  • How much horsepower & torque does the PHEARABLE Stage 3 off the shelf (OTS) base map ECU tune make on an otherwise stock 2019 Honda Accord 2.0? How much horsepower and torque can you gain from simply adding the KTUNER ECU tuner - let's find out! We put our 10th Gen Honda Accord - a 2019 Honda Accord 2.0 Touring project car on a DYNOJET dyno to compare both our baseline dyno numbers (link below), and the KTuner Stage 2 ECU tune (link below), to the Phearable Stage 3 ECU tune to find out if Phearable's performance claims are accurate. We'll routinely dyno test our 2019 Honda Accord 2.0 Touring as we embark on our Honda Accord's modification journey - next up, a custom ECU tune, PRL intercooler, PRL high-volume downpipe, you can help decide...

    I really do appreciate you taken your time to switch from prl air intake to stock intake I know that takes a min to do and we all appreciate you spending your money to do all this for us from dyno testing to purchasing stuff that may or may not work or gain any hp or torque. But as what I saw from your video stage 2 is a better way to go I’m thinking the best step would be a custom tune to get the most out of your accord. at the moment I’m still with stage 2 with k&n air filter and my car moves! Can’t wait for your next video to see if u gain or lose power!! So I know what to do next to my accord. Thank you so much for your hard work!

    I'm so glad you posted this video and keep the Accord community so informed! I too, have a Phearable Stage 3, an Injen Performance Air Intake, and a Hasport 62A upper torque mount installed. It truly and absolutely moves.
    I recently installed the performance air intake, mainly to hear the turbo better not for actual gains, however, with this stage 3 tune and then adding the air intake, I definitely noticed more power!
    The torque mount helps quite a bit with wheel hop. I was honestly expecting to feel much more vibrations in my cabin, but honestly feel very little. It's a worthy investment, though fair warning, Hasport is very behind with orders, my mount took over 3 months to get to me.
    I've been running my Stage 3 for about a year now while completely stock and just added the air intake and upper torque mount, the difference is definitely noticeable as well. Just something I'd throw out there in case anyone is looking to upgrade their Accord.

      I agree! Jb4 comparison would be nice, I’ve been running jb4 on 2020 2.0t sport 10-auto since 20K miles and now at 68k but the last 10k miles or so I’ve been adding 1 to 1.5 gallons of E85 with 91 and helps out with knock control quite a bit otherwise knock is very high on these accords even when with slightly pushed…but it’s a lil expensive like ~$650ish. Maybe and just maybe I’ll give my jb4 to lemon factor (for some dyno pulls perhaps 😊) when I move onto phearable stage 3….but they’re days when jb4 stage 3 is sublime!!

    • @TheLemonFactor
      @TheLemonFactor  2 роки тому

    • @snriver1089
      @snriver1089 2 роки тому +1

      @@TheLemonFactor regarding knock levels, they spike up to as much as 0.75ish when full pedal to the floor (and that’s with 1 gallons of e85) but otherwise stay around 0.49-0.50…. However if I don’t add gallon or so of e85 and just stay on 91 alone, they’re in the mid to high 0.5’s upto 0.60 or even a lil higher when just normal driving around town but as soon as get on it (full send) they go up to 0.7’s

    Love the video, thanks for the info. I am running catless downpipe, Hondata E30 tune on a 10 speed. To help with traction I went with Michelin PS All Season 4 tires 255/40/19 on stock rims. Also installed a manual trans. upper motor mount, it's stiffer than the automatic motor mount. A small amount of vibration when I first installed it, but after a few drives it seemed to settle in and not noticable any more. For handling, I installed an Eibach rear sway bar, that along with the new Michelins made a dramatic difference in handling. It is even more fun than before.

    Do you think the ecu was reducing timing/boost as a result of the 91 octane? The ecu makes adjustments when 93 vs. 87 octane is used. I'm so used to old school turbo tuning. Timing/boost/afr. Set your afr, turn up the boost and fuel. Go! The GN loves cold weather! I read where Honda and late model turbo cars want consistent performance in hot/cold & sea level/high altitude. Just my .02 cents! The Phearable Stage 3 is a hot tune and really needs quality 93 to perform at it's peak.

    • @TheLemonFactor
      @TheLemonFactor  2 роки тому

      No, not at all. The K.cont and K.count readings were very solid. The data logs look great, and the pulls were very consistent. With that said… results may vary. I think I’m able to get away with it, because of the fact that I’m at high altitude with less oxygen in the air.

