Super easy, crazy low malt bill and with the lower abv compared to many other beers it is easy drinking. I already have a handful of people asking for some locally.
I actually have the ingredients and was planning to brew a single as my next batch. Great minds think alike! My recipe is based on a triple I brewed last year. That batch was one of my favorites but it was a very dangerous 9.2%. So this year I decided to scale the abv down to a single.
That actually makes a lot of sense to do that. I did a video on here where I cloned the Merry Monks Belgian Triple Ale by using the yeast out of the bottom of a fresh bottle. It was almost impossible to tell the clone from the original. (I brewed that as a 1 gallon with 2 pots and a colander on the stove in my kitchen.) Good Luck and let me know how it turns out.
I'm a bit ADHD, so on most occasions I'll get up at 7 AM to brew, but not actually start brewing until after 11 AM or even as late as 1 PM. (This last weekend, I got up at 7:30 AM but didn't actually start until 2 PM. I keep finding a million other things to do related to my brew day before I finally just start brewing.)
Howdy! do you need some sort of liquor license in FL to home brew? nothing commercial just for you and friends? And, would you be making a trippel with your current setup anytime soon? thanks!
No license to home brew unless you are making spirits. You legally aren't allowed to sell any home brew as a home brewer, but you can give it away all day long. Plus you can brew up to 100 gallons per adult in the house, up to 200 gallons. And, yes I'm planning to brew a lot more Belgians hopefully before the end of this year. If you look up "Harvest Yeast" on my channel, you will find a 3 of 3 videos where I used the yeast from a Tripel and brewed an almost identical commercial version of Merry Monk Tripel. Recipe included. ua-cam.com/video/qdDnXVRZlxw/v-deo.html
Mike, you scare the hell out of me climbing up there. Especially when you pulled the Malt basket. Is this just for the camera? If so, you need to figure something else out. Otherwise your going to fall, get burned, or worse. Take care young man !
Not for the camera in regards to entertainment. The two main reasons, one I hate having to bend over (as I have a habit of hurting my back) and so the camera can easily see the Anvil Foundry during the brewing process. I've thought about getting a lift of possibly a slightly lower table (even considered cutting the current table down a little bit). I've been trying to find the time to reorganize the brew space to help, but I need to sell me really large fermenter first. The problem with a really large fermenter is that almost no one has the space for something that big. I've even resorted to trying to give it away from time to time and have come close once so far. I'd like to say I haven't hurt myself but on this brew day I did step off the ladder a little wrong and about 1 hour later my ankle was hurting.
@BitterRealityBrewing Just take care, Mike. My back is shot too @ 62 yrs old. The pulley is key. I don't even think about brewing without it. Take care, and as always, great content.
Great, Now I want to brew one!!

Thanks for sharing. I'll have to do one of this beer style one day. Cheers!
When your craving a nice drinkable Belgian, this and a Witbier have to be two of the easiest and sessionable Belgian beers I can think of.
