I don’t think This leads to our downfall but in the grimore book they state there will be a day where a new type of guardian comes one who wields the dark and light. We are that guardian.

If you look at the Destinations screen in the Director during that mission, it shows up on the solar system map. I actually did expect it to be a patrol zone after the campaign.

Good eye! You might be on to something! Especially since they make so much reference to the Taken, asking how they are still "taking" (the Red Legion Commander that was "taken" in the strike in the EDZ), and that Oryx had sisters. I'd bet money that the next DLC after Forsaken will be something to do with the Dreadnought.
Interesting how the 2 main forces are two very strong naturally occurring shapes, tetrahedrons and spheres. Darkness and Light the two strongest forces, and tetrahedrons and spheres the two strongest 3 dimensional structures.
"Saint-14's Position argues that the Darkness was an invading armada, an alien force of incredible - but tangible - power. Some adherents believe that this armada sprang from species rejected or discarded by the Traveler for their sins." The Darkness Grimoire card
Words can't explain how I felt as someone who has seen almost all concept art, all lore, and played hours on hours of Destiny when I saw those ships. Major things are coming and I expect it to be huge
When I finished the campaign and saw those triangles, I felt that rush you get when you rediscover a long lost secret. I remember seeing those things in the concept art of the first game. Pray for Destiny 3!
Possibly, the ships, are ships of guardians, not light, but darkness. The darkness found a race it deemed worthy, and gave it similar abilities we have, but using the darkness. Now those dark guardians are here to hunt us.
I remember the speaker saying "I speak for the traveller, I never said it spoke to me" but in forsaken the traveller speaks to you on IO and repeats the same speach the speaker gave about the light. It's obviously been awake for a while. These ships are what the darkness actually is. They are shown in the dream sequence as the traveller is attacked while terraforming IO.
here's a theory.. what if those ships are like the traveler.. instead of the light that the traveler gives guardians. it gives its followers darkness. this may be a plot for the next game where you may be able to choose between these two. and there will be a different set of powers/classes. creating a new game mode where the two battle it out
Perhaps thats where Forsaken comes in? As sort of a test for D3s campaign, where you can choose to invade other player's game, like Dark Souls? That's interesting to ponder..
jaime98jr ZOOM anyone has an idea why you see Oryx shape in the light body that then turns into Ghauls respawned giant body? Plz have a look at it. It's a totally weired thing unless Ghaul is infected by Darkness like Oryx was/is.
"In geometry, a tetrahedron, also known as a triangular pyramid, is a polyhedron composed of four triangular faces, six straight edges, and four vertex corners." Don't let nerds shake you... they're still pyramids.
OK my math teacher side has to come out. Tetrahedrons are, in fact, pyramids mathematically speaking. A pyramid is a shape that has a polygon as a base and the remaining sides are triangles with a common vertex. Another name for a tetrahedron is a triangular pyramid. The pyramids in Egypt are square pyramids.
I'm saying this in 2018 when I've completed the campaign 5 times but whaching this I only just noticed that cayde (R.I.P cayde-6) is the only person who clapped when he saw you at the end of the campaign
I feel like the giant Triangle IS the darkness and the smaller ships house the antithesis to our guardians who wield the light. The fifth race could be the wielders of the darkness that the darkness chose just like us. Also the reason I do believe the big triangle is the darkness is because if the darkness is supposed to be the opposite of the traveler it wouldn't make sense for the darkness to not have a physical form just like its mortal enemy, from a logical standpoint I feel like the darkness should have a physical manifestation like the traveler only different from it, a tetrahedron makes sense since the traveler is a sphere and a tetrahedron has edges but that's my own personal theory on it, I'm in no way a Destiny lore buff I only just started watching these lore videos because I'm sick and tired of the cool stuff I hear Destiny has but never implemented into the game unlike Dark souls. Also can someone give me the name of that OST that played in the beginning half of this video, the one where your guardian is walking the wilds with no where to go after the city is taken over in the beginning of the game, it's one of my favorites from Destiny 2 and I can't find it for the life of me.
Volt65 You did not just say Dark Souls didn't implement any of its lore in the game did you... It's literally the only place to find said lore! In game! It's just shrouded in mystery which is why lore hunting in Dark souls is so fun. You just have to find it. Not just expect it to be at your doorstep.
