I enjoy your videos. I too have struggled with the capricious winds off the hangars and trees. I like your panel. Our RV6 is all steam gages.

You have a terrific personal aircraft. The Cardinal is my favorite Cessna single engine plane.

Great videos, I have Avidyne 440, Aspen E5, Stec50, Jpi930. Very similar panels. It looks like you changed autopilots ? What camera are you using, great voice and very good video ,, thx

Yes, along the way I upgraded from an STEC 60-2 to an STEC 3100. Great autopilot! Most (and all later) videos are recorded on a Drift Ghost camera, I have had several along the way. More details in this video: ua-cam.com/video/gzmyFNhpu7A/v-deo.html
They were wired directly into my intercom with a resistor voltage divider I custom built. One also needs a good microphone, which is my Lightspeed headsets. Thanks for the kind words!

    Keith.
Can you highlight on the topic of how do you update your glass charts and what are the cost involved.

I did a video on that, I'll share the link below. The costs will vary with which plan you select, and those numbers keep changing...

Wow, glad you caught a reboot on camera. I’ve only had that happen once with the MAX upgrade, but I was on the ground. On a couple occasions I have also had TWS (terrain warning system) flag and the GPS1 flag pop up at the same time on the MAX display, as if it had lost connection to my GNS750, then after a few seconds all return to normal. I do have a still shot of that. Have you had that happen yet?

No, the Max to Avidyne connection has always been solid as a rock. But these kinds of little details of digital busses and such are the new frontier of avionics maintenance. The old days of cleaning the terminals and shaking the knobs are long gone!

Keith Peterson That’s awesome I still have my plane and I’ve made a lot of upgrades to it and I’m flying it all over the place and I just got my commercial rating!

Keith - how are you setting your cruise climb mixture? EGT or CHT? and what value do you use?

I often run lean of peak, so I primarily set it by fuel flow. For the first shot at it, as in this video, it is more of a feel thing. Then I glance down at FF and adjust. In this case I was looking for under 11 gallons per hour, which brings me below the "Red Box" of George Braley fame, where I can't hurt the engine even at peak EGT and full throttle.

I’ve seen that reboot happen as well. VFR fortunately. Which AP is that?

That is the STEC 3100... outstanding autopilot.
