@@rustbeltrobclassic2512 Wow - you’ve had some very different experiences here. I just moved back to OH after MANY years, and haven’t ever experienced any of that now or when I would visit anywhere in the state for business or visiting friends and family. I’ve lived and traveled all over the US, and have visited many foreign countries, and have found Ohioans to be among the nicest and most helpful people anywhere.
In most ways, Ohioans are like everyone else. Be nice, they’re nice. Be patient and kind, same. Be a jerk - who needs that? I’m sure you’ll fit in just fine - hope to welcome you here soon!
Hi, thank you for the information it is very helpful. I'm considering moving to Ohio from Miami, but I lived in Georgia for 11 years and love all the 4 seasons especially the fall weather. Looking forward to visiting Ohio.
One thing I'm curious about is how much the snow or especially the ice sticks around during Winter or if there are mild thaws during the season. I used to live in northern Wisconsin and got sick of the conditions up there. I had family living near Mobile, AL that offered a temp place to stay while looking for my own place. The gulf shore humidity and hot southern sun is just ridiculous to me though, so considering Cincinnati might be a climate compromise.
I’ve always liked Ohio I’m a upper Midwesterner in Minneapolis and I like Cinci because of it’s warmer climate and more balanced political climate I’ve been to Cincinnati once but it’s seems much nicer than Cleveland how would you say the winters are
I’m a native Cincinnatian, and I’ve spend a winter in Boyne, Michigan. If your used to winters like the ones y’all get up there then you’ll think our winters are a piece of cake. It gets cold (highs typically ranging from the 20s - 40s) mid-December through mid-March, and we get around 10 inches of snow as an average each year. Honestly our winters are pretty mild, you’ll be fine especially coming from Minneapolis.
I say Toledo is the best. I have been in Ohio all my life. In Toledo the last 8 yrs. The surrounding towns of Toledo are really nice. Well everything outside of the east side.
Thank you for all your info about Ohio... I really appreciate your videos for they gave me some great ideas. When the time comes to buy a house, I will surely look you up
I have lived all over Ohio in my 67 years. But where I live now and have for 10 years is called Wooster in Wayne county is the best. Its has about 35 thousand people and growing like crazy. Its getting really difficult to find a home for sale as they usually sell by word of mouth. Same with renting. Prices are going up also, but still fairly affordable. Schools are highly rated, and modern. The downtown has gone through a revilization and has many good restaurants, and bars. Home of the largest Amish settlement in the USA is just south of Wooster. Also the city is only about an hour away from Cleveland and one and a half hours away from Columbus. Great place, super friendly people. Nice job you did by the way, thanks.
Come on down. Plenty of new jobs around here as well. You will save tons of money moving here. Just be aware, that most of the people here are conservatives which is alright by me.
I lived in and around Akron and just outside of Cleveland for many years and While I was looking for a retirement home Wooster came up and I agree Wooster is a really nice place. I will admit I did leave Ohio but I really miss it.
Thanks for this informative video. One thing you didn’t mention was how much is the minimum wage in OH?? I’d appreciate an answer from anyone. I am a young retiree who lives in San Diego, CA and have been looking at other cities to relocate. I know people in Parma and really like that beautiful area. Will not live within the Cleveland city limits though. Also it would be nice if there was an Amazon warehouse nearby as I can always work there. Thanks.
I'm originally from Ohio (Cleveland area) and I would advise NOT living anywhere in Cuyahoga County as well. Controlled by corrupt (D) politicians and shady, mob-related wiseguys. Plus the local newspapers are all left-wing propaganda rags. There are many areas to the southwest of Cleveland that are low-crime and low-cost when it comes to housing. Just make sure that you're really ready for a drastic change in climate from sunny San Diego. Cheers.
Yeah!!!! I am so encouraged to know that Bible believing Christians are moving in. I was getting worried when I saw all the comments about Californians moving in because most of them are liberal and pagan. I am concerned that all their sinful, godless values will ruin Ohio. I have already noticed some stereotypical California type people showing up here. They are arrogant, vapid, pretentious, prideful, and selfish. I know as a born again Christian you are not like that though. I hope you find a great group to fellowship with!!
There are several countries that have e check. Cuyahoga County and Summit County definitely have required e-check for vehicles. Not sure if Franklin, Hamilton, Lucas or Montgomery counties have it. I'm in stark County, so I don't usually hear that much about other parts of the state.
I loved the semi rural small towns and greenery and scenery of Ashtabula County. As long as you live outside that County seat city, it's a fantastic place almost always underrated because it's not "wealthy or exciting"
Hey there! Thanks for the video! I’m considering moving to Ohio next year, Dayton and Springfield have been on my radar. I hear mixed things about those places unfortunately. Where would you suggest not to look in Dayton and Springfield? Thank you! ☺️