Poom Shroom that’s not what I meant at all.....not even close. What I meant was that Destiny has such rich lore LIKE Dark Souls but Bungie don’t incorporate like how From Software does. Also do you seriously think I’m one of those people who want everything handed at their doorstep, there’s a reason why I’m watching these videos, that’s why I like Dark Souls lore a lot, it’s handed but at the same time you have infer and speculate with the clues they give you
Byf please please read the lore on the exotic warlock helmet eye of another world, not a single video on this topic of the post credit scene has covered it, it mentions the pyramids coming across the void like the traveller did and also that a unnamed warlock is in communication with it, I'm going crazy making this same comment on all the post credit scene vids out there please address this and give your findings ...please
DeKuTree i know dude if you watch the very beginning video of the whole game when it talks about you see a triangular shadow for when the darkness shows up
Unnamed warlock aye? Osiris dlc it is. Which is kind of a shame. These bad ass enemies deserve there own game more than the cabal. So I'm hoping it's just an introduction like crota and get the big bad mother fucker in year 5
unnamed warlock?...I might be talking out of my ass but... Dredgen Yor-ish stuff? or Toland?(Is he still alive? I need to go back and read more on that.) Osiris is a warlock (if I remember right) and putting him in that spot doesn't make sense as he studies the Vex. So....I guess any theory is up for debate at the moment.
The animation of the traveler being shadowed by a triangular object and then transitioning to a view of space also adds to evidence that those dark triangles were in fact a part of the collapse.
it's kinda interesting coming back ALL the way to where it began with the Darkness in D2 after now knowing so much more about it yet so little at the same time.
Don’t know why this popped up in my recommended 4 years later but to anyone watching this in 2022, it took some time, there were some bumps, but yes, they finally got to where they were going with the scene, and it is so worth it.
The phrase "the darkness" is a placeholder for this new upcoming foe. A foe that is the true enemy of the traveler, with the detonation of the traveler, it has revealed its location. Now that foe is coming.. the vex, hive, and taken are all pawns of that foe tasked with hunting the traveler down to devour its light.
Both points valid and I agree. Just some interesting opinions I ran across in another video from another UA-camr called Timbo, which this comment is not advertising it was a random video I saw, that I thought was a interesting statement and could possibly hold some insight.
-SkyFalcon- honestly think that the darkness, like the traveler, is celestial or godlike shifting all things it pleases or deems worthy to become one with the darkness giving us a Taken like pure form like in Halo's flood.
My thought was that we failed to protect the traveler from the cabal forcing it to waken. It's reason to sleep was because if it woke it would also wake the tetrahedron ships.
That would be more satisfying, because the Traveler might not be as powerful as the Darkness is right now and we will not yet have to decide to give up the Light in order to end the struggle of both. We might just have to gain strength, weaken the Darkness and establish the balance.
I personally think the "ships" are just avatars for the darkness, much like the Traveler is for the light. Though the traveler grants us our light and allows us to wield the light, it isn't itself the light. I think that this is the same for these space triangles. They're literally the same yet opposite of the traveler. I would argue that this matches the talk of symmetry far better than them being dimensional portals. Unless the Traveler is a dimensional portal to a place where the light has full control.
Garrett Howell well the idea of a guardian is to protect the traveler, to guard it. This would be more or less a form of vessel for the darkness to grant powers to. I do not believe humans would get this chance to fight for the dankness, but another alien species would make more sence, most likely one from outside the milky way and naybe from the Andromeda galaxy since it's the closest.....but then again people would yell theft because mass erect did it first :\
Bryan Johnson U can't look at one side of a tetrahedron and call that a pyramid because they both have triangular sides which was shown in the concept art. Now we have an animation of those ships turning around so it can be confirmed as tetrahedrons.
B-Music I believe that the speak is just another physical analogy or metaphor for the 'light/traveler' so he isn't really anyone. Which could explain why he could understand the traveler.
I like to think that Rahool's line of "The best Cryptarchs aren't known by name but by the quality of their work" is a nice subtle nod to the lore community basically saying while you aren't named in game we recognise the effort you put in for Destiny and it's community and naming them Cryptarchs in recognition.
Osaris becomes the new speaker, he literally is the best choice. as he was there with the speaker in the past but was exiled. Also a circular object would essentially be the opposite of a tetrahendrion. The light is in the travellor which is a orb (circular) while the darkness is in those tetrahedrions. WWOOWOW
Hi byf. new subscriber here. just found this glancing through you tube. love the content an the hard work you take to explain everything. Thank you. gonna catch up on the rest of the lore now. Please keep up the good work
It's actually just fallout 76, the final boss is Todd Howard, and when you defeat him, a burst of Darkness comes out of his body and takes you. Then, your vision goes dark. After awhile, it starts to come back. "Hey you. You're finally awake. Got caught in that imperial ambush trying to cross the border, same as us, and that thief over there."
I believe it's the darkness. I also think that the war with them will be so bad that we have to find a way to get the fallen, vex, kabal, taken and unite them with us just to beat them.
Gabriel Hernandez 6 months late but iirc the Vex let us into the VoG that one time to kill the taken in there and didn’t shoot us, just held the door because they were desperate for help.
AssOfKings 1 I like your theory.. what if... you can go back to "enemy of my enemy" and strike up some kind of allegiance with the captain if you chose not to kill him?
