- I'm building a workbench that can be disassembled into smaller pieces, making it easy to take with you when moving. Setting it up again only takes 15 minutes to start the new workshop as soon as possible. You don't need many tools to build it, and I have plans available with written instructions that walk you through the whole build. The plans also come with a configurator, which means you can specify the workbench dimensions exactly to your needs.

This is my first time selling plans for a project and launching my online shop: mariushornberger.com/products/disassemblable-workbench-plans
One of the things that was happening in the background.
How do you like this workbench design and concept?
Love it!
Great shop 😊👍🏼
Can I have links to the tools and fasteners? Especially the screws with big flat head ...
I very much appreciate all the effort you took, both to produce the video and to design and create the compact utilitarian work bench. Not only that but you up cycled some nice materials all while maintaining the subtle but nice style that makes your shop look like you. You are a cleverly forward thinking young man that really knows how to solve material issues quickly and easily. Add all that up and you’ve shown yourself to be quite the artist as well. Hid that mistake or more properly simply made use of the slight of concept such that the err isn’t an eye-catcher, it’s a helper. Impressive. Rule on with your humbleness, Marius.
@@GR31M4NN the screws looked to be Spax HI.FORCE they are available in all kind of length and thickness.
My vote is for no music, I’d rather just watch you work and listen to your explanations. Small complaint but a great video, as all your videos are.
Anybody who wants music, can play their own! Much better.
It's not really music. More like music-like sounds. So annoying!
Music doesn't bother me as long as it is relaxing and the volume is kept low. Anyone who doesn't want music can press his mute button.
The music does not take away from the video. So it doesn't matter.
I've always enjoyed your videos and I really appreciate the effort that went into telling this story. Very enjoyable video, Marius. And a great build.
Definitely doesn’t need the music. Your excellent work, clear explanation and finished article is more than enough.
Can you sell the plans for the "Faster!" button? It seems useful, but how does it work?
Using laminate flooring as a drawer bottom was a real eye opener for me. I am starting a project to make 23 drawers and I have a huge stack of old flooring I pulled out of my camping van. I believe they will be perfect. Lightweight and durable :) Thank you sir I really love your problem solving skills!
I had several boxes of unsuse flooring that I was tired of looking at, found quite a few uses for them when you start looking. I'm now out of it, and I'm thinking of buying more just to have on hand. Very useful to be able to crat panels of varying widths with some glue and thought.
Marius, this was your best video ever! If you ever think of another career than engineering, video production is certainly something you do exceptionally well.👍👍
It sounds like you enjoyed this book a lot. It's awesome ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO that it taught you how to use tools and pick wood for your projects. I think the tips on making lists before cutting wood are super helpful too. You don't want to ruin your wood by cutting it wrong, right? Good job on building your own workbench! That's impressive for a beginner. You must be proud of yourself. blush
"Corner of shame"
Lol. I have a "workshop of shame"
Great honest content I like how you don’t edit out your mistakes and then make fun of yourself. Your bench looks great and your router skills and jig you designed are awesome. Thanks for sharing
corner of shame 😂 ich musste so lachen...... richtig tolles Projekt 👍
I, as a full time carpenter, am always incredibly impressed with the fit of your drawer fronts! Making them so tight , flush and the gaps so small would be an absolute no-go to do in your apprenticeship-piece, since its incredibly hard to pull of, usually.
Infact, I'm still not quite used to seeing this. I work with these types of drawer slides all the time, but I still have to ask: Doesn't the sag with loaded vs unloaded drawers cause some missalignment sometimes?
Again, really impressed and I am a huge fan of the fact that you kept this Style throughout your workshop. Makes everything look so much nicer and uniform! I finally settled on a Style just some weeks ago with my new Workbench. guess I need to rebuild all the previous onces, haha!
Cheers from Koblenz
-Marco
Of all the drawers I made like this, none of them is sagging to the point that they start rubbing against each other.
@@MariusHornberger Thats great to hear! Mounting drawers has to be one of my most hated things to do, haha!
Eigentlich könntet ihr euch auch auf Deutsch unterhalten, aber für die Community ist es so natürlich informativer :D Über das gleiche Thema habe ich mir auch schon mal, beim Bauen von Schubladen, Gedanken gemacht :D LG
@@MrElBenno i for one am very thankful for the comments being in english, though my german is "almost" passable i do occasionally stumble on a few terms but mostly i get the gist of things with the content, it is okay to read through but i do prefer english to german, on account of the fact that english and danish are a bit closer than danish and german, but just a small part, the thing i mostly break my neck on is always the grammar, i come from northern part of denmark so my access to german television is rather limited thus my absorption of the german language is lacking. All in all i am glad to keep the comments in english, sorry for the long diatribe.
@@MidnightAmratha I was actually only thinking of this comment. Sure, generally its fine that Marius makes his videos in english. But i thought it is funny that 2 germans speak english. But sure for all its better in english! i am with you :D
Ok, I only knew bugs being declared features from Microsoft where they fucked up each end every time. Now I wish you'd have given them a lecture on how to do it beforehand!
