Found this and love.. I have multiple terra cotta pots and will try. How can I darken some cracks? I like very distressed pots. Your videos are calming and so informative. Thanks!
You can darken certain areas/cracks a few ways. You can let the pot dry for about 15 minutes and then reapply the stain to the areas that you want darker and repeat the process till you get the look your going for. Or you can use a small brush/toothbrush to apply the stain in different areas to texture them and stain them more deeply.
Looks awesome! Have you noticed if this slows down evaporation too? I have some cheapo terracotta pots that dry out super fast, wondering if this could kill two birds with one stone
I LOVE the look & simplicity!! I have two questions: 1) Will the Danish oil help make the terracotta pots less porous - so it wont allow moisture to evaporate through the outside? 2) Is it food-safe?
would this "seal" the pot? i hope not bc thats what i like about them; that it's breathable which is great for my cacti but some of the pots i have are too light and i want to darken them. pls let me know
A lot of people have suggested vinegar water for cleaning terracotta pots but I am worried about it seeping into my plants after potting. Can you suggest something else?
Danish oil is a wood finishing oil that is applied to wood in order to seal it and give it a nice finish. It can be used on terra cotta for almost the exact same purpose as wood.
Nice job. Good DIY!
A nice, elegant look. Thanks for sharing.

Happy holidays! I love how they turn out and I reapply only as necessary.

No I didn't. It just was very dusty when I purchased it.

In my experience it does not help slow down evaporation unfortunately....it would be nice though!
@@JhulysAquaticsGardening thanks!
You're quite welcome!

Unfortunately, the answer to both of your questions is no....

No, it does not seal the pot. Thanks for watching!
Does Danish oil protect the pot from frost ?,because where I live it can freeze during winter
I don't believe so...

Just leave them submerged in rainwater for a while after cleaning with vinegar. That will wash everything out.
How much was the pot if I may ask?
I paid $29 for it on sale! I have a video on my channel with my shopping haul from that day.
What is danish oil?

Looks better before
looked great before, waste of time imo
Fair enough
