Ok, but to be entirely fair to Stanley, if someone’s having to resort to glockpicking the thing, it’s effectively done its job.
i guess if it serves as a deterrent for the average thief than sure, it works. the problem is people who take the time to buy this $40 tool
also its for a motorcycle right? so a 40$ tool like that able to steal a 5-30k vehicle is not acceptable for a lock honestly
@@XxMonsterOpsxX the price of the vehicle is irrelevant. the price of the lock is what's important. yeah a 400 dollar lock being bypassed by a 40 dollar tool is a bad lock. but tell me this, how many people do you think are actually paying decent money for a good lock?

its a construction tool. drives harden nails using gun powder cartridges

Agreed
Well I feel the channel is just to prove that most locks are not as safe as advertised , but most locks are to keep the honest people out and delay the stealing attempts, also take in consideration LPL is just an expert and most regular thiefs will probably take way more time picking most of the locks probably
Locks don't hold what they need to hold, they have key or come through the wall, locks are useless to be honest...
Every lock is better than no lock
If you have regular house windows there's not much point. Dog + video surveillance.

Exactly😄
.50 bmg
And loudest
Now try again without the lock braced on a concrete floor.
Imagine it's swinging freely on a chain around the frame of a valuable motorcycle that you plan to sell after you've stolen it.
It's an important tactic in locking a motorcycle: Ensure the lock is not near the ground or any other solid object that will aid in its destruction.
Lots of comments here concerned that the nail could deflect off the round part of the lock and hit his foot. That danger is so high that I'd never attempt to do it like that. But... neither did he! Watch again. He put in the power load, but does NOT insert a nail. He just dry-fires it so the plunger/striker hits the lock but is fully contained and attached inside the tool. Although you should NOT use the tool like this, the risk factor from this shot is actually almost non existent.
Hey your right! I'm suprized he didn't mention that. Maybe he just hopes that if any stupid thieves tried this they'd keep the nail in and impale a toe or two.
@@no-new-friends7881 well some thieves are like that. Theres these two kids in my neighborhood that go around stealing stuff. Everyone knows who they are, we just dont have enough evidence to have them charged. They're the kind of people that dont know left from right. Its ridiculous how stupid people can be.
ALL OF YOU INCLUDING COMMENTORS!! Unless I am mistaken, there was no nail used. He simply fired the piston (which is part of the gun and does not leave the gun) into the lock, so there was no nail or projectile coming out of the gun to deflect. You would have seen it if he did.
@@ariip Well done for repeating what Gumboot Zone said 2 months ago, in this very thread. Awesome work.
Good thing the lock did not spilt or he'd be looking for a toe or 2. Don't try this a home kids!

If you are a motorcycle thief - move on, nothing to see here, find another channel.
Shahar C lol
Why? Has the motorcycle industry not been told about chipped keys?
Flavor Enhanced chipped keys are super easy to fool. Just need a few things i refuse to mention and you can get past them. Learned how to do it working for canadian tire when people lost there keys and still needed the vehical to move.
then the people building the chipped key are incompetent, encryption can be as good as you make it, there is no reason why the electronic parts should be any easier to crack than say, digital weapon control, literally no technical issues in making it that secure, no reason to do so either but that is another matter.
i wasn't joking im pretty sure informing how to get past chip keys would make me comparable should you then use that knowledge to steal something according to the laws here.
but if you were trying to defeat any IRF transponder you only need two chips from a credit card rotate them over each other well you activate the irf single and the return field made by the credit card chips well eventually make the same signal the irf is looking for and activate, i am not saying that's how we did it i am saying that a way to defeat any IRF transponder.
HOWEVER, lockpickinglawer always uses the attack of least difficulty so i think you've got a pretty damn good lock if LPL is using an expensive, powerful, uncommon tool to unlock it
You can get one for $40, a lot cheaper than a new bike.
Expensive? Lol
@@Bmr4life Maybe he's 5. When I was 5 everything was expensive to me too.
is that a joke comment for anyone interested in boosting your motorcycle... the cost of a round for the ramset is pennies... prob free, you could rent one not buy it & you could borrow it from work at any construction site... it's not expensive relative to a FREE new motorcycle & its not uncommon... as far as powerful well that's the point
Ramsets are everywhere and a dime a dozen
The most impressive part about this video, is LPL's insane knowledge of where to hit any lock precisely where it hurts the most. The Lock whisperer should be his real name.
This channel is pure comedy. Best part is that savvy manufacturers are upping their game because of him. This is, the ones that desire to put into production something that is world class.
I'm going to start using zip ties.
They're a lot cheaper than locks!
I'm sorry you missed out on the real locks he reviewed... Don't worry, it's not your fault. It's society always wanting and pushing for quick and funny jokes.
Movie2Documentary woooosh
I think your comment is a joke but if it is serious you can buy a really cheap "lock" it's essentially just a zip tie with a handcuff key. Put like 50 of them on your bike and no one is going to steal that because well it's essentially 50 slightly reinforced zip ties on a bike you're not going to cut through that in a couple seconds which if you're trying to steal something is what you're probably going to have to do if it is a unguarded bike in a area with a whole bunch of different people in it because someone's going to call the cops if they see someone just cutting bright red zip ties on a bike
Not if you figure in the cost of what gets stolen.
@@USS_ESSEX_CV-9 and how long would that take to get off the bike?
Reminds me of a fellow who secured his bike to a barn rafter, then went on a getaway weekend. Yep floating 6 feet off the floor, chained and paddocks. When he returned from his weekend the bike was gone, the chains and locks still attached to the huge beam ...a thief with a cruel sense of humor.
I don't know if I'll ever feel safe about locking anything up ever again !! Thank you very much for filling my life with more anxiety.
Also. You have to have tried this before filming! You're hypothesis' of every lock and what you think will occur is on point!

