This guy was amazing, lot of people should take lessons from him, humble, smart and a great ARTIST.
"Godfather of death metal"
*wears kitten t-shirt*
Dude that's metal as fuck
@@anotherbigfootwithinternet2147 Lol. I love that term. 10 years ago i gave my 70 year old father a God Forbid tshirt that said "metal as fuck" on the back of it. He still wears it from time to time. At 80 years old. Seriously. 😂🤘🤘🤘
@@WontHarmYou you and your dad are legends.
Really, I need this tshirt
Tre true Death Fan uses Kitty T-shirts
Most Anti-system move he could do
He was so cool, he made cat t-shirts look badass. No one but Chuck could pull that off.
And Dad pants. Don't forget. Lol
gary holt and Chuck can
@@JustAPairofLegs so as rob halford
@@_iridica_ yeah I love rob he’s so cool!
Kitten T-shirts were always badass.
It's really depressing that he's gone...
He needs to take a vacation from the bands, relax and maybe he´s still with us
It is I still miss the guy today
Shouldn't have been gay
@@Baskl757 Troll harder.
No, it’s a blessing he was here :)
_"The whole universe spins around Chuck from DEATH."_
Housesider most death fans. He was a lot about "me me I I "
@@frankriley6060 I kind of wonder if scott was alluding to that jokingly lol... having said that the people Chuck played with in the later years sing his praises like Hoglan, Christy, and DiGiorgio, it seems like most people who say he was self-centered/ a jerk were from the original lineup. Not saying chuck never did anything wrong lol
Take a shot every time Chuck says "you know"
He is a friend of Ozzy :-)
Josh Houston I counted about 15 times
You know, many americans say it alot
Peppe Frasca you know, that wasn't really funny
Goddamn idiot
The interviewer was professional af. All her questions were good.
This was from MuchMusic, the Canadian version of MTV. The metal show was called the Power Hour, then the Power 30, then Loud. The interviewer is Theresa Roncon...All of us Canuck metalheads had a crush on her.
@@ferox965 A good story. No wonder you guys had crush, this lady, as well as a Chuck, so pleasant and, as I see, intellectual and open-minded towards extreme music. I think in early 90's it was totally not common.
@@ferox965 so they flew her into Florida to get an interview? That dedication
very professional for the time period 🤣🤣
She was also a metalhead.
That look chuck gave Andy at 1:46 after saying the words "king diamond" shows exactly how much he was fanboying when they recorded that album. Hahaha
Who wouldn’t fanboy fucking KING DIAMOND?
I wish I could have met Chuck, he definitely seems like such a nice guy.
me too
Me three!!! \m/
Charles Manis Me four!
my uncle wrote him a letter back in the 90's saying chuck was his favorite guitarist of all time and how his lyrics impacted his life. Chuck actually wrote him back and sent him a package with different death t shirts and a signed copy of symbolic. definitely a nice guy.
That's so cool!
Death is just one of those bands where I have to have all their albums, I mean every album is pure genius
Same.
They’re also a rare kind of band that got progressively better which each album. With the exception of Human (their second best album imo) each album is better than the last
@@NathansMusicpitх HUMAN is a game changer!
@@NathansMusicpit In my opinion Symbolic and Human are better than The Sound of Perseverance.
@@matthewm534 First time I listened to TSOP it actually hurt my ears. Now it’s my all-time favorite album
"when something gets big, it tends to get out of control. Some bands are out of control with what they're doing, they don't realize what they're doing." Djent, in a nutshell.
If I could give you medal I would haha
Vallarris lol yeah if this was ultimate guitar he would have won himself a medal lol
+ZX6R#366 clearly pointing mayhem
Kind of like the crap they're playing these days. Out of control noise, and they don't know what there doing !!!!!
You deserve a gold medal for this comment.
Utterly sickening he died so young
I love Chuck's shirt.
Poor Chuck. Such a great guy with so much talent. So sad what happened to him.
"New level each record.." Understatement of the century.