One thing you need to know about Ohio and it's really important. It's like this everywhere and it's worse down in south if ohio but always count on back roads or non-main roads being covered in snow. Past couple years we don't really start getting snow until end of November and it ends in like march. When it does snow it's bad normally and as I said above if it's not a main road or in town/a city it's probably not going to be plowed
I have land in southern Ohio that I don't so much want to sell, but rather trade for land in northern Ohio in an effort to relocate. South Webster to Lorain.
What is Ohio like if you are living on disability, over 55 years of age but not 60, and need to find HUD housing.? I am not looking for section 8. Right now I am living in New York in our nightmare apartment building upstate. I have been doing a lot of research and found that the cost of living is much lower in Ohio. I love Washington but I don’t quite think it would work for my budget. Right now I pay 30% of my income and get an allowance for utilities so a 500 square-foot one bedroom one bath apartment is $240 a month. Also I am finding that her apartments are usually located in some of the worst areas in each state. But I also know that some people have small rentals that accept HUD. It is not hard for them to become HUD landlords. HUD pays them directly each month and I pay the 30% remainder. The only thing is that the landlord would need to be responsible obviously for repairs and any landscaping. I am very quiet and live with my one cat and one rabbit. My husband recently committed suicide so that is another reason I would like to get a new start. Safety is another concern. As a realtor do you ever work with people who are willing to rent what are considered tiny houses or small apartments, converted garage, or anything in that category? If you read this post please hit me back I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you very much and I love your video!
I also live in upstate NY and am thinking about moving to Ohio. I have very similar questions to yours. I have a location in mind as I have friends there and I wouldn't be in the middle of nowhere not knowing anyone.
We bought a 4 bed 3 bath gorgeous old house, with all of the original woodwork, in a semi rural part of Ohio, for $37k. We're retired, in most of the rest of the country we'd have to live in an apartment. Ohio has been really good to us.
Great video! Clear and useful information! We're planning to move to Toledo next May from California, so a little scared with what it seem a big change, but excited too. Thanks for sharing!
Please don't come to my city if you are pro lgbtq+, transgenderism, systemic racism, abortion, communistic equality, etc. That is what ruined California. It's sin and God is punishing California for it's sin. Everywhere Californians go, they ruin the city/state. People vote according to their values and beliefs and Californians carry those same values and beliefs wherever they go and will vote accordingly to ruin their new state. I know there are conservative Californians and they are welcome. Ohio is a conservative state. It's a great state to live in because it's built on Judeo Christian values. Our kindness is based on Biblical principles, unlike pagan California. If you are liberal, why not find a liberal state or city to live in????
We don't have four beautiful seasons. We have long winters & summers, & spring & fall mixes the hell out of them for a few weeks each. The heat is horrid mid summer, & mid winter is dreary, cold, miserable, & ugly. It's not cheap here. A huge chunk of people can barely afford to live here. Unless you're thinking a lot of people like living in ghettos. They don't. Employment opportunities aren't good. You either get the crappiest of jobs that don't pay well, or, you're forced to take on classes in order to get a 4 to 6 year kind of degree in something that'll allow you to have something.
Minimum wage is $9.30. Health insurance premiums will vary based on your employer. The last 2 jobs for me, for family coverage, was around $800-900 (per month) out of my paycheck, that is with a $10K family deductible and 20% co-insurance with an out of pocket of over $20K (family). If you want better coverage it will be more than that. If you need single coverage it will be less. Problem I have seen many run into is some employers (that don't want to have to pay for benefits for their employees) will only work you just enough hours to be considered part time. Also consider that politics in Ohio are very divided right now and the new concealed carry gun law just went into place this week.
I was born in Ohio and lived near Cleveland and later near family in Portsmouth. When I was 24 years old I fled the state and made a great life in Alabama. I worked there until retirement in which I moved to Florida but I am only 3 miles from the Alabama state line. The northern half of Ohio is one of the coldest states anywhere, winter is long and there are no mountains to ski on... Property taxes are among the highest in the US and even city taxes on property. The Ohio River Valley is pretty but all those counties are the poorest in the state. I'm sort of glad people want to move to Ohio because we don't want to see our way of life change in the deep south and not like Ohio.
I no longer live in Ohio I'm from there now living near Waikiki Hawaii I hate to say is far better than Ohio there's no snow and ice and cold weather to worry about

