      I think it has more to do with his Red series, Mind Field. UA-cam probably has a contract on the main channel so he's not allowed to post regular content there, so instead he posts here.

      Razer1103 there’s no way that’s true. UA-cam wouldn’t stifle creators like that, especially if they have a UA-cam Red series. I think it’s because this is more of a mini video; he doesn’t go off on many tangents. Instead, he completely focused on the Mysterium Cosmographicum

      Kepler was a great scientist (since physicist was not a term then) and it's obvious that he was incredibly genius, so he had to be very close( just like scientist today are to the quantum physics)

    • @thegoodlydragon7452
      @thegoodlydragon7452 3 роки тому +31

      The legacy of Greek philosophy was a mixed bag. The concept of logic, applied math, and scrutiny definitely aided progress, but at the same time these obsessions with all of these particular notions like Plato's forms, Plato's solids, Aristotle's notions of physics being based on these quasi-mystical ideas of cosmic place etc. were definitely impediments when they were clung to dogmatically. I think there's a lesson in that for our own modern times. Abstracting might be the essence of good science, but ONLY when the model actually fits the data, and NOT just because it seems pretty and orderly. Kepler was in that intellectual milieu and so of course he was influenced by its prejudices towards favoring all things classical, passed down as received wisdom from the great masters.

    For all the people saying that there are 48 regular polyhedra, that is very true, but michael was talking about bounded convex shapes (not explicitly stated in the definition of a Platonic solid by Plato but platonic solids are classed as refular regular polyhedra that fall under this category), so no stellated dodecahedrons or euclidean tilings.

      Someday I hope to get a VSauce video covering more than just the platonic solids and going into Dark Geometry.
      Please. I wanna see Michael marvel over the great stellated dodecahedron or the mutetrahedron or the infinite tilings.

      Seeing this comment reminded me of a video called,”there are 48 regular polyhedra.” It might not be as entertaining as vsauce, but nonetheless an interesting video. And yes, the video did mentioned the regular ster polyhedra.

      Kenway Hunter He's talked a lot about trying comedy and appreciating meme "culture". I think "bait" seems more devious than what Michael's doing, but he is aware of his quirky humor.

    6:48 Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them, but when the world needed him most, he vanished. A hundred years passed and my brother and I discovered the new Avatar, an airbender named Aang. And although his airbending skills are great, he has a lot to learn before he's ready to save anyone. But I believe Aang can save the world.

    Wait, i thought that by the time Kepler was was inspirational, Copernicus' sun-center theory was already picking up steam.

    • @DrScrubbington
      @DrScrubbington 4 роки тому

      Not exactly. Copernicus had theorized it, but it wasn't until about a hundred years later that people began accepting it scientifically. In fact, the ancient Greek astronomer Aristarchus was the first to theorize it in the 3rd century BC, and Copernicus actually attributed his theory to him. But it went silent for 18 centuries before Copernicus finally revived the theory.