  • @87gn93
    @87gn93 2 роки тому +1

  • @benseidman8806

    My only gripe with the stage 3 is pricing vs what you gain isn't proportional. Stage 1 & 2 are free via the purchase of a ktuner, stage 3 is almost $200 on top of the purchase of a ktuner and 3rd party. @ the cost of stage 3 you could have applied that $200 into a custom tune and got a superior product. Stage 3 is still off the shelf but a high price tag. Now if this was $50-75 I'd say go for it but @ $200 anyone considering purchasing a tune should honestly consider going custom

    • @TheLemonFactor
      @TheLemonFactor  2 роки тому

      When comparing the cost to a custom tune, maybe, but compared to other mods like an air intake, downpipe, front pipe, exhaust, etc it’s a better ROI.

    • @benseidman8806
      @benseidman8806 2 роки тому

      @@TheLemonFactor that's debatable, if your talking about a straight HP/TQ gain sure but if we're being honest and covering every gain including things like IATs, airflow restrictions, ect probably the greatest ROI mod for the gen X with or without a tune is either the PRL or moshimoto intercooler especially given the numerous cases of mystery limp mode activation any time there's mist out, hard rain, or other weather phenomenon that causes water buildup in the stock intercooler causing limp mode that none of the aftermarket intercoolers are subject to throwing the car into limp mode during these situations. They already recalled the RDX intercooler for this issue but have yet to do the same for the accord knowing it's a common issue

      I've heard of many people running the tunes for several years now, without problem. I think it depends upon how much you push the car. If you're always hammering on the throttle with WOT runs at peak boost, it's certainly not going to help reliability, as you ask your turbo to put out more boost than what was originally programmed by Honda. It's also important that you make sure to put a high octane, and high quality fuel in and watch your K.cont for signs of knock.

      I honestly wouldn’t beat on your car if running 91 with a 93 tune you can drive it just don’t go crazy. I had another car and went on vacation mine was tuned for 93 and all they had was 91 at all of the gas stations. I put 91 in and the engine starting knocking and I had a loss of power and gas mileage. In that case add in an octane booster to be safe and continue to drive it normally until you get 93. Required? Engine mounts have nothing to do with the tune. However if you’re experiencing a lot of wheel hop when taking off from a standstill they may help as the limit the movement of the engine, but the mounts will result in more vibration that can be felt inside the car. More importantly, the engine is in it's prime, now that's it's been thoroughly broken in. Now, I can't tell you exactly which one of these variables had the biggest impact, but knowing that there were so many changes I had reset the dyno testing, which included establishing new baseline tests once I moved here (videos can be found not he channel page).

      @@TheLemonFactor I appreciate the response. Yeah I’ve flashed back to stage 2 a few times now due to the improper fuel trims until I at least grab a prl hvi. I honestly have zero issues with the trims when on stage 2, but they go crazy on stage 3.

    • @TheLemonFactor
      @TheLemonFactor  2 роки тому

      When you say that they go crazy, do you mean that the LTFT is constantly fluctuating without settling?

    • @lordsosa1508
      @lordsosa1508 2 роки тому +1

      @@TheLemonFactor Yes, correct. It goes up to 10% when driving and stays around there until I give it a break & come back to drive the car later in the day again. The stage 2 seems to stay at 0% & going up to 3% or so at times but never surpasses that.

      Now I’m no expert in tuning, but I don’t think it’s a problem to see your LTFT move as long as it finds consistency.

    I also have a 10AT Accord mine is stock is it normal for rpms to hang if you accelerate quickly and let off? Mine did that today. I accelerated fast 0-40 and saw a cop so I let off right away off the throttle and my rpms were stuck at 3500-4000 for 2-3 seconds before the transmission shifted up. Is that normal ? When driving normal it doesn’t have that issue it’s done this several times on me.

      You are probably experiencing “rev hang”

      Same with me 2020 2.0 accord

    • @TheLemonFactor
      @TheLemonFactor  2 роки тому +3

      @Brian - rev hang effects manual transmission cars. What you might be experiencing is the AT trying to decide which gear it should be in. If you’re coming off the throttle abruptly from WOT it’s probably holding the higher RPM expecting that you’ll get back on the throttle. I’ve had this happen, not just with the Honda Accord, but other AT cars when they’re in their sportiest setting.

      93 tune, but with 91 fuel - crazy that my k.cont are so solid. It was recommended to try this route due to the elevation and thinner air, and it seems to like it 👍

    I think I heard a lot of turbo sputter on hard acceleration... I had that with early spool turned on and the more aggressive options on ktuner. Dialed it back and turned off early spool and it went away. I'm assuming it's not a good thing.
