One of my favorites. Even though I was well into my 20s, had served 6 years in the USAF, and had been out for 2 years, I absolutely had to have one when I saw the commercial. It belongs to my son now.
I am looking forward to this. This was my last toy purchase in the vintage era and it was an odd one - I had picked up a couple ‘93 figures then - nothing. But at some point I figured out the line had been canceled in late 1995 and I realized a local toy store still had some stray Joe stuff left. My friends and I had a last gasp of nostalgia for G. I. Joe - nabbed some of them (with this being my pick) and had our final backyard/basement battles with Joe toys ranging from 82-94 (literally). So as a child - my first Joe toy was ‘86 Hawk - this was my last that I didn’t view as a “collectible” - but as a legitimate toy.
Wow, I had no idea about all the features this thing had. I think I'd have preferred it as a singlel seater and without that handle underneath, but it's still a much neater toy than I had given it credit for.
Thanks for this review. One of the gems from the 90s Joe vehicles. I customized it and used it in the GI Joburg playmotion vireo ‘Barging In’. Such fun to play with 😎😀
Great review, good to see you get back into your inner child. The opening reminded me of the movie UHF doing Rambo and he uses the chopper to attack everything. At the end I was kind of disappointed that you didn't scream "Chappieeee!" to reference 'Iron Eagle', another 80's iconic movie. Even with the gizmos, this was a great last ha rah for GI Joe. Thank you for sharing.
Arse. You may have lost your mind, kinda used the force, and definately gained a subscriber. Greatest intro yet! Thank you for your consistently solid reviews and content.
'I guess this one is a boy'. Another superb entry in The Great Book Of HCC Quotes. Other personal favourites include 'So what I'm saying is: you can't touch this', and 'Don't Google Airtight!'.
One of the first things I bought when I got back into collecting Joes about a year ago, never had it back in the day and I’m looking forward to the review!
Great review, this toy makes up big time for the apache helicopter, it's great a vehicle came with a figure that was rare for the 90s, and a bonus it holds 2 figures, too bad I didn't get this at the time, I think I was too busy with my TNMT collection, exo squad and then x-men toys and yes power rangers toys as well, hey it was the 90s, oh yeah I even had the star trek toys as well the figures and micro starships, those were the days, before video games, before social media, a time we had our toys and imagination, then on Sent on our own adventures, good times.
Objectively speaking, this is the best vintage version of Ace. But I still have an affinity for v1 Michelin Man just because he was the one I had as a kid. I'm more impressed with the Ghost Striker than I expected to be. Certainly has a few issues, but it may have just qualified for me as the best vehicle of '93.
Some of the electronics and play features on the Ghoststriker remind me a bit of the Thunderwing from the Valor vs Venom line in 2004 which was based on the F-22 Raptor and I still think is one of the better "modern" G.I. Joe scaled jets.
Awesome Joe Jet WOW IT CAN FLY AT MACH 10 😂, I stopped with GI JOE in 89 so I never knew of the existence of this jet until years later when I started collecting again. Also this is easily the best version of Ace great sculpting awesome green he looks really good.
Great intro 😄 I think it's a surprisingly worthy successor to the Skystriker (and Ace), even the electronics aren't too bad. I was out of Joe by 93 so i totally missed out on it, so i tried to make up for it by using it in my Kindle Worlds Joe story. Still wish i had one.
This is an amazing piece. I had one years before, but sadly had sold mine. It was rather new in the box, but the light wasn't able to work. If I had known there were replacement bulbs availlable from a hardware store or dollar store I would have repaired the light system. Still an amazing piece.
Being a late '80s baby my GI Joe experience was the tail end of the original line. This was one of my favorite new vehicles. It sat proudly next to my X-30 Conquest. which I bought used as the '90s rolled on and my desire to own more GI Joe figures grew as they disappeared from store shelves. I got sick of the jet sounds whenever the handle was down, so I removed the AA batteries and left it that way hahha.
Funny thing too is that the seats are in the correct angle for the F-16. And Ironically this toy was released the same year my dad retired from the Air Force and he was with the 1st Fighter Wing out of Langley AFB He retired in 1993.
It is always interesting to see the toys that came out after I stopped collecting. Honestly this toy is one I would have bought had I still been into GI Joe at this time, but in 93 I was already in High School and I would have been playing video games not collecting GI Joe.
Hasbro made an F22 Raptor in the early 2000s that I bought for my stepson. It fired rockets from a rotary magazine. I liked it so much that I bought one for my collection. He ended up with both of them. :)
