Although I've gone through some pretty horrific physical and emotional trauma throughout my life, I've never once succumbed to alcohol or illicit drugs. However it may come as no surprise to learn that I've a well-established addiction to volcanically strong coffee. 😉 Thanks for sharing. 👍
Been drinking 6 to 7 beers a night for 10 years now. I am at the point all I do is work and come home to drink and do nothing else. I feel hopeless and empty most days. Thank you for this video. Day 1 here I go.
Glad to hear...but how did you prepare for sobriety? Would you personally spend more time to go to the beach than you have to get sober? Watch episode 103 "Preparing for sobriety" and get back to me: ua-cam.com/video/3QUxIW8X5bA/v-deo.html All of the emptiness, sadness, depression and ROOT CAUSES for feelings of inadequacy still remain. We have to BE HONEST with ourselves, cut the bullshit, and cut out ALL toxic behaviors. What's the point of getting sober if you still hang with alcoholics, or go through the same motions or still hang at the same places. ACTIVITY REPLACEMENT THERAPY!
@@GettingSoberAgain Sorry I'm just now seeing this. Sad to say I slipped a lot since then..but calmed down completely where its not ruling my life. Its still a battle but I'm down to 2 or 3 beers every other night. For me I just got burned out on drinking and still am. So when I do have a beer or 2 after that I start to feel disgusted and little by little its disappearing from my life. Compared to a year ago and the years prior I feel I accomplished alot. Its not perfect but I still see it as a battle and won't let up. Building my relationship with God and staying active has helped alot. Reminding myself to stay focus on building a better me so I can be a better person for the my love ones.
Prayer is like giving a friend a job reference. What good is it if you don't show up for the job? God meet's us halfway. Are you willing to take the steps in the right direction?
I was a heavy wine drinker for the past 18+ years. For the past year or more, I was drinking 2+ bottles a night. This past February, on my 50th birthday, I stopped drinking. No alcohol for more than a month so far. My swollen belly and concerns about my liver made me stop.Thoughts of dying of cirrhosis were really starting to get to me at night. Anyway, my swollen belly is going down, and I feel a lot better. I do miss drinking, though, because being fully aware all the time is hard. But dying with a failing liver seems like a far worse fate (although a failing liver could still be in my near future, considering how much I abused it).
@@GettingSoberAgain Eight years sober saved me a LOT of money. My blood pressure and weight are back to normal. Now sober, I notice at a party how people start getting stupid and loud after just one drink. I can drive anywhere, anytime without worry. When I see a police car it does not concern me anymore. My wife and I get along much better. I feel great in the morning.
Stopped for three months. It felt amazing. Then I started to reintroduce alcohol slowly, here and there. A month later, I was back to binge drinking and missing out on life. This time it is for real. F*ck this poison. Be strong everybody.
That is exactly why I have decided to stop cold turkey. I have an extremely addictive personality and it's nearly impossible for me to have just 1 drink. I have made a list of 20+ reasons why I want to stop drinking and I can't find 1 good reason to continue drinking. My conclusion is to completely stop drinking forever. It's not going to be easy, but I am confident that my life will change for the better.
