Is a used Audi A6 the best daily driver for sub $30,000?

- I leased this 2021 Audi A6 nearly 3 years ago, and as my lease comes to an end it seems fitting to talk about my experience with this phenomenal car! An A6 might not be the most exciting thing on the road, but now that they can be found for less than $30,000, they might be the most slept on luxury daily driver for cheap
Glad to see you uploading here again! You’re combining my two favorite things- cars and tech!
Glad you enjoy it!
I drive a 2022 Audi A6 Allroad, I can confirm that the V6 is great. The highway MPG is around 33-35 at 75 MPH and with the air ride suspension it rides and drives like a dream.
Great to have you back on this channel, Luke! 🚙
man ,for less than 30k ,thats a good buy especially since its very modern and has a lot of safety features.
I drove one of these a few months ago, beautiful interior and the drive was actually fairly sporty for such a big sedan. I really liked it
@@keith.s7139 nice, i mean for that kind of money its a lot of car, I mean the 4cyl variant is powerfull enough but the v6 would be my choice, just a much nicer engine in my opinion
In the 4 years it takes to pay the car off you will have $10000 more in repair bills
Terrible car
@@Imarida2 modern audis aren't like that tho
had a 2023 for a rental for two weeks, including weekend in north carolina recently. was the 2.0T and I thought it was a fantastic car. super quiet, well refined, software was quick and never locked up. really sad to turn it back in
Great to see more vids on the channel. Looking forward to seeing your next one
More to come!
actually it's not just a fancy VW Passat. The A6 is not on the MQB plaform. And if I'm not mistaken, the A6 engine is longitudinally mounted and not transverse.
Mate, I stopped watching when you said it’s a Passat with an Audi badge. For your info, and specially if you’re going to make reviews on Audis, the A6 is manufactured on the MLB platform (shared with some suvs, A8, etc). It is manufactured in Neckarsulm and it has nothing to do with the passat apart from the engine they may share (in the US you have the turbo 3.0V6 under model 55 or the EA888 4cyl). The Passat is built under the MQB platform. Main difference for the non VAG people? The MQB runs transverse engines with or w/o awd, whereas the MLB runs longitudinal engines, and here is where you find the real quattro cars with potential for RWD bias. So driving dynamics are TOTALLY different. The model you have there, if it is quattro and it has a 4 cyl, has the newer quattro ultra that replaced the central torsen for a central diff coupler with clutch packs to improve efficiency (yuck).
Had a Passat as a rental, super ride, quite and limo like.
I LOVE your content, first tech, and now cars! What's next?
4:25 has a lot of meme potential, great review by the way.
You can get an ECU tune from APR or Unitronic for less $1000 bucks and get additional 60HP. Will make up for not having a V6 and still have the same MPG.
I'm still driving a 1993 Audi V8 4.2L, I love Audi's of any era. However the maintenance after they are out of warranty is a concern. I also like to poke fun at Audi , while I know the the 4 rings represent the 4 different manufacturers that were brought together to form Audi, but, I like to think that it is a reminder of how many wheels belong on the car, or how many shots the engineers had before making repair items very inaccessible, lastly if you put any number in front of the 4 rings it could represent a future repair bill. I love your videos on apple and automotive, Thank you!
😆
Very pretty car 😍😍
And host 😊😊😊
teehee 🤭
2:20 WTH kind of stabilised mount are you using??? Is it even the mount or is it the camera, the lens, post production or all of the above?
😂Have a friend who swore off of Audis for life, but I guess they are alright if they're still in their spring chicken phase with all scheduled maintenance done.
Anyone who calls it just a VW have not driven one. I’ve had both and the driving dynamics and quality of an Audi is above what you get on a Jetta or Passat
Had my c7 a6 for two years now. Bought it with 59k miles for 17k. No issues whatsoever in two years. oil changes are a little more expensive, but overall repair cost have been ZERO. Maybe I got lucky but it’s been the best car I’ve ever had.
I own an 23 A6 4-Cyl and I’m loving it. Design in every aspect is functional and it’s meant for a comfortable ride as opposed to sporty oriented , if you appreciate luxury- A6 is great choice! Japanese cars would never compare ,Germans nail the driver experience, design with a piece of mind in everything.
Exceptional review by the way , i think if I did a review on mine it would be exact same 😃
dont forget, for some reason you could also get the 2 liter in the q7 lol
Luke remembered his Middle Lane channel password :)
How different is it from A4/A5?