"I WANT SOME BUTTS!" Low-key most quotable line from Top Gun. Runner up is, "If you screw this up, I'll have you flying cargo planes full of rubber dog shit out of Hong Kong"
I was checking your review and looks like you have a variant in the tail fin. Yours slides in and all others I have seen have a clip and slide feature. Great review, salutations from Mexico.
If the Ghoststiker only came out when I was still in my GI Joe phase as a kid my Mom would have hated it. Also, I cant think of Ace, without his dark hair appearance.
it reminds me of the live action movie version of the cobra night raven it has ligths and sound features, but nothing beats the vintage line, and good in dept review and keep it up
Nice look at the Ghost Striker, HCC. Actually when you compared the GH & SS it immediately made me think of in Top Gun the Tomcats vs the Falcon fighters used in training Joker & Viper flew. I wonder if a customizer could combine the two into one.
Why was I not aware of this jet? This is an excellent toy, especially for the 90s! Also, this version of Ace joins a very select few where the first figure is not my favourite. The only others I can think of are Snake Eyes, Hawk, Cobra Commander and Wet-Suit.
I had this jet i bought it used it had all the jet pieces and ace pilot my nephew played with it abs it got destroyed i still have Ace somewhere it's the only thing i have from my childhood toys
Did they use a different type of plastic for the head of v3 than v2? It is the same mould but the details on v3 look much "softer" to me. It may just be how it looks on the tv but reminds me more of the Buck Rogers and A-Team figures from 70s and 80s.
It is really true. 91 on out for a very select number of figures and 92 onward for vehicles were a grotesque amalgamation of IP insanity. IMO it doesn't look like a decent jet, it looks super cartoonish, like it belonged to a cheap toy line, it felt cheap like the liquidator and storm eagle, as with the other gaudy weirdness. It was when Joe literally became a new toyline. Just like Command and conquer turning into Tiberium Sun onward with just more and more goofy hi tech crazy.
Being from Providence Rhode Island, and growing up just a few miles from Hasbro, I'm offended that at some point they made Ace from Seattle. I never knew this
This and the badger were the only gi joe vehicles i ever had....except for the cobra vehicle that looks like a stick with a big missle on the back of it
This toy appeared well after my time, but I doubt I would have been interested in it. It just looks drab and a bit cheap, like those plastic dollar-store toys. Ace looks good, though. Thanks for the great review!
Something they got sort of right on the tail marking. The "93" would be correct, assuming the aircraft were brand-new, out of the factory in 1993. The other markings are a jumble. the "708" should be the serial production of that model, so assuming F-16 heritage might actually be too low. The two letter "GS" should refer to the Wing to which the plane is assigned. If it is truly seconded from the First Fighter Wing, that should be FF and not GS. However, the First Fighter wing never operated the F-16, being an F-15 wing at the time, later transitioning to the F-22. Given Ace's fighter aggressor background, the plane would likely be seconded out of the 57th Wing, (which, among other units, homes the Aggressor Squadrons at Red Flag and the Thunderbirds demonstration team. It thus should have the designator WA.
If not for the neon-colored pieces and the electronics gimmick, I'd say this Ghostsriker would have ranked just below the Skystriker among the Joes' fighter aircrafts; and indeed this version of Ace looks more like a fighter pilot than a test pilot for experimental aircraft (v1).
Hey HCC, the SKYSTRIKER has 6 missiles. In your video at 20.46 you said the GHOSTSTRIKER has more missiles than the SKYSTRIKER. Both jets have 6 missiles each. Take care KOBRA KOMMANDER Regards DESTRO!
Ok I think HCC has had a lot of free time! Still I think this plane was the last realistic toy from the GIjoe run I wonder if HCC uses his incomplete example to drive his wife crazy?
Kinda weird because my play-time had G.I. Joe-Star Wars mash-ups all the time, the intro wasn't that odd a concept to me (edit; I think Mach 10 = about 7.5k MPH) (edit #2; Not qualified for the X-30? odd)
Sky-striker is way better in my opinion. I don’t really care for the shooting missile,s especially with those colors. Not a fan of the handle either. I like there original concept although some of the early 90,s figures were awesome. Especially the vipers.
I really wish they had released these at the same scale of the Skystriker, The scaling down and moving away from realistic military is what caused me to lose interest in them.
Sky-Striker by a million miles...90's Joes were the brand killer. Who was the assassin that came out with those brand-killer, horrible designs???..🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
One of my favorites. Even though I was well into my 20s, had served 6 years in the USAF, and had been out for 2 years, I absolutely had to have one when I saw the commercial. It belongs to my son now.

