After purchasing one for a friend and one for myself, we are both very pleased with a knife now known as the Immler Knife. You are to be congratulated once again Felix.
I love how you and Dave are giving each other credit where credit is due for your bushcrafting tricks. I never really considered a SAK to be a viable tool until watching most of your videos and UA-cam recommended them to me from Dave's channel.
You make us love these knives. With so many options around we are almost lose the track on how special are the Victorinox products. They do not seem to age.
You truly are amazing Felix. Got my first Swiss Army knife nearly 40 years ago (still got it). I thought I knew most things.. But I have learned so much by watching your channel. Wonderful videos and knowledge.
I’m also the proud owner of the Victorinox Immler Pro, and just waiting for my pro kit to arrive! Thanks so much, and I hope you will keep showing us noobies your techniques and practical tips for a LONG time!
My oh my, as a spoon carver myself that knife would be a dream come true. Up to now i always had to carry my hook knife to carve the depressions and if i take that, then i might as well take the whole kit... But with this i can leave those at home and just take this. Ordering one right now. Awesome vid as always, Uncle Felix.
Das Messer isch so unglaublich intressant! Mer gspürt richtig die Ziit wo investiert worde isch, richtig durchdacht! Und sehr cool mit dene neue Idee wie mit dem jimping vorne usw.. das machts einzigartig!
When I saw the concavity carver in the video where you introduce the knife, I wondered whether it is just a 90 degree edge or an edge similar to a card scraper(cabinet scraper). In the past I never thought the card scraper edge to be useful for bushcraft, but a youtube channel(which i will mention later) gave me an idea! In the video, an experienced machete user shows how he modified the spine of a machete to create fine scrapings for fire starting. The improvements from just a 90 degree edge to a card scraper edge allows the knife to create hair-like shavings with almost no pressure. Furthermore, In traditional Chinese carpentry, tools with card scraping edges are used(a tool called the centipede file is a series of card scrapers arraged like a saw). However, to create this edge, they use a different method, which I found to be very effective for a hasty scraper in the field. They use a very hard piece of steel with 90 degree corners to apply pressure to another softer steel with a 90 degree edge at a certain angle while draging it. This deforms the metal and creates a huge burr, which is the same as an European card scraper edge. Lastly, an American product called SpeedySharp(copyright) used a very hard alloy for a quick knife sharpening device that is very small(However, it requires skill to not damage the knife). All of these combined, and the fact that a hard alloy can be used to scrape a ferro rod with less damage to the tool, led me to carry a HSS machine tool "blade" as edc. In the past 3 years, I have turned old saw blades' backs into cabinet scrapers, repaired nicks on axes, knives, and other bladed instruments, and scored glass for breaking it evenly, which suprised everyone. The initial youtube channel that gave me inspiration is here: "Machete Bushcraft Australia" The specific video is entitled: "Machete Card Scraper Sharpening"
@@FelixImmler that is perfectly fine for a spoon carver! I mentioned this because the instant I saw the device on the back of the knife, I thought it would be great to have one side a card scraper and another a normal 90 degree edge.
Never thought of using a scraper to carve a spoon 🥄. I'm sure with a little bigger scraper you could carve a bowl 🥣 as well. Keep up the good work and God bless you and your family 👪.
Now after this asking the wife to buy. A perfect gift for myself to company my folding swiss army knives I wouldn't gift it as I have the other styles though.

@@FelixImmler it looks like a fantastic knife, and I love how they Incorporated the tweezers in the sheeth I was hoping they would do something like that when I make a knife sheath I like to put extra pockets or things I want to carry that always need to be with my knife.

