You are sowing and in New Zealand I'm harvesting =-) . Collecting jars from the rubbish transfer station boiling them up and getting them ready to fill with garden produce. The Mother's season slowly turning. Enjoy placing and organising your pots, it's great fun. Take care. =-)

Oiling those pots is a brilliant idea! I've never gotten real terracotta pots because they crack, etc. We can have frost here until the middle of April. Love the way your greenhouse has turned out. It looks like it's very enjoyable to work in.
Yes it is enjoyable - I love the extra space. I just came across this tip - do a little more research, Some people line their pots with bubble-wrap and some people oil them inside too - I think it depends on your climate. xx
I have absolutely enjoyed every one of your videos and have learned something new every time. Definitely things I will share with my children. So sad how doing simple things yourself inside and outside of your home has been forgotten. It’s like we have forgotten how to tend for ourselves. Thank you for sharing your wisdom! I hope the upcoming spring brings you plenty of blessings and energy!!! 💫
And may it bring the same to you Tia. I think you are right, too many people give away their power and think they can't do things for themselves???? xx
Good morning to you Terri, lovely photograph of the area, what beautiful countryside you have to enjoy and inspire your work. I have one or two terracotta pots mostly don't do too bad, only one this year small pieces came off it in slices, giving me the impression the clay had been layered , the pot though remains whole.pretty much like the skyline in your photograph the clouds are in layers and different shapes but put together its whole, gaspingly beautiful sky. Hugs and Blessings 💚🌹
I love our countryside very much and yes the sky is incredible - so high and so wide. That sounds kind of silly but you will know what I mean. It is the sky that attracts so many artists here - it is always changing. xx
I so love your potting shed (“greenhouse “)❤❤❤… I so wish I had the sunlight to grow all things… I have a little patch which makes it very valuable gardening real estate…and all reserved for my herbs 😊
Glad you have a patch for herbs- it is surprising what you can achieve even with a little patch and less time weeding too so more time to enjoy the herbs😀

I've always loved terracotta pots however I've lost so many here with our Ohio climate. I will definitely be using this idea. Thank you for this great idea!

Thank you Terri for the tip of oiling terracotta pots, I will have to do the few I have. Where you visiting Navan Fort in Armagh, i live about 20 mile from it, it's a great place to visit. Your last video was great about The Holy Well. The ancient graveyard looks identical to the ancient Church of Ireland graveyard that is five minutes walk from my house. My dad is buried in it, and it was once an ancient pagan site. From my kitchen window I'm looking across a field to what was once a Rath, it's great all the ancient sites. If you get time sometime and Google Magherally old church and graveyard it is steeped in history, one of the Brontes got married in the old ruin church. The Bronte homeland is not far from me either, Patrick Bronte was born in Rathfriland northern Ireland. Thank you again xx
What a view - sounds wonderful. Yes i was in Armagh and hope to put out a film about that. The graveyard was on my home, in Faughert near Dundalk. Lots of fairy folk near you i bet. xx
Sure is Terri, Dundalk not that far either, I’m just 15 miles from the border at Newry. Looking forward to Navan Fort video, take care and thank you again for taking the time to post xx