This was decidedly one of the better contributions Battlecorps made to GI Joe. I dare say, the best.
Thank you so much! That opening skit was inspired and really the laugh that made the day for me.
Wow, I had no idea about all the features this thing had. I think I'd have preferred it as a singlel seater and without that handle underneath, but it's still a much neater toy than I had given it credit for.
I enjoy the Commander's videos, but that opening skit had me in stitches. Thanks HCC788, I have not laughed that hard in a long time.
That intro was one of your best, and strangest.
Thanks for this review. One of the gems from the 90s Joe vehicles. I customized it and used it in the GI Joburg playmotion vireo ‘Barging In’. Such fun to play with 😎😀

'I guess this one is a boy'. Another superb entry in The Great Book Of HCC Quotes. Other personal favourites include 'So what I'm saying is: you can't touch this', and 'Don't Google Airtight!'.
It’s amazing that they managed to make a fairly realistic-looking fighter jet with play gimmicks that don’t take away from it whatsoever.
You had a thumbs up just with the opening. Great job🤟🏻
One of the first things I bought when I got back into collecting Joes about a year ago, never had it back in the day and I’m looking forward to the review!

You are having a lot of fun in this video
Objectively speaking, this is the best vintage version of Ace. But I still have an affinity for v1 Michelin Man just because he was the one I had as a kid.
I'm more impressed with the Ghost Striker than I expected to be. Certainly has a few issues, but it may have just qualified for me as the best vehicle of '93.
I had Ace and SkyStriker in the 80's as well.
I am super excited for this one! I have three of these beauties! An amazing G.I. Joe vehicle.
I hope that Hoodie plays the intro to Iron Eagle in this video. Or maybe Old Enough to Rock n Roll. That would be awesome!
But have you taken the... Road of the Gypsy?
@@liftbotful Thought you would have said Highway to the Danger Zone.
I always love your reviews and at times it makes me want to buy this vehicle and I love this version of Ace
Some of the electronics and play features on the Ghoststriker remind me a bit of the Thunderwing from the Valor vs Venom line in 2004 which was based on the F-22 Raptor and I still think is one of the better "modern" G.I. Joe scaled jets.
Yes that’s one awesome vehicle got this and a random trade when I got back in to G I Joe. Had to do some research and find out what it was. Awesome
Blues brother reference! Got to love it!
Awesome Joe Jet WOW IT CAN FLY AT MACH 10 😂, I stopped with GI JOE in 89 so I never knew of the existence of this jet until years later when I started collecting again. Also this is easily the best version of Ace great sculpting awesome green he looks really good.

I laughed at cracking the Cobra bot.
This is an amazing piece. I had one years before, but sadly had sold mine. It was rather new in the box, but the light wasn't able to work. If I had known there were replacement bulbs availlable from a hardware store or dollar store I would have repaired the light system.
Still an amazing piece.
I just brought mine out for my son to play with. Cool to learn the hsitory
One of the last great vintage 1990s vehicles.
Indeed, it is. Plus it comes with an really great action figure of Ace as well.
Also I liked this version of Ace WAY better than the one I had that came with the Battle Copter.

With your beard and the sun glasses you look like Wild Bill. 😝
Yeah. STEVE BUSCEMI playing WILD BILL! HCC kinda looks and sounds like STEVE BUSCEMI!!!
I really enjoyed this video, makes me want to add this one to my little colection
Hasbro made an F22 Raptor in the early 2000s that I bought for my stepson. It fired rockets from a rotary magazine. I liked it so much that I bought one for my collection. He ended up with both of them. :)
There was a Cobra plane with the pistol grip I believe.
"I WANT SOME BUTTS!"
Low-key most quotable line from Top Gun. Runner up is, "If you screw this up, I'll have you flying cargo planes full of rubber dog shit out of Hong Kong"
Love the Ideal commercial. Careful there kid; That "enemy plane" might be a jet airlines. You might poke an eye out with that thing! Great stuff! LOL
After that intro, someone needs to make a Star Wars X-Wing fighter with GI Joe stickers and send it to you to review... ;)
it reminds me of the live action movie version of the cobra night raven it has ligths and sound features, but nothing beats the vintage line, and good in dept review and keep it up
With the Cobra Hurricane and this, epic dog fights.
I wish Ripcord could had this Ace helmet and face mask.
They make a hell of a pair though, don't they?
PRO TIP: Acquire multiple Aces and do some head swap action on a few for a union/ squadron👍
Nice look at the Ghost Striker, HCC. Actually when you compared the GH & SS it immediately made me think of in Top Gun the Tomcats vs the Falcon fighters used in training Joker & Viper flew. I wonder if a customizer could combine the two into one.
They flew A-4 Skyhawks, not F-16s.
Another fun review hoodie!!👍👍 btw...a little lighter fluid on a qtip will remove the marker on the bottom. Just fyi...
Very true, Dave at Toy Polloi swears by it!
V2 🥇
I had NO idea GI Joe EVER released an F-16!
Oh yeah! Turn & Burn baby!!
Why was I not aware of this jet? This is an excellent toy, especially for the 90s! Also, this version of Ace joins a very select few where the first figure is not my favourite. The only others I can think of are Snake Eyes, Hawk, Cobra Commander and Wet-Suit.