I’m a 51 year old man that’s been drinking for 35 years. I recently decided to quit for a bit. It’s only been 6 days yet I feel great and plan on continuing this new chapter in my life. My decision came after realizing that our government wants us all drunk, stoned and stupid and I’m not gonna let them (government)defeat me any longer!!!!!
Keep up the good work my friend! We have hundreds of sobriety videos since this one came out Here's the playlist to our most recent episodes! ua-cam.com/play/PLddHUddS-QQjIYyRNl-E3bkOiEWWIZtEt.html
I have just turned 70. Been drinking on and off since 15. Just completed 35 days on tribesober southafrica and i must tell you apart from coughing and phlegm, everyone of your points have been spot on for me. The thought of ever drinking wine again sickens me. My drinking started from early childhood traumas, but i have examined them and put them in their place. The biggest win for me has been UN-NUMBING. You rock. Keep at I am in this with you. Drinking alcohol is definetly going out of fashion like smoking. I of course used to do both. Smoked till 48. Hey i am feeling brand new. Never ever too late to stop.
Hi WIN 1558, I'm 66 and relate to early trauma/fear that has unfortunately governed much of my life. I grew up with two Jekyll and Hyde alcoholics, but am not one. My personality is easygoing, respectful, and loving of others. I think that is a partial curse to getting sober. Have tons of AA under my belt. I keep pushing and my thoughts and actions are geared to say enough...but that also means making a decision. All the best to you and your long-term sobriety.
I agree I been drinking since 15 just turned 69 couple bottles wine 6 or 8 beers everyday occasionally bourbon stopped just few days but phlegm cough on to of flu!! Geez good luck
I stopped for 30 days in Jan 2020. I felt so good, I then challenged myself to 100 days, and felt even better. So, here I am 1-1/2 years later, and I still haven’t had a drink. That small break made me realize what a waste of time, money, and health drinking is. I am healthier, richer, and I have a lot more time to be productive. Try it in small steps or challenges, and not only will you love yourself more, but everyone close to you will love you more. If you’re successful, you will realize how much better life is without the booze. It’s like being set free. I wish the best luck to all of you that want a temporary or permanent break from alcohol.
@@lettoturner5079 it's all in the mind. Will power and sheer determination to make the change. You CAN do it! Don't count the days, make the days count. Be aware of HALT. Hungry, angry, lonely and tired. Eat well, talk to friends, get sleep and avoid situations that will trigger anger, it's easy to go back to substances if we are angry and looking for that thing to change our mental state. Stay present, go through the pain because on the other side of the pain is pleasure. Get up early, fill your days with positive actions. Tire yourself out by the evening and drink camomile tea. Melatonin can help with the sleep. I sweated and couldn't sleep for a week. I drank 3x bottles of 700ml spirits every 2 days for a long time. If I can do it. So can you! Best of luck
@@lettoturner5079 I keep busy and watched a lot of UA-cam videos like this. One tool I used that really helped me though was an phone app, “I am Sober.” That put me in the same boat in the same week with everyone else, and the people doing the same thing supporting each other inspired me.
I did a 30-day “challenge” to myself as a New Years resolution -in 1985. I felt so good that after the 30 days I never went back. Best decision I ever made.

