@@ivank7492 that's untrue. When I was 18 I tried to get sterilized but the Dr. laughed and said it wasn't for me just because according to her I supposedly didn't know what I wanted. I gave birth to my son at age 20 and I asked for a sterilization after giving birth to my son but the Dr. down right refused me. I was trying to get sterilized before I married but I had been turned away because I wasn't married. Now that I am married and 28 years old with only one child a Dr. finally took me seriously my sterilization is on May 16th. Of this year.

If you're are an advocate for pro-choice, you have to be for both parties. If the mother has the right to choose on whether to have the baby, the father should have the right to choose on whether to support the baby. I personally think both parties are just as responsible and accountable as each other, they have an obligation. However, if you believe that one of them should have the right to dispose of that obligation and responsibility, the other party should have that right too.
FYI dependent upon your individual states laws, the father of the child could give up his rights to the child, no child support or involvement is required from then on.
I'm most places abortion requires both the parents consent so this comment is kind of pointless? and there are loads of places that allow father's to give up rights to the child anyway some of those places are lobbying to make abortion illegal though

MovieManiac33 I totally see where you’re coming from, and I get how a fetus is also a life, but I think a woman/couple should be able to look at their state in life, their financial and emotional stability, and decide for themselves is they wants to have the responsibility of taking care of a human life. And I believe that people who are pro choice believe in this not because they don’t value the life of the baby, but because they value the life of the baby and the parent(s). Mastering financial responsibility before procreating is more ethical and successful than after procreating. It could even be said that being financially unprepared to procreate and procreating regardless is irresponsible and unethical, especially in today’s first world societies.

I continue to be confused by all these videos discussing how "reproductive rights" are under attack. Last I checked every woman in the US has the right to reproduce. There are zero laws restricting any female from conceiving and delivering a child.

I applaud her ambition, however, from my experiences talking to pro-lifer's, the vast majority of them are religious and believe in a soul and that the soul is connected to the zygote at time of fertilization. As such, their belief (or at least the beliefs they choose to defend that belief with) contain two unprovable assertions: 1) the existence of a soul; 2) the point at which the soul is connected to the zygote/embryo/fetus. Of course, these religious beliefs are part of why the Establishment clause exists, and that prevents those reasons from being used to make laws enshrining the pro-life stance. So, other people defend those defences with recourse to the useful bits of science that can be deployed to make the case (such as the fact of unique DNA and the biological definition of life). This all ignores the fact that religious positions on when the soul enters the body have frequently changed over time. The denominations that most fervently vote pro-life now barely voted at all before 1979 and were ambivalent about abortion. this is an amazing talk. Something seems a little off about these statistics though... i've done a lot of research on this and I don't think these statistics are accounting for population growth. So they may be the highest numbers seen in human history but it very well may be the lowest percentage in human history. I find it hard to believe as medicine exponentially grows better that women are dying from childbirth more than they have in human history. That just doesn't make logical sense to me. It's just plain untrue to claim that we've gone as far back as 1800s with this topic. absolutely not true.
Their is also people that can’t conceive a child, as to set up adoption centers for anyone even to seek alternatives besides abortion to give up their children to couples that can’t have a child.
And there are millions of older children in foster care who desperately need loving homes. But people don't want to deal with their trauma. They just want to take the easy way out and get a perfect little baby that isn't broken.

Prenatal care and child delivery are expensive, and it’s cruel and unsympathetic to ask a woman to carry this thing for 9 months but to not get too attached and just hope that the child will go to a family that will love them rather just get bounced around an underfunded foster care system. When a child is conceived, their cells contain the combine DNA of the mother and Father which means they have different DNA from both the mother and father. Having distinct DNA means that a developing fetus is biologically a separate human being from the mother and father. Killing a fetus still inside the womb is just killing a human being during the first stage of its life.

If you're are an advocate for pro-choice, you have to be for both parties. If the mother has the right to choose on whether to have the baby, the father should have the right to choose on whether to support the baby. I personally think both parties are just as responsible and accountable as each other, they have an obligation. However, if you believe that one of them should have the right to dispose of that obligation and responsibility, the other party should have that right too.
FYI dependent upon your individual states laws, the father of the child could give up his rights to the child, no child support or involvement is required from then on.

MovieManiac33 I totally see where you’re coming from, and I get how a fetus is also a life, but I think a woman/couple should be able to look at their state in life, their financial and emotional stability, and decide for themselves is they wants to have the responsibility of taking care of a human life. And I believe that people who are pro choice believe in this not because they don’t value the life of the baby, but because they value the life of the baby and the parent(s). It would be much more cruel for the child to starve to death or get ill along with the mother or father than for the mother to get an abortion and decide when she is ready to become a parent.

