Looks delicious! I haven’t used potatoes before, so it’s time to try that. I’ll freeze dry my leftovers for busy-day dinners or quick lunches on the go. Love your channel!🎉
Love this recipe!!! Two small additions: I ladle in a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and I include a half a cup of red lentils. Not a big fan of lentils but they are just fine playing second fiddle in this delicious soup!!! Also, am I the only one who soaks all beans overnight with a tablespoon of baking soda added to the water?
@@wholefoodplantbasedcookingshow My niece is staying with us after hip surgery and I am so eager to introduce her to your wonderful channel. Fixing her your vegan Mac and Cheese for dinner tonight!
Freezing here too in CT the past days so when I saw Jill's recipe, I ran out and got the split peas and made a pot last night!!! So hearty, healthy and delicious!!! It makes a nice big pot, so loving the left-overs!! I always look forward to Sundays to see what Jill is whipping up!!! Thank you, Jill!❤💚

Perfect timing, thank you. I'm expecting 2 lbs of Rancho Gordo split peas any day now!! So worth the splurge even if I can't afford them, lol. I might add some soy milk for added protein and creaminess.
Hi Jill. Love your channel...always fabulous, with clear instructions. A question...Have you used Bamboo flour? What is your opinion of it, nutritionally and ease of use? Trying to go low-carb to jump-start weight loss. Thanks!
I hope someone can give me some insight on something I find puzzling. Sauteing in oil changes flavors, but what is the point of water sauteing some of the vegetables in a separate step, when everything is cooked together for quite a while anyway? I've done it both ways and notice no difference, yet see so many WFPB channels repeating the procedure. I spend a lot of time prepping for meals, so when it comes to cooking it, the less fuss the better --- which is why the dump and go convenience of the Instant pot is my go-to!
@@wholefoodplantbasedcookingshow I've heard others say it concentrates flavors, but they generally just get diluted again when adding liquids back! Like I said, my ancient taste buds don't notice a difference, seems to me it's done more out of habit from when we sautéed in oil --- which DOES noticeably change flavors/texture. Unless of course I'm trying to actually caramelize something, or making a recipe that has a short cooking time and want to soften certain veggies first, I guess I'll just skip the extra step. Thanks Jill!
It's 17° with the wind chill in Michigan right now. Thanks Jill I could use something yummy to warm me up when I'm freezing. 🤤♥️🤤
Jill, I love the way you approach our way of eating and making it all simple and easy. Kudos and praise!

Looks so good, I love split pea soup. If you soak the dried split peas overnight they will sprout.
Made this tonight with garlic rye toast. Wow. Great recipe .
We are on the same wavelength! MIchael was requesting split pea soup this morning. I make mine the same way!
This looks delicious and I’m definitely making this! I’m based in the UK and it’s super cold here

I like to finely chop some ginger root into my split pea. It gives the soup a nice little surprise pop.

Hot soup for a cold day. 12F with a -0F windchill here in the windy city.
I love your presentation. I hate when others play music and we watch them chopping their vegetables. Your method is way better.🎉
Making this now. Chilly here in NY state too.
They should have a “love” button.
Thank you Paul
Just this morning I bought celery, carrots and onions to make split pea soup.
Fantastic!

What can I use if I don’t have liquid smoke
Smoked paprika
Could you make it with lentils instead?
Yes

It just adds a little more depth of flavor but honestly it isn’t that noticeable.