@Alhogg377 I have completed my 3 years recently...after 22 years of daily drinking half bottle...first year I applied Dr Tob makuriya Harm reduction approach..used CBD,CBG and Thc oil and than stopped oil ...2 years complete sober
One of the best things about not drinking is that I don’t do and say and text and post stupid stuff now. I don’t have to wake up horrified at what I did last night!!
Marriage is on the rocks because of my drinking. Just don't know when to stop once I start. I'm on day 2 of no drinking. And I found your video. Thanks for the positivity.
My marriage is also on the rocks because of my drinking behavior. My body, mind, and emotions now are all dependent on alcohol. I feel I don’t know who I am without it but I do deep down crave a different experience in life. Good luck
Ruined my marriage. She was the best thing that will ever happen to me. Not choosing to change will forever be the biggest mistake/regret in my life. Better late than never I suppose

After 40 years of heavy beer intake i finally stopped. Granted, I'm only on day 24 but I am committed to keeping alcohol out of my life. Thank you for this video. I am already feeling healthier.
Still abstaining. The tough part physically was over in a few days. After that, it has been breaking old habits. I got involved with A.A. and they've been a big help with working on myself. I'm at day 78 or so and still keeping the faith. Thanks for asking. Going in for my second endoscopy this Friday to check things out there.
Currently 32 days sober and I definitely have noticed a lot of these perks. Better sleep and clarity (no brain fog!) is probably the most noticeable. My husband just commented yesterday about how my eyes aren't as puffy and tired looking. The benefits are definitely worth the discomfort. Looking forward to feeling better and better the longer my sobriety lasts. 😊
18 days sober! I’m tired of not being the best version of myself. It has always been obvious that alcohol was an issue but I was too afraid to do something about it. One step at a time! Thanks for the video and the good vibes!
Good vibes is what it's all about! We all get cold feet when it comes to marrying the idea of putting in the work towards being our best future self! Anyone watching this video who is thinking about trying to quit… GO FOR IT. I did, and I can confirm every thing on his list and more is true. For me the most amazing observation after quitting was that my life went from being completely habit oriented to completely goal/achievement oriented. The productivity, energy, and positivity increase just gets me up and getting it done. SOBRIETY IS AMAZING.
Combine not drinking with a Healthy Keto, Ketovore, or Carnivore dietary lifestyle with Intermittent Fasting and it raises an alcohol free life to a whole new level, even helps reverse the negative effects of alcohol (fatty liver disease, etc). Great video!! Great testimonial!!
Loved Keto, but wine drinking ruined my weight loss! I kept eating keto, but drank alot of wine. Like 2 bottles a day!!! The sugar in the wine destroyed my 40 lb weight loss. I'm 57 started drinking last year. Progressively slowly got worse drinking more and more. I never drank until then. Am I an alcoholic? Even before drinking my coffee I have some wine! I crave it. Plus, I'm getting divorced after being with my husband since the age of 25. He's 13 years older than I. I come from a very bad childhood. Sexual abuse, abandonment, physical beatings, being locked in dark closets and my room since born. Starvation! You name it! It seems like I changed.in to a completely different person. I have anxiety too. Isolate myself. I know I need to stop drinking. I just drink wine. Nothing harder.
@@RubySlippers1100 Watch a video with a guy called Heŕren who played for Boston Celtics. He is very intelligent about why he drank and used drugs. Very honest. Inspirational. It will give you encouragement and hopefully inspire you to put yourself first. Good luck
I’ve been an alcoholic for 6 years. I drank a bottle of tequila every single day & went to the bar on top of that. I literally felt like I needed to drink morning until night just to feel normal. I’m surprised I’m still alive. Today is my first day without it. I’m going to try my best not to drink ever again. I wanna feel healthy again. I want to lose weight & start loving myself again. Thank you for this video, it was truly motivating 🖤
That's a lot of alcohol for a woman to consume in a day. Set yourself goals that are short then build off of them. 1 week sober. Then 2, then a month.. It's hard as hell but if you want it bad enough you can do it. Most important thing is have something to replace the time that you used for drinking. Have something that you like to do that's challenging.
I quit drinking in January and then relapsed on July 4. Yesterday was day 11 but today I decided to quit again. Thank you for this awesome video, I also enjoyed reading the comments because they give me renewed strength to start again. The longest I have gone without drinking, has been 10 months. Relapsing is like driving from LA to New York and you take that one exit knowing that it leads to nowhere but you keep take it anyway. I’ve gotten back on the freeway and hope to never take that exit again ❤
well said! We actually have a video on the topic of taking a sobriety detour! Check it out in this playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLddHUddS-QQjIYyRNl-E3bkOiEWWIZtEt.html
don't be so hard on yourself. if you didn't drink from January until July, and this, let's say, freelapse day in July was just that, a single freelapse day, you're still doing great. hell, if you had a single weekend freelapse per month you would still be doing great. keep going. see alcohol for what it is and, most importantly, for what it shouldn't be: a crutch. and if you happen to feel like having a few beers at a certain weekend withing months of sobriety, go ahead. go and come back. we are all going to die anyway, so choose to live the good life. your body is not a temple, is an amusement park. enjoy the ride.
You'll get this. There are likely many people who had more extreme cases and they pulled through. That means you definitely can. Like he said, a good hobby to replace your original behavior will make it much easier. Everybody has their talents, even if it's as simple as cooking and or doing craft shows or bake sales. We are all awesome, but the booze obfuscates who we really are. Find who you are while you still can.
Today is day 36 for me!! I was drinking half pint to a pint every night, and my mental clarity is so much better. God Bless you all and much love to all my brothers and sisters