And Ohio State of course better then cinci…. I mean you are missing out with college sports I believe Indy held championship final 4 very recently and it’s closer to see blue jackets from Cinci then it is to go to Philadelphia from North Jersey(where I am) since I like to see Phillies or Flyers which is 1 hour 40 something minutes away…. Great channel btw, was looking up west coast states for to long and got fed up with prices and politics… after looking up Michigan because of a friend I decided to look at Midwest for cost and I think Cincinnati and Lexington are only 2 areas I really enjoy :) but Cinci is easily best and I’m even calling it a “better version of Pittsburgh” I will look into apartments and jobs for sure, much love from the northeast!

Thanks for sharing. I know how frustrating that is! Getting an offer accepted in this market is both a science and an art. Each listing is different. It may mean more money. It may mean better terms. About the third question, I wish to move there from here in Japan.....My choice of city will be either Canton or North Canton, but depends if any company can sponsor me a permanent job visa... For now, I am preparing my expenses so that I will be prepared when that time comes.

There is a ton to do in Ohio. Just depends what part of Ohio you move to. If you move to places like Middletown Ohio … well nothing there at all unless you don’t mind driving to Columbus for civilization. Now you have to love snow and ice storms If you move to Ohio. You have to not mind never seeing the sun. Ever. It’s always cloudy , rainy or snowing. Summer is mild. The summers are decent in Ohio but you might get two months of some sunny days but I would say 10 months of the year is Cloudy. However , housing is affordable , tons of hiking , sports , museums etc. tons to do. I’m ready to move away though. I need sun. I’m getting depressed on this cloudy depressing weather. Columbus is way too congested. If you hate traffic and people do not move to Columbus
I've watched a lot of your videos, thanks. Coming back to this one, you failed to mention the extremely high property taxes. I had thought that I could sell my house here and buy a house outright in Cincy. However, I would still be left with a sizable monthly cost from taxes and insurance. Taxes seemed high here because of how much the valuation has changed in the past ~8 years, but Denver has really low property taxes (appx as much below the national average as Cincy is over).
Barring a few of the more “high-end” Cleveland suburbs, I found property taxes here much lower than in Northern Virginia, where I lived until this year. Of course, that houses are FAR less expensive here comparably, helps, too!
Just moved to Ohio from California and so far, we are loving it! 💕 (Yes, we did have to offer over asking and waived all inspections/contingencies - SCARY! - but ended up with the winning offer and bought our DREAM HOUSE: a 4800sqft Victorian Mansion 1 mile from Lake Erie!)
I appreciate your presentation of Cincinnati, but in the part about People, why are they all Caucasian while the city is 45% African-American (not to mention other ethnic groups)? I hope that this is a profound omission rather than a deliberate commission.