Marius, as Bob Ross would say "no mistakes, just happy little accidents". Very enjoyable video again!
Welcome back. I've missed your vids, no matter what you make. thks
I have nothing to say really, but I appreciate your content, and wish to help with the yt-algorithms.
Congrats on the online shop and plan sales; and as always, great video!
We all have a workshop corner of shame😔😔😔😔
I just want to be honest, the music was too loud and for me, distracting. Very nice workbench design.
I always look forward to your videos. Please discontinue the music. Your narration is excellent and the music makes it difficult for those of us with poor hearing.
Excellent work!
worthy of Wandel himself!
Great video Marius! Good design too 👍🏻
Which Model is the Bosch Router that you are using please?
Your videos are great, but, please, do not add music to it. It is distracting and doesn't add any value. Imho. Thanks.
The best thing about making your own drawer handles is that all of the drawer handles in your entire shop can match. If you use the same materials and finishes on your shop furniture, all of your furniture creates a matched set.
That's not really important, but it is impressive to anyone who looks at your shop and thinks, "Geez, my shop doesn't look that good!"
Dissassembly is good if you cannot fit it in doorways, but if you can, it’s probably easier to move w/o it and just keep all the tools in the drawers as well.
i like the background music idea.
To enhance the experience i would compress the music and the workshop noise if you talk over it via sidechain compression aka ducking.
There are many tutorials out there how to do that.
I use ducking a lot, however forgot to use it with the music
Not tolerance…just a gap. Tolerance is allowable part variability during manufacturing/assembly process.
Love you videos, been a long time fan :)
Спасибо тебе Мариус, ты заряжаешь позитивной энергией, сразу хочется встать и что то делать !)
Channelling your inner swedish with the flat pack furniture!😂
Love your stuff but no music please.
I love your woodburning of "no scrap, do not burn" - hilarious 😂 9:16
Mal wieder hervorragende Arbeit Marius! :)
No. No 'music', please. Great series.
Great improvement upon the ‘corner of shame’. Great plans and worth the $. Need to see more of you Marius, UA-cam not the same without seeing you now and again. All the best.
I really enjoy all your projects, and your sense of humor.
Even though you can't hear it, know that at least one person is laughing at your humor!
Thanks!
"...Something's wrong."
"Good conclusion you smartass."
Had me laughing so hard
Hey Marius! You have great videos! Filmed with high quality and the work is very well presented. Good luck! 👍
AWESOME Bench !! it very nicely solves a problem that I was facing, so I'll be picking up your plans shortly !!
The outtakes were GREAT!!!
I have no tools and no skills, but love watching you vids. I still learn something from it and every time I’m amazed how your projects turn out.
That small GSS 18V-10 you put in that drawer was also a gift from one of your subscribers.
Really excellent video. Loved the attention to detail with clamping down that crooked rail before gluing in the ply
Another great video Marius .
I love all your vids
Great video again. Always some new and interesting tips and tricks, and excellent workmanship in all aspects. Thanks for sharing!
I love the idea of the Configurator, Marius! Please teach Matthias and John Heisz how to make those.
nice
12:32 that's like saying "You can wipe your ass with anything. Toilet paper, paper towels, a normal towel if you're fine with washing it every time.... but I only had $100 bills on-hand so I just used those."
I enjoy your videos, the issue with the music, is your voice is not louder than your music. My hearing aids amplify the music better than your voice. Please, just lower the volume when you talk.
Marius - Don't use your hands. wrists, and arms as hammers. You will understand this advice later in life when the cumulative neurological damage becomes apparent. Instead use proper tools, your good mind, and the education you worked hard to get.
I love the music personally. Just finding your channel and I wish you had more music videos!
Not square?! Try more clamps! Think “3D” - of course wood is forgiving they say
Has someone built this workbench with his plans? How was it? What size did you configurate and how long did it take you?
I only have a handheld router and a plunge saw but I think it is still possible to make this. Might just take a bit longer.
Sorry, Marius - I normally enjoy your videos but I had to stop watching this one early - because you were talking over the annoying music, which was so distracting that I could not concentrate on what your were saying...
7:22 lmao that's literally exactly what i was doing when my fingers got permanently shortened. remember the saw can disappear the workpiece out from under you for no reason, you don't wanna be shovinb your hand into the blade should that happen...
By the 2:14 mark there is already more effort, humour and special effects than I've put in my entire video library
I need to get me one of those "FASTER!!!!" buttons. My projects take ages.
Leave out the crap music, the ambient sounds of Machinery working is better to hear.
Geat work , may be a bit faster to install and lighter, with aluminum 4040 profiles
Levels!
If music is really necessary, at least lower it to allow the voice-over to stand out.
As usual, though, great video.
wow, that is really good ... you're English is a 2nd language yet you used a word new to me: "disassemblable"
Easy Mario..
I say figure out a smart texture to go with that black on the draw fronts..
☮️
So, you are considering the possibility of moving. Are you going to build your new house a la Lignum?
