I always say "Lord Commander" in my mind exactly like he said it. :) One of the Characters they really did well in series, the actor did a great job. Edit: Though there is one scene i missed here: Where Jon Snow is leading the wildlings through the wall (or is leaving for hardhome...not sure), and asks for his opinion and then answers "As always i thank you for your honesty Ser Alliser"...that scene should be in here too.
Fantastic actor. When he explains eating dying horses was easy but dying men not easy….damn!! He was hard cause he had to be. He already knew those he trained had to be tough to survive. True to his beliefs for sure!!
Jon and Ser Alliser's relationship was the most realistic workplace relationship there is. Some of the best workplaces have people you can't stand. They may even have personal vendetta's or biases against you, but some of those people are still the best workers in your company. You don't have to like each other, you just have to work together. I loved how each one gave the other small semblances of respect even though the disdain was always present.
I loved and hated his character! Because so many times he was actually right! But since we knew the story he was wrong too! He had to take boys and turn them into hard men.. and that wasn't an easy job in that situation! He held true to his own beliefs
Always hated him backstabbing Jon. Ser Alliser was a bully and a total asshole, but above anything he was a soldier and a warrior. Never struck me as a guy who would assasinate his own commander. Not like that anyway. Always seemed out of character.
I definitely don’t agree. It is full in character. His whole persona is defending the wall. In his mind, Jon had already backstabbed the Night’s Watch and he was defending it
@@patrickhernandez-ball3291 I disagree. His character was like medieval drill instructor. A hardass who everyone hates, but ultimately is doing the job out of love and a desire to see everyone able to withstand the impending conflict. Him suddenly becoming a murderous oathbreaker who backstabs the legitimate lord commander is a complete breach of character, despite his personal animosity toward Jon.

He wasn't. The only time he was genuinely in the right was during the battle of castle black, where he was admittedly a good leader and actually put aside his issues with Jon for a night. Every other time, he's just a hateful knob who puts his dislike of Jon over what's practical and in the interest of his brothers. If he was always "in the right", he would have allowed Jon to train the other Night's Watch fighters and would've sealed up the tunnel prior to the battle.

Watching the scenes it is clear Thorne is having a nervous breakdown. He keeps telling Sam and Jon his confessions then punishes them.
He's got a point with the "sniveling boy" line. You need someone you can rely on to watch your back. Not shit themselves at the first whiff of combat.
“And now, I rest. But you Lord Snow, will be fighting their battles forever.” And so he did as King Beyond the Wall.
