I'm waiting for the st. anger one. Just so that people can realize that even though the songs arent that well written, most of the riffs are killer, and sound insane in drop c.
Unforgiven solo riff is probably my favorite black album riff. Often overlooked due to it being under one of Kirk's best solos, but that riff is straight beauty
@@MKDumas1981 it’s the verse Bass riff played on guitar, for the most part. The verse rhythm guitar part mirrors the vocal melody with an open A string drone underneath, mostly
I play some of thoes songs differently and I've been playing for over 20 years. Got to love the fact that theres always something new to learn and hear.
I know you're not doing the Load era but if you do ever decide to revisit this series, I'd love to see Death Magnetic/ Hardiwred riffs ranked and performed! Quality content as ever!
We have this album to thank for making Metallica as big as they are today. I also believe this album made more people open to heavier music in general.
I feel like don’t tread on me doesn’t get enough love it’s such a heavy song and so unique from what I’ve heard I’ve never heard a metal song incorporate patriotic sound like they did
That´s funny, cause i feel like those might be the only two Megadeth albums he would do... Not that the rest is not worth trying, Megadeth is fantastic.
For me the coolest riff from that record is the second riff from Of Wolf & Man, when the rhythm guitar starts on one side of the panning and then the other side enters (E, F, E, b and b flat)
I totally guessed No.1 would be Sad But True. Almost 2 weeks ago now I watched the full live stream you did for learning, playing, recording and mixing the whole track. So cool to watch you do all that, it's one of my favourite tracks from that album and I had it in my head for days after watching that video.
This metallica series are great thank you for the share and awsome playing and also like your little comments on the videos. I would love to see your other series. Have a nice day from Turkey.
Holier, god that failed, struggle, through the never, sad and wolf are all super satisfying to play to me. More so than songs from their other albums, blackened being an exception.
My no1 favourite Black Album riff is the Through The Never bridge riff, always have a lot of fun playing that part when i play thorugh the song. Closely followed by the Holier Than Thou and Of Wolf And Man main riffs
I've never noticed until now that the pre verse riff of The Struggle Within sounds pretty much note for note as the intro riff to Octoclops by Forced Entry.
Really love your playing, just felt the sound to crunchy, treblely, think you should have gone more bassy and heavy and whatever people mean when they say "scooped" don't even know if that's how it's spelled ( not my native tongue ), none the less, really fucking awesome dude, you're one of the trullest Metallica playing guitar-man on the plataform, i'm always finding mistakes on other people but you nail pretty much always, keep up the great work!
Stripping it down like this, you can see how much better the riffs are before they did this album. Like can you imagine James and Lars sitting there like “yup, that’s a good riff, how can we use it” while writing this album. And yet somehow it turned out this great.
This is super helpful for learning through the songs on an album, gives me a great place to start. Great video and totally agree you should do Megadeth
Aaaaaaaaand i'm done playing every riff you covered, way worse than you did I was totally going to bet on enter sadman for the #1 haha, nice play ! Keep going, best youtube channel for guitar learning
Thank u for a Great vid. Would love to see you do one for Def Leppard’s Hysteria. Especially since they r being inducted into the Rock n Roll hall of fame this year. Thanks again.
I was surprised the Nothing Else Matters verse riff wasn't included. I would have put that quite high up on the list, as I think it's a bit underrated in general.
I'm waiting for the st. anger one. Just so that people can realize that even though the songs arent that well written, most of the riffs are killer, and sound insane in drop c.
The guitar blend together and the drop tuning makes it sound extremely muddy.
Okay, Kirk. But can you play Some Kind of Monster?
Purify and My World, man. So underrated. Sweet Amber too. Fuck yeah man
@@Carbon2861996 no, the notes in between will fuck with him
@@hetfieldwannabe8176 Totally agree man! Even if the album was the trainwreck, the riffs were mostly awesome!