Hang in there. I have my "25 benefits of quitting alcohol for 90 days coming out soon, episode 90.. make sure to subscribe and turn on notifications 🤗
I wasn't drinking everyday, but i was being a weekend warrior. Ive only been off the alcohol for 2 weeks and already experiencing all the positive things mentally and physically. My biggest problem wasn't hangovers, but depression the next day. Thank you for this awesome video brother.👍
I am doing fantastic this past year-and-a-half since I quit drinking. My life has basically gone in a positive direction ever since I put the drink down. I have a large amount of energy for work I have a positive attitude towards my job I take care of my lady and my little doggy with pleasure and he's ever since I'm not craving or just being a drunk idiot. My anxiety level dropped to a super low level which is very exciting because I have PTSD when I got stabbed nine times and 2007 and that's kind of the reason I started drinking so hard but it's to kill my anxiety. But ever since I quit I don't have anxiety like that anymore

You're forgetting the ambulance ride to the ER when you stop drinking. Been there done that. Almost died. Dr. said I was fortunate. Haven't drank since--not an experience I wish to repeat. And was able to kick everyone out of my life, finally. Sweet, wonderful peace...
Yes I do to this day I am still sober I honestly have lost track of the days😂 I have no interest in going back to my old ways... I've lost at least 30 lbs and finally found a new job. I'll be back in the work force in August. I have rough days from time to time. But have learned to reflect. Now I can see how much better I am as a person in every single aspect. 1.5 months "sober". Could only ever handle 3 drinks at any one time, but i think it's just as difficult to quit 2 habitual drinks a day, as it is to quit a heavier addiction.
I quit drinking in 2019 for 6-7 months, and ate clean and healthy. Lost all un needed fat; 250 > 200lbs and lean. Covid knocked me on my ass with depression and I drank and ate bad all year. Back to 250+ ugh! So, here we are again… starting over!
After 10 years of sobriety, I started drinking again. I can feel my health declining. My BP is through the roof. I literally spent my last $100.00 at a bar last night. I'm beginning to miss my sober years. That's why I am 'surfing' the internet - to remind me of the angst of drinking daily. I appreciate this man's enthusiasm and positive vibes. This is helping me form reasoning and the will to accomplish the power I need to overcome my addiction. Thank you for the good messaging. I can do this again

Matt, try switching the alcohol for cannabis and use that time to either watch comedy, something inspirational, do something creative or do some self-reflecting, particularly on negative experiences from your past. I gave the alcohol up because it did me little good, but I have a little bit of cannabis an hour before bed each night because it does me a kind of good that is unique. Yes, I highly recommend it, at least try it even if you fell 'it's not for you'.
5 years no drinking, I feel like a new man and my body looks amazing compared to when I drank everyday. I highly recommend quitting alcohol or at least drink occasionally
Now THATS a comment!!!! Congrats to you! Feel free to drop some knowledge in the comments. I'm sure there are many people that are curious about your success
How are you? If you have a positive update that you'd like to share with the community, please do! Did you ever experience the pink cloud/honeymoon phase?
I stopped drinking during the week and learned to enjoy small amounts of bourbon for the flavor and to share with friends. Manage it very well and look forward to the hydration and week days with no alcohol. I’ve dropped 30 pounds in 8 weeks too.
I must say this popped up on my feed and I felt I had to watch it as I’ve recently under gone a life changing transformation. After 22 years of chronic weed smoking and drinking I’ve decided it’s time for change. So I’m on week 5 of no weed and no booze. Im down 20lbs, my sleep is substantial better, I’ve started reading again, massive improvement to my speech and intelligence. Thank you for your time and this encouraging video!
Day 477 no alcohol at all.I sleep better,i am more of myself,a happy and positive human being as i am,alcohol made me a negative person for me and my closed ones. My wallet is fuller as i was spending too much on beers and spirits. For all the souls out there that are struggling with this poison i know its difficult at first but dont give up on yourselves. You deserve better than this
I was a 20 year functioning alcoholic. I gave up last October 19th 2020. I drank for four nights over Xmas, stopped for 3 days and then a 300cl bottle of Jack for New Years Eve... Not touched a drop in 21 and I don't even miss it. Fitter, healthier, more positive outlook, stronger, energetic, goals getting smashed, skin looks better. Best thing I have ever done for myself in my near 51 years. You can do it if you want to. Believe in yourself people. Good luck. X
I would be cautious with your optimism. The drinking is a symptom of underlying mental health issues ( this is absolutely true no matter what a person believes ). I would suggest going to an AA or some other group setting for therapy session. I say this because I have done exactly what you just described (several times) and never faced the real issues hiding under my false facade of a “normal” guy. Be safe!
Fantastic individualized recommendation. I speak from my own experience and of course everyone's journey will be their own! Thank you for your knowledge and feel free to share more as it comes to mind. Together we succeed, and there are many struggling in silence :)

