They have not only built a breathtakingly beautiful home, but the way in which they describe the evolution of their relationship shows how they simultaneously built a stronger and natural life together. What a beautiful story ❤️
Very true. I spoke with a married couple who have worked/lived in a Fire Tower Lookout for the past 3 decades and there is also a correlation between the lookout tower and the evolution of their life together.
Wth I need more of these two, ASAP! Y'all appeal to me in so many ways. Living in nature, living with someone you love and respect, getting away from consumer culture, etc. Awesome vid
It warms my heart to see that almost NO ONE has anything to say about them being a couple. It's a rare thing to see these days. Bravo to this perfect couple.
Lol because of fire watch I'm actually really interested in this stuff now. I'm trying to convince my dad to rent one of these so we could head out one summer. Ps they still have lookout jobs.
This is my dream come to life. The fire watch tower the view with the mountains plains and the river and most importantly standing off that balcony with someone special looking out at the sunset together
Wow i envy you all that space. My partner and i have 4acres, we grow and raise our own food. But both of us prefer nature to city life and the city keeps getting closer. Your story is great, thank you for sharing
It's hard to say, a heavy I-Beam can endure a lot of heat before deformation and it would take a very long and continuous fire to do so which doesn't happen in Forest fires because they are continuously moving.
I wonder if they ever have issues with lightning, or wind. Those are my biggest concerns but those slide-rule engineers have all that figured out I'm sure.
That is AWESOME guys! That's all you need right there. Garden even! LOVE the outhouse. AND outdoor shower which I got used to down the Cape. Has to be VERY cold outside to get me to use the indoor shower! After working with so many people all day and all the hectic ways of daily life, that sure looks good to me.
I’m in Thailand and there’s a small patch of land I can build on…your idea looks great…because we have mountains all around us. Thanks for your video..I’ll show it to my brother in law
I would LOVE to live in this home, View is where it's at for me. To wake up every morning to that expanse would be a thrill I'd never get tired of. . Now, walking up those steps in the dead of winter, hmmm, maybe, but worth it once I was there.
"we give each other the right to be different"... we could all benefit from that idea. Bravo Zillow for telling a different story. BTW.. that pie crust looks awesome. Mmmm Mmmmm!
0:25 I just arrived there. I need to talk to these guys, I am lost. There isn't a single thing I could buy that would put a smile on my face at this point.
This is awesome! What beautiful scenery! I think I would have to have a dumb wader to haul stuff up, and a spiral slide to go down though :) My hubby and I would love something like that, however the 5 kids might disagree after a bit ;)
Ah, I am truly delighted to have watched this. I wish my life partner of twenty-six years had lived long enough for us to have enjoyed something similar to this. Unfortunately hepatic cancer took him from me far too soon at only fifty-two.
+shay daversa - Thank you. It's been a pretty lonely sixteen years since his passing, and there hasn't been a day gone by when I haven't thought of him.
+Russell Leaming And that's the how and why of his living on. Keep those memories and stay strong. As e.e. cummings says, "Let a joy kill you. Keep away from the little deaths".

Awesome video guys. I am envious of your views. Don't suppose you would like to publish the plans... I will build something like this eventually. Would like to be able to see what I am getting into sooner rather than later.
I couldn't hack living with another person like that. There's nowhere to go to be alone unless you want to wander around the mountain. I adored my late wife, but we would drive each other crazy in that place. It's not that it's such a small space, but that everything is in one room. You're always on top of each other (no, not literally :0).

There are a lot of job posts for fire watch at the government web site RIGHT now (Feb 2017).
Just beautiful, and you appreciate it which is lovely
This is my dream come to life. The fire watch tower the view with the mountains plains and the river and most importantly standing off that balcony with someone special looking out at the sunset together
FREAKING GORGEOUS. Being on a fire look out I'd be inclined to build it from steel.
That was one crisp clink. You earned yourself a like with that right there.
Wow i envy you all that space. My partner and i have 4acres, we grow and raise our own food. But both of us prefer nature to city life and the city keeps getting closer. Your story is great, thank you for sharing
Love that panoramic view. It just makes the place pop.
damn those pine forests are beautiful
That is really nice but I'd feel better if the supporting frame work was made of steel vs. wood!
Ohhh... yeah. It's a FIRE lookout, lol.
Yes. Easy to sabotage.
If there would be fire, steel frame would deform faster making it less safe actually. On a flip side, the fire will climb up if wood frame is used....
It's hard to say, a heavy I-Beam can endure a lot of heat before deformation and it would take a very long and continuous fire to do so which doesn't happen in Forest fires because they are continuously moving.

You could make a dumb waiter with a garage door opener but would need the electricity for it.
Just a winch would do, if gearing is good you can lift stuff by hand no prob.
A corkscrew slide or a fireman's pole would be awesome!
they have a winch to move stuff vertically. it is visible at 1:1. It is mounted on the deck railing on the left side of the deck.