#1: SMOKE ON THE WATER
@@tarkus1056 Underrated comment
Hearing these riffs played on a single guitar really makes you appreciate the overdubs and the layering.
And the drums
Please do this for Megadeth
yes please
PLEASE YES
YESSSSS
Rust in Peace anyone?
@@benparsons4979 Peace sells first
Death Magnetic next? That album is so underrated and has so many kickass riffs.
Unforgiven solo riff is probably my favorite black album riff. Often overlooked due to it being under one of Kirk's best solos, but that riff is straight beauty
totally agree, unforgiven is just such a nice and heavy thematic song with nice drums, lyrics and guitars
Isn't the solo backing riff the same as the verse riff, though?
@@MKDumas1981 it’s the verse Bass riff played on guitar, for the most part. The verse rhythm guitar part mirrors the vocal melody with an open A string drone underneath, mostly

That break riff from the struggle within is so underrated
Yes finally the black album! Are you gonna do load and reload?
Edit: Nevermind I read the description
Do you really like those albums or its a joke?
sucks because they both have some killer riffs on them
I find that peculiar because certain songs, albums, or artists help me through the rough spots, so I remember them forever.
@@Mrsmacieks They do contain some good songs
@@Mrsmacieks come on load and reload are great. What is so bad about them?
We have this album to thank for making Metallica as big as they are today. I also believe this album made more people open to heavier music in general.
This entire album is just quintessential rock and metal, banger after banger with beautiful production, style and lyrical content. I completely agree
Prolly the greatest heavy metal gateway album ever made
I feel like don’t tread on me doesn’t get enough love it’s such a heavy song and so unique from what I’ve heard I’ve never heard a metal song incorporate patriotic sound like they did
imo i think that its the song metallica expected to be pooular cuz it sings about snakes and war and thats basically what the album cover is
Looking forward to the inevitable Peace Sells and Rust in Peace versions of these videos ;)
MEGADETHHHHH
That´s funny, cause i feel like those might be the only two Megadeth albums he would do... Not that the rest is not worth trying, Megadeth is fantastic.
@@antoniocenteno1483 Countdown to Extinction has some pretty good riffs, on par with the Black Album imo

Yes! This and Whenever I May Roam.
This video made me love even more The Black Album
It's so full of great/amazing riffs and moments!
I’m willing to bet you’re doing a Metallica tribute gig soon and this is your practice
You don’t need to practice Metallica riffs. They’re not megadeth riffs.
@@The_Buff_Guy Yeah Let's pretend that Justice and puppets didn't have insanely hard riffs aight.
Nothing else matters intro riff is one of my favorite riffs to play. It’s such a good mix of challenging and fun to play.

sad but true, definitely best song on the album. Main riff is bomb as shit.
The only good song on this album in my opinion
smacieks In my opinion, nothing else matters and the unforgiven are way better than Sad but true
One of my favorites along with holier than thou
I’ve really enjoyed all five of the videos, but I think this was the best. The variety of riffs makes this the most interesting for me.
Please consider doing death magnetic and hardwired, theres some absolutely kickass riffs in there
Dude....awesome Metallica videos...watched and enjoyed them all! Thanks you rock man!
Too bad there won't be any videos for the other albums.
Really sad how sometimes, for some people, music can be ruined by circumstance... :(

Sad but true...
This metallica series are great thank you for the share and awsome playing and also like your little comments on the videos. I would love to see your other series. Have a nice day from Turkey.
Thank you for uploading this!
My favorite one in the album is the verse riff in Sad But True. So groovy and powerful
Just wondering how many people here know West Side Story. ;-)
i want to live in ameri-ca!
#26 Is such an underrated one, it’s reminiscent of Walk by Pantera.
As a big Metallica fan it was awesome to see this mini-series, I'd love to see another one of these for some other bands
This is incredible.
I bet these songs are so fun to play and easy to learn.
Holier, god that failed, struggle, through the never, sad and wolf are all super satisfying to play to me. More so than songs from their other albums, blackened being an exception.
Sad But True main riff sounds like something Jerry Cantrell would write
Yes! I love the sad but true riff it's so heavy!
Like this series! Keep it going man
Great playing and great clean tone
Distorted tone ...
great idea on the series 👍🏻
I use the sad but true main riff as my walk up song in baseball
Im sad that this is the Last one. Cayse DM and Hardwired has amazing riffs :/
Sad but true...
The main riff to halo on fire is badass 🔥
My no1 favourite Black Album riff is the Through The Never bridge riff, always have a lot of fun playing that part when i play thorugh the song. Closely followed by the Holier Than Thou and Of Wolf And Man main riffs
Dude, the post solo riff in Struggle Within is the best riff in the world!
1:40 AND THE ROAD BECOMES MY BRIDE
I've never noticed until now that the pre verse riff of The Struggle Within sounds pretty much note for note as the intro riff to Octoclops by Forced Entry.
I loved the accidental harmonic just before the intended harmonic during Nothing Else Matters
Is it sad but true that this is my favourite album ever? Doing a rundown of riffs from it just made me realise why! 😁🤘 (my fave riff too btw)

