I completed my project. It came out beautiful. Well explained instrution. This is my 4th crochet project since september 2020.
Thank you.

Great job!
I have watched so many videos where I just couldn't understand clearly the correct moves but this video has finally convinced me I can give crochet a go
Trying to teach my daughter and came upon this video. This is great! I think she will pick up on it quickly after watching this. Thank you!
Love your hooks.
I’ve watched a lot of videos on crocheting but you’re the first one I’ve seen to thread the yarn on your fingers and hold the hook the way I do.
By watching this beginner crochet video I made my first throw blankets thank you it was so easy to follow along with you to make it
after starting a project and forgetting which stitch I was doing I re-started a new blanket with this pattern and absolutely love it !
Hello. 4 years later and I 'm wondering if youre still crocheting? Also, I bet the answer is yes.. but.. did you ever learn to read a written pattern?
I'm a long term knitter but I was determined to learn crochet and nearly gave up until I watched this video. I'd watched another for this blanket and just couldn't follow it at all. I've just completed my blanket and can't wait to learn more, thank you
You should check out my Bicrafty series. I teach knitters how to crochet :)
You do a really great job of making it clear as well as keeping it interesting. Thanks!
thank you.
Yes she really do. This is the best one I have found to follow so far.
Thank you so much.
"Marley bird you make my day as a bigger I learned 1 2 3 lesson
Very nice tuto
Following this tutorial step by step. You are AMAZING!! I’m annoying my husband each time I get to a new row showing him how excited I am 😂❤️😂 thank you SOOO MUCH for taking the EXTRA time to put these videos together for us. I’ve never crotched before and I’m so proud that this will be my first!
Truly you’re a blessing.
Thank you so much for your patience in giving instructions for us beginners.
I've been wanting to crochet a blanket for a while now and this was very helpful. Thank you!
Awesome tutorial!!!
Rows one to three did my head in! Lol just rolled after that. ( first timer here) thank you so much. ❤️
Thankyou so much for this! Never crocheted before and already a quarter through a blanket after 1 day with this video!
Thank you for this video, some are so hard to follow this was easy to follow. Thanks for helping the learning 🙏
This was so incredibly helpful. Very clear, and easy to understand.

Finished the throw was super easy video after years of trying unsuccefully to crochet I cracked it and totally love it thanks Marly 😀
You’re welcome 😊
That is so cool😃 Your sister is very blessed.
I’m so glad I searched more videos because I was about to single crochet this whole throw blanket and I was like “there has to be more ways to do this” (first time ever crocheting and this was so helpful! Thank you 😁
You are so welcome!
I love this pattern…easy to make and it “grows” quickly. I come back to it over and over for blankets. Thank you!😃
I’m considering picking up crocheting for the cold months ahead. I’m a beginner so this is a perfect video to start
I'm also a beginner in crocheting & being a visual learner its difficult to find "tutorials" that actually Explain & Show each step:
Like this one!
Have fun
Ahhh you don't know how happy I am that I finally found a video that actually thought me how to do it
Love this, just learned anew pattern!!! Ty
You’re very welcome
Finally! Watching you I’ve finally got it! I was determined I was making my new great grandson a baby blanket. Now I think it’s going to happen! Thanks so much!!!
Excellent teaching. Thank you for showing how to do the border.
