It was dissapointed he didn't play Darkwing Duck or even make himself some pudding in this episode. He spends a lot of time filming and editing this videos so he doesn't get a lot of time to eat pudding. He deserves a break. If he wanted to do a live stream where he just enjoyed some pudding I'd be down for that. Then the fans would still get to watch their boy Scott and Scott would also finally be able to enjoy some pudding. The Resident Evil 1 demake is still one of the coolest things I've ever seen in gaming. The fact that they made a halfway functioning version of RE1 on the fucking Gameboy is insane.
Not really, considering it's one of the more famous 'demakes' that outshone the original material, and IIRC is technically not even a demake since I believe it was built around the same time (And technically released earlier to begin with) so it should more accurately be considered a companion game...

One of my favorites is Persona 3 Portable. Content wise, it would technically be the definitive version of Persona 3, including all of P3 FES's added content (with the exception of The Answer epilogue), alongside new Personas, game play tweaks like controllable party members, new sidequests, a new alternate campaign with a female protagonist, added references to Persona 4, and so on. However, it is a PSP version of a PS2 game, meaning that all the cutscenes are replaced with a visual novel display, and the life-sim moments use an overhead, 2D point-n-click style of game play. Meanwhile, the dungeon crawling is visually the same, just downgraded down to something the PSP can handle better. A curious case where a handheld demake is considered to be one of the best versions of the game
Honest to God, I wouldn't mind if Scott would take another another another break after what he spouted out last week. Its well deserved, but, I also appreciate more uploads. Whatever the case is, Scott is the man and is a symbol of what a good content creator should strive for.
This is such a coincidence! I literally played Street Fighter 2 on an actual and official arcade the other day at a bowling club. It was pretty fun for my first time. The Xbox is locally produced here and is normally offered cheaper than the Sony consoles (although the Series X is 7000 reais, almost the same price ss the PS5.) Nintendo left us in 2015 but came back in 2020. That's why older consoles like the Xbox 360 and specially the PS2 still live supreme here.

This topic has so much potential. This video definitely should get a round 2, and if it does, I really really hope Scott talks about Hummer Team. For those who don't know, they're imfamous for making surprisingly competent ports of SNES games to NES, like Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario World, The Jungle Book, Earthworm Jim, Street Fighter 2, etc.
I'm just shocked he didn't mention "Mike Tyson's Punch Out!!". If ever there was a demake that went on to completely outshine the original and attain legendary status, it's that one. There's a reason why Little Mac is a Smash character and wireframe guy is just an alt costume.
really happy to see captions available early on!!! often times they lack captions or take a moderate amount of time so seeing them available so quickly made me really happy :’)
Love your content, the amount of charisma and research you manage to mesh together seamlessly into each video is very enjoyable. This is one of the most fascinating subjects in videogames to me, so I gotta say most of these games you showcased have been traditionally called "ports" for many decades, because they were IPs adapted or "ported" over (from the ground up in most cases) to different platforms than the one they were originally launched for to try and capture a wider consumer audience. "Demake" is usually reserved for games adapted for purely stylist choices instead of cross-platform appeal. A modern and rare commercial example of this would be Bloddstained: Curse of the Moon.
Well, is Mario Advance 4 a remake or demake? Both that game and 64 DS look only slightly worse than the original (or All Stars Version, as that's what Advance 4 is based off of), and add more content.
It's a remake in the technicality that it is updated and built from the ground up, but it's far from an ideal one considering the controls I really don't like it in comparison to the original
One of the best demake of the GBA era is Max Payne. They adapted the game into an isometric shooter that follows the same level/story progression of the original. They also did some kind of digitalized voice acting for the cutscenes, so charming!
oh I tried that out! a friend of mine owned it on GBA and offered to let me try it. I never played Max Payne before then but I did remember seeing my older brother play it on PS2. I tried it and... well, I was bad. isometric shooters aren't my cup of tea. but the story was good.
@@douglasthequilava yeah it has some major gameplay issues, first of all the restricted field of view and the high difficulty level. But as Scott says in the video, demakes are often bad games but they need to be contextualized by comparing them with the original! If you played the original Payne you will sure appreciate the level of effort that it was put into demaking such a seminal shooter (that was a technical landmark for the era) for a tiny and limited hardware such as the GBA! Gotta love the ambition :D
I always enjoy when a series is demade, especially if it’s done well. Some other ones I can think of which Scott didn’t go over: Cave Story Genesis: A homebrew port, sure, but it surprisingly puts in almost everything from the original game. Fire Emblem Three Houses GBA: An in-progress mod to replicate the Blue Lions route. Went off the grid to ensure they don’t get a DMCA by Nintendo before they finish, but supposedly they’re close to finishing Part 1. New Super Mario Land: Not sure if this counts? It’s an SNES port of Super Mario Land from the Game Boy with graphics from New Super Mario Bros DS. It’s a mix of like three different generations. IndestructoTank! GB: A port of the Flash game for Game Boy, done by the original developer of the game. Somari: An infamous NES port of Sonic the Hedgehog. Fans have patched it to run better. Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy X on NES. Both bootlegs, obviously. Unlike Final Fantasy VII NES, neither have been fan-patched. DOOM 4 Vanilla: Adds weapons and enemies from the 2016 game to the DOS one. Luminesweeper: A port of Lumines on GBA to protest the high price of the PSP port. Virtua Fighter 2 Genesis: It’s... playable. I’m also sure there have been at least some Pokemon romhacks which put newer games on older hardware, but I haven’t really found any completed ones.
@@jacksonsmith2955 bro what the fuck ? The person we taking about GBA romhacks so I mentioned one. I didn't even give my opinion on the game. This along the "Crow and Ant can't solve it easily" reply you made to me are weird takes (in a bad way) bro.

Hi Pat how are you mate?! Hope you're having an amazing day, happy 10 years again, that anniversary stream was such a blast, it was one of the most I've had being in the stream and I will never forget it!
Maybe during the stream whoever donated the most money would get to pick the next flavor of pudding for him to eat. He might also eat some yogurt too but he might want to save that for a separate screen. Scott if you are reading this then know that your fans totally support you taking a break to enjoy some pudding.

Exactly what I was thinking. Sonic the Hedgehog - as an example - on SMS was not a demake at all, but a port of the original.
As great as Scott's big projects are, it's nice to see a good ol' fashion Scott The Woz episode again.

Well, is Mario Advance 4 a remake or demake? Both that game and 64 DS look only slightly worse than the original (or All Stars Version, as that's what Advance 4 is based off of), and add more content.

Cave Story Genesis: A homebrew port, sure, but it surprisingly puts in almost everything from the original game.
In regards to Lumines, what do you mean by “psp port?” I thought the franchise originated on PSP