I have never understood the "one knife to rule them all" mentality. I *ALWAYS* carried at least three knives when I went hiking, hunting or camping. A big, hefty beastie for heavier tasks like chopping or batoning which rode on my belt or LBE. A smaller folder, like a swiss army knife for those small intricate jobs which rode in my pocket. And a handy midsize knife like my gerber prodigy for everything else. (Although now I'm looking *REAL HARD* at that Victorinox to replace my prodigy.) I have carved rough and ready spoons with the prodigy, but the Victorinox looks like a much better option for carving tasks.
I'm giving serious consideration to the Venture. It just appears to be built in an intelligent manner. Everything from the blade geometry to the handy spoon carver to the small things like the way the handle looks like it's set up for a better grip when carving.
Nice video ! You could make one video on how you maintain the sharpness of those spines: the one on top of the blade and this one for carving bowls. Because I suppose they will get dull at some point and I have no clue on how to maintain an angle for those.
Great video with that knife! Victorinox should rename the collection to "Felix Immler Edition", I keep fingers crossed that there will be a limited edition "Felix Immler" to reflect your very good inputs on that knife!
I think that’s a brilliant idea. I’m a minimalist and like to pack light. I have another idea. You know those utensil knife sets? Well they need to make either the knife or the fork detachable so you can cut your meat. 😉
hi Felix. Thanks for co-designing the venture knife. No doubt its a beast in the woods, but difficult for me to carry in my country. A foldable multitool is still preferred in the eyes of the law here where I live.

@@FelixImmler thank you for the link. I just submitted an idea: A 91mm Victorinox Swiss Army Knife with plus scales with a useful set of tools that include a curved blade or tool for carving a convex shape, for a wooden spoon or kuksa. Included would be wood carving specific blades: First layer: large whittling blade, small sloyd whittling blade Second layer: saw third layer: spoon carving blade fourth layer: inline awl, combo can/bottle opener Plus scales are needed. The pen is useful for drawing out spoon designs, etc.
This looks like a great knife, but you know what would've made it an even better knife? A 5" blade with Mora Kansbol-style scandi-flat combo grind. You know this is true ! Thanks for your videos, Felix.
Yes, I have seen some of the videos you alluded to. I have to say the Venture is NOT a survival knife that can be used to DIG into wood and PRY out grubs for dinner unless the wood is soft or punky. Digging inches into solid wood with the tip and trying to pry up large shards of wood is not what it is made for. The venture is intended to be a relatively affordable and versatile bushcrafting knife for normal camping tasks. It is not supposed to be an indestructible beater. This knife came out of the box sharp enough to shave the hairs off my Buddha belly with ease. The only fault I find is with the loose fit in the sheath. It holds the knife securely enough for normal travel, but I can hold the sheath and flick the knife out of it with moderate effort. It is possible, however to rotate the blade a bit when inserting it into the sheath and get a tighter, more secure, and rattle free fit.
Thanks for your Feedback. Victorinox is in the process of redesigning the case. As far as I know Victorinox, they are generous to customers who are not 100% satisfied. I would write to Victorinox Customer service in October...
With such a low standard, you could've bought the ColdSteel Slock Master for $25 ! 2 inches longer, and 0.1mm thicker, with only marginally worse 4116 steel. Handle is better too. For $75, you can buy an Outrider and Mora Companion Heavy Duty - and have better wood processing ability. This knife is great. But if you are already bringing a SAK into the forest ... why have 2 flat grind blades with this knife? That's why I don't understand this product. Sorry for the rant.
LG Alex
I love the design with one small exception. I prefer blackened blades or brushed finish blades and not for the reason most folks think. I became set against using polished blades when carving on a sunny day with one of Morakivs. Sun bounced off the blade and I was seeing spots for several minutes.

This looks like a great knife, but you know what would've made it an even better knife?
A 5" blade with Mora Kansbol-style scandi-flat combo grind.
You know this is true !
Thanks for your videos, Felix.
Thanks for your inspiration!
Good video Felix, thanks for sharing, God bless !
Thanks for watching and commenting my friend!
LG Alex
Lieber Alex. Dein Kommentar freut mich brutal! 🙏
I like that idea.
Thank you very much!
I love the design with one small exception. I prefer blackened blades or brushed finish blades and not for the reason most folks think.
I became set against using polished blades when carving on a sunny day with one of Morakivs. Sun bounced off the blade and I was seeing spots for several minutes.
Thanks for this interesting aspect!
Well done !
Thank you very much!
Great job on the video 👍
Thanks a lot Nathan!
Hi Felix
I love the cutting power of my Venture
The hammer guy who destroyed his knife is just stupid
Thanks for your support!
Brilliant video
Thanks a lot!
