    For people who say “yeah but my car has a higher top speed”, so what. The fun part is the acceleration. When you fly in a passenger jet, do you find it more fun to be cruising at 500 MPH or during the takeoff? The acceleration is what makes it fun.

      None of those people have a car faster than "Lucid Air" Electric 4 door Sedan. The stripped prototype achieved 235.44 miles per hour at TRC Ohio. The production version will be limited to 217 miles per hour. Lucid Air has 3 Motors total 1000hp. 2 Rear motors have a Geared CVT transmission that uses Compound Planetary Gears. Thus why it has different gear ratios. Who ever said BEV are not Outright Fast is now factually wrong.

      Speed limits exist on the road. Speeding is illegal. Accelerating quickly to the speed limit is not.

    Epic!! Would love a Tesla as a daily driver one day. I reckon Tesla must have caused a few uncomfortable board meetings at the likes of Mercedes, Audi, BMW headquarters. Love or hate Tesla, they have pushed the game on. 👍

    Mate...I love this ! I drove a P90D Model S with Ludicrous Mode about 18 months ago and it's still one of the most impressive cars I've driven. The instant torque is addictive :-)
    You should have put a tenner on the dash and got Tom to try and get it ;-)

    As a ~5 year Tesla S (2013 P85+) owner, I have to say that having the ability to charge at home makes the car basically a no-brainer. You start every day with a full charge, or at least as full as you want it to be. It's amazing! Best car I've ever owned.

  • @karlvanginderdeuren4009

    What many people seem to forget is that you can charge it at home everyday, so you only need to find a charging station when driving more than 200 miles in a day. What is the percentage of people that on average drive more than 200 miles on a day. Very few I guess. Also, charging it is way cheaper than buying petrol.

    • @dewstergreen664

      When I an overnight charges only provided something like 40or 50miles which for most people is sufficient

    • @lovecarsTV
      @lovecarsTV  6 років тому

      Very true, the main hurdle is long distance driving, but as we say in the film, that's where the supercharger network comes in. 👍

    • @karlvanginderdeuren4009

      Lovecars in Belgium you see many Tesla’s everyday. Probably also due to 120% fiscal deductibility that has been there for a few years. We have many charger stations as well.
      I love how Tesla is so good in certain aspects of building a car, that people forgive them lacking overall build quality. Sat in a model x lately. Ludicrous(ly) expensive and still buttons of Mercedes from ten years ago. Kudos to the Elon gang.

    • @Duvoisin3
      @Duvoisin3 6 років тому

      Exactly what I was about to say. You should buy a Tesla if you can charge at home. Superchargers are for long trips and assuming you leave home fully charged, having a supercharger next to home is not so relevant (not at all in my view unless you are a commercial driver who needs to get back to business asap).
      Just a btw, have a loko in a few days at my channel. I am going to start posting videos of my incoming Tesla Model S.

    I’ve had a P90D with Ludicrous for just over 2 years now. You never tire of the acceleration - not just the sheer brute force but after a while you climb back into something with a clutch and gears and it feels like you’ve climbed into a Austin A40 that your grandad threw out because it was just, well, naff.... The charging bit is a mindset change - plug it in wherever you go, it’s cheap and you get very used to not pumping smelly diesel or petrol and paying £90 every time you stop. A word of warning though...... if your route passes Superchargers or, if there’s charging at your destination or, if your trip can be done in one charge then happy days. If you have to go off route to find a charger remember that a 15 minute detour becomes a 30 minute round trip which, when added to the 30 minute charge takes you up to an hour compared with a 4-5 minute fill up in a conventional car. I’ll never ever go back to patrol or diesel but it won’t suit everyone.

    Well OF COURSE you get a charger at home! The Tesla charger isn't even expensive. If you can afford a P100D, you could buy the charger with pocket change. Once you have a charger in your garage, it takes 5 seconds to plug it in when you get home. Every morning I have a full tank. I daily drive a 2017 Model S, and I have yet to use a supercharger. Wonderful car.

    • @lovecarsTV
      @lovecarsTV  6 років тому

      That would certainally be the ideal scenario, although not necessarily possible for everyone. Some houses and apartments don't have garages or driveways, so if you're parking on the street it's not really practical. Another alternative is charging while at work, and some workplaces have begun installing EV charge points in their office car parks etc. As the technology develops, I'm sure even more options will become available!

      +Lovecars My advice would be not to get an electric car if you do not have at the very least a 240V 13A supply you can plug the car into at night. That might sound harsh but really you are just making things difficult for yourself owning an electric car if you cannot charge it overnight.

    Great revue, as always. The question of fully electric, hybrids and plug-in hybrids will rumble on for a while yet. The problem for us taking people back and fore to Heathrow Airport from South Wales is fitting in the charging schedule. We can't do it with passengers in the car, they want a quick journey. We had a new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and gave up after a year due to its limited overall range (petrol and hybrid). Of course finding a working charge point where someone hasn't parked across it was a problem. Also in a plug-in hybrid the small gain in range was cancelled out by having to pay the driver for waiting. We replaced it with a Lexus RX450h (we already had a Lexus GS300h), which makes the Mitsubishi feel like a lightweight (the rear lights let in water from new) and the range on the Lexus hybrid was much better. I hope the comments are useful. Regards, Bob

      Yes that's brilliant... if there are superchargers where you live. If I want to travel to the South West of England or Central Wales (UK) there isn't a supercharger for 100+ miles away. And thats assuming you're going to drive straight there and back. It's just not ready for absolutely everybody's lifestyles just yet.

