I would say this; I STILL love my XF8; not going anywhere. But this is a HUGE improvement over the regular Montage! The pianos sound more robust and somewhat warmer than the old Montage. I would love to hear more electric pianos and orchestral sounds but the pianos (along with your playing) sounds beautiful. I think Yamaha did pretty good on this!🤨🎹🎶👍🏾

And so would I (also as an owner of an XF8)! Really debating whether to trade or sell the XF8 for the Montage M8X (don't have the space for two 88key boards). Andrew did and excellent overview of the XF8 ("Is the XF8 still worth it in 2024?"). But that focused strictly on its sounds. Would like to hear Andrew's comparison of other attributes - like keybed action and arpeggiation/pattern sequencing.

​@etpslick100 I had a very bad experience with Montage M8X in a shop here in Italy. Headphone amplifier inside the workstation is very weak. I couldn't appreciate the presets. Same headphone with a Yamaha YC88 and with a Nord Stage4 was working perfectly... Try to listen to it on a fine loudspeaker system!

How much Release did you take away? Because on some praise and Worship scene the Piano sounded really snappy(in my opinion to much)😅😊
(Not saying that it's bad‼️)
Or is that by default?

Hey Andrew do you mind sharing the individual patches you used for your praise and worship scenes? Also were the click tracks from the montage or your laptop? Thanks as always!

The Praise and Worship patch is actually a stock sound on the M8X, the piano is the CFX piano, the bells were JPop, I believe the synth was the synth brass patch and the click tracks are also in the board

It definitely is a good board, you’d just have to get used to the keybed

The feel is very similar, both feel like an acoustic grand piano to me. The sound is very similar but there are a lot more options on the M8X