What ever the 5th race is, it would be safe to say that that race is the Dark's version of guardians. Where the Traveller has chosen humanity as it's champions, this conduit of darkness chose the 5th race. Also the I believe that the large triangular ship is the Dark's version of the Traveller, and the smaller ones are the 5th race's ships. I say this because supposedly the darkness chaces the light from one side of space to the other, then it would make sense that the darkness would make a conduit of dark when the light made a conduit of light, and same goes for the light's champions, it is the rule of symmetry, the light makes something, the dark does the equal, so the fith race follows its Traveller in search of the Traveller, but humanity has had no reason to make ships and follow our Traveller, because it has been "sleeping".
Hey guys I know this has nothing to do with this but imagine for a future dlc the tower/last city have a civil war! Then maybe you the vanguards will be on opposite sides same with the gunsmith, MASTER RAHOOL! Etc. Then in one fight u will have to kill an opposing vanguard
Cuz he wants to be in the Star Wars universe 1. He’s a dawnblade 2. Being a warlock in general means being magical ‘n stuff 3. Did you notice his armor he looks like Padme from the first movie P.S. the last one is a joke
Completely unrelated to the topic: I just noticed the Exo Stranger's arms are similar to the design of some of the Destiny 2 Hunter gauntlets with the elbow-spikes. ARE WE GETTING CLOSER TO HER TIME?
Flying_Duck _Person well the stranger is (with fair certainty) Ana Bray’s sister, Elsie Bray. While Ana was a guardian her sister wasn’t so she time-hopped around creating tech such as the Shadow trespass exotic ship that mentions her in its lore.
As do I, but I currently see no reason, Lore Wise, to go back, unless another being takes over and uses it as a Base of Operations, but we deweaponized it already. It's useless
My mind immediately went to that concept art from GDC 2013 when I saw those ships. It was a relief to see these enemies show up, as it implies that Bungie isn't outright abandoning The Darkness like Luke Smith said they were, or at least not as drastically. If those ships actually do end up being Gateways to an alternate reality, then *I wonder if the humanoids depicted in that "5th Enemy" art are Alternate Guardians, or Dark Guardians?* Guardians of The Darkness?
there is no such thing as the opposite of a sphere, or more specifically Nothingness is the opposite of a sphere: Sphere is the opposite of a sphere. *Sphere is defined by a center point O and surface, so that the distance R from center point to the surface is always the same. Opposite is no point and no surface. Nothingness is the opposite of a sphere.
Indego Stalker wym there’s literally no such things as opposite shapes you can make stuff up like a triangle could be opposite of a square or any shape vice verses
@Ben W A sphere is the most complex shape, having infinite sides and vertices. A Tetrahedron is the exact opposite: the simplest shape, with the least number of sides and vertices possible for a shape in 3-Dimensional space.
We have killed a Prince. We have killed a King. We have killed a man who wished to be the Emperor. But was just a Legendary General with more power than a king. We have slain all those that have commanded armies agents the light. But the true Emperor of Darkness has not come forth. Why would the Emperor squish an ant himself when he has servants to do so for him. But now we have his personal attention. The Darkness has awakened. The champion of darkness is the emperor of darkness and we are the champion of light. Our battle draws near, but remember there is never just two sides in a war but always at least three. In this one there is the Light, the Darkness, and those that are stuck in the middle what can be called the Shadows. Whose side do you think the Stranger is on.
These are beasts who are even closer to the darkness, like direct heirs or spawns. However they are more of the darkness rather than utilizing its power, so the light awakens them.
I can hear your voice all day man! Thank the Universe I found your page, today was a history lesson for me from you ...new to Destiny and this is what I needed ! You ARE THE MAN!
I have two lore questions for you Byf about the Taken. 1) Why are there no taken Dreg? Did Oryx view them as too pathetically weak to be taken. I suppose the same could be asked about why there are no Taken Vex Harpy. 2) When Oryx took a victim, what became of that victim's weapon and armor? Was it replaced with constructs of darkness or was it infected and perfected by the darkness like its owner?
This would make sense. For us as guardians to come against equally powerful guardians of the darkness. For us to finally defeat said dark guardians and then embrace the darkness with our light and gain more power.
Il S T R A T Il not at all?? He made it sound point to say with darkness there is light. So we can't ever take out the darkness. Well most likely fight it and make a truce
Every time I enter the Tower 2.0 and hear "the Traveler" soundtrack, I just can't help but smile. Absolutely my favorite soundtrack, it was worth working all the way up to
Because story line...? Not much more of a reason. A new game presents more lure and even more of a story to play through. The ships suggest a destiny 3, they're light years out and they moved at the pace of turtle compared to the distance they have to travel. It wouldn't make since for a DLC to implement them because it would take away from an entire possible story line for the next destiny of a fight between light and dark. I noticed nobody gave you an answer, I play PC so destiny has been released for maybe a month tops for me. I just figured I'd respond :D
Or maybe it’s exactly as Byf said, the ships of darkness are dimensional portals to the darkness, while the traveler is a dimensional portal to the light. One could go as far as saying the Ahmakaran are the traveler’s vessels. Still a theory, but I’m sure there’s stuff out there to prove it.