    You don't need to install a dedicated wall charger if your home already has any 240V outlet, which I believe is standard in Europe. And even in the States with 110V outlets, most homes have at least one 240V dryer outlet, so nearly all home-owners are set. It's apartment dwellers that will have to rely on Supercharging.

    You say you can plot in a route driving through Europe and the alps for charging stations, but that is also a problem.
    I want to plot a route of where I actually want to go, rather than where I have to go in order to fill up.
    And even though it is as you say powerful, I don't like the manner of which it delivers that power. Makes it less exciting.
    The torque curve of a true sports car is so much more involving.

    So refueling at house? That's more practical than going to a gas station.
    The challenges for true green tech, is to see how the car disposal will be after.. 10 years? How much components are reusable, and when will renewable energy source put up to practice at a larger scale.
    Creating a battery cause a lot of polution as well, and demand for battery will be so high with mass production of electric cars alongside other electronic gadgets that updates at a scary fast pace..

    Keep in mind that most EV drivers charge at home overnight, when electric rates are low, and they can have a "full tank" any morning. Charging at home is very convenient; like hang a petrol station at home. Most people don't use public chargers except on very long road trips.
    Additionally, as EVs are adopted by the millions over the coming years, there will be millions of charging locations added, including for street parking, offices, shops, apartments, car parks, etc.
    As EV owners are already finding, charging is much less of an issue than people make it out to be.
    EVs are quicker, quieter, cleaner, more efficient and better to drive than equivalent class fossil fuel cars. They have instant and smooth torque. EVs have much more predictable responses and handling largely as a result of the highly consistent and broad RPM range of motor torque. They also require almost no maintenance. Due to their 3x energy energy efficiency, EVs cost about 1/3 as much to operate as an equivalent fossil car.

    Those things have always been fast as hell (in a straight line) but there is just something soul-less about any EV. Apparently driving "something from the future" equates to driving a fancy and VERY fast golf cart. No thanks, I'll take a significantly slower but significantly BETTER car like an M5...

    How much does it cost to charge up from empty? How long did it take? This is definitely the future which is a shame for petrol heads.

      Sceptic Frog it is free at Tesla charging points and it's about 30mins to get to 80% I think and the last 20% takes atleast the same again

      Sceptic Frog - Depends on your electricity cost at home and the cost of gas, but generally about half the cost of gas per mile (not including maintenance savings, etc)

      In the UK the Model S and X come with a free yearly charging credit on the supercharger network, but anything above that is charged at 20p per kWh. The P100D has a 100 kWh battery, so you're looking at about £20 to charge from flat to full!

      Roughly $10 for 300 miles. Which is non comparable to the most efficient gas car.

    Always find it slightly ironic how film makers seem to think throwing in a few 1980s fax machine noises is somehow futuristic...

      We were going for a retro 80s faux-futuristic theme, hence the 80s inspired music. Hope you enjoyed the video regardless! ;)

      Thanks, but like I said, your video and info is two year too late. There are a thousand videos about this car that offer significantly more and higher quality information. You need to focus on videos that are fresh and provide QUALITY information. Nothing in your video was unique. I'm not hating, just giving feedback.

      Thanks for the feedback, just to clarify, what would you define as higher quality information? Are you looking for stats and figures in a video or personal opinion?
      Also you might enjoy our recent Vulcan video which was the first feature ever done on the road-going Aston Martin Vulcan. We get into the technical work done on the car with the project's lead engineer.

      S P100D accelerates beyond 1G. Prius Falling of a CLIFF would need Boosters / Rockets to help go quicker than a P100D.

    it might be fast, but it's build quality , fit & finish is still that of a fiat 500 or a hasbro/mattel kids toy. I can't wait for Benz and Porsche to make Tesla look like a joke...... AT THE SAME PRICE POINTS

      I don't think it's toy car at all. Felt solid. Felt like quality... But bring on the competition. Only can be good news for us all.

      Own it for awhile, you'll see when door panels are falling off, batteries, motors, power control units are going bad. Do a simple youtube search, brand new tesla vehicle with build quality issue all over the world. I have 3 reps that 2 traded them in for other vehicles because of all the issues and problems. 1 is a tree hugger and thinks it's the best thing since sliced bread... until she had a Enterprise VW jetta for 9 weeks waiting for a new power control unit and ECU to be replaced after leaving her on the side of the highway for over an hour. The other 2 had build issues, battery pack replaced, and the 1 with the X, all the doors locked and wouldn't open , Took the service center 5 weeks to fix it , he drove it off the parking lot 100 years, over to the Jaguar/land rover dealer and traded it in.
