With Russia being what it is right now, I'm not sure how one would go about cycling around the world! I guess that might be an area where her Indian passport actually helps her. I hope you guys send a GCN presenter to accompany her on the first day of her world tour like you did with Mark Beaumont!
Not around the world, but a 10 day bike packing adventure would be good. My max so far was 7 days on an unsupported Tim Woodcock C2C. Sudocreme was my best friend.
That is a great story...And Manon is a great interviewer. I like that she is asking the questions and listening... It seems obvious but not everyone does.
I was excited to hear that you were doing this video! I learned about Vedangi Kulkarni when my friend started relying on cycling for transportation, and we casually googled Indian cyclists just to see who was out there that would look like her. It's cool to learn she's making the trip again! Good luck! I'll be excited to see updates.
@@gcn It wouldn't prevent me from riding but it's very annoying especially doing all the paperwork. The amount of documents they ask for, for some of these visas - they might as well put a 24/7 surveillance drone one you lol. And the processing times on some of them 🙄
Fantastic video, Vedangi’s belief in human kindness despite the challenges she faced, and her general go getter attitude mixed with her passion and practical tips are so inspirational! Also Manon is an amazing interviewer, she knew exactly when to jump in with questions, and when to let Vedangi speak. It felt like a lovely natural conversation. Brilliant, brilliant video!
Manon is such an accomplished athlete. To see her in awe speaks volumes about Vedangi. Great job on the interview. Super interesting and inspirational!
Manon is showing herself to be the best interviewer of GCN, she obviously has set questions, but the questions where she has listened to what they say and asked the follow up questions we all want to know from their answers, is really good and you just dont get that very often. More often an interviewer is just focusing on the next question
I loved what Vedangi said about picking her route in part based on what she would want to ride, because she needed her curiosity to keep wanting to move forward. And I was touched by her reframing of pushing herself not in terms of self-punishment but actually as a form of self-love. (I’m paraphrasing, hopefully not ruining what she more eloquently stated.) On a separate note, this is another great interview by Manon!
I'm so happy that GCN interviewed Vedangi Kulkarni, what a courageous and inspirational human being she is. I learned about her a few weeks back and was totally inspired by her achievement and attitude. GO VEDANGI!!! Be safe and best of luck!!!🙏🙏
thank you for this interview. it's amazing to get to know cyclists like her a bit. such an inspiration. love her takeaway - trust the people, trust the world.
My friend is riding across the U.S. Props to this young lady. I've seen my friends Facebook posts and it's cool watching his progress. This is awesome she's going around the world.❤❤
Just read Jenny Graham’s book, Coffee First Then The World. Great book but brings it home how impossibly hard it is, lack of sleep, sleeping in toilets or standing up, 30 hour dashes to catch flights. Good luck Vedangi, great attitude, and amazing you did it at 19.
Imagine living in a world where multiple people can do the same thing at the same (similar) time. Also imagine that productions with limited staff, money and time can only interview so many people and only when timing works for everyone involved.
Such an articulate, intrepid, composed young woman. Would be great to see her on GCN as a guest presenter once she’s back from her round the world adventure
Good luck Vedangi! You are amazing and I keep fingers crossed for the world record! ❤🚲 Really hope one day we can live in a world where it doesn't matter what passport one has, it's so unfair you have so much trouble with visas...
great idea for this production. hope you can keep your wandering eye on other cycling news that is not UCI racing. most of us dont watch UCI and ride A LOT!! you folks rock at what you do.
This is so relatable, apart from riding across the world bit of course. But the Visa issues, unsupported ride turning into a supported one in India :) or not wanting to disappoint parents being a great motivation to keep going. She was incredibly honest in this interview. Good luck Vedangi.. Khup khup Shubhecha.
Loved her. She is truly inspiring. Also, she mentioned a few times the issue with passport. It is a shame that in our world mobility is extremely restricted for people coming from poor/developing nations, while folks from the USA and Europe have an open gate to the world.
Amazing, love the way she talks so positively about trusting people. I got the same message from listening to Sean Conway's book when he did it. What an amazing person 🤩🥰
Vedangi is inspiring! Manon is an insightful interviewer that listens to her subject. I hope that GCN will be able to provide updates. Does Vedangi have a website that a person could track? Good luck! People are good! Trust the World! Great story!
Go go go Vedangi buddy ⚡️ wishing for your success 🫡🤗 And huge congratulations 🎊 for the 2018 record and also for the last year Manali to Leh world record. You are an inspiration ✨️ So proud of you. I just recently made a world record of 12 Highest Passes on Manali to Leh and leh to manali route in 20 days and 15 hours and I can totally relate your passion and will power. Go go go , all the best buddy from fellow passionate cyclist from Haryana 🇮🇳
Lael Wilcox is currently doing the same thing. She just got to Australia the other day from the country of Georgia. Her wife is documenting it all & she has a daily podcast to go along with it. It's interesting to see the privilege Lael has in which countries she can enter(pending she hides her marriage to Rue).
I echo all the other comments in admiration for what she is doing (and has done!). Super brave. Is there a forthcoming GCN tech video on her equipment?
Oh she went through Finland when she cicumcycled the first time. Cool beans. As in reeeaaallly cold for anyone especially considering where she comes from. Chapeau🎉
Best of luck Vedangi Kulkarni, you are double hard, I've spent 3 weeks on the road with a bivi, contemplating going around the world with one, oof ! Anyway, as said, best of luck, will try to keep up with your progress.
If she comes through my place in USA I would be happy to give her some food or at least a nice coffee. The whole bike community here would want to be having a party.
I think if you are doing good things, good people will join in to keep you safe and going. Come through Texas! If you are on backroads, the people are actually super friendly.

i think most people doing that would realize half-way that they would rather like to slow down and enjoy and savor the experiences and moments in their adventure..forget the record. :)
Best of luck to you on your adventure. I would like to know did you speak to the guy from England that road around the world on his unicycle? I watched every thing he did. Again best of luck and have a blast.
That’s hell of a challenge, can’t find any info on this and her website doesn’t have any info? Lael Wilcox is currently 10,620km in 41 days 😮 and Lael has a history of ultra distance riding at pace so is suited to this sort of challenge. Good luck Vadangi!