Marysville is a nice small town right outside of Columbus. Honda Plant is located there. There isn’t much to do there but it is close to Dublin, Oh, a suburb of Columbus, and Columbus which has lots to offer.
How about Springfield Ohio? Springfield is 30miles from Dayton, 35 miles from Columbus, right between the two. The cost of living is low and a lot lower than Columbus. Not a lot of jobs in Springfield but you are close to Dayton and Columbus. I moved away a few years ago but moved back recently in order to buy an affordable home.

They don't understand sarcasm, and are too stupid to follow any real dialogue.. it's a beautiful state, if you can work in a field with limited people interaction, or remote from another state, and just want a beautiful place to live, it's great.. but, it's lonely as the people here don't warm up fast to outsiders, and things as normal as being in a store and commenting on a product to start a conversation is almost always followed by rude people..
Run
leave your wokeness and leftism in california. We have zero tolerance here. We fed up
@@rustbeltrobclassic2512 Wow - you’ve had some very different experiences here.

Okay is good talking to you keep sharing and thank you for sharing ❤❤❤
One thing I'm curious about is how much the snow or especially the ice sticks around during Winter or if there are mild thaws during the season. I used to live in northern Wisconsin and got sick of the conditions up there. I had family living near Mobile, AL that offered a temp place to stay while looking for my own place. The gulf shore humidity and hot southern sun is just ridiculous to me though, so considering Cincinnati might be a climate compromise.
We get a handful of 1-2 inch snows every year that usually melt off within a week. And then probably 1-3 snows that stick longer than a week.
I think the interesting thing about ohio and there is nothern and southern.. and it's a big difference..
It hardly snows anymore even in the Cleveland area
And there are a lot of yetis in the area 💀 #OnlyInOhio

Right now I'm watching a lot of videos where should I move out of state like Lord farquaad deciding 1 out of the 3 princess 🤔😯🤔😲🤔
Oh, hi. O!

Thanks!
I want to move there ... (from NY)
Here in California and started to research on moving there because I can’t afford a house here in California.
Thanks.
$9.30 in 2022
Amazon warehouse in South Euclid and North Royalton I believe.
Cheers.
Northern KY is the 'Cincinnati region' for the Amazon warehouse distribution center.
Ohio is a great state. I live in Licking County. It's beautiful.
I moved to Toledo from San Antonio after divorce..I AM SOO BLESSED BY GOD HERE ❤😊
How was your move?
Are there smog checks for vehicles?
There used to be but, I think, all counties have eliminated the tax/scam.
No
In very few counties yes but they are on their way out
There are several countries that have e check.
Imagine trying to glorify a drg infested county like that 💀
@josephhoover4542 imagine that you still believe anywhere is perfect and drug free

Just know if your moving to Ohio don't bring the politics with you. Ohio is a conservative state and doesn't want to change to the liberal crap holes.
Fellow Toledoan here! You’re gonna love it! Lots to do and many great people to meet. Safe travels👍👍

How much minimum wage pay?and how much health care have to pay a year? Sounds like you said only good side but how about bad side.
What is the ‘way of life’?

Hey Eric, sportwise mention to people who love College basketball that Xavier is in Cincinnati and you can take trips to Lexington, Louisville, Indy, and Columbus….. also Columbus has a pro hockey team in the NHL.

Communication with the Listing agent is VERY important. Give us a call or email if you want to discuss further.

However , housing is affordable , tons of hiking , sports , museums etc. tons to do. I’m ready to move away though. I need sun. I’m getting depressed on this cloudy depressing weather. Columbus is way too congested. If you hate traffic and people do not move to Columbus
oops, my bad
I've watched a lot of your videos, thanks. Coming back to this one, you failed to mention the extremely high property taxes. I had thought that I could sell my house here and buy a house outright in Cincy. However, I would still be left with a sizable monthly cost from taxes and insurance. Taxes seemed high here because of how much the valuation has changed in the past ~8 years, but Denver has really low property taxes (appx as much below the national average as Cincy is over).
Have you looked into Northern Kentucky? You may often find lower property taxes.
Barring a few of the more “high-end” Cleveland suburbs, I found property taxes here much lower than in Northern Virginia, where I lived until this year. Of course, that houses are FAR less expensive here comparably, helps, too!
