  • Inexpensive and absolutely delicious, filling, easy on the wallet and great for when it is HOT out.
    The Cry Baby Sandwich is super easy to make and a very simple recipe that doesn't require heat or cooking on a stove! Great for summertime picnics, cookouts, Meal prep, cold lunch or dinner. It is super filling and healthier than most! Way better than any retailer or animal based sandwich because it causes no harm, Just screaming with flavor. The Cry Baby Sandwich, is high in protein for all those that are concerned and policing every recipe looking for excuses. :)

    BIG EATS - Several Meals
    1 block EXTRA FIRM TOFU, 350g, shaved
    1 sub roll / sandwich bread or large wrap
    1 tablespoon Capers
    4 - 5 long dill pickle slices, diced
    4 -5 green onion, sliced
    Garlic and Herb NUTRITIONAL BEAST: • Nutritional seasoning ...
    3 slices, vegan cheese
    1 jalapeno, diced
    1 tomato, sliced
    Handful of rocket
    Handful Savoy cabbage, shaved
    2 tablespoons Vegan Mayo
    1 tablespoon, Dijon
    Flake salt & Pepper
    Olive oil drizzle (optional)
    Greens:
    200g kale, chopped
    100g baby spinach
    100g savoy cabbage, shaved
    1 -2 tablespoons Sesame oil
    Splash of soy sauce (dark or light)
    Flake Salt & Pepper
    Rinse, pick out stems, boil water and add boiling water to greens in a big bowl. Strain, rinse with cold water, squeeze out excess water. Add sesame, salt and pepper and chill before serving.

    I'm glad I'm not the only one eating a good sandwich with a towel in a corner outside or over the kitchen sink without judgement. Lots of those sammies are your recipes, and riffs of them. I love this channel 💚

    I have four adult kids. The oldest accused me of spoiling the dogs...(I have 4 and 6 granddogs) I told her she is absolutely right! I then asked her if they are the only ones in my life that I spoil. She was quiet after that!😂

    As a Texan, I appreciate no-cook meals this time of year. And...I love that you just let the tofu stand more on it's own with just a sauce.
    I love cooked tofu, but my wife and I are also fans of cutting extra firm tofu and using it like this. (I see this sandwich in our not-too-distant future...) Thanks for the video! 😀

    I made your Fast Food sandwich and I'm not joking when I say it was one of the best sammiches I've ever had. You seriously have me considering going vegan. The fact I'm considering that is amazing... but so is this channel and so is your book!

    Thanks for the frequent reminders about cleaning the board/kitchen as you go. It's getting in my head and helping me up my game! Especially 'cuz you do it do kindly.     Originally from PA and we called them Hoagies and currently in NJ and we call them Hoagies or if you go Northern NJ some call them Subs..

    Love the "simple" recipes. To the rabble like myself these recipes showcase a lot of great techniques and ingredients for adding flavor that I otherwise wouldn't know about so they are much appreciated. Simplicity is when life is at its best. Hope you and Franky are enjoying the good weather!

    I used to have a black lab/setter mix years and years ago. Now I live in a national forest in west Michigan and I have a cat, and yes, she is spoiled rotten! Love to see Frankie and how much you love her. Thanks for the wonderful recipe! I've been using tofu a lot and this is a perfect dish!!! Here in Michigan we call the Subs.

    Love all the doggy kisses and treats. Spoiling animals is living large! Grew up calling ‘em subs, or grinders but mom said heroes. Somewhere in my distant past I thought that tofu is hard to digest raw but I guess not. Thanks for a delicious, nutritious, quick summer sammy!

    I like in the American Midwest. Im not vegan at all, I hunt for about eighty percent of the meat I consume. I LOVE this guys channel. The food looks great, the cooking technique and the recipes are amazing. Also the realism with how you engage with your beliefs and your philosophy. Fantastic. Much respect here from America.

