MPs voted but not everyone else because of the threat of attack.
The election was marred by accusations of bribery and political infighting among the clans of Somalia, all 135 of them.
So will the new president be able to lead Somalis through the many political and security challenges?

may Allah ease the hardships of my brothers and sisters in somalia , a lot of warm hearted love for all people of somalia , from ur brother in pakistan ... we love u .. i dont understand what UN is doing that idiot organization of the wicked . i think somalia should ask pakistan and saudi arabia to normalize its situation , saudis can fund and we can send man power troops engineers to rebuild somalia for the people which are very close to our heart .. many somalis study in pakistan and are great friends of mine they are exceptional friends and i feel lucky to know such great guys and it brteaks my heart to see ssomalia in hardship or to see any other muslim in hardship it breaks my heart .we must do alll we can to help each other ,.also always remember omar RA he sued to say "when everything seems perfect .than there is always a downward trend after that " ints other meaning is "when everythng seems bad than there is always an upword trend " inshallah .

Allah has answered our prayers. Farmaajo is loved by all somalis from north to south to east and west. Farmaajo will rebuild the national army, he will get rid of alshaabaab and he will get rid of ethiopians and kenyans who are interfering somalia by clanism and invasion. RoyalZak Tv What proof do you have that Ethiopia tried to interfere in the election, didn't the most popular candidate win? Ethiopia has been supporting moderate leaders and groups because that's in the interest of both Ethiopia and Somalia, or do you think Al Shaabab should rule Somalia? As for Kenya, they lost the ocean dispute in international court. Other than that, their interest is also peace and development - not islamic terrorism.
I think it is the time that we Somalis all come together and build a strong, stable and prosperous country; and I am say that parents coming from Hargeisa. But the past needs to be examined and learnt or the same things may happen.

Brother I'm from the somali state of Ethiopia but inshallah we'll unite as one. That's when somalia becomes one. We are ready the kufars like 1500's late 1800's and 1977. We conquered them with de gama and portushit troops helping them and InshaAllah we will. Ethiopia,eriteria and Somalia will all be under the brave somali Muslim like medieval golden muslim age again. We defeated them in 2006 while fighting each other, we could defeated them and conquered them again when United. As a Somali I have never seen a viable government working in my country. I grew up with civil war among my beloved people. It has been 26 years. But I have been proud Somali all time and confident that one day we will be celebrating together all around our country and all over the world. Happily I hope that is today in sha Allaah

one of the key areas to stopping al-shabab is to cut off their food and water. guns and ammo are plenty. But cut off their food and water and they are finished. In syria, the rebels surrendered when they ran out of food.
Shabab occupies huge regions in Somalia that have farms, fishing towns, rivers, livestock, you can't take away renewal resources, since most of the land they occupy have rich natural resources i.e. abundance of fish, livestock, farms and rivers.......they practically do not need anything imported, maybe rice and spaghetti, but everything else you can farm and get from the land, including many types of cooking oil....

2years down the line i watch this video and i assure you things are extremely different and Somalia's change to progress can be strongly sensed all over the region...the forces are now controlled by central government all institutions are being rebuilt and 2021 the security is assurred to be 95%good and 2021 normal 1man 1vote elections are to be held....the investment is on and the international community are amazed to see the speed at which things are now changing....we appreciate Turkey govt and pple specifically for helping us rise to our feet above all other supporters..Alhamdullahi Somalia is back again

Channel 4 major clan dont mean anything, Its about sub clans or some cases it is sub sub clans which goes over 300. Sub clans: Marehan, Ogaden, issa, Habr gedir, leysaan, etc...which alot as it is. Then some sub sub clans to like Sulayman from Habr Gedir who have different agenda from other habr gedir. You got Ogaden sub clans that dont get along either. The clan term "Darod", "Issaq" etc dont hold much weight in politic since no sub clan listens to clan representives. hence Majerteen vs Marehaan. Abgaal vs Habr Gedir.
It 6 Major clans by the way. some are just fused together. Like Isaaq fused with Dir. and Digil fusued with Mirifle(Rahanweyn). So Rahanweyn, Hawiye, Darod and Dir(though isaaq included) that is the 4 sytem politic but in reality Issaq is not dir. despite them sharing seats historically.