Living in Ingolstadt Germany, you can expect to see a third of the cars you can see are Audi high end vehicles costing at least 70-80k lmao, it’s always funny to see visitors reactions when they come here
Hi Luke How much is the insurance?
Yooo! Long time!
Just have to keep in mind that the repair bills will be ALOT higher when you go BMW, Mercedes, or Audi ..not to mention the value they lose..for most ppl a lexus is a better choice for luxury that is reliable, and they hold their value for quite a long time!! Just something to keep in mind if your worried about maintenance bills
Crazy you are recording this with an iPhone 11 (or 12) I think it’s an 11
What's maintenance cost on that A6? Any research I do points out that German cars fall apart after five years. My 2017 Camry still drives like new at 57,000 miles.
I have a feeling a lot of the repair craze over German cars is due to their customers. Most people buy them and rip them apart, redline them any chance they get, smash brakes, and when stuff breaks they blame the car. I’ve had my a6 for 2 years now and yeah I have fun with it but I drive like a normal person 99% of the time and have never had anything go wrong. I just hit 90k miles on it
@@Elm98do you have a 2.0t c7? I own a c7 also with 2.0t and had to replace water pump due to leaking coolant at 65k and front control arms and struts at 67k bushings on the arms were worn and the shock absorbers were done for. I also drive normally, but I’m surprised you didn’t have a repair need from 59k miles to 90k miles i’d call it lucky. Now a coming up maintenance is replacing rotors because they developed groovers and have glazed. Oh and i replaced axles because outer cv joints were clunking on turns (it’s a fwd) and symptoms showed up at 50k i want to say…
this ain’t a badge glorified passat as you stated cuz the passat is based in a front wheel drive plattform whereas the a6 is based on a rear wheel drive one
Let’s be honest doesn’t matter if it looks like a Passat
true yeah

Holy moly this is a used bargain already?
Run for the hills on the A6. Look at what it will cost for future repairs. Audi's are extremely expensive for upkeep.
I think it is a great purchase for the money. You still have low miles on the car after three years.
With less than 30k, I'd better buy an M3 e90 which is much more fun to drive.
You can get a used 2014-2015 Lexus LS460 F-Sport with less than 100k miles for around $25k. What does that get you?
385 hp V8, 6 piston Brembo front calipers, Mark Levinson premium stereo, 19” BBS forged wheels, Torsen limited slip differential and air suspension.
The air suspension will eventually be a very pricey fix when it fails but there are conversion kits to change it to a regular suspension.
I have one of these and I used to have an Audi before. The Audi ended up being a money pit in the end.
Almost any used high end luxury car is going to cost you some $ when you first buy it to catch up on any “deferred” maintenance the previous owner chose not to do. 😂
I love the car but wouldn’t keep one outside of its warranty, but that’s true for any German make. The Germans expect you to spend the original value of the car in maintenance over the vehicles life. Secondly, completely agree about the interior quality vs bmw and MB. However, much more than a rebadged Passat in every way (except the engine itself). Speaking of, the 2.0l is cheaper and easier to maintain however, the 3.0 is a much better driver.
Not my experience with 🇩🇪 cars
@@isimonsez which is?
cool..., that engine is in an aircraft, huh? 😹
Until first major malfunction and you will regret buying this German sofa on a wheels. But I don’t expect that level of sanity and maturity from Apple fanboy. 😂
Missed a very big detail, the reliability. Undeniably the worst part of any fancy German car is the extensive and expensive repair costs. The electronic door handles, cost a fortune to fix, and that’s just one example. To be fair, driving it around the city in a dry climate, similar to your use, will not make the vehicle as prone to repairs but if you are constantly driving on highways in snow, heavy rain, the electronics, no matter how well built, will eventually face the need to repair.
While I do agree that an A6 is a spectacular car, making a review without factors that can substantially hurt a consumer looking to buy a vehicle, is not your level of quality. I’ve known you from Porsche builds and tech vids and an all around accredited channel but this video is slightly misleading.
I’d rather get a used tesla model 3
Sorry to hear that.
Glad you’re back. Love the channel. Let’s run it back soon…
This A6 is Absolutely NOTHING LIKE A DAMN VW PASSAT. I OWNED a 2020 Passat, now a 2022 A6. Completely different car, different feel, it's quicker, and the it takes curves unlike anything in its class, quattro is amazing better than the 4 motion of VW & I can't even speak on the innovations and options. I happen to also own the top line PRESTIGE, Premium Plus is not the best trim level...too many ppl wit cameras and opinions.
I agree. I held out for a A6 CPO Prestige and I'm happy I did. Love the heads up display and and soft close doors.