I was thinking the same thing.....Don't they though?
@DikoMan At one point he said he /is/ really a lawyer
You can see his face in gallium video
@DikoMan I believe he's actually stated that he's a lawyers in an interview
So he can never buy other shoes? Unless he starts chain smoking ...
There's an Australian saying: "you don't need to swim faster than the shark, just faster than the British backpacker next to you" I think the same concept applies to locks- you can't stop a determined thief, but you can get him to pick another target
Well stated and kinda hilarious

What I've learned from this channel: Locks = no locks.
Niros Locks only stop honest people
@@rivertam711 Not quite. Rule of thumb is: You don't need an unpickable lock. You just need a lock that is more work to pick than the one next to it :P
Physical security is an illusion that fools everyone. The key is to make an effective enough illusion that people will just target their efforts elsewhere.
Locks are not to protect your bike from theft, but to make thieves choose a more easier victim than you.
That's a good deduction. The whole point of the body of work is that passive security only lasts so long regardless of it's complexity. Active monitoring is the only real security.
I really flinched when I saw you holding the lock with your feet and firing the ramset so close. Many years ago, I was holding a piece of crown molding in a place that I thought would be safe while using a brad nailer to attach it to another piece of moulding at an outside corner. The brad hit a hard spot in the wood and proceed to go into the bottom of my thumb and stick itself into the bone. I had to pull my thumb off of the brad which was also in the wood. Didn't go to the doctor over it, but learned a lesson. Metal objects fired into other stuff can often turn and get you.
Nope, no way this is gonna work. Never, not in a million years... Holy shit, it worked? I need a ramset gun.
Pretty much my thoughts too!
An actual .22lr rifle is much cheaper
Shooting an actual bullet at a lock is dangerous and much more noisy. There is a slight chance the bullet could ricochet into you.

That 'K' on the chain in the beginning looks like a Stormtrooper.
story time: when i was little i asked my dad what that tool was for. he gladly wanted to show me how it works and set it off pointed at the concrete driveway but not flat against it. a fragment of the cartage bounced off the driveway into a major artery in his leg. it then bounced off the bone and through the artery a second time and made it back to the surface of the skin. he actually brushed the fragment out before attempting to stop the garden hose of blood that was now spewing from his leg. a not effective tourniquet made from a bungy cord later.. by the time the ambulance was there he was passing out barely awake from the adrenaline. I guess they were able to stop the bleeding for the most part in the ambulance and save his life. emergency surgery at the hospital. guy went to work the next day. I remember the scene well and my driveway looked like someone dumped a 5 gallon bucket of blood all over it. these tools can really hurt you so be careful with them.
Thanks for the safety message. I’m glad he made it. From the story, I suspect he was using a high velocity nail gun... totally different from what I have. They haven’t made them in a long time. 👍
it was a fragment of the rim fire cartridge. they were practically identical to .22 blanks with the end of them crimped closed twords the front. I believe a section of the crimped end was work hardened and flew off. i am not sure what the style is called. but the apparatus for firing them was still very similar to what you used.
on those tools the outer steel "barrel" is meant to block any debris that will be created during operation and protect the user. a cruved metal surface that is not rigidly held in place would possibly create a similar safy situation. im aware its a one in a million senerio that happend but its something to be aware of and respect when you use tools like it.
