This is my first time selling plans for a project and launching my online shop: mariushornberger.com/products/disassemblable-workbench-plans One of the things that was happening in the background. How do you like this workbench design and concept?
I very much appreciate all the effort you took, both to produce the video and to design and create the compact utilitarian work bench. Not only that but you up cycled some nice materials all while maintaining the subtle but nice style that makes your shop look like you. You are a cleverly forward thinking young man that really knows how to solve material issues quickly and easily. Add all that up and you’ve shown yourself to be quite the artist as well. Hid that mistake or more properly simply made use of the slight of concept such that the err isn’t an eye-catcher, it’s a helper. Impressive. Rule on with your humbleness, Marius.
Using laminate flooring as a drawer bottom was a real eye opener for me. I am starting a project to make 23 drawers and I have a huge stack of old flooring I pulled out of my camping van. I believe they will be perfect. Lightweight and durable :) Thank you sir I really love your problem solving skills!
I had several boxes of unsuse flooring that I was tired of looking at, found quite a few uses for them when you start looking. I'm now out of it, and I'm thinking of buying more just to have on hand. Very useful to be able to crat panels of varying widths with some glue and thought.
I remembered an OLD adage as I viewed your video: "He didn't know he could not do it; So...he went ahead and done it!' Thus, I shall say this: "I know of NO DIY'r that fulfills that "saying" more; than "our" Marius Hornberger. Thank you kind Sir; for what you have shared with us. Absolutely Incredible. Luv Yuz always dear man..
Great improvement upon the ‘corner of shame’. Great plans and worth the $. Need to see more of you Marius, UA-cam not the same without seeing you now and again. All the best.
Marius, this was your best video ever! If you ever think of another career than engineering, video production is certainly something you do exceptionally well.👍👍
I really enjoy all your projects, and your sense of humor. Even though you can't hear it, know that at least one person is laughing at your humor! Thanks!
Dissassembly is good if you cannot fit it in doorways, but if you can, it’s probably easier to move w/o it and just keep all the tools in the drawers as well.
Great honest content I like how you don’t edit out your mistakes and then make fun of yourself. Your bench looks great and your router skills and jig you designed are awesome. Thanks for sharing
The best thing about making your own drawer handles is that all of the drawer handles in your entire shop can match. If you use the same materials and finishes on your shop furniture, all of your furniture creates a matched set. That's not really important, but it is impressive to anyone who looks at your shop and thinks, "Geez, my shop doesn't look that good!"
Marius, I have a nice workshop where I've installed wooden shelves made from scraps of lumber. It's made a big difference in my shop, and the good part is that I only needed to purchase screws for the assembly. That cabinet is a nice idea. I will be building a welding cart from a set of metal drawers from a desk, and the base from a welding cart I purchased used that was cheaper than I could buy the wheels and casters for. I plan to make the top section from angle iron that will attach and cover the opening at the top of the drawers.
Amazing video per usual, I really liked how the open mortise "problem" on top of the legs turned out to be a helpful solution! Another happy accident in woodworking. Cheers! - Ben L.
I built a desk for my daughter's computer to go on, and since I'm in a rental with a very narrow set of stairs, it had to break down just to get it up to her room. Also made the front and back different so that left and right were obvious and I wouldn't assemble them backwards later on.
I, as a full time carpenter, am always incredibly impressed with the fit of your drawer fronts! Making them so tight , flush and the gaps so small would be an absolute no-go to do in your apprenticeship-piece, since its incredibly hard to pull of, usually. Infact, I'm still not quite used to seeing this. I work with these types of drawer slides all the time, but I still have to ask: Doesn't the sag with loaded vs unloaded drawers cause some missalignment sometimes? Again, really impressed and I am a huge fan of the fact that you kept this Style throughout your workshop. Makes everything look so much nicer and uniform! I finally settled on a Style just some weeks ago with my new Workbench. guess I need to rebuild all the previous onces, haha! Cheers from Koblenz -Marco
Eigentlich könntet ihr euch auch auf Deutsch unterhalten, aber für die Community ist es so natürlich informativer :D Über das gleiche Thema habe ich mir auch schon mal, beim Bauen von Schubladen, Gedanken gemacht :D LG
@@MrElBenno i for one am very thankful for the comments being in english, though my german is "almost" passable i do occasionally stumble on a few terms but mostly i get the gist of things with the content, it is okay to read through but i do prefer english to german, on account of the fact that english and danish are a bit closer than danish and german, but just a small part, the thing i mostly break my neck on is always the grammar, i come from northern part of denmark so my access to german television is rather limited thus my absorption of the german language is lacking. All in all i am glad to keep the comments in english, sorry for the long diatribe.
@@MidnightAmratha I was actually only thinking of this comment. Sure, generally its fine that Marius makes his videos in english. But i thought it is funny that 2 germans speak english. But sure for all its better in english! i am with you :D
My opinion. First, I enjoy watching your videos. My introduction to your channel happened when I was interested in the Thien Baffle for Dust Collector. I watched a dozen different UA-cam channels about that subject and subscribed to yours. Second point is that The back ground music could be a little lower volume, it is after all, in the background. Thanks very much. I purchased the work bench plans.
Watch out IKEA...you've got competition!!! 😉. Excellent video Marius! Revised: IKEA is in reference to the clever and efficient design; easy to assemble/disassemble. It was NOT in reference to the final quality of the result. BTW *some* of IKEA's stuff is not bad.
@@mazchen I did not realize the full implication of that snarky comment. I revised my comment to make clear what aspect I was referring to. Thanks for the heads up on my SNAFU!!
Very inspiring, the disassemble functionality is very attractive in it's flexibility. Even though I have a garage and no plans to move, I'm too much of a beginner and know I probably will shuffle the machines and way my work pipeline is setup so having flexible "modules" (Lego?) would be awesome. Have you considered starting the IKEA of Woodworker furniture? 😉
Was excited to see a new video-great editing and very nice workbench design. I felt like the editing of this video was more slightly more face-paced; each segment went a little bit quicker. I don’t know if that was intentional, but I liked it. Nice work!
i like the background music idea. To enhance the experience i would compress the music and the workshop noise if you talk over it via sidechain compression aka ducking. There are many tutorials out there how to do that.
Watching all the fuzz you needed to do to make the dados I truly cannot understand why the EU/EEA banned dado blades. For this reason I have imported a US made contractor saw and a couple of dado stacks to Norway and can happily and safely dado as many dados I need. In fact, from time to time I make a combined bench/fire wood storage box for outdoor use (terrasse) with more or less the same design elements as Marius' bench (though they're not for disassembling). And they sell good.