"I was asked to do a couple of solos... so, yeah.." Quite a calm guy, this Andy LaRocque. Such an underrated guitarist!
he is so humble 3:42 can't consider yourself the founder of death metal Chuck you are death metal
Ainsley Buckley, it’s because Possessed was the founder of death metal.
The problem is is that that is a bit debatable. Bwecause its so close to thrash metal that it became a midway between the 2 genres. Or you could consider sodoms first ep in 84 as the first blackened death metal record.
@@thetalkingjshow8797 Possessed were first but it's widely considered that Scream Bloody Gore is the first true death metal record.
jordan smith haha yeah ok
Death picked up death metal, where it left off and redefined it forsure
cat shirt for the win
The whole universe spins around Chuck from Death
“You know,” Chuck said.
Chuck's positive personality is pretty inspiring.
this album features my favorite Death lineup, Chuck Schuldiner + Steve DiGiorgio + Andy LaRocque + Gene Hoglan ... I'm not gay but this group of men makes me jizz .. that's why this is the most complete and consistent sounding Death album, utter perfection, not a single flaw to be heard
"I'm not gay, but this group of men make me jizz"
Only a gay man in denial says “I’m not gay but.....” lol
That La'rocque solo on trapped in a corner would probably make me turn tho...
Please keep the likes at 69
He said "You know" about 1000 times.
Imagine watching this and every time Chuck says 'you know' you take a shot of whiskey, gin, vodka, whatever. You will be pissed or dead in 5 minutes lol
Chuck said you know literally 28 times
Jajaaa, yeap, Andy laroque runs behind just because he spoke less, I counted 16 "you knows" from Chuck...I just love those, because theire remind me he was a beautiful human, you know, and just a God in stage.
I know
@@lemursven9195 it’s like everyone saying the word “like” in every sentence or even when you’re just casually talking.
"The whole universe spins around Chuck from Death".
Universe hasn't been the same since his passing
Chuck, the greatest guy in metal ever.
People might freak at the thought of metal bands and their names but Chuck said it best, DEATH is just a part of LIFE.
good man with a good heart..such a talent. RIP
"Y'know"

undoubtedly, the nicest person that the entire music world has ever seen.
Such humble speeches even being the godfather,no conflict against religions,Very much poetic sometimes list goes on
Spiritual healing has a pretty obvious message against religion
@@zsjb_ honestly i think its more about manipulation in general not religion, but youre entitled to your opinion
@@zsjb_ I disagree.
Chuck and Dime. RIP to legends
@@LabiaLicker I mean rest in peace dime too but I don't see how he was a part of this
He was such a beautiful person, ahead of the mainstream and his time, and a marvelous musician..God bless his soul..And Andy always a remarkable guitarist..!!!
chuck schuldiner sure deserved to have lived longer. he was the right person writin the right music and, above all, telling the right words about it. i'm a death metal fan and i do worship many different purposes of "extreme" conception, but chuck is absolutely right when he says some bands just don't have control of what they'r doin. besides, I've always had this same puzzlement about Death (and morbid angel) being from the state of MIAMI BITCH eh. RIP death and chuck, may ur legacy last 4ever.
Chuck was a genius for putting Steve DiGeorgio on bass !!
I stated playing fretless bass because of that man !!
Metal brothers united! Metal needs more unification! Chuck was such a nice dude. It feels awesome to live in Tampa.
Actually, they're from Orlando.
Actually, they're from Orlando.
Interesting statement... and what is happening with the metal scene in Tampa now?
Huge huge respect for Chuck !!! RIP brother
the whole universe spins around chuck from death.... sounds about right.
I get the feeling Chuck is talking about Cannibal Corpse or maybe even Deicide when he refers to bands who have gone too extreme. At the time Cannibal was pretty over the top and got a lot of attention for it. No band was nearly as graphic in their subject matter as Cannibal during the Barnes era.
