I hope this account’s still active. I would like to study in the Philippines, already found a va approved school. I was born in the Philippines, but now I’m a Us citizen. I get out the Army next year. I don’t have any idea on how to process it 😬
You can attend school on a regular tourist visa that requires you to visit an immigration office once every 2 months. If your school is on top of things they can do that for you but its not hard to reach an office and extend for yourself. Americans can stay up to 3 years in PH o a regular tourist visa which is awesome. You want to maintain an American account so they directly deposit your Monthly allowance and find a good ATM to withdrawal your funds and I paid for everything in PH in cash except for larger purchases at the mall I would use my visa card. Rent and day to day living expenses I paid for in cash.
Heyyo, just curious how long you had to wait to receive ur first paycheck from VA after enrolment? I am taking my Masters in Film this coming school year in PH and it will be my first degree under the GI bill. Thanks man!
Sorry for the late response. After you enroll and start your training or class, you should see it the first of the following month. Direct deposit to your account!
Hi great video, but I have some few follow up question. How long does the VA direct deposit the money in your account? My school in the Philippines already submitted the VA Form 22-1999 to the VA around Jan 02, 2019,it's gonna be almost a month now and I still havent received any direct deposit coming from them. My class already started last Jan 07, 2019. By the way, I'm doing an online class cos I can't physically be in Asia cos I transitioned to reserves from active duty.
I have a question, I'm applying for educational assistance (chapter 35). What is the Philippine rate for this benefit? And is there another benefit can I applied for? Thanks
Chris, I went to school for Film. I tok a one year program at The international academy of film and television which recently closed down. Silliman is the first american school in the P I. Located in Dumaguete I checked it out before and the campus is cool. If youve never been there check it out. Good luck! -Brandon
Good video, I was wondering, do you think it'd be the same process using voc rehab as the post 9/11? VA said no more chasing my current degree and offered voc rehab and I really want to go to the PI.
I dont know if Voc rehab will work in the PI to be honest.. I would just email your school of choice in the PI and talk with their registrar and see if they Accept the GI bill. Most schools in PI would but you need to reach out to them. If they are familiar with the VA process or have GI bill students enrolled it is a breeze. You take care of neccesary paperwork while your here in the United states and once you are approved to enter the school then pack up and move there. I live in the PI for a year on the GI bill.
Are you already in the Philippines? I had everything setup and approved with the VA rep from my school before I flew over there. if you are already over there then talk to a counselor at your school and have them get in contact with the VA. Or you can find a contact within the VA to get assistance from. Money should come at the the begging month of your semester, if it doesnt then it comes the following month.
Brandon Walker yeah, I been here since February. School got approved before I flew here as well. but for some reason my school delays submitting some paperwork’s that the VA needs. I have to step in like sending the the student handbook. No clue what to do next. It’s frustrating. I already started school and paying tuition on my own. If u have more info I’ll do appreciate it bro
@@mikmikee9159 What is the name of the school? You shouldnt have to pay the tuition. The tuition is covered under the GI bill so long as it has been approved. You should also be awarded around 1600 per month while your in school as your housing allowance. If this isnt happening by the start of your second month in school then I would be concered about that.
Brandon Walker bro I finish the sem and money hasn’t kick in yet. I couldn’t figure out what the hell im missing. I know I took care errthing before I left. I got here, school delay errthing. Last transaction I have VA ask how much is my tuition and convert it to dollars , that’s it , haven’t heard anything from them. I tried email I tried calling but no direct answer.
Its St.Paul university Iloilo. Counselors submit what the VA ask other than that haven’t heard from them over 30 days now. 😢😢. Do u know if VA would re Imburse what I spend here?
Brandon Walker Im talking about using 9/11 gi bill to study abroad after service. So basically 2 years of college in the military(gen ed) and 2 years of college out of military to earn bachelors deg using 9/11 gi bill.
In the beginning, you said "you'll get $1600" what are you talking about? Are you saying $1600 for classes? Or are you talking about housing? How does the VA determine the monthly housing allowance? Thanks in advance
Katrinacop 1600$ is the housing allowance you receive each month you are in school at an overseas institution. The classes will be covered by the go bill and you will get the housing allowance each month. Hope this helps, let me know if you have anymore questions!!
Just to verify with the $1,600 question... From what i got from your reply, it doesn’t matter wether you go to School in Manila or rural areas where cost of living is lower you would still receive a flat rate $1,600 for housing allowance? Not like the States where your BAH rate is depending on the zip code of the School?
@@bxsherwin18 Email the school, tell them you are an American, vet ofcourse. Start with building communication with one of the appropriate counselors. Ask if they accept the Post 911 as a form of payment for tuition. They should accept. At that point they will tell you what paperwork they need from you. Most like it will be HS transcript, act/sat scores if you have taken already. Most importantly you need to have a copy of your COE. Certificate of Eligibility. You get this paper via mail from the VA. This is one of the most important pieces you need. Take care of all paperworm before flying over. You dont want to worry about doing that once you arrive. Do you have anymore questions?
Can i use my gi bill for more than 4yrs?
Bro.
Just wondering will u have updated content in 2022?
Thank you
Yes I will, What would you like to know about the GI bill? I can give you personalized information on how to use it. Let me know!
Thanks bro?

Reach out to the school you want to go to by email or phone call and ask if they accept the gi bill as a form of payment. really easy

What if the school dont have a VA rep? How do you send your VA form, and other docs to VA? It process always change's

No philippine rate. Money comes in USD ( $ ) your monthly allowance will be somewhere around 1700 a month while in school
@@brandonwild92 Btw this is my third time applying for chapter 35. Im receiving 600+ usd a month. Va said that's the Philippine rate.
better idea is to transfer to chapter 33 if possible so you can receive a higher amount

You need to buy your own plane ticket