Hello Terri! I should try oiling my terracotta pots. The summer here in Central Queensland is very hot! Keeping my herbs hydrated is a full-time job, so this might work. Wishing a Beautiful Full Moon Tonight!🌝🌟🐝🌺🌸
Lovely terracotta pots....well done Terri!! And your greenhouse is a very brillant idea to gain more space .. Thanks a lot ...big big hugs from Wales...🥰🥰😘😘😘
It looks as if you are getting a great start on the garden! I'm holding my breath here in SW FL. It is record-breaking hot weather ( high 80°s and low 90°s). I built a shade house this year, just in time! Now dealing with an armadillo invasion, they dig right into the roots of my garden plants. I don't give up easily (it's that Irish blood 😉). It lightened up my heart to see this great video and how well things are going there!! ALWAYS A GREAT INSPIRATION! Thank you both!
How do you cope? I think I would wilt into a pool of mush with that heat! Hope your shade house helps and hope your armadillos move on soon!! Blessings Carolyn xx
@Danu's Irish Herb Garden Thank you! I found the perfect natural solution to those pesky critters! Castor Oil! They just hate it, so I put it all around my gardens, and they moved on to greener pastures. I love the exciting health benefits of castor oil packs. It truly is a gift from Mother Earth! (even in the garden!)
Your channel came up & I’ve watched two videos, then subbed. I love terracotta planters, never knew about oiling them but it makes sense. I’m in the USA and bring my pots into the garage, it gets below freezing here. It’s April 5 & was 30 degrees, we don’t plant till May.
@@aldas3831 Ha ha! Of course. The old half of the greenhouse has a gravel floor which is great. The only drawback is compost and soil falling into it and then weeds growing but that is not really a problem so could do gravel. thanks again.
Fabulous as always. I’m in the North of Ireland & had frost damage to a couple of my large terracotta pots this winter- will use your oiling method for any replacements! Thank you.
Wow, I never knew you could oil pots to protect them/help hold water. I can't leave mine out in winter here but I do clean them out and keep in greenhouse which subjects them to temp. changes. I will try this! Thanks for the tip! Blessings!
The shed is looking great. I love the new pots looking forward to seeing how they look when dry. I never thought about oiling terra cotta pots, it makes perfect sense. I prefer terra cotta but some of my plants get dry very quickly so I had to switch them to hard plastic. I might give this a try this spring during re-potting. Blessings xx
Thank you for sharing your knowledge🥰. The place you went to sounds magical. My ancestral roots are in Ireland, County Donegal and Glasgow City,UK and surrounding areas. I would love to visit Ireland some day. I am in love with history. I love lavender as well💜I made lavender, passion flower, ginger salve for gifts this past year, as well as calendula and lavender salve💚🥰💚 thank you for sharing all that you do! Much love from Tennessee, US
What a clever solution for terracotta pots .I'm not sure it would be enough for our winters here I always wrap ours in bubble wrap, not pretty but effective !I was horrified to hear about the rancid oil ,yuch ☹️. xx
Definitely best to stick to organic oil in dark glass bottles. The other type is likely to be rancid and deodorised and is oxidised too with all the light and heat. Bubble wrap could go inside too and the oil might help with evaporation xx
Brilliant idea as I have lots of terracotta pots which I have 'worried' about lasting through frosts. I am so pleased to have found your videos to help with my gardening skills!
Really surprised to see you oil your terra cotta. I live at 6,000' elevation in Colorado. We have extreme temps both cold and hot and I've never heard of this. We have terra cotta and use them and keep them outside year round and have never had issues. I love the permeability of the product and use them exclusively rather than plastic, or other, because of this. But, who knows, your area may be different. Your greenhouse is looking really good. Nice to see things come along.
Surprising that they don't suffer frost damage! Maybe your pots are super strong!?? We don't really get frost damage here on the coast so i am just preparing for all eventualities - mainly to prevent evaporation in summer. Greenhouse is a great space now - lots of room to breathe xx
We just soak them in water. If there is scaling, just scrub. The plain terra cotta lets the plants breathe better has been our experience. But we live in the Southern US. Totally different climate.
I'm excited to get out into my community garden plot. Last year I tried to grow lavender but it is a tough seed to sprout! Needless to say, nothing came up. I probably should have started them indoors and then sown the sprouts outside. 20/20 hindsight. If I lived down the road, I'd stop by and help you both! I love doing outdoor planting and growing. ❤
I have found Lavender difficult to sprout too but fortunately a lady a few miles up the road does it easily so I can get some from her. Thanks for the offer of help, we shall enjoy you here in spirit xx😀
I used terracottas indoors but they tend to crystalize if that is the word. Terracottas are great for outdoors or in a greenhouse. Now I use ceramic pots indoors.
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden I'm not really sure it could be the temperature of the house that's causes the crystalization & mold on the pots. I was disappointed because I love using terracotta pots and I bought so many of them.
Thanks for sharing! Beautiful pots in a wonderful greenhouse & a very wise woman! I must try oiling my indoor terracotta pots because the soil dries out so fast. I think I’ll try coconut oil but will try to research this. I read that you used 3 coats of sunflower oil. Did the color change back to brown when they dried? Blessings to all🤗💜🇨🇦
I used three coats because once it was dried the pots looked exactly the same. I figured that the oil had been drawn into the terracotta so put on two more coats - 3 is a magical number. Colour was back to the original colour xx
Hiya Terri, I do love terra cotta but obviously my climate does not really allow unfortunately. However did find it most interesting coating with oil to help, interesting to me was your thoughts re sunflower oil? Do you have a video on the different oils good bad etc? Would like to know Thankyou blessings to you and yours from a snowy southern Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 🐝
Hi Beverley, no i don't have a video about oils but I would definitely advise everyone to avoid "veg" oil in clear plastic bottles as it will have oxidised and may be dangerous to consume. That is the information from any good nutritionist. xx Always buy organic oil that is cold pressed. xx
What a great idea for the pots! We are going to try your microgreens in small styrofoam coolers. Can these be grown in an apartment window, since they don't have to grow very large?
Of course, once they are a healthy three to four inches - depending on what you are growing, cut them time and again. I have put in peas, kale, some coriander and some lettuces.xx
Hello! The pots are beautiful. I'd love to find some here in NC. The sifter that you are using where did you get it? I could use something like that. Thank you so much. Take care!
The sifter is from an old dehydrator! You can buy real ones in garden centres, they are called riddles. I use this because it looks pretty much the same and does the same job re-purposed. xx
I love your videos and I have also been working on my land to grow my own herbs/ fruit and vegetables, improve biodiversity and also prefer nature-based spirituality to all the oppressive religions. I personally don't like the term 'Northern Ireland' and believe all 32 counties to be one country, and certainly from all our culture, paganism, music, language, native sports and folklore, there is no division of our country, Of course everyone is free and should be free to call anywhere, anything they want to, but just for me in this particular video, I stopped watching this video after a few seconds when I heard 'Northern Ireland'. I would have just said I was in Co. Armagh, but of course each to their own
Dear Terri, I hope you never stop making these videos. You are changing people's lives; mine, for sure. 🙏🏾♥️ 🕯️

