    Marius Hornberger,i just saw 2 of the videos posted and they are great,you are a engineer on this.I am retired and i used to made kitchen cabinets for private housing and projects,i have made over 1k projects in 20 yrs. plus after i got out of military service,i was in aviation working on CH-47 helicopters,start in military bases shops has a hobby and made a living of wood working,your jigs are outstanding and the knowledge you have is marvelows ,i keep watching the videos.You are great craftsman and your work outstanding and innovating.I do understand everything you are doing,but you are a genius.Believe me thanks for the videos.i am 65 yrs.

    What a terrific project and finished piece. I am always impressed with the quality of your workmanship.
    On another note, you obviously live at home with your mom and dad. I think it is awesome how they support your creativeness. What a treasure to grow up in such an environment.

    One of my favorite DIY channels, maybe my favorite. 3:22 that gorgeous wood being a workbench... seeing the figure would make some amazing panels for furniture, or a guitar.

    Quite obvious you are a very talented individual. I enjoy your quality of work. I'm not sure how you learned what you know at such a young age but your parents must be extremely proud of their son. Great work and keep those projects and videos coming because all who visit your site really enjoy them.....

    this is one of the if not the best tool stands i have ever seen made from wood it looks as if it will last till you get tired of it and re-invent a better or different design you do great work

    Hi Marius - thank you for your enjoyable videos.
    May I suggest...
    i) fitting a 25mm high watertight tray under the lathe - the full size of the top of the bench.
    ii) add a Formica covered, vertical backboard behind the lathe. The work in the chuck will be splashing coolant/cutting lubricant onto your wall.
    iii) the top of the backboard to have a shelf so that you can place "in use" tools, clipboard with sketches, micrometers etc. conveniently out from the mess that collects on the tray under the lathe during use.
    iv) fit two adjustable lamps underneath the shelf to throw light exactly where you need when are working.
    v) bring your electrics down from the top and place your switches on the l.h. side of the shelf - so that when things misbehave you are automatically pulled out of line of the chuck. (don't ask!)

    Love the "click" sound when you squeeze the pieces together during dryfit. Looks like a peeerfect fit. No wonder that it is square, with that precision of woodworking. Looks veeeery solid Marius! Amazing work, and very good video. Inspiring.

    Marius. ..im pretty sure where the glue didn't squeeze out will be strong and hold...I've been a Cabinet maker for almost 30 years...I started young when I was 21 and now I own a shop with 5 employees....and we stay busy everyday. I love to watch you design and build...you are an awesome carpenter/ cabinet maker!!!! and you do a great job filming and editing....keep up the good work!!!!!!.and hello from Dallas Texas.

    I was going to say you can buy steel adjustable feet of Ebay for commercial kitchen equipment. But then I saw what you made and thought nah, yours are much nicer ! Excellent work, my friend. That bench will last for ever. Also, impressed by your glue up and resaw to make four components out of seven pieces.

      Weight issues would arise from that I'd expect. that's why the ones he could buy were so expensive.

    Klasse Projekt. Es macht regelrecht Freude zu sehen, wie du mit deinen Aufgaben wächst. Ich bin seit dreißig Jahren im Beruf als Tischler und ich finde es super, wie genau du arbeitest. Darauf darfst du zu recht stolz sein. Daumen hoch - mach weiter so.

    yay!! finally a metal lathe!! that will change forever your workshop you can build anything now i have a old german made joinville from 1970 a small but robbust and heavy (370kg) lathe it needs a sturdy bench a made one with 10cm wood top and metal reinforcing its a must for precision! greetings from brazil

    You're going to look at all of your tools in a new light now with a metal lathe. My son and I just bought one and now we're making all kinds of tools with it to use as jigs and parts to improve our tools. Beautiful stand btw, I'd love to have the time to build one like it. Well done Marius!

I like to work with wood but unfortunately here in Brazil the equipment for hobby in residence are very scarce and the little that is found are very expensive, I envy your country for the variety of equipment and tools of the branch that offers.     A very nice job but one small extra a ice hockey puck glued to each foot you would have anti-vibration mounts

      indeed. and if you ever would mop the floor, rubber feet don't attract the water :-). my hole shop stand on rubbers, just for that reason hehe.

    Dude!, that is a seriously gorgeous cabinet! It should be in the living room not as a stand for a metal lathe. You are talented for sure. When I build a cart for my metal lathe I made it out of plain old 2x4's and plywood in about 6 hours but for holding my lathe it works just fine.

    Very nice. I was taught to leave the thickness of the tenon at the end of a mortise to minimize break out... but that's from an old school joiner :)

    Big glue ups always are stressful especially during the hot part of the summer when the glue kicks off so quickly. I imagine if I had this equipment the added Precision would be helpful.

    Happy to see you featured the wavy wood grain on either side of the drawer faces. Would've lived to see you feature it further with a different finish that vrought the grain out further

    Awesome lathe table! You have inspired me to build a workbench modeled after your lathe table. I really like the adjustable feet for the table. I would add a set of wheels(nice set of casters), yet keeping the feet.

    Nice bench! Don't forget to level your lathe correctly. This is vital for proper results (straight and parallel!).
    Now the fun begins!
    Oh BTW: don't forget to keep it all clean to avoid taking metal chips into the house or cross-contaminating wood. That too can be a serious issue!
