  • Want to see what downtown Anchorage looks like? Check out this drive into, and out of downtown via the Glenn Highway.
MyDrivelapse.com and Takemytrip.com provide driving videos and stories to help you plan your trip. Check out hundreds of videos on my UA-cam channel. Subscribe if you like it! Dozens of new videos are on the way in the coming weeks.
I made this trip in May-June, 2016. Video shot with a Brinno TLC-200 Pro time-lapse camera, mounted on my roof with a homemade magnetic case. I travel with two Brinno cameras - one facing forward, the other in reverse. Sometimes the reverse camera captures better video (fewer raindrops and bugs hit the rear-view lens).

Thank you for posting this video. I enjoyed viewing it. I live in California. I enjoyed my visit to Anchorage in 1985 and again in the 1990's decade. Thank you.

olmose this video does not show how prominent the mountain views are in Anchorage. we were just there and it is amazing. you have to go to really appreciate it.

Some of my best memories are from Anchorage and Fairbanks. Used to play in bands and work for production companies up there (Top of the World, Power Sound etc) and played in every club up there in the 80's/ 90's plus hung out with some of the biggest bands in the world at Sullivan and other arenas. I lived off Turnagain Arm for a while. Some beautiful places up there. Most people think of Alaska as igloos and eskimos, but it is a major hub and every major band in the world has played there at some time.

Thats what some people think when they hear about scandinavia or russia too. They think polarbears and penguins walk the streets but its really like any other place, except the winters are longer, colder and darker, and the summers never get dark

My hometown. Minneapolis reminded me a bit of it with all the stretched-out foresty areas. Should get back to Anch someday.

The downtown area seems to just have a bunch of big box stores, would have been nicer to see something more local.

T Anon Nah, the country is incredibly diverse. Go to Upstate NY, then Southern Texas, then D.C., and finally got through Arizona and SoCal on your way to Hawaii. Very diverse.

Joseph Price I think he meant most medium sized US cities look the same, and I agree. Someone could change the title of this video to "Driving through Portland, Oregon" and I would believe it. Alaska is very beautiful, though.

I came here cos I thought Anchorage would be different than other US cities. But it's not. It's a boring generic copy of all the others. Damn America ain't got nothing on Europe when it comes to culture