    I Live in Arkansas now, but I grew up in Berkeley, CA. We called them Sub Sandwiches when I was growing up. In fact, we had a sub shop called Quizno's and one called Subway. Both sold subs

    Love how you treat Frankie. As it gets hotter, the best way to spoil her for the summer is any form of air conditioning. I know that's harder in the UK, but anything portable would make a huge difference in the quality of her daily life as the heat gets worse and more severe. Keeping her cool will also spare her heart and help her live a longer life. 💗

    I live in Australia and 26 deg is a perfect temperature for me! We go up to the low 40s sometimes in summer , so I guess it is all relative to the climate you live in :). Thanks for sharing this recipe! PS. we call them filled rolls here

    In the Southeastern US we call the sandwich a sub. We're having a heat wave here. It's been in the 90s-100 for over a week, no rain for a month. These stove-free meals look awesome to me!! And BTW I just love your relationship with Frankie!

    While I love trying all your recipes , I greatly appreciate some simple and quick ones so much. I prep my breakfasts, lunches, and dinners for the week every weekend, along with making my own dog food once a month. I’m in the kitchen all weekend.     Here in NZ we call them filled rolls, the rolls are usually about 15cm long, although in cafes they can be like yours. Love Frankie, she reminds me of our family dog when I was growing up - Cas. Love your recipes, am new to plant based and I am so in love with your mushroom recipes! I think I will go out and buy some rolls and try the Cry Baby!

    That Dieffenbachia could do with more (indirect) sunlight and humidity. You can grow it outdoors in summer, just keep out of reach of Frankie because it's toxic to dogs.

    Great hot weather food! We are here to spoil our furry friends, f9r sure! Molly, my black lab, is an "intake valve," too. We have treat discussions, which she does not like, and usually ends up pouting. Open a cheese wrapper, and she has suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Her absolute favorite is when I'm popping the ends off fresh asparagus. She will come running and slide into the cabinet like she is stealing home. She will drool until she gets some of the ends. But i have to be careful because too much fiber can be hard on digestion for her. Since we got her 7 years ago, she has been my garden thief. Green beans, zucchini, tomatoes, spinach, blackberries, raspberries, you name it, it's hers. She figured out how to dig carrots, too. She is a goober, but she is my goober, and i wouldn't trade her for the world.

    Hi Derek, I’m originally from Switzerland but I now live in the USA. We call that bread baguette. I so enjoy your videos. The meals are so lovingly prepared and your interaction with your dog is so genuine (she is beautiful). Wish we could meet since I don’t have any friends that are as passionate about food as I am.     We call them "bocadillos" XD sandwiches are only those made with sliced bread (the packaged stuff). Baguette style bread is referred to as "real" bread.

    All labs are like that! I grew up with a chocolate lab, and my dad always said it was like taking a hoover for a walk. Thank you, no-cook recipes are super appreciated as we get into summertime!

    Near Toronto we say sub or submarine. Great video! I needed a few summertime ideas. Your greens prepared that way with the hot water will really help me with getting in the green 💚

    Your channel is one of my guiding lights right now, thank you! I have a similar appetite for jalapeños probably from years in Texas and Southern California. We called them subs where I grew up, North Shore of Massachusetts. I’m back here temporarily and plant based version inspiration are greatly appreciated, I never thought to just shave really firm tofu.

    I spoil my animals too! I have 2 adorable Havanese who love tofu. I just had to tell you it is lunchtime and I went right in and used the 1/2 block of extra firm I had left and made that tofu salad. I used jared pepperacini instead of the pepper you use but just 1 Tbs vegan mayo, some mustard & a sliced up pickle spear and OMGoodness - it was DELICIOUS!!! The nooch and mustard made all the difference and kicked up the flavor. I actually couldn't believe it. I put it over my salad that has red cabbage, arugula, lettuce, cucumber & carrot - and am ready to dig in now. I have to say I love your videos and the food is totally mouthwatering. I try not to use as much oil, as I am trying to lose weight but you are a wonderful chef, a great inspiration, and I so appreciate the help in being Vegan. Blessings to you. Oh, and I'm from NY where they call the sandwiches a hero, but I live in CT where they are called grinders...