Severa I agree but feel that the orb is like a mech of sorts, a machine construct through witch the Traveler itself acts through similar to how the Vex radiolaria act through their robotic bodies.
I want 2 major questions in Destiny 2 addresses, what is the relation between the Traveller and the Vex (early D1 concept art showed Vex structures within a spherical construct), and why couldn't all the other surviving Guardians be escorted to the shard to regain their Light by us?
My second point really frustrates me because no one in the story even asks how we regained our Light. They just said, "What? You have your light back?! Impossible!".
I remember hawthorne (i think) say that was a broken piece of the traveler that came off a long time ago and they didnt go near it because they thought the darkness manifested it, but at the same time they dont say anything about it
To answer your second question, this is a comment from Byf: "So on the note of the lore and the escort mission. Cool idea but it wouldn't work out. The whole point is that light needs to be given by choice. The Traveler is that which chooses. It gave you the vision, it gave you the light. It refused it for Ghaul and any others. In canon that's kind of why we're the only ones who can reclaim it from the shard. Seems pretty clear that for story purposes, you're the only guardian who's meant to have reclaimed the light. The story isn't meant to be done with a fireteam in the canon I guess..."
Gage Glover bothered the hell or of me too. Upon charging the third subclass ghost does say that there is a little light left in the shard, suggesting it had a limited amount to offer. BUT WHY DID NO OTHER GUARDIAN EVEN ASK! Seems like that would be the first priority before challenging Ghaul.
On your first point: that early concept art could have been based around the original idea for the Destiny story, in which the Traveller is actually evil, and housed the Black Garden and its heart. Then when they had to hurriedly do a rewrite they changed the Travellers role to "benevolent globular stucture that does very little" =P
I have a feeling that the big "Triangle" is the darkness itself like the big sphere is the traveler and then the smaler "Triangles" are the minions of the darkness basically the new race we will inevitably fight againgst I atleast hope so that would be pretty sweet!
You also see Triangular shapes, which may be the ships or something, during the cinematic after Ghaul kicks you off his ship they are seen to be sinking in the water. Maybe a link to when the Traveler first defeats them?
Micah Watson Could be D3 since bungie said they will never implement the darkness into D2, but they never said that about D3. At least if those ships actually are the darkness. The only explanation I can think of that would be a 3rd D2 dlc is that those ships are savathun's ships
Can't the darkness be explained the same way as the light. The ships may be fragments of the physical manifestation of the darkness like the traveler is the physical manifestation of the light. However, you implied that the ships could be gateways to a universe where the darkness is all powerful. By the logic of the ying yang you mentioned, could the traveler be a gateway to a dimension where the light is all powerful? If I'm wrong about any of this please correct me. I haven't really searched through the grimoire but this is the assumption I'm making off of the information i have
Basically meaning our universe is the battleground for two opposing deities from separate realities. Both likely building up existing life for war to see who gets to keep this universe to themselves.
5 years ago you basically predicted the entire plot about darkness till Beyond Light, The "ships" being darkness, them being a gateway to another reality, our relation with it... Only question I have, can we enter the traveler, now that we have been "in" those pyramids multiple times?
Nice video Byf but theres one thing about the "triangle ships" that you didnt mention and i wonder if im the only one whos noticed this if you go back and watch the vision you have at the beginning of destiny 2 those triangle ships are there as well as the world eater. warnings of things to come?
The triangle ships are shown diving under water. I think they're actually Savathun's fleet, and the plot will be in some way tied to the ocean-world of Titan. If I'm wrong, cool. Bring it on, Bungie, give us something cool.
mystermistery it'd make sense for it to be Titan, you know with a lot of the Hive being there, hearing a screech similar to Omnigul in the first mission there, Oryx's body floating off near Saturn after Kings fall raid, and the giant worm you see living in the ocean in the mission to grab the CPU. So yeah it'd make sense for Titan
We know that each enemy have their own home worlds light years away. This means there is plenty of life and development beyond our system. From where these ships come from we don’t know, but judging by concept art and the video, it’s gonna be something big and bad...
Wanting to get back into Destiny after a several year absence. Clearly the first step is to go back and watch all of Byf’s videos to refresh and catch up.
Who knows, but considering how far out they were, we are probably waiting for them until D3. I doubt they will skimp on narrative in the meantime though for expansions.