45 days sober, here. This is my longest sober stretch since I was a kid, nearly 40 now. I struggle with sobriety every day still. These videos help keep me motivated. Thank you for sharing.
Great to hear the positive effects of no alcohol. I'm living with a drinker now and starting to drink more myself. The tension and negativity in the relationship is really starting to show.
I quit drinking a while back (I revisit videos like this for motivation), and in my experience my marriage went from okay to rocky, to outstanding. I'm much more patient with my spouse when I'm not dealing with the physiological effects of alcohol or it's withdrawal. Praying for you!
When COVID 19 came into our world I was off work one morning and walking home from the liquor store at about 7 am, I passed a line of people and I asked a girl what the line was for and she said it was a food line. I was standing there with an 18 pack at 7 am and she was standing in a line for food at 7 am. April 28th 2021 is just a few more days away and that will be a year of no alcohol for me! I sleep. I can focus. I find endless ways to be more efficient about anything. My work peers are having a hard time keeping up!. Thank you for your video.

Today is Day 16 for me. Last night was a struggle but I got through it. With me quitting both drinking and smoking it’s tough to tell which I’m really having withdrawals from 🤷🏿♂️. These videos are very helpful to rewatch whenever doubt creeps into my head or at night when it’s more vulnerable to have a drink or cig! The longest I went without drinking was 45 days. This time feels a lot different in the sense of me really focused and wanting to not go back. Anxiety has gone all the way down. Def not as bad as it was. Everyday will get better so let’s get it
I always said "I'm not addicted" until the day I created a spreadsheet to keep track of my daily routine and it turns out that I was drinking pretty much 6 out of 7 days a week. Last week I decided to stop and what really helped me was the fact that the following day I was in the supermarket and I said "let's buy a couple of beers". That hit so hard on me and at the same time is helping me to stay on the right path. Thanks for sharing this video and thanks for people that are commenting 🙌🏻
Thanks for this. I'm 67 years old, a former Army Special Forces veteran, 25 years law enforcement and 3 years as a security contractor in Afghanistan. I've been of the opinion that drinking has made everything much easier until last month when I was turned down for life insurance because of liver function, and I have a wife and daughter. I'm drinking as I type this. I have about 1 1/2 drinks left in the bottle, then God willing that's it. I'm done.