Might also explain why so some much paint has rubbed off, you rarely see that much paint wear even on figures that came with helmets
It is really true. 91 on out for a very select number of figures and 92 onward for vehicles were a grotesque amalgamation of IP insanity. That ace figure kinda resembles solid snake when he does the halo jump in the beginning of MGS3 snake eater
Being from Providence Rhode Island, and growing up just a few miles from Hasbro, I'm offended that at some point they made Ace from Seattle. I never knew this

Now I feel bad for Dr. Mindbender.
cant wait
It's a boy! and what a boy!

Use the pop-off tail to simulate battle damage! (that’s what I’d do) 💥
Easily the best version of Ace
If not for the neon-colored pieces and the electronics gimmick, I'd say this Ghostsriker would have ranked just below the Skystriker among the Joes' fighter aircrafts; and indeed this version of Ace looks more like a fighter pilot than a test pilot for experimental aircraft (v1).
Didn't Law get the exact same uzi as Lowlight and Ace? Awesome video!!!
I need the machine/laser guns for the top of my AXE and the pink axe for the figure to complete.
I would like to see a team of GI Joe ghost Strikers going after Cobra night Raven would be very good Jets fight
If I ever get one i really want to upgrade the light with an led.
Hey HCC, the SKYSTRIKER has 6 missiles. In your video at 20.46 you said the GHOSTSTRIKER has more missiles than the SKYSTRIKER. Both jets have 6 missiles each.
Take care KOBRA KOMMANDER

Ok I think HCC has had a lot of free time! Still I think this plane was the last realistic toy from the GIjoe run
I wonder if HCC uses his incomplete example to drive his wife crazy?
great review! will there be a review on the GHUSTSTRIKER X19 soon?
Who was Wayne Ruthel? Was he in the comic book?
Wayne Luther was an employee at Hasbro or something, Ruthel is just an anagram
Kinda weird because my play-time had G.I. Joe-Star Wars mash-ups all the time, the intro wasn't that odd a concept to me
(edit; I think Mach 10 = about 7.5k MPH)
(edit #2; Not qualified for the X-30? odd)
My dash didnt have that light in it.....i miss the 90s..
Did Father Jack write that intro?
Oh...oh...45 hours to go....better order a pizza.
Is that your vacuum. Handle
Best Ace figure in the vintage line. The Battle Copter version flies my SkyStriker. It's a jet, not a spaceship. No astronauts for me.
I agree the best Ace for sure
You finally lost your mind lol. Rip hoodies sanity.
We go up to 11
Its resemblance after the F16 fighter jet
Not sure what you mean version on a real pilot would look like that other than the boots looking like version two boots but with brown boots.
Wait... captain ‘arse’??
No jet goes Mach 10 that you know of.
1993 27😃😃
Sky-striker is way better in my opinion. I don’t really care for the shooting missile,s especially with those colors. Not a fan of the handle either. I like there original concept although some of the early 90,s figures were awesome. Especially the vipers.
1:25 You should have shouted "Yoooo Jo Jo Jo Jo Jo Jo Jo Jo Jo Jo Jo Jo Jo Jo Jo Jo Jo ....!!!!"
I really wish they had released these at the same scale of the Skystriker, The scaling down and moving away from realistic military is what caused me to lose interest in them.
An odd but awesome intro.
This toy is a much needed distraction from the usual drivel of the 90's.
BLAM! HCC788 how old are you?
I'm almost completely clueless of GI Joe stuff from 1993 but I might have liked this.
😂😂😂😂
Your funny..
Smh the pilots always escape. =/
Sky-Striker by a million miles...90's Joes were the brand killer. Who was the assassin that came out with those brand-killer, horrible designs???..🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
I always hate the constant shitting on 90s toys
How dare you assume it's gender! /s
Skits ruin reviews.