I think we should deal with other threats in expansions but have a cutscene dedicated to the progress of these ships each time. Each cutscene would be them getting closer and closer and the final cutscene of the final destiny 2 expansion would be those ships arriving in our solar system
I really actually hope that we don't see the Darkness until D3. Think of it this way: We can spend D2 in a new Golden Age. Figuring out what the fuck is up with the Fallen. Figure out who is leading the Taken now. Figure out what is going to happen with the Cabal now that Red Legion is pretty much donezo. Figure out what is going on with Osiris and all the other loose ends that we have right now. D3 comes around and it was all for naught. Instead of just being told and hearing about the collapse and how devastating it was... we get to actually play through it. We get to see the end of the world that we have been fighting to save, that we have been the heroes of the entire time, and an actual close to a franchise that Bungie has created *cough* Halo *cough*
Dude I have been watching all of your videos and I’m so happy you are masterful to say the least and she’d so much “light” on lore I’d never even known about thanks it’s much appreciated
13:46 wouldn't that be are new enemy's after all it's a triangle the only problem is doesn't it say the traveler destroyed it's ancient enemy than after all it would make since that now that they have felt the light they would be coming back for revenge?
raddust 3000 yeah maybe it just knocked them really far back/away and shut them down, but the reawakening also woke them up, and maybe the traveler was just trying to slow them down and let us grow by staying comatose
I have a theory, and it is very similar to yours. What if the reason the Traveler woke up is because Ghaul would have become as powerful as the Travel if kept alive. And the reason he stayed dormant is because it woke up is because it waking would have woken the Darkness as well. Just a theory though.
XxShadowPandaxX Me Dude I love the theory but like everybody has thought of this too and it does make sense honestly cause even Tyra at the farm asks if the Traveler stayed asleep for this long because of something bigger.
Its the architects! Based on the fact that when you jump off the map, it says “Killed by the architects” and shows some triangles, those triangles look like the tetrahedrons at the ending.
I think that triangular shadow encroaching over The Traveller during the collapse section of the opening video is a big hint that those ships from the end are indeed aligned with The Darkness ua-cam.com/video/WjZEEouWRVE/v-deo.htmlm45s
Byf, the fact that you predicted Shadowkeep’s main lore reveal is amazing and this early on

Good eye! You might be on to something! That’s is too coincidental to not be true. I think you are right.
See I noticed that now with Forsaken being where those ships were from the reef war
Interesting how the 2 main forces are two very strong naturally occurring shapes, tetrahedrons and spheres. Darkness and Light the two strongest forces, and tetrahedrons and spheres the two strongest 3 dimensional structures.
Also beautiful how opposite they are; tetrahedrons are the 3D structure with the fewest sides, and spheres have “infinite” sides
Tetrahedrons are stronger

Possibly, the ships, are ships of guardians, not light, but darkness. The darkness found a race it deemed worthy, and gave it similar abilities we have, but using the darkness. Now those dark guardians are here to hunt us.
I bet they're gonna make a strike about some cabal second in command trying to repair it and we'll have to stop him :p
I thought the SAME exact thing. I honestly hope it is
Yoooo that's a sick idea
I am Syth tbh I hope it's the cult that follows the original guardian
you mean the hive?
I remember the speaker saying "I speak for the traveller, I never said it spoke to me" but in forsaken the traveller speaks to you on IO and repeats the same speach the speaker gave about the light.
It's obviously been awake for a while.
These ships are what the darkness actually is.
They are shown in the dream sequence as the traveller is attacked while terraforming IO.
here's a theory.. what if those ships are like the traveler.. instead of the light that the traveler gives guardians. it gives its followers darkness. this may be a plot for the next game where you may be able to choose between these two. and there will be a different set of powers/classes. creating a new game mode where the two battle it out
forgoton soul exact my idear
That idea is fucking awesome, here have my kids
Perhaps thats where Forsaken comes in? As sort of a test for D3s campaign, where you can choose to invade other player's game, like Dark Souls? That's interesting to ponder..
forgoton soul Could be! When Uldren Sov asks you if you’re sure which side you’re really on and your guardian doubts for a second.
@@mattl2457 that would be so amazing

This guys like the Vaatividya of Destiny. I love it. Great job man.
Ryan Bussey haha not even close
big richard I mean kind of, they are both lore youtubers. Only different styles and genres
Flaming Badger Yh and this guy actually posts videos
LMAO bringing dark souls into destiny ayy??? lol
He also kinda sounds like Vaati too. His seriousness with the occasional meme is very similar also.
the end cutscene reminds me of the reapers from mass effect
lets just hope everyone doesn't die at the end and that the final boss isn't a child with 3 coloured choices :P

"In geometry, a tetrahedron, also known as a triangular pyramid, is a polyhedron composed of four triangular faces, six straight edges, and four vertex corners."
Don't let nerds shake you... they're still pyramids.
I was hoping someone pointed this out. A pyramid is a tetrahedron. Thank you for doing the light’s work 3 years ago!