Having spent the majority of my adult life in the US Navy I have finally decided I have had enough. I'm on day 27 and feeling better everyday. Lost 12 lbs so far and reduced my high blood pressure now down to a slightly below normal range for my age. Still got a long way to go, but videos like this one help a lot. Thank you for making this one. All 20 things are absolutely true and I hope to continue on past 30, 90 and hopefully a lot longer.
I am on day three and I have a lot of anguish luckily I have some Xanax which I do not abuse I’ve done this before I’ve stopped for a year and backtracking a while ago and just recently in January of this year I stop for a month but went back this time I’m sick of it especially going through all of this anguish and anxiety I’m going to steadfast. How many days did it take you before you start feeling any Anguish anxiety
@@johnannoreno07 there's definitely therapeutic benefits to Xanax. But obviously it's highly addictive. I never abused it myself but found it greatly helpful
I have been sober for 11 years and I lost many of my old friends and new ones don’t really feel comfortable if they drink and we are out. Then you have the ones that instead of supporting and admiring the work you have put in, are always pushing for you to have “ JUST ONE” Throw in a vegan diet and you can pretty well be misunderstood on all sides. People act like it is a personal attack on their way of life. Well done to all the strong people here wishing to find a more meaningful life! Blessings all!!
This is so frustrating. Some, if not most people definitely like it’s a personal attack on them when I don’t drink. It’s like I’m indirectly saying “your life choices are terrible, look how holy and right I am!” What most people fail to understand is that my choice not to drink has NOTHING to do with them. It is MY personal decision which only affects me. It seems to bring out other people’s insecurities about their choices. Not that I care. I really don’t but they fail to comprehend that
The first minute of this video was exactly the first steps of my journey. The blood pressure the sleep the memory. This video is the truth from beginning to end
After drinking daily for about thirty years, I quit a couple of months ago. I have to say that I do feel better physically, I sleep better and I’m more focused on my tasks. That said, Life isn’t near as much fun without it. I felt alive when I drank, now I just feel empty and lonely without it. I hope that that feeling goes away.

@@GettingSoberAgain Hey brother, yes I am great. Update: I quit drinking and smoking cigarettes and taking adderall and smoking weed all by the end of February 2021. I have had only small issue with tiredness once I finally put it all down. It took about six weeks for me to mentally prepare myself to put it all down and the first two weeks I was super sleepy. I believe it has been by the grace of God that I don't have any cravings for nor have I had any for alcohol since late February when I quit. With that said I keep my guard up against alcohol and I plan to never drink again. I don't hide the fact that I quit and plan to never drink again. My ex wife also told me recently she has successfully quit drinking which was and answer to prayer and I can see she is so much better too. Thanks for asking about an update. Since most people I know work remote they don't see the change that I've experienced so it is nice to share. Today is my 30th day being sober . I ended up getting a dui a month ago and it made me realize that i was becoming somebody that i don't want to be . After these thirty days i feel like im slowly becoming myself again . I picked up guitar for the first time and haven't been able to drop it sense its definitely helped getting through those first weeks of feeling absolutely terrible . Watching videos like this has helped me so much , thank you !
Thanks for sharing this video. I know I’m a couple years late but I’m on this very journey myself. Today marks 6 days sober from alcohol! It’s not a significant time under the belt but it sure beats the alternative. I’m already beginning to experience several changes you’ve listed since I quit last week and know it’ll continue to get better going forward. I did admit myself into an outpatient women’s only rehab facility to help provide me with necessary tools in remaining sober, getting to recognize triggers, all while working on my mental health. I’m eating much better and healthier. I have 2 children who need me and loving parents who would be mortified if they lost their daughter because I’ve noticed some bad health changes from alcohol consumption. The only way to heal is to put down the drink which I did. If I continue on I’ll be dead…I’m only 36! For all going through a new journey to sobriety, we’ve got this! And those who have a lot of sobriety time, I look up to you and cannot wait to reach that point myself!
So here I am returning from my parents after thanksgiving, I can’t even remember the last time I wouldn’t drink during a family get together. I decided to stop drinking about 10 days ago or you could say I’m 10 days sober. This video helped me decide not to pick up a six pack afterwards.
I drank at least 1 1/2 bottles of wine a day. I did not think I could ever stop but my best friend and I began a 100 day challenge. She does not drink but I decided to give up alcohol. Tomorrow will make 40 days. i was shocked with the changes. For example, when I first began my poop was black for WEEKS! I though there was something wrong with me but thankfully, a friend told me it was normal. Overall, I feel better (once I learned how to sleep again). It's been an interesting challenge and I LOVE it. Thank you for your videos. They have been helpful.

