I have equipped an X1 with bl touch, z axis supports and linear guide. Now, 4 years later, I see what you can get for cheap money, man, how quickly everything is developing
As more and more of all the machines come along, the next thing you know you'll walk up to the screen and say "tea, earl grey, hot" and in a few seconds, there it will be on the build plate.
I think I feel the same way about input shaping. It should just be there, installed on all the axises. I have the Creality Ender 3 V3 KE. It does not come with the input shaping module. I had to purchase it separately, 3d print a bracket to attach it to the printer, run a cable and plug it in to a difficult spot to get to just to run the input shaping and then remove all of the above. What a pain. Input shaping definitely seemed like an after thought for that printer. I’m glad it has it. It looks like the Artillery printer here at least makes this a bit easier. But why not just have them installed and able to be ran whenever or ran every time before a print like my A1 mini? Bed leveling knobs. Honestly until recently I had no experience with them. All my printers just used ABL. With my new Neptune 4 Max, I am very thankful of the bed leveling knobs. With larger print beds II like to have the option to level it the best I can before letting ABL does its thing. It is a pain to manually level a large bed for sure but I also feel you get to know your printer a little more. Of course there is something to be said for the fully ABL process! Just send the print and walk away. I do enjoy when tech just works like it’s suppose to. Thanks for another great video.
Definitely! Input shaping being hardcoded is a shortcut that I think needs to end. There are a lot of factors that would change that when a printer makes it to an end-user's home, and those modules are cheap enough, they should just be included. As for knobs, I know the reason they still exist is cost. They allow larger format machines like your Neptune 4 Max to be much more affordable for us to get at home. Heavy duty, precisely machined print beds cost more for sure, so I am thankful at least that this option exists. But, with that said, I'd love to just see everything automatic and never even think about it again.
I think the Firmware 1.5.0 is the Firmware from the x4 pro because i installed it on the x4 plus s1 and now it has 36 measuring point not 121.(I think Artillery uploaded the x4 pro Firmware to the x4 plus)
Thx for your updated review. Besides your video there‘s almost no footage to be found about this machine. As my Sidewinder X2 died the other day I need a new machine. The cheap price on the X4 plus S1 is very tempting, but would you recommend this machine over the Ender 3 V3 Plus? I‘m just want to print helmets as hassle-free as possible and with higher speeds than the old X2. But as Creality announced the CFS system to be compatible with the Ender 3 V3 Plus, I‘m more or less sitting on the fence. Keep it up, I really like your channel a lot.
Dear LM, I have original one, it is pretty cool so fast and BIG. Can you show testing larger nozzle sizes? I am not sure how best to determine how to get the best out of the hot end and the larger nozzle sizes. There must be some test to run to determine when you hit one of the constraints (the hotend to melt vs the large nozzle to flow). Curious how that might make helmet printing faster??? It might be a good angle to bring viewers that own other big printers.
Most printer websites will have their maximum volumetric flow, and slicers calculate this automatically now and will warn or provide you with the recommendations. Join our discord we can definitely help you there! Also, I can definitely do a video on this topic!
I really appreciate you taking the time to review this. I’ve had an x1 and it’s been packed away and I’ve been wanting to play with it but the coast to upgrade and change everything to get it to a decent printer I’m better off getting a new one. I was wondering if the build size is the same from the x1 to the x4
Hi, I didn't understand one thing: are the auto-leveling sensor and the Vibration compensation sensor included with the Plus S1 printer or will you buy it separately?
I think the issue with any bed is temp. I heat up my bed for 5 minutes, then manually level, then software compensate only 16 points. But even then the bed can still warp. and asking for a milled piece of hardened steel is out of the question. Need a material that does not shape shift/warp when temp changes. so Software compensation for Z axis is the only way to really level. We will just have to wait until Boeing release an affordable sonic 3d printer. lol.
You don’t have to run high speed filaments, you can just adjust speeds and flow. High speed filaments are real formulas, they have additives that allow them to melt quicker and cool quicker. Eventually everything will just be high speed filaments like Bambu Lab filaments.
I have first version, sincerely i'm a little disapponted because i've bought that 6 months ago and now there is this new version with improvements... i REALLY hope they make a "purchable kit" for upgrade the original
Don’t be disappointed! I know that feels like the natural response, but updates and innovation are needed in our industry and I agree, an upgrade path would be cool! I can always email and ask!
When will you make a video of printing on this printer, because I want to compare my prints (made on sw x3plus after mods) with those that you will be able to create on new equipment. Another thing, maybe you will make an episode about what computer is currently the absolute minimum for good prints.
Ya there getting better and better and easier to use. I love the automatic leveling. Bed slingers have their place, but for me I love the enclosed machines.
I have the original x1 and have had great time with it, tons of prints, very few failures... it's almost hard to make it not print correctly! How much will I like this new version? Is it a lot faster?
@@LoyalMoses Thanks, I decided to get the Neptune 4 plus instead. Reading a few horror stories about that model, but Im not a beginner... sounds like some noob issues with learning how to level and set up files correctly.
Because of my recommendation I bought X4 Plus, but cancelled the order and got Neptune 4 Plus. Also Your recommendation. It's just that some people were saying that one is bad, but the other (Artillery's) was worse. Well, IDK the Neptune works well for me, but I might go for Artillery next time :) But the super-powerful blower on Neptune is gold for my usecase.
It can be so hard to know who is being sincere... I try really hard to just simply share my experience, and if I have a problem, I will share that too. I think the Neptune machines are SOOOO good too!
Have Artillery Sidewinder X4 plus S1 units been sold yet? Is there any news on its efficiency? Why don't I see any reviews on the Artillery website about this product?
Now, if only Artillery support was any good. I had a motherboard issue. After support diagnosed it, collected information, they completely ghosted me and never sent any parts.

The Artillery website still lists the X4 Plus as available at $20 USD less than the S1. For $20 I'd grab the upgraded one. I agree about the value of iterative updates, but do wish more vendors would then also offer the upgrade components and firmware where needed, to the previous iteration, much as Prusa seems to always do.

It is in the title! :-) Also, I do mention in the video that they are no longer going to have the original, that this model has replaced it. I don't think they want to label the new machine as the S1, because this was not a planned update - this is just a one time update on one of their machines.
Oh. When You make the video on X4+ vs X4+S1 do a big, high, possibly quite rectangular print, like a building, so that we can compare the input shaping. Maybe just print something like a fast print of a high pipe with almost max height, that's how I check the vibrations (and cooling). Usually with a single layer wall.
@@LoyalMoses elegoo,Babu, creality, anycubic now thing is the kits will be klipper controlled so we will have many printers adapt think in short time my opinion