dang really surprised the struggle within intro wasn’t higher. that’s my favorite part of the song
Zaacre The intro to struggle within is absolutely one of my favorite intro riffs, but the rest of the song is just so dissapointing to me
Bummed to read that you won't be doing load/reload. Those are Canon Metallica for me. sucks how music be like that sometimes, though.
You should keep doing this because I really want to see this for Hardwired to Self Destruct
4:19 got to learn that!
Great video riffs plz do a Mick Mars artist series
Damn, I really liked these and I really like Load. Oh well I hope things got better for you. Maybe you can do Black Sabbath sometime?
Great series! Hopefully you do this but with Pantera, Megadeth, and slayer as well!
You should do the solos ranked as well! ;)
The verse riff of the Unforgiven was missing- would have been in my top five !
Thank u for a Great vid. Would love to see you do one for Def Leppard’s Hysteria. Especially since they r being inducted into the Rock n Roll hall of fame this year. Thanks again.
Great arrangement of my friend of misery bass intro riff
Awesome! It’s sad to see that this will be the last one in the Metallica series, but do you plan on doing the same thing for other bands?
At least I could finally call the last two, even in order
I was surprised the Nothing Else Matters verse riff wasn't included. I would have put that quite high up on the list, as I think it's a bit underrated in general.
4:20 sounds like black metal
This Metallica content is awesome !!! 👏
Like always nice video
This is a great end
Pd:Death magnetic
pls can you do it with hardwired?
4:09 that riff is a goddamn nightmare for me to play, got any tips?
That 🍒Gibson SG is cleannnnnn
Really cool tone, what amp is that?
Can you do the same with solos or licks? That would be fun to see too.
The main riff from WIMR is #1 on this album for me
Great job. Thanks, btw, the second enter sandman chorus fill is a little different to what you're playing.
Those pickups sound awesome! May I ask what they are? What year is the SG?
The real question is how far you’ll take this series!
Until I lap Metallica and end up writing all the riffs for their new album before they get the chance. 😂 No this is the last one for them for now.
I love you for give this album and songs like Enter Sandman and Nothing Else Matters the place they deserve (not that i think Sandman should be No.1)
megadeth pls
Sad but true. A riff that’s so heavy you don’t even need drums or bass to break your neck head banging to it.
As much as I don't like West Side Story that DTOM riff is sick
Man, Metallica really slowed down after Justice! This album is still really good though. It’s just different.
Have you not listened to anything after justice???
Ruben Jó you gotta listen t death magnetic or hardwired. Both of those have some really fast riffs.
Time to bust out the wah for 30 metallica solos ranked!
What is that tailpiece on the sg I can't find any information about it
this is a cool series / idea. Not a fan of this album but who cares what I think. Keep up the great work!
Were you using pedals effects on your amp?
Two of the best riffs ranked at 29 and 30?! Wow. To each their own I guess 🤷♂️
Gotta do one of this series with Soundgarden, at leaste with their most famous albums (Love, Bmf, SU and DOTUS)
Just no
Your #22 is MY #1
Cool series!
Next do solos?
3:23 sounds like happy birthday to you
I don't hear it.
Is that a standard SG and what type of amp and effects u using
Wow, i perfectly guessed top 3 :D
Art of Guitar: "'Of Wolf and Man'? Isn't that an Ozzy Osbourne song?
Please to this with Suffocation riffs?
you should end off the series with death magnetic, tons of awesome underrated riffs in that album
also hardwired
I'll rather wait for ST. ANGER Riffs instead of Load/ReLoad.
*OH WAIT...* 😂😂
whos ready for tomorrow lol
Oh wait…

Do Load please
Do the solos next
#15: "America" from West Side Story.
just gotta ask, is the heart in he backround thas been in your last couple of vids a reffrence to KH3?