I love your videos and your dry humour. Just have one question, and please don't take this as criticism. You seem to check for square with a small engineer's square. Wouldn't it be more accurate to measure the two overall diagonals? 💖🤔
Ok, I only knew bugs being declared features from Microsoft where they fucked up each end every time. Now I wish you'd have given them a lecture on how to do it beforehand!
7:22 lmao that's literally exactly what i was doing when my fingers got permanently shortened. remember the saw can disappear the workpiece out from under you for no reason, you don't wanna be shovinb your hand into the blade should that happen...
How deep do go with your router on a first pass or single mortise? Does a top down vs using the table make a difference? Plunging on a table I find a little more tedious.
Hallo Marius. My vote is for no music, I’d rather just watch you work and listen to your explanations. Small complaint but a great video, as all your videos are.
Anybody who wants music, can play their own! Much better.
It's not really music. More like music-like sounds. So annoying!
Music doesn't bother me as long as it is relaxing and the volume is kept low. Anyone who doesn't want music can press his mute button.
The music does not take away from the video. So it doesn't matter.
Definitely doesn’t need the music. Your excellent work, clear explanation and finished article is more than enough.
I've always enjoyed your videos and I really appreciate the effort that went into telling this story. Very enjoyable video, Marius. And a great build.

I love your woodburning of "no scrap, do not burn" - hilarious 😂 9:16
Channelling your inner swedish with the flat pack furniture!😂

That small GSS 18V-10 you put in that drawer was also a gift from one of your subscribers.