Ye, and Deicide is just obsessed with Satan
Azazul Soulmeister Every band of death, thrash, black metal Is obssesed with satan... I'm tired of that shit haha
Kris Ross pretty sure he was talking about the Norwegian metal scene at the time. Chuck was friendly with the Canibal corpse members
Boris Becker not really.... only black metal retards. Death Metal is completely different content... well except for Deicide and a couple other.
It wasn't Cannibal Corpse, Chuck and Chris Barnes were close friends. There is even a clip of Chris Barnes on stage with Death doing the vocals for 'Pull The Plug'.
That metal grapefruit ended up being incredibly accurate. "The whole metal universe spins around chuck from death.."
Chuck looks nineteen in this lol
Individual Thought Patterns was the first death metal album I ever heard. I was into Megadeth, Faith No More and Ministry. I heard this album at my friend Ed's house and it blew my damn mind.
man, how positive was this guy?? I miss you so much Chuck!
And I'd say that each Death's album starting from Spiritual Heraling is a freakin' masterpiece.
Scream bloody gore is awesome it’s so brutal. But you can’t forget about Leprosy it’s legendary. Some of the best solos are on pull the plug left to die and open casket
I don't like death metal but Chuck got my respect. Death is a good band and testament.
love that metal universe part
yeah its so cool
There’s Death and there’s everyone else.
Whoever that chick is, she was/is a great interviewer, keeps it casual and flowing whilst also throwing in genuine questions that are interesting, even if the answers aren't as forth-coming at times.
Chuck wasn't just an amazing musician, but he sounds like he was an awesome dude.
I often think and get sad because how much I wish to hear another Death album.
It's hard to believe how young Chuck was while creating his music, constantly progressing the sound, style, new collaborations, and very philosophical lyrics.
We all miss you very much, buddy!!!❤
I can't see Chuck's footage without cry... such a beautiful person !!
"We're Metal Brothers" That was beautiful :)
For being the frontman of a band literally called Death, Chuck has such a life affirming energy to him
The last sentence from Scott Burns sums up EVERYTHING!
Huge respect for these guys. Aside from the music, they're really down to earth. RIP Chuck.
Death seems to me like Chuck read a newspaper and wrote lyrics about news of the day...very real and relatable.
Damn,Chuck seemed like a really nice guy.I like how he used to say ''you know'' a lot.
Death's songs are really something else, something special, unique, they probably don't have a bad one.
It's a real joy watching the interviews with this guy (for me at least) and seeing him play live.
I just started listening to Death a month ago,so glad I did.
Yeah YOU KNOW,Death till death😀
Man he seemed so wholesome. Not to mention he was incredibly smart and a deep thinker, and a good looking dude. Oh and he invented a whole genre. What a man
Cheers
Best album for me...
@4:15 "im still in there luckily", hes talking about him being still relevant in the extreme metal scene. and to this day in 2023 when im writing this comment, 30 years later after him making the statement it still holds true. RIP chuck, your legacy will always live on.
Wow ... imagine how you'd feel writing with Chuck and coming out with Death Albums ...
Incredible. The one person I greatly miss and never met. Blesses.
I absolutely agree! Though I’d add Dio, Peter Steele, Lemmy, and Neil Peart to that list.
There's never ever gonna be another chuck.R.I.P ..your greatly missed
Chuck Schuldiner & Andy LaRocque, you will never get more genius in one picture.
Even in 2020 I can’t get enough of Death‘s music.
Same in 2023
"The whole universe spins around Chuck from Death!" DAMN TRUE.
Chuck was a very cool guy and he attracted other good people. So much talent and humility 🤘🏻🙏🏻💪🏻
I remember watching this on "Power 30" on MuchMusic in Canada and being totally stoked for "Individually Thought Patterns" and "Spider's Lullaby". I still have this clip on a VHS tape somewhere, if only I had a VCR.
The fine lady interviewing Chuck and Andy is Teresa Roncon and I totally loved her as an up and cumming man. ;-)
RIP Chuck (12/13/2001), "the grandfather of death metal". All Respect my Metal Brother \m/.