I just love the soundtrack to the introduction of those ships at the end of d2 sounds so ominous
I'm saying this in 2018 when I've completed the campaign 5 times but whaching this I only just noticed that cayde (R.I.P cayde-6) is the only person who clapped when he saw you at the end of the campaign
He actually cared... i guess that's why they chose him for forsaken? To amplify the pain?
dis _iz tud. Cuz he’s the only person we actually cared about
@@windexbleach3725 true
I'm here guys
Played the forsaken campaign with my titan a few days ago. Made me realize how much i miss cayde
Watching this a few days before Lightfall launches is an... experience
True
It's called "Journey". Just go on Bungies channel and you'll find it, too.
So... The Darkness is edgy?
Poom Shroom that’s not what I meant at all.....not even close. What I meant was that Destiny has such rich lore LIKE Dark Souls but Bungie don’t incorporate like how From Software does. Also do you seriously think I’m one of those people who want everything handed at their doorstep, there’s a reason why I’m watching these videos, that’s why I like Dark Souls lore a lot, it’s handed but at the same time you have infer and speculate with the clues they give you
BrownTaxi Nice essay dude
Byf please please read the lore on the exotic warlock helmet eye of another world, not a single video on this topic of the post credit scene has covered it, it mentions the pyramids coming across the void like the traveller did and also that a unnamed warlock is in communication with it, I'm going crazy making this same comment on all the post credit scene vids out there please address this and give your findings ...please
DeKuTree I actually noticed this too, the connection is so strong I'm surprised no one is talking about it.
So I'm hoping it's just an introduction like crota and get the big bad mother fucker in year 5
DeKuTree first of all they are not triangles, they are tetrahedrians
unnamed warlock?...I might be talking out of my ass but... Dredgen Yor-ish stuff? or Toland?(Is he still alive? I need to go back and read more on that.) Osiris is a warlock (if I remember right) and putting him in that spot doesn't make sense as he studies the Vex. So....I guess any theory is up for debate at the moment.
The animation of the traveler being shadowed by a triangular object and then transitioning to a view of space also adds to evidence that those dark triangles were in fact a part of the collapse.
battle of the shapes geometry war golden age
yo you were right
Here after the pyramid is in shadowkeep
Endimension yes man
Me too lmao
Theyre in Shadowkeep?
Plot twist: the pyramid is the moon...........
Here after pyramid ships are on Titan, Io, Mars, and Mercury.
it's kinda interesting coming back ALL the way to where it began with the Darkness in D2 after now knowing so much more about it yet so little at the same time.
This ships were present in some destiny concept arts before the release of destiny 1.
Don’t know why this popped up in my recommended 4 years later but to anyone watching this in 2022, it took some time, there were some bumps, but yes, they finally got to where they were going with the scene, and it is so worth it.
It's been 4 years... I don't think any of us expected the darkness to be this big.
This big? Homie we’ve gotten only 1 enemy from the darkness, tormentors and we’re getting 2 more in the final shape
@@eriksilva1924 Turns out that one enemy was actually an entire race, so…billions I guess
-SkyFalcon- Well, the Vex are, well, the Vex. And I wouldnt really call them pawns, they all just have goals that align with the Darkness' goal.
Klyde Mallorca They worshipped it because they thought it would grant them powers, and they were right.
See you have the light and the dark so you would think why they fight and what would their creator do. I mean there are so many questions
ViruLe Dalek I agree. I wonder if that means there are some sort of dark Guardians aboard those ships.
Garrett Howell only if we weakened it to the point of needing Guardians
"your traveler has a dark mirror" I guess we'll see the anti-traveler eventually?
Garrett Howell well the idea of a guardian is to protect the traveler, to guard it.
This would be more or less a form of vessel for the darkness to grant powers to. I do not believe humans would get this chance to fight for the dankness, but another alien species would make more sence, most likely one from outside the milky way and naybe from the Andromeda galaxy since it's the closest.....but then again people would yell theft because mass erect did it first :\
The Andromeda stuff, not the enemy from outside our galaxy. Thats been done over with alot more than this
Im sure someone has already said it. But the darkness arrival seems very Borg inspired.
I like it
Pyramids were in the D1 concept Art. They were also in the background pics during the Triumph download.
Bryan Johnson U can't look at one side of a tetrahedron and call that a pyramid because they both have triangular sides which was shown in the concept art. Now we have an animation of those ships turning around so it can be confirmed as tetrahedrons.
lol i really dont care of the shape just wanting to make the point of where they appeared....thats all, but agree with u on its shape.
Bryan Johnson i thought i was the only one to recognize the darkness concept art from d1 lol
Considering he used the concept art image in this video I believe he knows this.
lol same
Omg I just realized who the real speaker is. Who his true identity is. And his name is Byf
B-Music people need to like this. BYF MUST SEE IT
B-Music he no speaker bc speaker doesn't even speak
B-Music I believe that the speak is just another physical analogy or metaphor for the 'light/traveler' so he isn't really anyone. Which could explain why he could understand the traveler.
