    Thanks! Replacing my water pump and needed to know how to drain the block.

      I had to rebuild my water pump. I made a video showing how to remove the water pump and reinstall it. Then I also made one showing how to rebuild the pump. I never edited those videos and uploaded them.

      @@TractorTech Getting that darn radiator out, and then back in was not simple. The drain at the bottom of the radiator gets hung up on the bottom of the shroud something fierce. I had to remove the top and middle bolts from the reservoir and swing it outward to because it was hitting the alternator. I could have removed it I suppose. Once I swung it outward I was able to tilt the shroud away far enough to squeeze the drain past it. If it went straight down like they do on most cars it would be simple. I got it done though and was able to finish it up. I used the mower yesterday after replacing the fuel filters and front axle gear oil as part of my 300 hr service. The water pump was not planned but I'm glad I caught it when I did. I cut for over 3 hours in 95 degree heat and not a drop of coolant leaked. I used Kubota concentrated green coolant and pre-mixed with water to 50/50 in another gallon jug I had. It was running on the hotter side and one point I touched the hood and thought it might be hotter than it should be. It stayed at about 85% on the temp gauge the whole time though. Mine took nearly an entire gallon to refill including the reservoir. I checked it after it cooled down by removing the cap and it was right where I topped it off at and pretty green.
      Thanks again!

      I replaced mine because coolant was coming out of the weep hole replaced and got one mowing completed before new one started leaking from weep hole. Went back to local Kubota dealership here and they said they only warranty parts if they install them. Fine, but that $277 is gonna cost them a lot more in the long run by wied of mouth. I have another dealership just as close if needed and I'll just buy parts on line from now on.

    You did a really great job on this video so thank you. How much total liquid (coolant + distilled water) did it take to refill?

    • @TractorTech

      Thanks, I'm pretty sure that a gallon of antifreeze and a gallon of distilled water was enough.

      According my BX24 manual there is a total of 3.1 liters or 3.3 US qts. of coolant/water with recovery tank.

    Roger, thanks for the video. Very informative. I've been under my BX2360 but haven't been able to locate the block drain plug. You said you were on the left side of the tractor. Is the plug facing the left side? (left side as you are seated on the tractor) Thanks again. Keep up the excellent instructions.

      Pause the video @2:09 look at the fuel filter under the hood, then behind that and down a little is a drain.

    Thanks for sharing! I did not knew the block was holding so much! This is next job on the Case. I want to move the radiator out of the way to get access to the crankshaft pulley. There is a small hub bolted on the pulley with a splined hole (6 splines 1in). I eventually want to connect a shaft from there to an hydraulic pump. This way, I could have a joystick control for the FEL and keep the 3pt hitch independent. This is a project I am thinking. Do you know anything about adding a pump at the front of the engine on a tractor? Thanks!

    • @TractorTech
      @TractorTech  6 років тому

      Thanks Joe! I don't know too much about hydraulics. First thing I would do is figure out what rpm the shaft turns to be sure your pump will work with it. Are you going to use the existing hydraulic "tank" on the tractor? I wonder if the fluid will get hot with 2 pumps running on it???? There is not a away you could add a joystick to the existing hydraulics?

    • @FromSteelToWood
      @FromSteelToWood 6 років тому

      Thanks Roger! Those are the two main unresolved questions on my mind. I could use an oversized pump to get more volume, as I expect it will run only at 1000-1500 rpm most of the time. And I also suspect I would overheat the fluid. Most likely 2nd tank + heat dissipator. There does not seem to have any power beyond port on those spools. Or I could remove the top spool, make a special cover to get access to those ports... There must be, because they are 2 identical (I think) spools stacked together. This is where I am at! Thanks for your ideas, they are welcomed!

    Hi Roger, thanks for the video! I am about to do this for the first time. I was curious, why do you remove the radiator hose instead of using the radiator drain plug? Is the drain plug difficult to get to? Also, what are your thoughts on using a cooling system cleaner? Thanks!

    • @TractorTech
      @TractorTech  5 років тому +1

      Your welcome. Yes, the drain is difficult to get to. It is not a plug but cap. The hose is easier to remove and you get just as much coolant out removing the hose. I don't like coolant system cleaners. The usually contain an acid in them. It is impossible to get all of the acid and could possible eat up a gasket, like a head gasket. If your cooling system is dirty I would fill it with water and run through a heat cycle and let it cool, then drain it and repeat. You could also try flushing.

    • @xjfo
      @xjfo 5 років тому

      @@TractorTech I just did the coolant flush. I was a little worried that getting the radiator hose off would be difficult but surprisingly it was not bad at all! I appreciate you taking the time to make the various maintenance videos. It was really helpful to see the coolant flush process.

    Soooo I I maybe possibly accidentally ran the tractor until the coolant was totally empty…is a flush necessary? I guess a flush would still clear debri out

    • @TractorTech
      @TractorTech  2 роки тому

      No, you can refill it but now would be the time to flush it also fo rno more than it takes.

    Does each different tractor require a distinctive coolant?

    • @TractorTech
      @TractorTech  4 роки тому

      I know kubota specs ethylene glycol. That should also be fine in an older tractor too.I'm not sure what other Tractors may spec.

      Peak Final Charge but kubota recommends ethylene glycol.

    Why did you use distilled water?

    • @TractorTech
      @TractorTech  3 роки тому

      It does not contain minerals which can cause deposits in your cooling system.
