It's always fun seeing fan-created demakes, and we wish we could play these versions of Nintendo games! For this list, we’ll be looking at awesome fan-created demakes for some of our favorite Nintendo games, whether they be playable or not. Our list includes "Super Mario Odyssey 64" (2020), 2D "Metroid Prime," "Super Mario Bros." on the Atari 2600, "Breath of the NES" (2017), and more! Which of these demakes do you wish got a legitimate release? Share your thoughts in the comments!

Companies get stupid when they get big. I can't think of a single huge gaming company that hasn't devolved to a hated and greedy mess. Just look at Nintendo, EA, Ubisoft, Blizzard, or any other big company before the 2000's, and how they're doing now.
You would think that it would be a win win for Nintendo since they're not having to pay for development

The fan game devs shouldn't be publicly talking about them until they're fully finished and ready to release. Once they do release, then everybody will be able to download them before Nintendo or Square (cough Chrono Ressurection cough) can stop them.
At this point demake and remake creators need to create aliases or just finish the game before Nintendo ever has the chance to take it down. then release it to be downloaded and shared by anyone so Nintendo cant stop it.

They make a couple good exclusives but the fact they are still selling them at full price on a weak console is absolutely fucking pathetic. They genuinely think they are on top of the console industry when in reality they are simply second place.

(It is explained in Woolie VS "PSA: A Message to Unofficial Fan Game Creators" that companies have to protect their IP's even if they think that what fan creators are making is really good and want to support them.)

I'll use the major bullet points
Launched a bunch of add-ons instead of releasing a console to compete with Nintendo and Sony until they were forced to upgrade
Went out of their way to antagonize Nintendo
Went out of their way to create a western branch then decided to antagonize them too
Decided to put all their faith in Sonic then proceded to never try to polish a specific gameplay, they jumped from gimmick to gimmick instead
Shenmue 3
Forsakened most of their other IP's
People have been claiming that Sega is indeed doing awesome things that Nintendon't but their years if not decades of sheer bad choices is what left them at the mercy of their own fans, so, yeah, is not that Sega wants to let players do as they like with Sonic, is that Sega "depends" on the good will of their fans.
That really stunned me to see a 2D demake of Metroid prime that is incredible! And that 8-bit breath of the wild actually still looks too good for 8-bit. It looks more like those modern games that have the retro 8-bit graphics. There's more details on the shadows and stuff which is something that really wasn't present on the NES
One can only dream about metroid prime 2d, great work! Honestly it looks much better than a lot of games. That's saying something. We can all make great games in this day and age.
What happened to Prime 2D gives me AM2R flashbacks

Would love to see a Metal Slug version of Splatoon.
I knew Dan Furnace before, and after he made super smash land, I remember him working on it. Before he revealed that last character in it I asked him what it was but he wouldn't tell me other then it hadn't been in any actual smash game. Turned out he was a big fan of Vaporeon lol. It wasn't long after he completed it that he started with Rivals of Aether. Of course, don't think that super smash land is where he started making fan versions of Super smash brothers. The game he worked on when I met him was called Lords of the Smash. It was a SSB version of Lord of the rings. He wasn't as good a programmer back then, but he made this level where you fought on the platform on the back of one of those Giant war Mammoth things, while it walked. It was amazing.

I loved the Lugi's mansion, Ocarina time and Metroid prime 2D, they are great

Maybe I'm just dumb, but how does ANY of Nintendo's cease and desist orders have any teeth. As long as these fan games aren't receiving any kind of monetary gain these ALL fall under fair use. As long as people can prove zero gain from these titles I'm sure it would be a waste of time for Nintendo to take it to court. I don't see them shutting down fan animations or parodies. I don't see them shutting down fan fiction sites. Hell, they aren't even going after randomizers which actually edits their original coding. Fan game makers need to just ignore Nintendo's toothless claims. They're just the playground bully who doesn't want an actual confrontation because it will end bad for them.
If I were to own my very own video game company and a bunch of individuals decided to demake one of my games, remake one of my games, or create a whole new game from that in general I would employe them, have them continue their work on their project and release a game that themselves and hopefully millions more will also enjoy.