I like to think that Rahool's line of "The best Cryptarchs aren't known by name but by the quality of their work" is a nice subtle nod to the lore community basically saying while you aren't named in game we recognise the effort you put in for Destiny and it's community and naming them Cryptarchs in recognition.
Can he be the new savage speaker? XD
Osaris becomes the new speaker, he literally is the best choice. as he was there with the speaker in the past but was exiled. Also a circular object would essentially be the opposite of a tetrahendrion. The light is in the travellor which is a orb (circular) while the darkness is in those tetrahedrions. WWOOWOW
Abe Great theory
Abe just a question:
What is osaris and travellor?
Armando Cruz spelling errors
The entire expansion pack 1 is about Osiris so it's a good possibility

It's actually just fallout 76, the final boss is Todd Howard, and when you defeat him, a burst of Darkness comes out of his body and takes you. Then, your vision goes dark. After awhile, it starts to come back. "Hey you. You're finally awake. Got caught in that imperial ambush trying to cross the border, same as us, and that thief over there."
They aren't triangles, they are toblerones!
But toblorones are triangular prisms
FracturedSoul 23 the rad mechanic will be eating the bosses before they respawn.
it's the borge( only in trinagle form)
I believe it's the darkness. I also think that the war with them will be so bad that we have to find a way to get the fallen, vex, kabal, taken and unite them with us just to beat them.
Ezra Hernandez Idk about those machines joining the light. Cabal and fallen would be like the elites joining humanity in halo so hell yeah!
Gabriel Hernandez 6 months late but iirc the Vex let us into the VoG that one time to kill the taken in there and didn’t shoot us, just held the door because they were desperate for help.
New playable characters?
The hive, taken, and vex are allied with the darkness
That was my exact thought. Straight away I thought to myself, is this a darkness traveler seeming when he explained the theory of ying and yang.

It’s fun to come back and watch and see what we got right and wrong
The opposite of light is dark. ....the opposite of a sphere is a triangle !
there is no such thing as the opposite of a sphere, or more specifically Nothingness is the opposite of a sphere:
Sphere is the opposite of a sphere. *Sphere is defined by a center point O and surface, so that the distance R from center point to the surface is always the same. Opposite is no point and no surface. Nothingness is the opposite of a sphere.
@@raserapps8230 you tried too hard man. Ultron nailed it a year ago, the opposite of a sphere is a triangle.

@@raserapps8230 a sphere is the most complex shape and a tetrahedron is the simplest shape

A sphere is the most complex shape, having infinite sides and vertices.
Daniel Jensen can’t wait for that DLC.
Daniel Jensen lmao when Destiny fans think the story is as compelling as this
Dude if that came out as a DLC summary, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
Daniel Jensen I elect you to be the new speaker
That is really deep.
These are beasts who are even closer to the darkness, like direct heirs or spawns. However they are more of the darkness rather than utilizing its power, so the light awakens them.

There were Taken Harpies. You fight a few of them as mini-bosses.
Someone much smarter than me pointed out that the opposite of a sphere is a tetrahedron. The opposite of the light and traveler essentially.
The Chiefs I was thinking that. Two exact opposites
How are those opposites?
This would make sense. For us as guardians to come against equally powerful guardians of the darkness. For us to finally defeat said dark guardians and then embrace the darkness with our light and gain more power.
Il S T R A T Il not at all?? He made it sound point to say with darkness there is light. So we can't ever take out the darkness. Well most likely fight it and make a truce
No that schip are from the vex
Byf, what was your favorite song from the soundtrack? Mine was journey, just so good.
Robo Trex I quite like "the Farm".
Le mec acide I love the farm song too
Robo Trex Journey was epic
Every time I enter the Tower 2.0 and hear "the Traveler" soundtrack, I just can't help but smile. Absolutely my favorite soundtrack, it was worth working all the way up to
Frankly the whole soundtrack is awesome
Aaah yes! Triangles, the arch nemesis of circles.
Why are we already talking about destiny 3...
I heard some people talking about Destiny 4!!! Ffs, just play the current game😂
We all know it's going to happen lol
Bc destiny 2 has now become boring
But we should be talking about the dlc rather than destiny 3
Because story line...? Not much more of a reason. A new game presents more lure and even more of a story to play through. The ships suggest a destiny 3, they're light years out and they moved at the pace of turtle compared to the distance they have to travel. It wouldn't make since for a DLC to implement them because it would take away from an entire possible story line for the next destiny of a fight between light and dark. I noticed nobody gave you an answer, I play PC so destiny has been released for maybe a month tops for me. I just figured I'd respond :D
I feel that the orb may be the "ship" or carrier of the traveler and not the traveler itself.
like an ancient alien in hibernation.