I did not know that you could oil terracotta pots to protect them from frost. That's cool!
I only found out recently. Helps to stop evaporation too. xx
We just soak them in water. If there is scaling, just scrub. The plain terra cotta lets the plants breathe better has been our experience. But we live in the Southern US. Totally different climate.
From other comments these pots behave differently wherever they are. xx
Thanks for this idea !
You're welcome! xx
How unusual - can't understand that ??
Never knew to do this thank you ❤
😊👍👏👏👏👏💚🙏 Thankyou!
You are so welcome xx
Thank you
You're welcome
I learnt something new today🤪
We get very hot weather here … I do hope I can find some cool pots like yours🤪
Love your videos
Hurray! Delighted to hear that xx
That is the information from any good nutritionist. xx Always buy organic oil that is cold pressed. xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden thanks Terri🇨🇦🐝
I use this because it looks pretty much the same and does the same job re-purposed. xx
❤🧡💚💜
Thank you! xx
Did the colour of the pots lighten up again after the oil dried? Thank you!
Yes they did. I put on three coats of oil - quite liberally dolloped on - and the pots returned to their original colour xx

Can I ask the name of the sacred site you visited in Northern Ireland?
It has a number of names - Emain Macha, and Navan Fort although it is in Armagh, not Navan xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden thank you so much!
I shall have a few Lavenders for sale as I have taken lots of cuttings Angustifolia varieties dm me x
I was actually going to ask you a few things.... Thanks, I'll be in touch xx
You grow fruit tree you have land
I grow apple trees and fruit bushes xx Only a couple of apple trees
Terra cotta literally translation: cooked dirt 🪴
Armagh, but of course each to their own
I agree totally with your point of view and the only reason I said NI was for the non Irish viewers