I quit drinking 3 years ago,I started drinking when I woke up till I passed out,I was drinking a 30 pack a day. Stopped cold turkey,oh I got the gout which contributed to me stopping the insanity, and I opened up my own painting company. I’m 49 and started drinking at 15. I have 45 days today and feel much better. I’m more motivated, more in tune with my wife and children sleeping better and my overall outlook on life has improved greatly. I’m excited to continue this journey and see where sober life takes me!
Finding out that I’m a Type 2 Diabetic has motivated me to put down the beer cans as well as other lifestyle changes. It’s been 7 days and so far so good.
Well congrats. For me the opposite. I just got my blood work back after more than 4 months of zero alcohol. A1C level jumped 3 points. (5.6 up to 5.9) I'm so pissed. So much for the health benefits of not drinking. I thought giving up alcohol would help.
When you have been drinking for 25 or 30 yrs it takes a Little longer than 90 days to see a difference, maybe at month 4 but the difference is amazing. Some take longer than others. Everything in this video is true. Stick with it you'll see. Best of luck to all of you people. ✌

All of the emptiness, sadness, depression and ROOT CAUSES for feelings of inadequacy still remain. We have to BE HONEST with ourselves, cut the bullshit, and cut out ALL toxic behaviors. What's the point of getting sober if you still hang with alcoholics, or go through the same motions or still hang at the same places.

"Going out of fashion" I love that and totally agree
What a revelation!! You are a shining example of humanity and the world is better for you in it!

Klara, how have you been doing since your reply to this video?
That's a lot of alcohol for a woman to consume in a day. Set yourself goals that are short then build off of them. 1 week sober. Then 2, then a month.. It's hard as hell but if you want it bad enough you can do it. Most important thing is have something to replace the time that you used for drinking. Have something that you like to do that's challenging.
Howd you go klara?

keep going. see alcohol for what it is and, most importantly, for what it shouldn't be: a crutch. and if you happen to feel like having a few beers at a certain weekend withing months of sobriety, go ahead. go and come back. we are all going to die anyway, so choose to live the good life. your body is not a temple, is an amusement park. enjoy the ride.
You can do it!

I gave up any alcohol and started reading bible more. Has changed my life for the better even into eternity.
I was a 20 year functioning alcoholic. I gave up last October 19th 2020. I drank for four nights over Xmas, stopped for 3 days and then a 300cl bottle of Jack for New Years Eve... Not touched a drop in 21 and I don't even miss it.

Thanks for this. I'm 67 years old, a former Army Special Forces veteran, 25 years law enforcement and 3 years as a security contractor in Afghanistan. The craziest thing about not drinking is how everyone else reacts when you tell them. I get looks like I have two heads, some can't handle it at all.
I have been sober for 11 years and I lost many of my old friends and new ones don’t really feel comfortable if they drink and we are out. Then you have the ones that instead of supporting and admiring the work you have put in, are always pushing for you to have “ JUST ONE”
Throw in a vegan diet and you can pretty well be misunderstood on all sides. People act like it is a personal attack on their way of life. Well done to all the strong people here wishing to find a more meaningful life! Blessings all!!
This is so frustrating.
Some, if not most people definitely like it’s a personal attack on them when I don’t drink.
It’s like I’m indirectly saying “your life choices are terrible, look how holy and right I am!”
What most people fail to understand is that my choice not to drink has NOTHING to do with them.

Day 6 in the books- I was planning on taking a 45 day break but learning more facts about alcohol’s negative health impacts has me thinking
I'm sure you not the only one that feels that way. How long ago is a "couple" of months
Smoke weed duh
@@kdw94780 I used to smoke weed when I was younger, I just don’t want to start any more bad habits.
Smoking Colorado weed sober with good food is the best.
@@kdw94780 Cali sober certainly can work for some people. We also have people in the community that were smoking an ounce a week and would highly disagree. I'm glad that you are comfortable with your decision
THANKS! Been on the fence… “to drink or not to drink.” I know…. I think I’ll watch this everyday for a few days and get it though my thick head.