Severa I agree but feel that the orb is like a mech of sorts, a machine construct through witch the Traveler itself acts through similar to how the Vex radiolaria act through their robotic bodies.
samm hain like the didact in halo 4 even though bungie had nothing to do with that installation it does look ALOT like it
Many grimore cards suggest that the light is something else and the traveller is a machine, a construct that is merely an agent of the light.
Bookmarked, going to come back and watch after I'm done with my vids LOL

Here
I want 2 major questions in Destiny 2 addresses, what is the relation between the Traveller and the Vex (early D1 concept art showed Vex structures within a spherical construct), and why couldn't all the other surviving Guardians be escorted to the shard to regain their Light by us?
My second point really frustrates me because no one in the story even asks how we regained our Light. They just said, "What? You have your light back?! Impossible!".
I remember hawthorne (i think) say that was a broken piece of the traveler that came off a long time ago and they didnt go near it because they thought the darkness manifested it, but at the same time they dont say anything about it
To answer your second question, this is a comment from Byf:
"So on the note of the lore and the escort mission.
From the moment the light hit the triangles, the music that plays... so good so eerie
Simple explanation. Dlc.
Omar Pineda Truth sucks, they gotta have our money
The big dlc like taken king in destiny
Micah Watson That ruined d1 for me
Micah Watson Could be D3 since bungie said they will never implement the darkness into D2, but they never said that about D3. At least if those ships actually are the darkness. The only explanation I can think of that would be a 3rd D2 dlc is that those ships are savathun's ships
It's the curse of Osiris dlc
Wait. If that's the darkness, then doesn't that mean that the traveler is going to leave?
Edit: Spelling
Flare no, it will resist the darkness
But in its previous visits, to other places, it has always left
Team 9 nobody asked you your too dumb to understand u even thought England is a city 😂😂
Flare true
Jeromiboss21 Uchiha dummy I hate Jake Paul silly goose. Actually watch my videos. I mock him. Silly boi
David Tucker Dude... that's some philosophical shit man!
GodMingo yea they fall into water maybe the triangles will crash into titan??
I saw it too, i didn't know if anyone else saw it. Good thing I wasn't alone.
mystermistery it'd make sense for it to be Titan, you know with a lot of the Hive being there, hearing a screech similar to Omnigul in the first mission there, Oryx's body floating off near Saturn after Kings fall raid, and the giant worm you see living in the ocean in the mission to grab the CPU. So yeah it'd make sense for Titan
mystermistery What would be cooler is if the ships were the darkness itself
I miss my exos voice from D1
Mr Negi 5 Me too
Mr Negi 5 that's y the game. Fail didn't let's tell our own story
So do we have to wait until D3 to continue main story or will an expansion help move this Darkness narrative along?
Who knows, but considering how far out they were, we are probably waiting for them until D3. I doubt they will skimp on narrative in the meantime though for expansions.
Solarian that would be stupid we have to wait another 3-4 years for the darkness
Think of it this way:
We can spend D2 in a new Golden Age.
Imagine how fast that wave was moving
doWNriteGreat46 literally faster then light
ᗷᗩᘔIᑎGᗩ 1017 yup
Literally all I could think of. More luminescent than the entire milky way and the light travels much faster. How powerful is the traveler??
the ships at the end remind me of the gould ships from stargate sg1
Dude I have been watching all of your videos and I’m so happy you are masterful to say the least and she’d so much “light” on lore I’d never even known about thanks it’s much appreciated
Anybody else come back to older videos of lore or “ ____ explained” to see how much we’ve gotten right and then sometimes how far off we were
ye
XxShadowPandaxX Me man, that's a good theory!
I thought of the Traveler's dormancy as a double edged sword as well.
I like that theory, Shadow.
Please do a video about the secret Daito room in the tower and Ana Brays diary found in it.
I think that triangular shadow encroaching over The Traveller during the collapse section of the opening video is a big hint that those ships from the end are indeed aligned with The Darkness ua-cam.com/video/WjZEEouWRVE/v-deo.htmlm45s
Mike Hinshelwood I noticed that too and thought the same!
Demon vs Vader I didn’t even notice that when playing the game but when they’re put so close together it’s striking!
Mike Hinshelwood yes, they are
Mike Hinshelwood THANK YOU, I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO NOTICED GOOD GOD
Mike Hinshelwood THANK YOU!! HOW COME NO ONE HAS NOTICED THIS, LITERALLY FELT LIKE THE ONLY ONE. NOW BUMP IT TO THE TOP
Those are obviously Remnant ships from the Andromeda Galaxy..........
My face, it's the head of our military, it's the head of Andromeda.
Coming back to this after Beyond Light’s release. How far we have come.
