A driving tour of Whittier, Alaska + The Tunnel!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 жов 2024
- This drive begins at Seward Highway, and follows the Portage Glacier Road to, and through, the Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel. On the other side is Whittier -- and I think I drove on every street in town. Please let me know if I missed your favorite!

I made this trip in May/June, 2016. Video shot with a Brinno TLC-200 Pro time-lapse camera, mounted on my roof with a homemade magnetic case. I travel with two Brinno cameras - one facing forward, the other in reverse. Sometimes the reverse camera captures better video (fewer raindrops and bugs hit the rear-view lens).

Excellent. A different view.
Very nice video. I like the speed up aspect to keep things moving along.
Great video and a darn sight better weather when I was there last year at the end of my cruise. It was so misty I could barely see the trains from the docked ship but once through the tunnel the weather was clear.
My Daughter and her mom went there yesterday, it was pretty nice
Nicely done. Thanks.
So there's a lot more there than just the High Rise like all the other YT videos like to portray.
That music is going to haunt me in my dreams tonight. It sounded like a bad arcade game from the 1980's. Video footage was kind a cool though.
Used to haul fish from the pier in Whittier to Kenai. Wild!!
Offloaded samon there in 98 for the season.
Got off the Star Princess there and did the Land Tour ,
it was Fantasic and will do it again....
P.S. ....Your back-ground music could use a little work...
but still Great...Thanks...

Thinking very hard about moving to BTI next year. Planning to visit in the dead of winter to see what that is all about. Thanks for the tour.
DONT DO IT ITS HORRIBLE HERE HONESTLY ITS HELL ON YOUR MENTAL AND THERE IS ALOT OF SHIT TALKING WITH THE LOCALS
Do you live in it? Hows the city holding with corona
I love how almost everyone in Whittier lives in those Condos! I think they are called the Tower Condos if I remember correctly? I love making this drive from Eagle River (my subdivision a little north of Anchorage).
The big building called Buckner Building The apartment was than called Hodge building I was there end of 1958 and all of
1959 .Thanks for the pictures you have,It sure has changed since I was there.
Thanks. Great video.
Nice
wow i stuck around for the whole thing
ITS BEAUTIFUL DURING THE SUMMER BUT DONT MOVE HERE OKAY
Great concept but the music doesn’t fit if you’ve traveled. You need “road music.”
Buen video niss
Never stopped at stop signs. Not one.
I assure you that I stop at stop signs. The accelerated video often makes it appear that I didn't.
Come on, the guy was lost, a few times going in circles. Why bother with those shtinking STOP signs!!!! 😜
He's also going over 100 miles per hour for most of it! Or, wait, maybe it's just sped up and you can't really tell.
nice tunnel how long is that tunnel and whats the speed limit
When you came to those road closed signs, you turned around. Was the road closed, or did the road end at that point? I've tried to go back and watch, but no luck. Thanks.
I lived there for about a year. It was terrible.
Çok ilginç geldi bana
Whittier looks pretty big for a town where everyone lives in one building.
Hi.. nice drive and beautiful place. I have subscribed and hope you too. Thanks
