  • I do my full review of the 2002 Honda S2000, a Japanese legend! The Honda S2000 is a roadster manufactured by Honda since 1999 and was created to celebrate the company's 50th anniversary, and continues in the tradition of lightweight roadster "S" cars such as the S600 and S800. The S2000 comes with a 6-speed manual transmission and its legendary 2.0L 4-cylinder engine making 240HP with a screaming 9,000RPM redline. I give you my full review of driving this purpose-made sports car 20 years later!

An underappreciated aspect of the S2000 is that its release spurred other automakers to up their game. The first model year S2000 was cheaper, quicker, and better looking than the competitors, even from the premium brands (BMW Z3, Boxster, Audi TT). The S2000 has stood the test of time. The pure driving experience, reliability, and timeless looks are why they're still in hot demand, while you don't see the same for its contemporaries.

Just got one. Think I need a new clutch the grapping point is legit at the top like right when you're about to let out completely off the clutch at top it starts to kinda a pain in the ass any ideas on what causes this. ? I'm guessing needs a new clutch and flywheel and everything else. Thanks again and any info would be greatly appreciated

They don’t have snap oversteer, they have mid engine tendencies meaning you have to stay on the throttle when things get sketchy… similar to a motorcycle or anything rear/mid engine.

Honestly I've still not driven anything that has the 'fun factor' of an S2000 on a twisty canyon road. Yes there are more powerful cars that go much faster in a straight line, yes there are more modern cars with suspension that can outperform the S2000's humble tried and true X shape monocoque chassis with double wishbones. Yet, even 23-24 years later, nothing else has managed to capture the fun of operating an S2000 in its element.

After a total of 15 years of storage. I took out my Honda Prelude 96 SR-V. Those 90's Honda cars are fun to drive. Kept it pretty much stock except for the suspension and Apexi N1 exhaust.
I had a better time with my Prelude than the BMW M3 V8 convertible from my family member. Manual transmission is so much fun compared to paddle shifts!!

I've driven a couple S2k's over the years but have yet to afford one for myself.
My b16 swapped 89 CRX is just as hard to describe as far as driving experience. Sum it up best as "It's not fast, but it's damn fun."
    I'd trade my crx for a s2k any day. but until then, I enjoy my 9k rpm 170hp 1,900lb fwd go-kart. Someday I'll get me a S2000.

Head on over to Rennlist and read all the regret stories from 911 owners who wish they had never sold their S2000.