Don't you think that the "perfect" fit between the drawer fronts could become a problem when the drawers are loaded with heavy stuff?
Please, no 'mood' or any other kind of music. You just made this unwatchable for me.
Wonderful
Hey Marius, Loved the last out take, funny :) TFS, GB :)
Another great video. Could you put up a link to that router bit you used for making drawers?
amzn.to/3655xkt
Enjoyable view! Thank you Marius.
looks nice
All your videos are fun to watch. Well done....
Watch out IKEA...you've got competition!!! 😉. Excellent video Marius! Revised: IKEA is in reference to the clever and efficient design; easy to assemble/disassemble. It was NOT in reference to the final quality of the result. BTW *some* of IKEA's stuff is not bad.
Actually that is an offence to Marius ;-)
@@mazchen I did not realize the full implication of that snarky comment. I revised my comment to make clear what aspect I was referring to. Thanks for the heads up on my SNAFU!!
@@physicsguybrian Cool!
"Bottom and the top... and then everything is straight" 🤔
"i want hardwood"
"we have lumber at home"
*the lumber at home*
It's nice to have background music, but you may wanna adjust the volume whenever you have voice over. It currently seems very cluttered and hard to hear to me :)
German humor is no laughing matter. 😂😂
Very inspiring, the disassemble functionality is very attractive in it's flexibility. Even though I have a garage and no plans to move, I'm too much of a beginner and know I probably will shuffle the machines and way my work pipeline is setup so having flexible "modules" (Lego?) would be awesome.
Have you considered starting the IKEA of Woodworker furniture? 😉
Ich finde es ohne Musik angenehmer, aber falls du es doch nochmal probieren wolltest, dann sollte sie wesentlich leiser sein als in diesem Test, sonst führt sie zu Verständnisschwierigkeiten,
Brilliant! Your command of English very impressive and fluent. Engineers, of course, rule the world 😁 From an engineer who graduated in 1970.
I remembered an OLD adage as I viewed your video: "He didn't know he could not do it; So...he went ahead and done it!' Thus, I shall say this: "I know of NO DIY'r that fulfills that "saying" more; than "our" Marius Hornberger. Thank you kind Sir; for what you have shared with us. Absolutely Incredible. Luv Yuz always dear man..
Marius:
*buys motors for future machines which he doesn't yet know*
Me:
*Buys servers for use cases in the future which I don't know yet*
Feels good not to be alone... ;-)
You remind me of Mattias Wandel.
Watching all the fuzz you needed to do to make the dados I truly cannot understand why the EU/EEA banned dado blades. For this reason I have imported a US made contractor saw and a couple of dado stacks to Norway and can happily and safely dado as many dados I need. In fact, from time to time I make a combined bench/fire wood storage box for outdoor use (terrasse) with more or less the same design elements as Marius' bench (though they're not for disassembling). And they sell good.
My opinion. First, I enjoy watching your videos. My introduction to your channel happened when I was interested in the Thien Baffle for Dust Collector. I watched a dozen different UA-cam channels about that subject and subscribed to yours. Second point is that The back ground music could be a little lower volume, it is after all, in the background. Thanks very much. I purchased the work bench plans.
I was so excited about this idea that when you mentioned "plans are available", I paused so I could purchase the plans.
OK, Now continue watching.
Muito bom.
Very good.
incredibly funny. especially the part where you disparage yourself. thanks.
I love your videos and your dry humour. Just have one question, and please don't take this as criticism. You seem to check for square with a small engineer's square. Wouldn't it be more accurate to measure the two overall diagonals? 💖🤔
I feel like 17:59 - 18:04 would make for a hilarious loop
Marius, I didn't have any trouble with the circular saw, but when I wanted to use the router, my internet shut down. Oops, wrong router. 😀
Now I'm plunging deeper
Sometimes when you clear out an old area you find something that went "PING" into a corner years ago and vanished..
You can build up extra large mortise with wood chips/shavings. You can apply paste wax to any spacers you don't want to glue up.
A nice table, but I can't see anyone make those complicated angled or thin cuts with a hand held circular saw. Too refined for me not owning a table saw, but great project for people with proper tools.
Nice bench but don't think having it disassemble makes much difference in space moving since you have all the drawers to then try to stack and not spill.
Great video, you're really smart and logical. Loved the editing in time with the music, engaging!
Just recently found your videos and I love your style!
Looking forward to going back and catching up on other ones. 🙂
Cheers!
I built a desk for my daughter's computer to go on, and since I'm in a rental with a very narrow set of stairs, it had to break down just to get it up to her room. Also made the front and back different so that left and right were obvious and I wouldn't assemble them backwards later on.
Ngl your pfp looks a lot like ZNA productions' so I clicked so fast thinking he uploaded again 😅
Amazing video per usual, I really liked how the open mortise "problem" on top of the legs turned out to be a helpful solution! Another happy accident in woodworking. Cheers! - Ben L.
sowas typish deutsches... da muss mann kein scham haben aber das ist doch etwas das ich dir nicht so einfach sagen kann.
