Learn the easiest way to prepare Healthy & Nutritious Coconut Milk with our chef Ruchi Bharani
Coconut milk is an opaque, milky-white liquid extracted from the grated pulp of mature coconuts. The opacity and rich taste of coconut milk are due to its high oil content, most of which is saturated fat. Its exotic flavor packs quite a punch and enhances a myriad of dishes - from soups and stews to curries and baked goods.
    Ingredients:
    - 1 Coconut(grated)
    - 1 cup Water
    Method:
    1. Take Fresh Grated Coconut and add it in the grinder along with one cup of water
    2. Grind it and remove the paste in a muslin cloth
    3. Now, squeeze out the milk
    4. Repeat the process with the same grinded coconut in the muslin cloth, to remove all of the remaining milk.
    5. Grind the grinded coconut with on more cup of water
    6. Remove its paste in the muslin cloth again and squeeze out all of the remaining milk

Coconut milk is a traditional food ingredient used in Southeast Asia, Oceania, South Asia, and East Africa. It is also used for cooking in the Caribbean, tropical Latin America, and West Africa, where coconuts were introduced during the colonial era.
Coconut milk is differentiated into subtypes based on fat content. They can be generalized into coconut cream (or thick coconut milk) with the highest amount of fat; coconut milk (or thin coconut milk) with a maximum of around 20% fat; and coconut skim milk with negligible amounts of fat. This terminology is not always followed in commercial coconut milk sold in western countries. Coconut milk can also be used to produce milk substitutes (differentiated as "coconut milk beverages").

I like this method of using only a small amount of water so the milk is tasty & creamy...but the pulp afterwards is tasteless, so I toast it to use in place of breadcrumbs. When I first made coconut milk with 4 cups water it was tasteless and too thin.

In kerala Actually we don't add this much water to make coconut milk .. This is so watery . normally we make the thick coconut milk first adding very very less water . then we keep that thick creamy milk aside and add more water on the already squeezed coconut then make the milk second time that ll not be thick as the first one and we use this milk for boiling fish or vegies instead of water.. then in the end we add thick coconut milk into the curry.