@@GettingSoberAgain Actually yes. I have also noticed that my dopamine system is normalizing. I am back to enjoying simple things like hiking, and kayaking.
@@hopshlooken that's amazing!! I think a lot of people are hoping to get to where you are :)
How's life treating you these days?
@@GettingSoberAgain I have introduced alcohol back into my life. But not like before. Just a small (4oz) glass of wine when visiting friends and family if they are having one. No bars. Nothing with meals at restaurants that serve alcohol. I guess I don't feel like its my vise, or enemy any more. How about you?
My second day of sobriety. This helped me a lot
I've been sober 63 days and after rehab after rehab I've finally managed to quit on my own . I feel fantastic and finally managing my health and responsibilities. Thank you for sharing this .. you are helping more people like myself than you know.

I was going to go to AA meetings but never made it and honestly I just don't think about alcohol anymore. I've been delivered praise be to God and thank you Jesus.
@@michaelking4578 incredible! And we give god the glory, Amen! What a blessing you are. May you continue to serve others and share your light and courage to help them find their way :)
I'm glad you were able to get back to sharing your talents with the world. Welcome back! Stay blessed and check in from time to time :)
That's wonderful, keep it up!
6 days is wonderful don't knock it. We'll done
Awesome 🎉🙌💪🤗and congratulations!!! Proud of you !! Thanks for the inspiration ❤️🤩💪🙏
When I get cravings sparking water hits the spot. Just needed some tingling.
Coz we mostly drink our whiskey with seltzer or drink beer
Kombucha helps and it’s good for you!
Same here!
Sparkling water with lemon or lime is really helpful!
I have a cup of tea
So here I am returning from my parents after thanksgiving, I can’t even remember the last time
I wouldn’t drink during a family get together. I decided to stop drinking about 10 days ago or you could say I’m 10 days sober. This video helped me decide not to pick up a six pack afterwards.
Heck yeah!!!! I'm super happy to hear that!!! Keep us updated
@@GettingSoberAgain thank man, it’s particularly harder during the holidays just because I’m so used to drinking during these times. Still fighting!
I switched from alcohol to slushies. Not the alcohol kind. It did help me stop
That's possibly the most innocent swap I've ever hear of lol
I drank at least 1 1/2 bottles of wine a day. I did not think I could ever stop but my best friend and I began a 100 day challenge. She does not drink but I decided to give up alcohol. Tomorrow will make 40 days. i was shocked with the changes. For example, when I first began my poop was black for WEEKS! I though there was something wrong with me but thankfully, a friend told me it was normal. Overall, I feel better (once I learned how to sleep again). It's been an interesting challenge and I LOVE it. Thank you for your videos. They have been helpful.
What a great friend!!!

I’m on week 3. No issues at all except a couple days being grumpy. My mom goes today for an mri on the cysts on her liver. She’s actually considering quitting alcohol. I’d never thought I’d here her say that. Let’s hope her and my little sister decide to quit too.

I needed this. I just quit drinking again and day two, Sunday evening, beer o’clock and needed a boost
I quit drinking 3 years ago,I started drinking when I woke up till I passed out,I was drinking a 30 pack a day. Stopped cold turkey,oh I got the gout which contributed to me stopping the insanity, and I opened up my own painting company. I have been drinking since I was little my uncle's used to give us pony bottles of beer make us hide from the mom's. I'm 48 and sober !
I get gout about every year. I just quit drinking and hope to God I don't get gout anymore! Pure torture!

SO COOL!!! Thanks for sharing and we look forward to hearing more
Well congrats.
For me the opposite.
I just got my blood work back after more than 4 months of zero alcohol. A1C level jumped 3 points. (5.6 up to 5.9)
I'm so pissed. So much for the health benefits of not drinking. I thought giving up alcohol would help.
Keep it up
There's some delicious food out there without sugar and carbs take care of your diet and curb that diabetes you can do it
When you have been drinking for 25 or 30 yrs it takes a Little longer than 90 days to see a difference, maybe at month 4 but the difference is amazing. Some take longer than others. Everything in this video is true. Stick with it you'll see. Best of luck to all of you people. ✌
I agree with more benefits around month 4! Thanks for commenting :)

Last June I quit smoking after 40 years and two packs a day. I've quit a lot of things in my life, but alcohol was by far the most difficult. I'm at 21 days right now and can't believe how good I feel.