All us Canuck metalheads loved Teresa Roncon! Cheers.
When Chuck was made, they broke the mold. Top fucking shelf human being. R.I.P.
Great interview & interviewer. I'm really surprised, she actually sounded like she cared. Genuine questions and reactions. RIP Chuck
Never heard (despite of great bands along Metal History in general) such a greatness in musical concept taken to the most complex chords of this gender. Your legacy will be remembered Chuck Schuldiner. "Only Death deifies the gods"
my heart is warmed.
Thanks for the upload brother! chuck we miss ya bro
We miss you so much Chuck Thanks for everything you helped me being a better musician but most important a better human
Three albuns started the Death metal in the world:
.Bestial Devastation Sepultura
.Seven churches Possessed
.Scream bloody gore Death.
🤘
Chuck was a cool kid in High School and we hung out together him and myself and are mutual friend Chad. We all got excited for him when he first made it and he's well missed.
Lots of respect for the guy mixing the music here. He seems to be very passionate about it, and doesn't try to involve himself too much with the creative process unless it's necessary. Definitely seems like a cool dude, and of course Chuck is as down to earth as always!
Every time I see Chuck I thank him for the inspiration.
Everyone is so nice on this interview, and that girl is so cute and nice,
.
Chuck is such an inspiration for me. The music he wrote for Death, is like therapy for me. Especially lately with the world going to (even further) levels of shit.
that's it. right there. chuck, an absolute legend of a player, right next to andy who wrote my favorite guitar solo of all time! all love.
just discovered the album, what in the earth is that. just great!
Chuck's earthy, cheerful&optimistic personality is inspiring!
For all you've given and all you've done...you live on Chuck🤘🤘
I think Possessed probably coined the term "Death Metal".
possessed still sounded thrash back in those days, venom was definitely the one who started death
I don't know, I always think about black metal when it comes to Venom, then again, they have a song called "Black Metal".
they are black metal, they started LOL but like chuck and many ppl says, venom started black AND thrash metal in general
+Nicolas Silva Venom wasn't and isn't Black metal. They just gave a fundaments to genre. Bathory was the first black metal band.
Death had a demo before possessed called 'death by metal'.
love this guy!
One Of The Best Ever #Salute
Very good interview
So awesome so see this. 🤘
Eternal AND humble
I have had this CD for a while now. Not a big fan of the death metal genre, but I am happy to have been exposed to chuck a few years back by a band mate. What an amazing musician. Transcends all concepts of scenes and genres. To have Andy from king diamond with him? Apex technical expression. RIP chuck.
Love all of their albums.
well, he had and has a point though. Death songs had a reason behind the imagery. They were artistic, just extreme in the output. But really the rest are not really up to snuff. They kinda fucked it all up.
I wish i could've eased his mind and told him how thankful we all are for his music!
chuck had to undo the bad rep that deicide gave death metal in regards to animal treatment
THE WHOLE UNIVERSE SPINS AROUND CHUCK, BABY 🐾🐾💀🍊
That is why I miss u Chuck. The nicest guy for Death Metal,... Miss u Chuck.
Im pretty sure watching Digiorgio play those two seconds from the individual thought patterns album were the best of my life
Thanks for watching and enjoying the video! \m/
The end is beautiful man. The whole universe spins around Chuck.
Today is Chuck's birthday so yeah this is really sad.
Two of the greatest guitarists of all time. Imagine if Chuck was still here today...
Chuck seemed like a really nice guy. I would have loved to meet him, but I was unaware of his passing until 07 when I first learned about Death in GuitarWorld. R.I.P CHUCK!!!
I'm just hoping there is more footage from the recording of ITP! Those seconds at the beginning with Steve recording the bass were awesome!
I absolutely loved the bass in this album, for me it sets this album apart. Chuck was an amazing front man, it was a tragedy for the music world when he got sick. Also an incredible failure for the healthcare industry. Money shouldn't have cost the metal scene the life of someone so talented, humble, and influencial.