Yeah that’d be ideal. This is what Nintendo should do. They wanna monopolize to IP to make the maximum amount of money. Corporations have shifted entirely from pleasing the community and instead whatever nets them the most money. I hate being a Nintendo fan, because they are such dicks to people that actually enjoy their content. If someone is that enamored with my game they are willing to recreate in an entirely different environment, I’d be so overjoyed.

The OoT demakes, to me, show how 3D temples don't necessarily translate to 2D.
There is also a fan-made version of Super Mario 64 in the style of Paper Mario: TT-YD.
And a fan-made Ocarina of Time rom hack for Mario 64

I don't get why people stop after the cease and desist. There's a legal loophole. Just to be safe you start an LLC for your project and don't charge any money for the finished product. They can say the characters are trademarked, you can argue fair use, and if you lose in court then you bankrupt your LLC and you only lose the 250 bucks you used to start the LLC and they can't even legally come after you after that.
It would be impressive if they can make 8 bit games using modern tech and max out the graphics on an 8 bit scale as much as possible like adding shadows and things like that.
8:16 it's so sad that something that looks so good & hjgh quality gets a cease and desist letter from big corp. They should instead embrace the fact that ppl love your game so much and if the game is really good, then put someone from nintendo to oversee the project and let the fan bring it to life (as an approved Nintendo developper) and sell it on modern + original console.

Goes to show. If your making a Nintendo fan game. Never present it till it's complete. Then after it's complete Nintendo can't do anything about it. Sure they can take it down but it will still live on. Nintendo may be mean, but when the game developer thinks ahead and makes the game 100% finished before releasing. It will surprise them and they won't know how to react.
Hope they demake a Skyward Sword and Wii Sports using Earth Bound graphics style now that would be awesome!
I'm pissed that the 2d zeldq guys allowed the opportunity for Nintendo to shut them down. Hello and other creators have been making full complete Mario games for years and they didn't stop.

Imagine if people made a gears of war demake or halo demake? microsoft would be like you make games? they're good? good, sign this contract, nintendo be there just throwing free nostalgia away just to preserve a brand image that's starting to feel like they're not bothered about the people who made them what they are a little bit. best bit is, i bet these guys would release their full games for pennies just so they can get published and see people enjoy their work legally.

i wished i had made the sprites more metroid 2 like so people atleast see it as metroid game and not a cheap hop on the hype wagon on the franchise. but gb studio at that time cannot make sprites bigger than 16x16 without heavy mods to the engine, but hey! thanks for the shout out and exposure!

You say you can't put the demake of Mega Man 8 on the list because it was a Playstation game originally. You shouldn't have Mega Man 7 on here either. Mega Man isn't a Nintendo property anyways. It shouldn't be included on a list of Nintendo game demakes.
I know it's probably too hard to make, but I have always wanted to see a demake of Super Metroid in NES style
Do you really need that stock background music playing over and clashing with the game footage music? Choose one or the other.
Calling these games the best demakes when many of them will never actually be completed is bonkers. A great start means nothing when a project is abandoned fairly early on.
This would be like making a list of ten great tv shows and including several that never made it past their pilot. Makes zero sense.

@@zzz43344 People actually have a much bigger chance than they realize. But the thing is, would you take the risk? Is it worth it? Small creators have much more to lose than Nintendo, it's an uneven fight.
@@MrLoowiz That is true. Going to court to fight these orders will take time and money (something these creators don't have), plus despite the U.S. having fair use, as Nintendo is from Japan, international copyright law can get a bit murky.

Some of these talented game creators would have been better off if they created games with original tittles and graphics. They could create games that has "similar" mechanics like other games have and say they were inspired by "such and such" games. i'm saying this becouse i've seen some indie game developers actually doing this and those games are still around. By doing this allso they could actually get their games funded. (but ofcourse i know that some of these projects might just been a just a hobby for them and making money might not been their interest)

Make the whole fan game to complete then release it. Then nazitendo can't take it down once the rom is on the internet. Stop showing it being made to you finish it then pop the rom up.
Instead of these fan creators releasing demos, they should wait to release the full game so that if Nintendo hits them, at least the game would have been downloaded by thousands of people who can just re upload the game.
