I've been trying for a while to figure out how the asteroids besieged the planet and I think I understand now, but I might be wrong so help me out if I am.
The point isn't that Thrawn released enough asteroids to form a minefield around the planet, it's that he threatened that. The Republic couldn't know how many asteroids there are, and couldn't see them. They got lucky by shooting blindly and getting all of them, but the Republic had to check if the threat was clear before the shield could be lowered. And the only way to be certain if you got them all was that crystal thing.
That's pretty much it. The Republic was afraid they'd miss an Asteroid and de-activating the shield might cause great catasthrope even if one Asteroid was still left there. Talon Karrde however was in the system Thrawn got the asteroids and managed to tell the Republic about the real number of asteroids. By then, if I recall, the asteroids had been destroyed but the Republic was worried there might be more.
Super hyped for Thrawn in the SWEU. He was name dropped in The Mandalorian.

To counter the asteroids, use a helluvalotof seismic charges in orbit. Those have a large enough blast radius to cover the portion of orbit. Also, they could have placed a mine field around the planet...
when i was younger i used to draw out battle fields on paper kinda in the format you do these vidos. if i may ask what do you use? id love to mess around with it to bring back old memories (i also did it with starwars mainly space battles)

Republic should use the ion bombs or ion cannons like those in ea battlefront2 Naboo campaign, clone wars Malastare campaign or the one on Malevolence. The area effect of these ion weapons can disable the cloak devices on the astroids.
Skywalker Alan they had Delta Source feeding empire information so thrawn probably would have heard about it and came up with a different strategy. Plus the only ship with that power was destroyed and their most likely were no plans anywhere because Emperor Palpatine destroyed cis facilities.

Well, there's another thing Thrawn did in the end: he failed. And he was killed because, honestly, he was far from perfect.
"Coming very close" is pointless. The point is, things did not actually go the way he planned. And he died.
Let's be clear: the first battle that he didn't plan for in some way KILLS him. No matter how many times he won, all the enemy needed to do was get one by him. Once.

I think Yuuzhan Vong would either destroy the Eldar or get into a stalemate with them. I don't know about the second one, but the third one....

Both are really scary.

Yes, but Hammerhead kind of counts as part of 'Tau have railguns' at times. Also a Hammerhead can ruin any infantry's day with its person shattering railgun.
Also, you forget the titan killer. Tiger Shark (has to go to FW) AX-1-0.
Those chain railguns on the hull are very good. The Barracuda is also a superb fighter , the amount of missiles and railguns on them is terrifying. The Kroot and the Vespids would also cause a problem

Well, the Thrawn trilogy was actually written BEFORE the prequels were released. Coruscant is actually not described as a planet completely covered by city.

They pulled that off by crappy writing, not any skill or merit. The fact the first order somehow controls the whole galaxy an hour after episode 7 shows that. The fact the leader of their military fell for the "I can't hear you" joke, is all the proof you need of their incompetence.

The interdictors were already deployed by then. Thrawn has always removed the one thing the New Republic relied on far too much that it should be a meme.

What about when Thrawn tricked them to believe he could fire through planetary shields by firing at the shield, then having a cloaked ship under the shield fire in rhythm to appear as if it was going through?
Thrawn is good tactician that he is able to use a wide variety of ships to deliver a blow to his enemy

"Sieged" and "besieged" are both correct when used as a transitive verb. Using "sieged" is a bit archaic, though.
Normally that would be true, but in this case the cloaked asteroids forced Coruscant to keep their planetary shield up until they could be sure that they were all gone. With their shield up, they were unable to get anyone off the planet, essentially meaning that they were blockaded.

I liked him in Rebels cu he's alive than being killed by His Bodyguard rukh in legends but overall what a great masterplan he is
One of the two "outside the box" ways Thrawn used cloaking devices. The other way was in the infiltration of the Sluis Van shipyards. The Ukio attack was also innovative but closer to classic use of a cloaking device. Thrawn used cloaking devices more for deception than stealth.

I would honestly go 40/60 on that one. The Viper MK II has maneuvering thrusters, which make some crazy turns and evasions possible. That said, the A-Wing has probably a good bit more speed than even a Viper MK VII and light shields which could take a few hits.
Equal piloting skill, the Viper MK II probably pulls it out of the fire and wins 3/5 times.
The only thing for certain you can say about Thrawn, he was the closest to have ever destroyed the Republic.
Now what I wouldn't give for a Legends book where Thrawn survives and leads the New Empire against Palpatine and then against the Yuuzhan Vong.

It's a pity we don't see any of Thrawn's true strategic potential and genius from the EU in Rebels. What a waste! That show did him no justice at all, because as we can see in Legends he is twice as savage and downright absolute badass!

I always welcome videos on Thrawn, super cool character.
I would send an unmanned space vehicles, so they would be destroyed by "an invisible asteroid", and either make it visible, or at least give me a targeting solution. There were only 22 cloaked Asteroids on Orbit. It's almost impossible to hit them! Especially if You try to cover orbits of different azimuth. You'd run a cargo convoy with 500 ships, and oops 1 destroyed. Mechanical failure is more probable than hitting those asteroids.
Man Thrawn is just the absolute best isn't he. Part villain, part intellectual, all tactician, no force or mystical shenanigans, just pure tactical thinking.

A good question to ask is; would Thrawn have been such a bad leader if the New Republic fell? He was fair to his men by and large, didn't display the racism inherent to the Empire, and could well have turned back the Vong and other threats with considerably less loss of life
Thrawn was and still is the best villain in Star Wars. No other Admiral, not even Lord Vader or Grand Moff Tarkin can match Thrawn's coldness.

Masso 2010 I'd argue the Pilot and Titan because they can deal with armour much more effectively. Chief needs a tank, Warthog or specialised weaponry to defeat even a few tanks. A Vanguard Titan can deal with pretty much anything the Titanfall universe can throw at it.