So many people who are claiming this speaker said nothing in so many words miss the nuance. She's clearly tiptoeing on eggshells around the pro-life fervor. In essence, she could not be so bold as to say abortion is a useful social tool, as that would enrage folk who believe it to be murder. She had to point out issues that abortion addresses without specifying that it is abortion which addresses those issues. She's trying to build a coalition between pro-choice and pro-life. I’m sorry but- most fetuses die before even a few weeks due to the body rejecting it, a woman also can choose to take just a pill for the baby to be aborted which most of the time just lets the body reabsorb the nutrients from the dead cells of the “child”. But also if the fetus was malformed and would have life threatening defects would you still force the mother/family to endure the heartache of months of trauma and surgical procedures for one child? I don’t have an opinion about when, exactly, an egg, an embryo or a fetus becomes “a person”. I applaud her ambition, however, from my experiences talking to pro-lifer's, the vast majority of them are religious and believe in a soul and that the soul is connected to the zygote at time of fertilization. As such, their belief (or at least the beliefs they choose to defend that belief with) contain two unprovable assertions:
1) the existence of a soul;
2) the point at which the soul is connected to the zygote/embryo/fetus.
Of course, these religious beliefs are part of why the Establishment clause exists, and that prevents those reasons from being used to make laws enshrining the pro-life stance. So, other people defend those defences with recourse to the useful bits of science that can be deployed to make the case (such as the fact of unique DNA and the biological definition of life). This all ignores the fact that religious positions on when the soul enters the body have frequently changed over time.
The denominations that most fervently vote pro-life now barely voted at all before 1979 and were ambivalent about abortion. They were motivated to vote for Reagan by Jerry Falwell, who also encouraged Reagan to adopt a pro-life stance, and most of this was orchestrated by Republican strategist Paul Weyrich. This means that whilst the professed views are religious, and thus protected, the religious have allowed their views to be altered by politicians, which seems more than a little contrary to the intent of those religions (especially for those whose Biblical views on abortion come from a place of the claimed infallibility and inerrancy of the Bible).

this is an amazing talk. Something seems a little off about these statistics though... i've done a lot of research on this and I don't think these statistics are accounting for population growth. So they may be the highest numbers seen in human history but it very well may be the lowest percentage in human history. I find it hard to believe as medicine exponentially grows better that women are dying from childbirth more than they have in human history. That just doesn't make logical sense to me.

Prenatal care and child delivery are expensive, and it’s cruel and unsympathetic to ask a woman to carry this thing for 9 months but to not get too attached and just hope that the child will go to a family that will love them rather just get bounced around an underfunded foster care system. No one has any right to your body with out your consent. If I needed your body for me to survive, you would have every right to deny me from using your body. That’s called bodily autonomy.
What's wrong with that? Why would a "human life" have any intrinsic value? The valuable thing is consciousness and unborn babies don't have that.

The point is that abortion shouldn't be an issue we look at in isolation. It's rooted in other social issues and simplifying it to two sides makes what each side is trying to achieve harder.

There is hard evidence for her story, plus corroborating testimony from women all over, at different ages and from this year going back to 1973. Are all these girls lying! How could you think that. If you are thinking about aborting your baby just know that it is murder in the eyes of the Lord. You should use an alternative like putting your baby up for adoption. There are many people who need children and will take care of your unwanted baby.

If the baby came out of the womb and the mother or doctor stabbed the baby they would go to jail for murder. In the womb when the doctor does this its a choice?
When should convinience ever be more important that another persons life? Its like... oh I dont have enough time to deliver a live baby and give it up for adoption, so I will just poison a baby that can feel pain and has a developed enough brain to enjoy music because "its my body so I can kill it if I dont want it." Would you agree with abortion if you were going to be murdered by your mother?

Also you act as though giving a baby up for adoption is somehow a fix it all solution. What if that child never gets adopted? There have been psychological studies conducted showing that the emotional and mental development of children in the system is stunted compared to those that grow up with a family.
In my opinion, you should think of the quality of life the child will have when they're born. Why set them up for a life of suffering?

When a child is conceived, their cells contain the combine DNA of the mother and Father which means they have different DNA from both the mother and father. Having distinct DNA means that a developing fetus is biologically a separate human being from the mother and father. Killing a fetus still inside the womb is just killing a human being during the first stage of its life.
don’t pick “a side”, just realize that life is really important, pro choice people can’t deny that the clump of cells will eventually be a person like you or me, but on the same note pro life people should value freedom and understand the situations of people wishing to get an abortion.

jojo One side being “better” than the other does depend on your own stance on the issue. Pro-lifers believe that since you’re alive, you automatically have a leaning towards the protection of life. However, sometimes that leaning can turn towards selfishness, sometimes that leaning can turn selflessness.
